Classic old school fish & chips. Friendly service and a good size portion. Enjoyed the haddock.

Hands down, the best fish and chips I’ve ever had in the whole of the UK! (Previously it would have been the catch in porthleven Cornwall), but this is by far and away some of the best food I’ve ever eaten from either a takeaway or a restaurant! The fish was cooked to absolute perfection, the chips were crispy and soft, the mushy peas were great, and to top it all off, it wasn’t the standard tartare sauce, it just elevated the dish perfectly. Value-wise, brilliant. £13.50 for large (and I mean LARGE) cod regular chips and mushy peas, I’m 6ft and 14stone and couldn’t finish it all!! Recommended by a local, and I certainly will to everyone I meet. Fishers and frenchies (in wells and Hunstanton) have absolutely nothing on these guys!

We had chips with curry sauce the curry sauce was perfect just how I like it not spicy so good the chips was delicious it's cash only so make sure you have some cash on you. Friendly staff and did not take long even had a long que. Next to it you can also sit in the restaurant bit but we decided to have the chips while watching the sea

We went today into the restaurant. The fish, chips and peas were excellent. The best we have had in a long time. The lady serving was busy and she was professional and very good at running the dining room. We felt it was good value as well. Thank you 😁

As usual the service was fabulous, chips yummy, kids love their nuggets and the battered sausages tasty. Curry sauce for extra flavour. Our go to chippy when we're in Sheringham. Thanks Daves! X

Best Haddock and chips ive had in years. Lovely light crisp batter. Perfectly cooked fish. Very generous portion size (reg). My husband had Cod and said was best meal out he had had in ages. Nice pot of tra, just the job to wash it all down. Plain surroundings but clean and tidy with friendly efficient staff.

Good value for money, and great tasting food, we went to the take away part, best chip shop in Sheringham, well worth a visit.

Had fish and chips with mushy peas plus bread and butter and tea. Very busy, waited five minutes for a table. Service was great and staff very friendly. Food fantastic, all hot and stayed hot until the end of meal. Fish succulent and batter crispy. Well worth a visit. Will be back next time we are in Sheringham.

The BEST Fish and Chip Shop EVER My partner grew up here, he has always highly rated the food since a child and he is a True Food Lover. It is the very best fish and chips you can get - great price too. I recommend the haddock and chips, its so worth the queue and you can go and sit on the wall by the sea just a couple of minutes down the road and enjoy the view for free. Overall - a great treat..

Large cod and small chips £12 takeout. I've been here before and liked it - they've upped their game! I was in Sheringham for 3 nights and as I love F&C and don't get a lot where I live I determined to have F&C 3 days running in Sheringham, at 3 different establishments. First night was Sheringham Trawler, which was pretty decent. 2nd night was Dave's and it was astonishingly good. A huge amount of cod cooked to perfection with decent batter and lovely traditional chips. There was a little too much for me to manage (despite having had an active outdoor day with only a small lunch) so I left a few chips. Great food, great value! So, a different chippie for day 3? Nope! Back to Dave's for at least as good an offering of F&C! As a FYI, the fish was skinless. Also, cash only.

Hide GEM, when walking around Sheringham with the smell of lovely fish n chips, being lunchtime we followed our nose past other establishments and turned off the main street & saw people sat outside having lunch. Opted to go in the restaurant for our lunch together with a pot of tea. What a warm welcome, with humour we were shown to our table. The food, drinks and service was exceptional and we'll be back. Annoyed we have visited Sandringham so many times, but missed Davies fish & chip shop and restaurant. 😋😋😋🍴5*****

I can't remember the last time I ate Cod and chips this good. Staff are polite, friendly and attentive. Dave's Fish Bar and Restaurant is clean, spacious and decorative. Once ordered the meal arrives quickly in large portions and it's hot, very fresh and extremely delicious 😋. Great value too! As a family we will definitely return for what could be the best fish and chips in Norfolk.

I had the daves special and it was very nice. The fish was fab. Nice crisp with soft white flakes. No bones. Chips were OK. Mushy peas were good. For the money you can't go wrong.

Just the job after a walk from pretty corner, fresh cooked chips, decent portion.

Not good, they put your fish on top of your chips, and the batter is under cooked, so soggy batter sticks to your chips so you end up throwing them away, which isn't too bad as some of mine were green.

