No longer exists, closed permanently some time ago.it has been replaced by another cafe.,at least the building has been repurposed and not left empty like so many others in the town.

This was my favourite place to go on my days off with my partner for lunch. The pork sandwich they did was amazing with so much flavour, its a real shame to hear they have closed, I really think our high street needs more of these kind of restaurants.

So sorry to see Dax has closed - a great loss to Camborne. The best coffee in town and lovely people.

We used to go often, the Portuguese Tapas was amazing. Also the roast meats. Now it’s a few bits and pieces….poorly presented second rate food. If you loved it before you won’t now. I felt sorry for the employees you can see they are sad to be serving this stuff.

what a great pleasure to be able to come down camborne high road and frequent this eatery after a year of lock-down, it was great to see john alan and maria again . i had a wonderful lemon sorbet in a real lemon, siting in the sun with Mediterranean aromas coming from the kitchen , and able to buy the best ingredients for an appetiser before dinner, with fresh bread the best tasting egg from john's chickens with a beautiful yolk , and a very rare treat guanciale ! it was great to catch up, it was like seeing family again. see you very soon

Really lovely authentic place. Sat down for a quick snack and received a fab Italian ciabatta. Would definitely recommend. Nice little accidental find.

What an amazing place. Excellent food. We placed a take out order of: a whole roasted pork joint, octopus, white crab, Mixed crab, pataniscas ( fish cakes ) rice, salad and had a feast. Maria lovely lady is an excellent chef. Lovely friend place. Whatever you do, you must have a morning coffee with natas ( Portuguese custard tart) fresh from the oven . Travel all over Cornwall working amd this is by far the best food we've had! Pork sandwich was outstanding..pasty was outstanding amd the Cannolis were outstanding. Definitely returning time and again. Excellent value and quality ingredients

We always come to Dax when we visit Cornwall. The food is so good and fresh! Best coffee! We ordered food in advance and turned up for lunch! The dishes were excellent! You don't need to go to the Mediterranean when you have Dax and beaches around Cornwall!

Today was our first visit to Dax. We pondered the vast menu and settled on two delicious Ciabatta for takeaway lunch. I had hand cut Roast Ham and salad, hubby plumped for mixed Salami, Cheese and salad. They were absolutely delicious! Fresh and packed with fillings. We also took Pastal de Nata for "afters" as they are a Portuguese favourite of ours... So tasty! Best I've tasted outside of Portugal!! Next time we are going to eat in and sample their coffee.

Very good food and service, really like the choice of foods and drinks here especially all the cakes , one of the only places locally I have seen that do Cannoli.

We are regular's. Ample choice, well cooked dishes, friendly service all at reasonable prices. The fish and seafood are the freshest. Good deli selection to take home too as well as home made ice cream. A bit of foodie heaven.

I love the atmosphere and delicious food in this tiny corner deli in Camborne. Sumptuous and home cooked pork, spilling out of the ciabatta, with extra crackling. The chicken tapas was small but mighty. Rich and full of flavour. Takeaway sweet pastries are also a must try!

Been getting pork or beef sandwiches from here for years... there are still great but not as packed with meat as they used to be. Great price, friendly staff, good food... but not enough in that sandwich to satisfy. So pack more in please.

We live a few miles away in Redruth and this is our favourite place to go to for lunch. We nearly always have the roast pork ciabatta, with stuffing and apple sauce! O.m.g these are to die for! By far the best anywhere. The coffee is amazing also.

I regularly have the £1.99 special award winning pasties from here they are without a doubt the best value pasties in Cornwall and up there with the best pasties I have eaten , the right size and really tasty ingredients

great to see the ice cream fridge back and what a great selection of flavors the malaga sweet wine and raisins was absalutly adictive it wasn't as sweet as the name sugests it was clean and refreshing you could taste the wine and delight in a little burst of sweetness from the plump raisins a real must try if in Camborne, as usual the friendly welcoming staff and clean suroundings were great, and with the cooking aromas coming from the kitchen the sun shining it felt like being some where in the med give it a go you wo'nt be disapointed

Can't believe it this as got to be the best in Cornwall food to die for. Best place in a 20 mile radius. Try it it's fab and in cambourne wow truro pz or Falmouth can't compete with it

Continue to be impressed with the standard of food in this tiny restaurant. Check out the specials on the blackboard - give any of them as try and I guarantee you will not be disappointed. My favourites are the Spanish meatballs, hake with spring onion mash and pork with chips (real, not frozen), rice, egg and salad. None of the so called up market restaurants in Cornwall can hold a candle to this place.

