Fantastic restaurant, middle of Bruntsfield. We were downstairs as a group of 8. Very extensive wine & cocktail list, great chat from owner on food & drinks choices. Food top notch (padron peppers!!) Will definitely be going back & keen to sit in booths upstairs next time & order sharing platters!

Varied menu. Sunday lunch roast beef excellent, wine good quality and reasonably priced. Service first class in very comfortable surroundings. What's not to like?

We came for some early evening drinks (with our dog) and ended up staying for food and more drinks. Got a great table in the front window. Staff were very welcoming and attentive, even to the dog who was made to feel like a princess. Food was excellent as was the wine selection. We had our first date here 3 years ago and have and will keep coming back. Highly recommend, best spot in Bruntsfield.

I visit the festival every year and catch up with friends at the same time. We are always keen to find new places to try. I liked the look of Decanter’s menu and it’s near where my friends live, decision was made. It’s relatively new. First impression was, “this place is very nice”, it has a luxurious feel to it with luxurious looking seatings but not “stuffy”, we were nicely greeted. So far so good. We weren’t being hurried to order (ok, the place wasn’t too full), and the waiter took time to explain the food and keep us hydrated with plenty of water, very attentive. Food were very tasty, we have ordered a few small plates, fresh salads, a very flavourful green curried king prawns and pork skewers, flatbreads, chicken and can’t remember the others, all very yummy. We were surprised at the place wasn’t packed. Small criticism is that I would like to see a few more small plates dishes on the menu. We will definitely return. I have already told my other friend who lives in another district of Edinburgh to try this place.

Absolutely delicious Sunday Roast. Staff very attentive and we were well looked after. Decor of the restaurant is fabulous. Owner should be proud.

We stopped in on the way home from a movie for a small bite. What a delightful new find in our neighborhood, how have we missed this? Service was friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. I had the fish tacos, seasoned perfectly and lovely fish. A perfect small meal. My husband’s old fashioned was great, as was the glass of red wine recommended by our waiter. We’ll put this on our “favorites “ list and look forward to enjoying a proper meal there.

100% visit here if you're in Edinburgh. This place is super friendly by all staff, and has the best dog [called Terrier - absolutely not a terrier really but a big softie] to host. We had the Cheeseboard and Bread platter between two people, which were both divine and definlty could be shared with more people easily. The cheese choices [provided from the cheesemonger next door], dips, olives etc were unbelievably tasty. We shall be back!

This is definitely one of the best places for food and drink in Bruntsfield. The vibe is warm and friendly with the warmest, friendly and most knowledgeable staff. Always excellent recommendations for wines and drink with an amazing selection available. Far too many evening have been spent under the roof of Decanter but we always leave in a better mood for visiting. Johnny and Marie always make us welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Many thanks to them and all the staff. This is the place to visit in Bruntsfield if you’re looking for quality and a great night.

Along with the epic cheeseboard, loved the booth upstairs (an extra treat on a sunny day in window seat with window open). Had a great chat with resident dog and owner. Men ordered way too many tapas but said they were all delicious and made a pretty good job of polishing them off. Would be interested to try the room with the speakeasy vibe downstairs. Especially on a cold Scottish winter night. New local favourite.

Was recommended to Decanter. Was not disappointed. Was greeted as if friends not customers. Cosy place. Sat in small booth where the seats seemed to be like a Chesterton, very comfortable. Service excellent. Both had steak. Cooked to perfection. Hand cut chips more than enough for two and greens, so much election. The blue cheese and sun dried tomatoe jus an excellent choice with the steak. Wine selection very good. When in area will visit again.

The place is absolutely adorable and oozes charm. The menu is compact but has plenty variety and caters well to all. We had a few small plates, the venison and hake and shared a dessert. The food was absolutely fantastic!!! 🤤🎉 The staff is amazing, so friendly and helpful! There to suggest options and help you with the choice and believe me there is plenty choice in wines and drinks 🥰 Definitely recommend you give them a visit, it won't disappoint! As for us, we'll be back and soon! ❤️

Small restaurant with bags of character. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The menu was small but what was on offer was mouth watering. We had the venison and chicken dishes, both didn't disappoint. Wine selected by our hosts also delicious! Well worth a visit.