Have been visiting Dave's for nearly two years, usually go at least once every month, the staff are always helpful and friendly, served quickly and never have to wait long for the food to come out. The cod and chips cooked freshly with large portions on every occasion. Good quality battered sausages and again a generous portion of chips. Tea is hot and tasty, enough for two cups each plus bread and butter. Very reasonably priced. Nice comfortable seating area too. Made to feel welcome and looked after all year round.

Fish and chips are a personal thing and there are many variables of what individuals like and expect. Firstly the staff were welcoming and very friendly and the restaurant area was clean and inviting. As I’ve already said expectations are a personal thing with fish and chips and unfortunately the food we had here didn’t hit the mark for us. The chips were good on the whole but the fish was swimming in far too much oil for our liking. When we pressed the batter the oil rose to the top! The batter was also very thin and just didn’t have the crunch we like. It was busy when we visited with few free tables so it might be that the service was rushed. Maybe if the fish had been left to drain for longer in the top of the frier it would have been less oily! Overall we wouldn’t return for the following reasons, the fish was oily and the batter was not thick enough or crisp enough for our taste. I’m not saying this was bad but it just wasn’t to our taste so make of it what you want. Clearly most people are very happy with what they receive.

Incredible food with locally caught fish In my opinion it is the best fish and chips in the town of Sheringham The service is great although on the 40s weekend it can get quite busy but luckily take away is an option and after many visits the food is still as incredible as the first time I visited I would highly recommend

Dave's has a take-away side and a separate restaurant side. This review is for the restaurant. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Cosy and friendly decor. Food well-priced (see menu pic) plus a selection of children's meals including drink for £5.50. Food arrived quickly, was as good as we could have hoped and overall it was an extremely pleasant experience. Thanks to the two ladies and young man on shift who really looked after us.

What can I say, lovely food especially the curry sauce. Very clean and staff attentive. Didn't wait for long and everything was very fresh. So good we ate 2 days on the spin. Tucked away, but this is a must if you're in sheringham. Great price! Parking was OK, we went in the pay and display near the crown pub and walked round. You can park in the bays in the road for 45 mins, but as long as you like after 6pm.

Really busy on a cold February day which is a good sign I think. a bit of a wait But food was really tasty and fresh. Would definitely come back again.

Gosh the chips are good, they tasted of potato and they weren’t over cooked. The sausage was quality, it had a good amount of seasoning/flavour all for a fiver! Cash only was weird but there’s a cash point at Sainsbury’s round the corner. We stood and ate indoors because it was very cold plus it’s always good to have more salt and vinegar when you share a large portion of chips. Totally delicious!

Great chips and ok spring rolls, great service and atmosphere... Love going there...

Ok so I was only six years old and not a food snob in '76, but in 2024, aged 54 I like the finer things in life. So if you want the best fish & chips in North Norfolk eat in at Daves. The take away is equally as good. My partner does not like fish & chips but she will have them here, along with peas, buttered bread & a can of pop. It's worth the 120 mile drive & the queue. It's as good as fish & chips is ever likely to get.

Absolutely the best fish and chips I've ever tasted! The large portion was easily big enough for two. The front-of-house staff were friendly and welcoming, creating a lovely atmosphere. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Sheringham.

Visited with two grandchildren.Good value meal especially for the children food and drink included in the price. We sat inside as its easier for the children to eat. Efficient staff order taken by pleasant waitress and food cooked to order and presented hot and quickly. I recommend as an ideal place for hot lunch in the cold winter days.

As others have written in their reviews, it was the best fish and chips I've ever had 🥰 No unpleasant smell of fish, the meat was plump and the batter was crispy. The curry sauce was delicious. The staff at the restaurant were very friendly and made the dinner a pleasant experience!

Lived local for 80 years i often recall the delicious fish and chips we had in Yarmouth when we were kids i have just had plaice and chips in Daves that equaled or maybe beat that taste .I would say the quality of the fish and batter combined with perfect cooking and polite service could not be bettered anywhere and we tried the fish and chips in many places including Whitby well done Daves

Oh dear what a disappointment ……. Soggy batter and so greasy. Maybe a bad day but expected much better…. will be trying other places now.

Absolutely awful cod here this evening, undercooked tasteless cod with greasy soggy batter, ended up in bin, really annoys me that these kind of businesses are happy to sell you crap like this when it’s so expensive, very hard finding decent chippys these days. Chips were ok but swimming in grease from the cod on top.