Guy behind counter was grumpy... we turned up 1 hour after opening and there want nothing interesting out to eat on display plus no sign of a breakfast menu, this place is extremely dull and confusing it just feels like they want to sell a bit of everything for everyone but it doesn't deliver.

I am so glad that we have found this amazing little restaurant! A selection of authentic Portuguese, Spanish and Italian food is on offer and I can't wait to try all of it. My husband and I popped in for a quick lunch - I had the Spanish meatballs and he had Portuguese bifana (pork steak on a soft roll). My meal was so full of flavour, I have to say it was the best meal I have had in a restaurant for a very long time. I had a meatball dish at Jamie Olivers a few months ago, which was complete rubbish in comparison. The restaurant was busy, but we had excellent service. Can't wait to go back there again. Dax always has the best quality food! Great value for money! The seafood are delicious and in good honest portions, Not tiny little things served on a huge plate you see at restaurant! The staff are very nice and warm! My 2 boys came to have lunch here and asked to come back to Dax for lunch everyday on our Holliday. They praised the Bolognese sauce, the pork, the tempura prawns...in fact they said this place has the best food in Cornwall and they are a bit sad that Dax is not open for dinner

The food in this establishment is great value for money, I live in Falmouth so can only make the occasional visit when working in camborne unfortunately,The coffee is great and better than over the road ! Food is fantastic,portuguese,spanish and italian,great seafood and especially the shellfish,I did`nt have time to eat last time i was there so they boxed up the shellfish platter to eat at home , What a meal !!John and the staff are great and always make an effort to please ,Keep up the great work and thanks again

I have been going here for sandwiches which I normally have a salmon sandwich which they normally charge £4.99 anyway went in again the following day to order my sandwich to which I was told the price was now £7.99, I queried this and was told this has always been the price, I told them I work in town and come in regularly and always pay £4.99 for it, they told me as they had already made it they would let me have it for that but next time it will be £7.99, how can it go up £3.00 extra in a day. Maybe they think they have a sandwich shop in the middle of Harrods and forgetting they are in fact in Camborne. Sorry to say there won’t be a next time as I refuse to pay £8.00 for a sandwich!!!! Another local customer you have lost as I won’t be returning!!

Try to pop in as often as I can always a lovely cup of coffee (have to say prefer to pay a local business than the large coffee chains especially as the coffee is so much better) lovely food clean and pleasant service

Fantastic choices of tasty, freshly prepared food. Friendly, personal service. Staff helped us choose which dishes to have by describing in detail what the Portuguese meals were. Amazing flavours, good sized portions and very reasonably priced. Nice coffee too. The small 5 tabled cafe also offers delicatessen counter, showing a wide range of Italian and Portuguese delicacies. After the lunch, I left with a carrier bag containing milano salami, serrano ham, provolone cheese, canoli and some other sweet pastry delights. Well worth a visit.

Having recently moved to Camborne, decided to treat myself to lunch in an Olde Worlde Coffee Shop called Dax in Trelowarren Street. I chose a large Cornish Steak Pasty and a lovely cup of Americano coffee. The service was very fast, friendly and also relatively cheap. A large hot pasty using local ingredients for £2.95 plus coffee Total bill £5.50. Didn't eat anything for the rest of the day. So filling and delicious. A good place to meet friends.

As a 'local' and often in town I go in for a coffee (which is the best I have ever had) or a light lunch or sometimes take away rolls... ham roast pork or beef, they are all delicious and well worth the money.I have also had a selection of their small cakes which were lovely.The staff are friendly and very obliging and although it is very small and nearly always busy it is bright cheerful and clean

This was an absolute treat, we are local, from Crowlas and will be returning and recommend to friends and family. Had lunch at Dax Deli - continental tables, authentic fish tapas, owner with a deep knowledge of portuguese food culture. I would recommend a trip to Camborne just to sample the produce in the deli and have a coffee.

This is a reasonable place to get a good value coffee and cake. We went in the afternoon so they were not serving hot food. I would go back.

Great honest food beautiful cooked and served, very friendly service, nothing is too much trouble. Dishes are very substantial and wholesome. There is a specials board which has different dishes every day, I had the befana today which was excellent, Coffee and tea are hot and fresh with a great selection of cakes too, Lovely clean premises and a nice friendly atmosphere keep up the great work the three of you do

A short visit was made to Dax for some desperately needed coffee - and this cafe / deli proved to be an excellent choice. The coffee was better and cheaper than most high street chains.And though there was no need to buy food on this occasion, the choice of fresh Italian ingredients looked wonderful.

