The Science Museum is a wonderful place to explore technologies old and new. It has everything from ancient steam engines to space travel, it explains how and why things work and it has the Wonderlab where you can get your hands on the exhibits and play with them to your heat's content. What it doesn't have is a good restaurant in The Diner. We ordered a chicken Caesar salad and a chicken burger. In both cases the chicken had either died of old age or had been cooked to death. it was dry and tasteless. The burger had a smear of mayonnaise and a few bits of red pepper but not much else. The sweet potato chips were cold and rubbery - inedible. Go to the museum, enjoy the exhibits but eat somewhere else.

We visited The Dinner at the Science Museum in mid July and without a doubt it was the best meal we had in London during our time there. For Australians, price wise it is on par with Hogs Breath, so it wasn't cheap, but it was worth it. We had hamburgers, chips and soft drinks and weren't disappointed. It was also the perfect spot to get away from inconsiderate foreign students as it has a waist height wall around it.

The food, albeit a tad expensive, was nice. Good portion sizes and served quickly, however it was fairly quiet when we visited. What disappointed me was the service. We were served by a lovely young girl who was very chatty and friendly, who told us there was no rush. My partner finished his food before me, and his plate was quickly whisked away before I had even got half way through my food (he's a fast eater!). The waitress then returned, asking if we would like any coffees or desserts... But I was still eating my main! This didn't impress me at all, but the tip of the iceberg was after we declined desserts and coffees, she returned with the bill and card machine asking if we wanted to pay cash or card...AGAIN while I was still eating my main!! (this all happened in a matter of minutes, I am not a slow eater). I thought this was very rude, at least let me finish eating. I could maybe understand if the place had been busy but it was not. Considering we'd been told there was no rush, I certainly felt like I was being pushed off my table before I'd even finished eating. I've worked many years in hospitality, and have always considered this kind of attitude as the worst a server can have. Such a shame.

I don't expect these places to serve a la carte, however, it is pegged as the best place to eat for a sit-down meal in the museum and as you may expect from a restaurant you have to wait to be seated. We waited a while despite nobody else in line. The lit up tables appealed to the children. The menu was on a white paper allowing light to pass through and so to read it in the dimmed environment you have to place it directly on the table. This was okay with the adult menu but they failed to make this work with the kid's menu as the text was in a light colour and made it very hard for even this 20+20 vision person to read. We ordered some food, mine was a chicken Caesar salad and everyone else had burgers and my one son had pasta. The salad and pasta were okay and I mean okay not wonderful or fancy and the portions were very small. The burgers were very bland. I mean cardboard bland. I at first thought my son was just being a little picky but when my friend said the same I tried the burger and my shoe sole would have tasted more like beef. I asked the server to taste it and her answer was "We don't get any complaints about the burger, it is plain for the children, that is how they like it!" They gave my son some milk to apologise which was a bit of an insult really, they should have given him some pasta instead. This milk, however, was not something they wanted to give, it was clearly painful for her to offer anything. Having seen the reviews on google with a low 2.5 stars and here I think they are in denial.

Tristemente, era el jugo de naranja espeso con trocitos para que mi hija no pudiera beberlo y los perros calientes vinieron sin pan. Ella tampoco los comió. Los perros calientes deben venir con un bollo, o de lo contrario son solo salchichas.

As most people who visit the museum I wanted something for lunch. None of the restaurants seemed to offer a traditional lunch menu but I found myself near the Deep Blue. Not into burgers, fish and chips way too expensive, so settled on the 'hot' salmon salad. Fairly quickly served. Not sure what was meant to be hot but it certainly wasn't the salmon as both that and the new potatoes were stone cold. Reasonably tasty but an excess of beans of various kinds and quite salty. Pot of tea for nearly £3, ouch - and not to mention the service charge which was not mentioned on the menu.

Recently visited this restaurant. When asked, we were told that soup was carrot and coriander. Ten minutes later while waiting to be served, they said it was now tomato and basil. We said ok. It was to be served with crusty bread and butter. When it came, there was no butter. So asked for butter. And five minutes later came two sachets of butter straight from the freezer. There was no way one could spread it on the bread. The soup tasted like half liquified tin of tomato. Now the other order was for vegetable burger with salad and fries. Burger and fries were acceptable. However salad contained a few greens and a quarter slice of tomato. The soup cost £5.95, Burger cost £9.95 and there was a service charge of £1.59. We were a party of 9 including 6 adults, one child of 11, one of 5 and one of 18 months. after a morning visit in the Science museum we all needed food and decided to eat in the museum. A quick look at the other cafes showed them to be packed out and it would have been very difficult to fit us all in. After a chat to the staff they recommended walking to the far end of the museum (about 5 minutes from the main entrance) to the Deep Blue Diner. This area is just at the end of the space hall and the whole restaurant has low overhead lighting with deep blue wall lights. The only bright lights are the tables which are lit internally with white light. The whole effect is very interesting and strangely calming. This restaurant seemed bigger than the others in the museum. On arrival we were met and the staff quickly prepared a table for nine including a high chair for the little one. The are childrens menus and the main menu had a good choice of standard fare including salads, Fish and Chips and Burgers etc. All were well cooked and presented. Prices were good considering the location.