Great experience ordering at daves fish bar. Ordered the large cod and chips xs 2 and wow what a surprise when I got back to the car and me and my wife opened it up to find out the portion size was enough to feed a family of 3 per meal. The food tasted great very fresh and the fish was lovely and flakey. Thank you daves fish we will make 10 mile trip to see you again.

Good generous portions too. Service was superb, all the staff were incredibly polite. Been here a couple of times now, and personally I wouldn't go anywhere else for fish and chip dinner . Their restaurant fish and chips meal deal is excellent value for money. You can tell this as always people queuing outside to get in. Staff are brilliant and above all the fish and chips are delicious. And the curry sauce yummy. Highly recommend. And can't wait to go back to Sheringham for the fish&chips again.

We were staying in Sheringham for a few nights and wanted to have fish n chips on the Friday evening. We asked the landlady of our B&B, also a local we were taking to later on in the town where they would go for good fish n chips and they both recommended Dave's immediately. It's tucked a bit out of the way, off the main High Street so we probably wouldn't have found it otherwise. The recommendations were spot on. These fish n chips are outstanding. The fish in particular was superb. Light crispy batter over delicious, beautifully cooked white fish. The chips were good, but if I'm being super critical, not as outstanding as the fish, but better than a lot of restaurants serve up. Hence the 4 and not all 5 stars. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient and to to all this off, the price was very reasonable. Don't go anywhere else for your fish n chips in Sheringham

Excellent, been to lots of chip shops over the last 30 years from Northumberland to Suffolk and this is one of the best on the coast, had a Dave special, sausage special both were superb hopefully we get back there before we return home

Big queue for takeaway, which was a good sign of the quality. Restaurant was empty, we ordered and the food was brought to table very quickly (less than 5 mins) and was hot and tasty. Thanks. Update - back again, still very nice, just wish they did decaf drinks and a vegetarian option. (Cheese and onion pasty?) Update - back again still the same, very friendly staff, and lovely food. Still no veggie options or decaf. 😀

Nicely cooked food and great service. I enjoyed the plaice and my wife enjoyed the scampi. Batter was crispy, portion size generous. Will definitely return!

Can not fault the quality of the overall experience. Fish and Chips made simple but the quality of the food was 10/10. The batter on the fish was light and tasty and left little grease on the plate. The fish was flaky but stayed together to go on the fork to your mouth. Chips were cooked well and not greasy in the slightest. Service was excellent and the energy of the host was on point. Overall could not fault the place. Value for money. We used to go to No1 in Cromer but got sick of the quality and the overpricing of the food. We have found our new spot for fish and chips whenever we visit Norfolk. Thank you to Dave and his lovely staff.

Called in here today for my lunch and ordered large cod regular chips and a large curry sauce, the chap behind the counter showed me the pot size and we decided 2 pots of curry sauce were in order lol Instead of one large cod, I was given 2 battered cod and they were both cooked to perfection, the cod was pure white and meaty, the batter was crisp and light, the chips were lightly crisp outside and the curry sauce was spot on, thick and spicy as it should be. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the area.

Today 17/8/24 I had the best plaice and chips ever. I must confess I don't often eat fish and chips nowadays but this was superb. Beautiful batter and a wonderful piece of fish. Keep up the good work and I wish you every success for the future. See you again soon. Thank you.

best fish and chips I have had in years fish was amazing full of flavour it melted in my mouth I ordered large cod when I unwrapped my food thought it was a whale really big I will be back ASAP and will be telling my friends to visit here

Sheringham has lots of Fish and Chip shops and on spur of moment decided to have some ourselves, not knowing which one is the better one, as all had queues, however we chose Dave's, down a side street, and WOW, best fish and chips we have had, the chips were gorgeous, well worth a cheat, and the batter on the fish was not that normal thick stuff, which I don't normally eat, but this time was light and had its own taste and scoffed it all, piping hot, we will return to this when we need them again, even if it means travelling the 10 miles and we have ones closer, well worth it.

Great fish, chips soggy. We had a wait while they got a large order out. Unfortunately the Pineapple fritter batter was stuck to chips, it would be good to have it separate.

Went as a group of 10, and we were quickly seated in the restaurant together. The fish and chips was great quality and plenty of it 5*