A cracking find, with an amazing array of foods on offer. Often sit in and have a coffee and ciabatta bacon roll. The coffee is the best in Town and the bacon roll is amazing, with mushrooms and toms. It's really worth a visit

Called here on a cold windy day in Camborne. A friendly welcome and pea and ham soup work a ham hock ciabatta sandwich later left me warm and relaxed. Good coffee too and a friendly chat about the produce and recent developments. Unexpected gem. Only drawback. Slightly more salt in the soup than I would like.

people who frequent this deli on Camborne Trelowarren Street will know that the food sold or freshly prepared and served has never disappointed, today was no exception, the smoked salmon crab and prawn platter I had was as usual fantastic, served with a great friendly chat with John, Alan or Maria. There is always an aroma of freshly cooked pork, beef, crab or the humble pasty, you can sit down in a relaxed atmosphere and enjoy the many delicacies and excellent cakes and coffee at reasonable prices. I could go on and on, but the best way to sample all this is to take a trip into Camborne and see for your self you won't be disappointed

I was so sad when i heard that this gem had closed and i was thrilled to find that he has merged with another local business and is directly across the road from his old shop in the Vanilla Cottage at 39, Trelowarren Road. The same lovely food, lovely people and good value. They are even on the sunny side of the street now so they will have tables outside in summer.

I love eating & sitting here as although in the heart of the town it's so peaceful with great food, drink & staff!

I have heard that Dax will be moving to the Cardrew industrial estate which is a great loss to Camborne but still in easy reach, not too far to go for the good quality food that has become the talk of the town for some time, at this new unit we will still be getting the quality food and great tasting Italian coffee, cakes and pastries and service it's still Dax just up the road, good luck to the Dax team in this new and exciting venture see you soon

We went here on our first day of our holiday having found it on here, and we were not disappointed. It's like a deli really, but with a few tables along the counter where you can sit and have food and drinks. The menu is quite extensive and there were lots of specials dotted about. The sandwiches were really well filled, and you got a really big portion for the money. The staff seemed really nice and this place had a very welcoming feel. We paid just £13 for 2 hot drinks, 2 sarnies, a cold drink and some takeaway pastries which were all excellent. I don't doubt we will be back later on this trip.

Dax Delicatessen is heaven! Fresh Cornish crabs, Italian cheeses, cured hams, sweet desserts and fresh sandwiches made to order to eat in or take away! Where else can you find that in Cornwall?!There is always an aroma of freshly cooked pork or lobster enticing us in! You can sit down in a relaxed atmosphere and enjoy the many Italian, Spanish and Portuguese delicacies - excellent food at reasonable prices. We are there every week stocking up the fridge as well as treating ourselves to a lovely fresh sandwich, whether hot or cold fillings there is something for everyone and having tried most of them they are all as delicious as the last one! (The tapas is great too! As well as the coffees and choice of cold drinks!)I mustn’t forget the customer service – amazing! John always looks after us so well – he is friendly and helpful – there is so much to choose from and he is always happy to help and offer you a taster - nothing is too much for the Dax team! The best thing to come to Camborne!

Camborne is very lucky to have this place as it's a real treat to go for lunch to have a fresh ciabatta filled full of lovely roasted peppers and a range of salami and some lovely aoli washed down with a nice glass of blood orange San Pellagrino

The food is very tasty, we had lunch it was the special of the day. Cooked to order tasted amazing and the customer service was excellent. A wide variety of foods all very well presented and very good value for money. Highly recommended

Lovley friendly deli.. fancied crab and the shop owner (I believe) suggested to have it with some salad a fresh ciabatta and Italian vinaigrette it was spot on! Shared it with my 8 year old daughter and we both loved it! So fresh. Nice place :)

As this gem is so good and we are here fairly regularly, it is becoming hard to find words to describe how excellent the food on sale is and the freshly cooked food that is served hot or cold is always freshly prepared to order beautifully presented and just delicious, and reasonably priced, all I can say is try it for yourself you will definitely not be disappointed, go on give it a try!

This place is a gem. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, especially if you're a bit baffled by what you should try. They know their stuff when it comes to food and the variety on offer is amazing. If you're still unsure, then the shrimp poboy will never disappoint! The price and quality of their coffee puts any high street chain to shame. Give it a try, you'll be coming back for more like everyone else.