We found this diner a lot better than the Energy Café (also on the ground floor of the Science Museum) that we visited last time. Service was excellent; drinks were excellent and whilst we only had a small amount of food, what we had was good. The diner is unusually lit, but you cannot miss the blue lighting from quite a distance away! Just head to the far reaches of the ground floor where Tim Peake’s space capsule and the children’s Pattern Pod activity area are. The diner has an outside terrace, but I did not think it was open during our visit. This diner did seem to be under used; they should also offer morning pastries and afternoon cake and I sure many more people would visit.

Deep Blue is deep in the "back" of the museum on the ground floor of the Wellcome wing. It's a table service establishment which makes a nice change for the science museum. The menu is not earth shattering, burgers, chicken, salads etc, but it was well prepared and served by attentive staff. The tables are light boxes and the rest of the room very dark which doesn't make it easy to read the menu or see your food when your plate is casting a shadow from the light coming out of the table. But these are minor complaints, compared to the hell hole that is the main self service cafe, Deep Blue is a pleasant enough place to eat.

We were in the museum and fancied a light lunch. We ordered a slaw, mixed red pepper soups and potato skins with applewood cheese sauce. The pepper soup was watery and no body whatsoever- for the princely sum of 5.50The 'slaw' was just grated carrot and a bit of grated veg with no mayo (otherwise it's not slaw, it's grated veg!!!!!). That was about £1.50!!!!!The 'crispy' potatoes were not crispy, were not hot, and the cheese sauce was like runny Smash that had been shown the cheese. Again £5.50.My other half had a bad back and the super hard seats were a nightmare for him, but the staff did manage to move us to some more comfy seats but there aren't many of these. The 'light' tables are quirky but give you a serious headache as you're blinded every time you look down at your food. Compare this with the really dark low level lighting surrounding you and it's a killer for your eyes.We complained about the food and the attendant happily offered us a free coffee but we didn't want a coffee but appreciated the gesture. Our final bill had a small discount of around £3-4 which just covered the service charge. The staff were top notch and friendly with good service but the food was overpriced and awful. The ambience of the restaurant was non-existent and headache-inducing. SERIOUS CHEFFING UPGRADE NEEDED.

It is modern and bright, customers sit on long "benches" and eat at long shared tables. Kids eat for free!!! with the adult orders. We had two huge portions of good fish and chips, and an unusual smoked chicken and mango salad: huge cubes of a somewhat dry chicken and delicious cubes of mango. Our little 3 year old had fish fingers and fries. I had a small glass of white Spanish Macabeo (gbp3.50) plus we all shared a bottle of sparkling water. Prices are on the high side for a basic restaurant - we paid close to gbp50 for 3 adults, but since the admission to the museum itself is free, it is well worth it. I took my 4 year old nephew to visit the science museum on a Thursday afternoon with both of his grandmothers. We decided to take my nephew to Deep blue for lunch during an exhausting day at the museum. At first glance the place looked pretty different and exciting with tables that had lights in them. As it turned out these were quite annoying it felt like eating lunch on a 60 watt blub in a dark room. We waited to be seated for 15 mins, 3 staff walked past us but didn't seat us until we asked what was going on, it wasn't as if the place was that busy it was less than half full. It took the waiters forever to bring the drinks we had ordered. The food arrived almost half an hour after we ordered nephew was so hungry, I felt sorry for the poor kid. Luckily I had the chance to take him to one of the sections of the museum to distract him while we waited. One of us asked how long the food would be and got a rude response from the waiter, that they had to cook it fresh we'd have to wait! They added the service charge to the bill so I didn't get the chance to refuse a tip, which I would have done as the service was poor. Saying all that, the food was fantastic. I had a Cajun chicken burger that came with fries and a tiny papaya salad which was very good. My nephew had a cheeseburger from the kids menu which he demolished pretty quickly, which was unlike him to do. I couldn't tell if he loved the food or if he was super hungry from the wait. Both Grannies loved their food too. The prices of the meals were ok for what it was, my meal was about £10 or £11 and the kids meal free when you buy the adults meal it was only about £6 anyway. I don't think I would go there again purely for the poor service and annoying underlit tables.

