Dave's Fish Restaurant in North Norfolk

The best fish and chips in Sheringham. We stay in the area at least twice per year and eat in the restaurant at Dave’s each time we stay. The staff are always, without fail, fantastic and the service is excellent. As for the food…super fresh fish, delicious chips and always perfectly cooked and served in generous portions. Our four year old is also a fan and particularly loves the fish shaped plates and the curry sauce.

Great tasty fish and chips and very reasonably priced! Fast and efficient service as well! Would highly recommend and we will be returning when we come back to Sheringham!

Last time we visited Dave's, which has an excellent reputation, we were disappointed by average fish and poor chips. We decided that anyone can have an off day so revisited today. The staff were great, both times we had arrived close to closing time and both times we well received. This time the welcome was especially friendly, service was quick and professional. My wife had curry sauce and chips, our friend had fishcakes and chips and I had cod and chips. Apart from the chips the rest of the food was very good, my fish especially so. Unfortunately the chips seemed a little old and not crispy fresh but they were perfectly edible. The cup of tea was perfect. The staff remained super nice and friendly throughout. Overall we would definitely return and try to arrive before closing time! I would recommend Dave's.

I love DAVES FISH BAR as the fish and chips are lovely the best chippie you can go to as I've been going there since the Seventies so get down there now!

Do not be put off by the look from the outside, this is the best fish and chips available in the area, probably one of the best in the U.K. it’s not posh inside, but it’s comfortable, tables are well spaced and there’s carpet and comfortable seating, they even serve wine! I have had cod and chips at dozens of places in North Norfolk and the only place comparable is the Number One at Cromer, but that’s so much more expensive. Dave’s place is a gem, fish is really fresh and perfectly cooked. Batter is thin and crispy, chips are real potatoes and not oven chips. Shame they don’t do garden peas, only mushy, but well worthy of 5 stars, it’s really friendly inside too

Wow. Again Dave’s Fish Bar did not disappoint. Both the fish and the chips were amazing. If you need Fish and Chips, this is the place to go.

Really good fish and chips, looked cooked to order by a busy and efficient team. Had haddock in the absence of rock, chips, a pineapple fritter and a fishcake (the latter being a real surprise - absolutely delicious).

This was our first visit to this fish n chips restaurant. Only situated a few metres from the high street, this is a gem. The service by Hannah was very friendly, attentive, and efficient. The food was plentiful and tasted as well as it looked. The senior portions of fish n chips at £9 were more than enough for my three friends, and my large cod was enormous. Yes I do mean enormous. The next time we want fish n chips in Sheringham there is only one place to go. It has to be Dave's Fish bar in which there is a large seating area.

Excellent meals, we went twice during our 3 day visit to the town. If we ever visit Sherringham again we know where we will be eating.

Turned up on off chance on Mother's day squeezed us in and so glad they did best Fish and chips for a very long time better than various establishments that have won awards in that area

We walked in off the street just before 12 and were very lucky to nab the last table. Booking recommended - perhaps half term made something of a difference but this place is popular. With good reason - the fish tasted fresh and was cooked in a light batter and the chips were made with tasty potatoes. Portions are enormous; I could only eat half the plate. They offer half portions of chips which is worth remembering!

Haven't tried all the Fish & Chip places in Sheringham, no need to, Dave's is one of places that you find that is so good, why go elsewhere. The staff are friendly, polite and helpful, service is quick and the food is great, freshly cooked and not greasy at all. Portion size is perfect and the prices are very good. Whenever we visit Sheringham and fancy Fish & Chips, it's always Dave's.

Excellent fish and chips never seen a portion of chips like it huge

Food was fairly priced but no more than average for gluten free. Sign on the wall says speak to the staff regarding food intolerances but I was only offered fish with no batter for gluten free. Gluten free batter is easy to source and there are some really good ones so there should be no excuse. Also, I asked for plant based 'milk' for tea and there was none!

Friendly service with old fashioned diner-style decor, tasty fish with huge amounts of fat chips. When we were there, there was a small lunchtime rush and we were politely, but promptly, given the bill. Still, it's £10.50 for a generous helping of fish and chips!

They open from 12-2pm for lunch, card payment only for dine-in. Service is very cheerful and helpful. We had haddock/cod with chips; I swapped the chips for mushy peas. Very rich and heavy meal but superb. Fish is very fresh and sweet. Prices are very, very affordable. Has amenities. We parked some 15 minutes walk away , but the nearest car park would be the smallish Morris St carpark. Good once in a while indulgence (calories wise).

Utterly, utterly wonderful fish and chips. The best for miles and miles. The fish fillets are perfect and generous. I don't think I have ever had a fillet that's less than an inch thick!( Hey dad, ease up, ...by the way we have gone metric!) Oh right, sorry, I don't think I have ever had a fillet less than 26mm thick! Always perfect in every way. As a comparison in delight, this is Taylor swift, naked, liberally covered in marmite, smiling at you just... ( Dad!, dad! I think you should stop there. I think they get the message. Yes, Dave's fish bar is brilliant) Sorry about that!!!