After wandering around looking for a nice eatery and on the verge of leaving to eat elsewhere, we came upon this gem of a place!! The food is totally amazing, and we would have been happy to pay more than they are asking, food as good as this where we are from Padstow area would have been maybe up to £20 per person. The staff are lovely and even on a very busy day had time for everyone. I wish you could open up in our area too!! But you have given us very good reason to come down here more often. Well done, maybe expand you will be a huge success.

What a great treat we had today at this top draw deli/café, hot fluffy tempura Cornish crab, langoustine,and king prawn platter with aioli and a lightly dressed salad and a Louisiana po- boy (which was far superior than the one I had in New Orleans) in warm freshly baked ciabatta roll stuffed with the freshly cooked tempura sea food, to finish off we had a fantastic knickerbocker glory, and a three scoop cup of Parravani Italian ice cream which is real authentic Italian ice cream made buy an Italian family form near Naples since 1898. eating at the lovely new marble tables in sunny Camborne on Trevithick day there is no place I would rather be, pop in and see John he is always happy to explain the traditions and origins of the huge selection of international and local foods available, and have a good strong cup of Italian coffee with the tasty little pastries, in this relaxed and welcoming deli.

My first visit to this deli/cafe and I will definitely be returning. It's a bit small so not suitable for large parties but it is charming and quaint and the food is excellent. You can eat-in or take-away, or you can buy from a huge mouth-watering array of meats, cheeses and other deli items to prepare at home. What a find in Camborne! Top notch!

The owner is happy to explain the traditions and origins of the huge selection of international foods available at the deli. relaxed , welcoming and INDEPENDENT!! why go to Costas?

Our first visit since work took us away from Cornwall last year, Dax is as good as ever and the man himself welcomed us like old friends. I had a hot pork sandwich, coffee and a lemon filo pastry, everything was lovely and the bill for me was about a fiver - a real result considering the quality of the food. The delicatessen has a fantastic selection of cheeses, meats and seafood. Have a glass of wine and tapas and just let the world go by.

Popped in for a coffee as the coffee here us better than their immediate coffee chain neighbour. Just in time to get the aroma of fresh cooked pork and decided to have the pork on ciabatta special. Just fantastically tasty and I left the deli feeling a lot better than when I went in.

If youre in Camborne this Deli is well worth a visit. Amazing range of authentic internatonal food. Best Serrano ham. Give costa a miss and come and eat here

On a recent visit to Camborne I was surprised to find this delightful deli with good range of counter products on offer. I was impressed enough to take the time to write this, my first and possibly only Trip Advisor review. Our lunch was very reasonably priced with a generously filled fresh ciabatta at a similar price to a pre-packed "limp lettuce" offering elsewhere. Although not exactly aimed at children the owner was very kind and accommodating to our little girl (age 3) and we were made to feel welcome: thoughtful touches like serving her a share of my soup in an espresso cup for ease. Camborne high street is not synonymous with good food but I would recommend Dax Deli and will definitely eat there again.

Hi, I am Spanish and I was delighted to discover this little jewel hiding in Camborne, found great salted cod and other delicatessen very difficult to locate in the UK. Shame I live so far away from it.

Nothing is ever too much always greeting ourselves and everyone with a smile.If like myself you are a foodie and struggle for good ingredients to cook Mediterranean food, you can get everything you need here.Portuguese food from the lady at the weekends is also very good and also very friendly. I now owe a work colleague a huge debt of gratitude for letting me know about the Dax Deli. What an amazing 'Aladdin's cave' of a deli, full of the flavours of the med, both savoury and sweet. They even sell cataplana and paella dishes for you to make at home. I can't wait for them to extend and open up the restaurant section. A little bit of Portugal in Cornwall to help us 'matar saudades'. A simply wonderful, quality addition to the Cornwall food scene.

I lived in Italy for almost three years and every time I would come home I would miss being able to buy decent Mediterranean style food. This place fills this hole. I found the staff to be very knowledgeable about their produce and the quality of the Bresoala ( dry cured beef ) and Coppa Parma was very good. They have a wide range of cheeses and other products such as sausages. I highly recommend the Portuguese egg tarts, they are delicious. This place will give you an authentic glimpse of what Mediterranean cheese and meat is like rather than the overproduced, overpriced, pre-packaged equivalent you will find in the supermarkets.

We were pleasantly surprised to come across this lovely place so we thought we'd give it a try and the food was lovely.We had a couple of chiabatta rolls made up with fantastic salami and roasted peppers.They tasted lovely and the price was very reasonable so they will do very well so if you fancy a change from the pasties give them a try as you won't be disappointed.