(They're perfectly nice, but I think the table set up makes it a challenge).Benugo's has the most bitter coffee in London. It is very poor quality. Overextracted Milk makes it just slightly palatable. The panna cotta takes the cake. It was terrible. So much gelatine/agar-agar that it could hold up a soup spoon. Jello is finer. Thankfully my waiter refunded the cost.

Generally, am quite apprehensive about museum restaurants - but was quite impressed with Deep Blue - had the burger and fries which was really tasty and as children eat free, not bad value considering the location. Also service was excellent!

After a exhausting yet exciting trip to the museum we ended at the deep blue for a bite to eat we ordered with the waitress 25 minutes later were told it's coming shortly then a further 25 minutes later were given a apology and that the orders finally bein put via we waited just over a hour and twenty five minutes from ordering for two potions of chicken wings and two mixed leaf salads how can somthing go so wrong? Then there was a issue was the salad which by then I couldn't be bothered to complain about.... Why was the salad so salty???? Did it grow in the sea? I have to add to this the manager on Duty wiped our bill and we paid nothing but honestly it's not acceptable they weren't even full! Definitely a staffing crisis that the clients have to suffer

Visiting the Science Museum with my daughter on Saturday, and happened to be by the restaurant at 12:30 so we decided to have lunch. We didn't wait long to get seated, and the service was good: attentive without being intrusive. We ordered burgers: lamb burger for me and a beef burger (minus the gherkin and tomato) for my daughter. The food arrived in good time, looking very appetising (and substantial portions). It tasted as good as it looked and we both left clean plates. Very happy with our whole experience.

We visited on Monday, and restaurant offered Kids Eat Free. So we order 2 main-entree Fish and Chips of £13.5 each, and the kids get to order kids main entree for FREE! The kids entree alone is £5 each! And they can choose other main entree. The restaurant is one of a kind, lights under the table next to fun display. The Fish portions are HUGE with thick real fish meat, and so do the kids Fish Finger. This really put to shame the USA grocery store bake fish! Total for 2 entrees of Fish & Chips + 2 kids Fish Finger come to £31, including the tips! Yay!

A faire! Petit -: climatisation un peu forte. Pas forcement agréable lorsque l'on mange.

For a museum concession restaurant I thought this was good value and the menu imaginative. The Leonardo tie-in food included pancetta wrapped, mozzarella stuffed meatballs which were good and my grilled halloumi on roasted veg was excellent. Lots of celeriac and other interesting veg.

I was rather surprised by the quality of the food. It was all made to order and fresh. There was a rather long wait time since it is not very large. It was very good value for a family since they had an offer where kids eat for free. The seats are not particularly comfortable and it was rather loud. The restaurant is not isolated from the hotel.

This is one of the Science Museum's restaurant. Considering its location and the high number of people served every day/hour, this Resto meet the desires and taste of most clients. The menu displays some classics, including burger, fish and fries but it also offers good healthy salads and a decent wine selection. A nice break during a visit to a wonderful museum.

I wasn't expecting a lot from what I thought was a basic food concession in the Science Museum, but the Da Vinci-themed Italian specials menu for the launch of the new exhibit lured us in. After all, who could turn down the opportunity for pancetta-wrapped meatballs or an authentic 19th-century 'white lasagne'? Well, not I!Sadly, my first choice of the meatballs had sold out, so the lasagne was ordered. When it arrived, like a big piece of cake, the flavour was absolutely fabulous - way above and beyond my expectations. They clearly have an imaginative chef: The top and outer layers were crispy and light, and the 'white' filling very tasty indeed... however, a couple of mouthfuls in and we discovered the interior of the generous slice was still chilled. Undeterred, and impressed enough with the flavour, we sent them back for a reheat and were offered a couple of free drinks as an apology without delay or rancour (extra points for service there). When two fresh, new slices of lasagne arrived steaming, the first thing we did was to double check the temperature: This portion, too, was cold inside. Such a shame - the hot parts were delicious - and whilst clearly pre-cooked (and a lack of dodgy tummy supports the food safety aspect) the dish had not been heated through properly nor the inerior temperature checked. We were running a little late to go elsewhere, and still had our free apology drinks to consume, so we chose a different dish to avoid being disappointed for a third time: Their regular menu offered flame-grilled chicken and new potatoes with winter 'slaw, so that's what we went for (less to go wrong!)Having talked to the staff, including the very helpful and apologetic head waitress, it seems that the lasagne was initially served up in thinner slices and it was their 'end of day' generosity of portion that had undoubtedly contributed to our less than satisfactory experience. They also took the lasagne off the menu for the remainder of the day.We were offered complimentary desserts and a further discount off the bill as additional compensation, and the staff were clearly concerned about the error. The desserts were both excellent. At no time were we made to feel guilty of awkward about our complaint. For the reasons outlined above, the restaurant gets a very average rating, though other (less adventurous?) diners seemed to be enjoying their food from the regular menu. Would we eat there again? Well, possibly, yes - despite our poor experience this time. Whilst unlikely to be spending another all-dayer in the Science Museum for a couple of years, I hope to be able to offer a significantly better review the next time we go back.