Second time of eating at Dave’s fishbar. Service was friendly and fast. I loved the plates, cups and saucers. The food was excellent, hot and delicious, also great value for money. Definitely a go to when in Sheringham.

Just the best fish and chips in the town as far as I am concerned. My friend and I called in out of the cold this week. I had haddock and chips and as always it was to die for. Friendly staff and great value. You can eat in or take away but either way you won’t be disappointed. Denise x

Best fish and chips we have had for a long time. Chips were perfectly cooked and the cod light and flakey. So good in fact we went back 2 days later.

By far the best in Sheringham sadly some ‘friends’ turned up the other week with ‘fish and chips’ from another chip shop - rubbish - this week we had them arrive for proper food - Daves was excellent, the fish magic and chips plus curry...

Had lunch on Saturday, the portions were large, really well cooked and presented, the staff were warm and friendly, comfy and clean restuarant, good value for money

Brilliant little place. Can eat inside for almost same price as takeaway. Staff so friendly with everyone and very helpful. Fish was BIG and so tasty. Not on the main road so look for it. Well worth the slight effort.

Despite saying it closes at 7.30 when we arrived at 6.31 they would not serve us in the restaurant. Very annoyed as we specifically checked closing times as we had come from Cambridge 😡

We went at 5pm on a Saturday, very busy. We both had the Daves special. Cod, chips, peas, bread and butter, pot of tea £12.60. Excellent value, great food and good service. Could not fault it.

Had cod and chips plus a fishcake. This one portion did 2 of us. We used takeaway on Friday 22 September and really enjoyed our meal. Decent prices, such a shame our holiday finished the following day.

Amazing scampy. When you take away you need to get cash out but there's one need by at the Sainsbury's local. Everyone really enjoyed their chippy.

Dined in, hubby had the large cod and chips, it was massive, cooked to perfection, good service, couldn't fault it, also had take away and ate it on the seafront, absolutely lovely, plaice was gorgeous, best chippy in Sheringham.

Had take away on this occasion but have sat in for meals, always very welcoming the food is cooked well and at a reasonable price

Although the fish and chips were good the size of the portions for the price was a bit mean. The fish was on the small size and the large chips was not much bigger than the small in my opinion. Four fish and 1 large...

Had 2 large cod and chips mushy peas and curry sauce. The cod was cooked beautifully and was massive with thick chunks. This is a proper chippy that serves great food for a good price in a pleasant environment.

Such great service from the lady yesterday at around 5pm. We were feeding our baby when the food came, she popped over and said she could take the food away and keep it warm for us. She was so attentive and kind. Food was fantastic. Can't wait to go again!

Good fish and chip takeaway a little off to the side. Some people might miss this place but it's good and probably better than most of the places down the high street. Service was quick and efficient. Food was good. Also, the staff were very accommodating for a couple of more challenging customers who were there whilst I was being served.

Checked out the reviews for fish & chips and Dave’s was highly rated. There were 5 of us and we all really enjoyed the fish and chips. Food cooked fresh and it was worth the little wait and its tastes great. Good valve for money and helpful staff. The dog love the leftovers. Just to note it’s cash only.

Been going here on and off for 30 years it's no better than any other local chippy just nice to know it's all ways there,and there quality is always good,another good thing cash only, more should do the same we need cash in system

Having darkened the doorway to Dave's fish bar in Co-operative Street on countless occasions over the last 20 years, I can say beyond any doubt, that during my extensive travels of the UK that this is the best Fish and chips shop in the land....

We had takeaway fish and chips from Dave’s and sat on the wall looking out to sea. They were very good with nice crisp batter and freshly cooked to order. Next time in Sheringham and needing fish and chips we will head to Dave’s!

The 6 of us had a mix of fish, pie and sausages with chips. All was great. The fish was so thick and delicious. Some of the best takeaway fish and chips we have had. Cheaper than at home too!

It's not an obvious spot to visit for fish and chips as it's tucked away off the high street but this is definitely worth visiting. All the fish and chips are fried in beef dripping so the chips are crispy and tasty and the fish batter is amazing. They are also really accommodating, making up a smaller portion for us for lunch. Prices are cheap as, well, chips. The only potential downsides are that they only accept cash and the ambience is 1970s but I liked that. Finally, they're so close to the front that you can have your fish and chips by the sea.

Quite a popular little restaurant, we came at rush hour and had to return half hour later which was no problem. Food was great so was the service. We stayed quite a while chatting amongst ourselves after they closed but didn't move us on. Thoroughly enjoyed.