A couple of moccas with the most A M A Z I N G almond cake ever! I've been working my way through all the cakes here, (mad about Pasteis de Nata) but the standout one for me is this. No nebulous almond ‘extract’, but packed with almonds, almost marzipan like. To die for. My friend enjoyed her cappuccino & Tart Aux Pommes, finding the latter moist & flavoursome. The thing that differentiates cakes here, for me anyway, are the flavours. Tangy raspberry, citrusy lemon & lime, sweet blueberry & vanilla, almond and crisp apple. Treat yourself to a sample, you won’t be disappointed. Undeniably great coffee served here, & a nice vibe. Another visit, for a delectable & scrummy lunch at Dax. This time, garlic & olive pate on Bruschetta – divine, followed by succulent King Prawns marinated in garlic & chilli, luscious mixed leaf & sun blushed tomato salad strewn with delicate strips of red pepper with a lemon balsamic dressing. The menu is simple and to the point – no messing here! The options are scrawled on a black board. Dishes are simple with a twist of ingenuity and great use of flavours. The friend that accompanied me thoroughly enjoyed her Cornish Honey Roast ham & salad filled ciabiatta which she said was bursting with flavour. Exquisite food at a good price. Top notch service. I love relaxing in the tranquillity of this unpretentious yet beautiful little deli, counters filled with delights to feast your eyes, with a coffee or mocca on the side. Heaven! Marinated pulled pork & salad roll last Friday . . .magnificent! Don't miss this when you visit Cornwall.

I regularly get my lunch from Dax Delicatessan and have never had a bad meal. Everything is fresh and delicious. The service is quick and the prices spot on. Everything they sell from bread, cheese, meat, fish, olives, cakes is always fresh and tasty. Dax Delicatessan is just what Camborne needs. Better than the endless pasty shops and other sandwich shops that charge far more for inferior food. The staff at Dax Delicatessan are always friendly and helpful and nothing is ever too much trouble. Definitely the best. :-)

Love this deli. What a treasure, right in the centre of Camborne. An amazing range of Med seafood, cheeses and meats. This place is up there. Oh and the dressed crab the best I have ever had; full of flavour. If this place was in Truro it would be heaving with eager shoppers.

We had a very tasty lunch of lobster in tempura batter with ciabatta bread. Excellent food at a reasonable price. Very friendly staff and you can take your own wine and be charged £3 for corkage.

what a ray of sunshine on a drizzly afternoon in Camborne sitting in a welcoming and friendly environment with a hot strong cup of tea and a Portuguese cake watching the world go by. the aroma of the pork roast was so tempting I'll be in for lunch thanks John and Lamorna

My husband loves seafood and says that the langoustines were up there with the best he has had anywhere. I don't like seafood but love a shop like Dax which has the courage to open outside places like Truro and Falmouth. It's about time Camborne had something other than poundshops, charity shops and the like. There is a good choice of deli items in Dax which is great for variety. They are friendly, helpful and wow, no having to drive to another town.

I went with my partner and the sandwiches were alright but the coffee wasn't good at all, it tasted like the coffee's you get out of vending machines, yet it was called 'Italian coffee'.

what a great treat dinner was last night, after buying this great fresh lobster langoustine tails and crab claws they went down very well with a bottle of chilled wine, this is just one example of the quality food you can buy in this little deli in the middle of Camborne, the food on display is a feast for the eye and the belly! give it ago you won't be disappointed its all authentic and delicious

I'm lucky enough to work nearby and everyone at my work regularly has sandwiches from here. They are always excellent - I usually have mixed cheese or dressed crab wth salad, mayo or garlic mayo on a warm ciabatta. Delicious. Staff are lovely, always friendly. It's wonderful to have this on Camborne high street.

Portuguese Saturday was amazing I had duck rice and chorizo bacon side salad my family had prawn dish both amazing types of food will definitely go again sorry that we went mr bs for desert next time will have pudding here

my daughter and I called in for lunch today and boy what a treat, we had an excellent bowl of king, tiger and langoustine garlic and chilli prawns, Malaga salad and crusty bread, perfect on a sunny Monday lunch time it certainly brightened up the afternoon everything here is always cooked fresh so there's a little wait but it's so worth waiting for, always a warm and friendly welcome

What a little gem in the middle of depressing Camborne. Me and a friend popped in for lunch. Both had one of the Portuguese specials, coffee and desert.The food is obviously cooked from scratch as it took a while. Well worth the wait. Friendly staff and reasonable prices.Looking forward to a return visit soon.