Our family party of 7 were warmly welcomed and seated at the far end of the restaurant near the massive light wall. other bench seating had interesting inbuilt lighting which kids would find great. We all ate great food and enjoyed a main and an alcoholic drink for a total bill of about £100 - good value in my book.Burgers were great - lovely caramelised onions in them. Haloumi salad was also great and contained lots of interesting veg.

I guess we should consider that as the Science Museum entry is free then Food outlets are likely to be pricy inside! We were charged £32 for 2 adults Cheeseburgers fries and Coke and a Child's Burger fries and a horrid Strawberry icecream desert. The Child's burger classed as a Kids main meal (no drink) was FREE! Saving £5.75.Service was prompt but hurried and when I asked the waiter to remove the discretionary service charge he was appalled, reluctantly he did so final bill was £29.Still £10 more than it was worth.A captive audience springs to mind, food was hot and edible but nothing special. Tables are also lit through perspex with old food crumbs trapped in the frames, atmospheric but not practical.Wouldn't eat here again.

We went here when we visited the science museum recently. The food was lovely but slightly overpriced (would say this was because of its location rather than anything else) we all had burgers of some variety and they were cooked just right. It looked like the most appetising out of all the eateries in the museum and was a nice treat for us all.

Had the unpleasant experience of eating the overpriced and very poor food here. For £13.50 + 10% service charge I had a rubbery piece of chicken that was nothing like its southern fried name, a pile of fries and a tiny corn on the cob. Not only was it poorly presented but tasteless. They state that by eating there you're helping the science museum, but this is an outsourced catering company. In reality you're better off buying a sandwich from Pret for a few quid and putting £5 in the donation pot. You'll not only have a better lunch and save money but the museum will be better off too. Alternatively try the Energy Cafe at the entrance, it's cheaper and the food much higher quality.

After another fantastic trip to the Science Museum, we mistakenly decided to try out the Deep Blue Restaurant. We were seated promptly at a garish, backlit table which was incredibly unpleasant to sit at. Our order was taken by a fairly surly waitress, and shortly afterwards our food turned up - a huge pile of tasteless chips, a rubbery, luke warm piece of battered chicken and a small corn on the cob, for which I had the pleasure of paying £14. It took a while to get someone's attention so that we could pay. Our food was only half-eaten which seemed to be of absolutely no concern to the waitress. This is an incredibly disappointing restaurant with no redeeming qualities. It is a shame, as they could put a much better restaurant in such a prime location. Responses to other reviews state that they are working with the Science museum to improve. Well this hasn't happened yet, so until it does I would keep away from this place. The cafe near the entrance and shop is far more pleasant, I would recommend going there instead.

I took my two small granddaughters here for lunch. The kids menu was slightly disappointing as everything seemed to come with chips, but of course the two year old loved it! The staff were very helpful and kindly heated up a sachet of baby food. It was a hot sunny day and we would have liked to eat outside on the terrace but there was no shade - the thin awnings were useless and not angled over the tables. So we ate inside which is VERY dark. However, we enjoyed our meal and would certainly go back, but we hope the outside area will be better organised next time.

Always try to give fair, honest reviews so this was really disappointing. The table service was slow as staff struggled with orders even though the restaurant was relatively empty. The poor lighting made it difficult to read the menu, 50% of which was either 'unavailable' or vital ingredients missing with no alternatives offered. Note: Given the wrong order which, once reported, was eventually taken away and served, by now stone cold, to a diner on another table! Unsure if this was 'normal' or hygienic. Even the salads, which were supposed to be cold and are usually quite straightforward, were not as described in the menu and lacked any form of dressing whilst it was not possible to order mini-versions of the 'available' menu choices for older children - maybe one to consider(?)Overall the food was cold and everything, noticeably childrens drinks, was overpriced. It may be convenient however, as we regularly attend museum exhibitions, we will not be dining here again.
