The best fish and chips I've had.

As others have written in their reviews, it was the best fish and chips I've ever had 🥰 No unpleasant smell of fish, the meat was plump and the batter was crispy. The curry sauce was delicious. The staff at the restaurant were very friendly and made the dinner a pleasant experience!

Lived local for 80 years i often recall the delicious fish and chips we had in Yarmouth when we were kids i have just had plaice and chips in Daves that equaled or maybe beat that taste .I would say the quality of the fish and batter combined with perfect cooking and polite service could not be bettered anywhere and we tried the fish and chips in many places including Whitby well done Daves

Absolutely awful cod here this evening, undercooked tasteless cod with greasy soggy batter, ended up in bin, really annoys me that these kind of businesses are happy to sell you crap like this when it’s so expensive, very hard finding decent chippys these days. Chips were ok but swimming in grease from the cod on top.

Oh dear what a disappointment ……. Soggy batter and so greasy. Maybe a bad day but expected much better…. will be trying other places now.

Best fish and chips ever. Perfect thin and crispy battery. No grease and wonderful staff. You can eat in or takeaway and the prices are so reasonable and the quality of the fish is unbeatable. Shame it's not in Cromer.

Great experience ordering at daves fish bar. Ordered the large cod and chips xs 2 and wow what a surprise when I got back to the car and me and my wife opened it up to find out the portion size was enough to feed a family of 3 per meal. The food tasted great very fresh and the fish was lovely and flakey. Thank you daves fish we will make 10 mile trip to see you again.

Great service Great food Outstanding value for money I had Dave's special and my wife had the senior special, everything on our plates tasted great (Cooked properly in dripping). Good generous portions too. Service was superb, all the staff were incredibly polite. I'd highly recommend Dave's Fish and Chips and the next time we're in Sheringham, we'll be calling in here again for our tea

Been here a couple of times now, and personally I wouldn't go anywhere else for fish and chip dinner . Their restaurant fish and chips meal deal is excellent value for money. You can tell this as always people queuing outside to get in. Staff are brilliant and above all the fish and chips are delicious. And the curry sauce yummy. Highly recommend. And can't wait to go back to Sheringham for the fish&chips again.

We were staying in Sheringham for a few nights and wanted to have fish n chips on the Friday evening. We asked the landlady of our B&B, also a local we were taking to later on in the town where they would go for good fish n chips and they both recommended Dave's immediately. It's tucked a bit out of the way, off the main High Street so we probably wouldn't have found it otherwise. The recommendations were spot on. These fish n chips are outstanding. The fish in particular was superb. Light crispy batter over delicious, beautifully cooked white fish. The chips were good, but if I'm being super critical, not as outstanding as the fish, but better than a lot of restaurants serve up. Hence the 4 and not all 5 stars. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient and to to all this off, the price was very reasonable. Don't go anywhere else for your fish n chips in Sheringham

Our go to place when we're in Sheringham. Beautifully fresh, well cooked and tasty. Very reasonably priced too.

Excellent, been to lots of chip shops over the last 30 years from Northumberland to Suffolk and this is one of the best on the coast, had a Dave special, sausage special both were superb hopefully we get back there before we return home

Big queue for takeaway, which was a good sign of the quality. Restaurant was empty, we ordered and the food was brought to table very quickly (less than 5 mins) and was hot and tasty. Thanks. Update - back again, still very nice, just wish they did decaf drinks and a vegetarian option. (Cheese and onion pasty?) Update - back again still the same, very friendly staff, and lovely food. Still no veggie options or decaf. 😀

Very large portions and delicious

Nicely cooked food and great service. I enjoyed the plaice and my wife enjoyed the scampi. Batter was crispy, portion size generous. Will definitely return!

Can not fault the quality of the overall experience. Fish and Chips made simple but the quality of the food was 10/10. The batter on the fish was light and tasty and left little grease on the plate. The fish was flaky but stayed together to go on the fork to your mouth. Chips were cooked well and not greasy in the slightest. Service was excellent and the energy of the host was on point. Overall could not fault the place. Value for money. We used to go to No1 in Cromer but got sick of the quality and the overpricing of the food. We have found our new spot for fish and chips whenever we visit Norfolk. Thank you to Dave and his lovely staff.

Called in here today for my lunch and ordered large cod regular chips and a large curry sauce, the chap behind the counter showed me the pot size and we decided 2 pots of curry sauce were in order lol Instead of one large cod, I was given 2 battered cod and they were both cooked to perfection, the cod was pure white and meaty, the batter was crisp and light, the chips were lightly crisp outside and the curry sauce was spot on, thick and spicy as it should be. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the area.

Today 17/8/24 I had the best plaice and chips ever. I must confess I don't often eat fish and chips nowadays but this was superb. Beautiful batter and a wonderful piece of fish. Keep up the good work and I wish you every success for the future. See you again soon. Thank you.

best fish and chips I have had in years fish was amazing full of flavour it melted in my mouth I ordered large cod when I unwrapped my food thought it was a whale really big I will be back ASAP and will be telling my friends to visit here

Sheringham has lots of Fish and Chip shops and on spur of moment decided to have some ourselves, not knowing which one is the better one, as all had queues, however we chose Dave's, down a side street, and WOW, best fish and chips we have had, the chips were gorgeous, well worth a cheat, and the batter on the fish was not that normal thick stuff, which I don't normally eat, but this time was light and had its own taste and scoffed it all, piping hot, we will return to this when we need them again, even if it means travelling the 10 miles and we have ones closer, well worth it.

Great fish, chips soggy. We had a wait while they got a large order out. Unfortunately the Pineapple fritter batter was stuck to chips, it would be good to have it separate.

Always go to Dave's fish and chips in Sheringham when we can, love them, always so fresh and the fish is gorgeous, wish they were nearer to Romford where we live

Lovely fish and chips. I haven't given it 5 stars because (in my opinion) the chips could have seen the fryer for a little bit longer. However, I would still recommend it as the fish was lovely quality.

Nice food (takeaway) ate it all, although portions not massive. Food could have done with another minute in the fryer as chips quite pale and batter was soggy

Worst food ever had in Norfolk. Soggy greasy chips that stuck to the paper wrapping Soggy greasy fish also stuck to the wrapping ALL BIZARRELY TASTED LIKE A SUNDAY ROAST BEEF. Is there anywhere in SHERINGHAM that can cook fresh food that tastes nice, five days in and yet to.find one . Thai restaurant average Two lifeboats expensive frozen pub fayre same for the Crown pub . Better of with an ice cream

We wanted the best fish & chips in Sheringham & my husband was ‘observing’ all week. We had seen queuing every day at lunchtime and evening + in their very full cafe when it rained (British weather). Dave’s did not let us down, very busy, very friendly and delicious. Definitely worth walking the extra 10 yards for 🐾😎

Having tried Dave's takeaway fish and chips last year whilst on a day trip to Sheringham, we were so impressed that this time we ate in the restaurant. The food , service and atmosphere could not be faulted. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Having chosen two Senior specials of cod and plaice, with bread and butter and a pot of tea,our meal arrived quickly, was very hot and delicious with fresh tasting fish in a light crispy batter and golden chips. Although it was busy, we felt we had the time to enjoy our meal and there was a pleasant atmosphere throughout. The tables were cleaned and immediately relaid after every customer vacated them. The toilets were very clean and obviously serviced well. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and are already planning the next one during the summer. Many thanks!

Just bought haddock and chips to takeaway. This was the best fish and chips we’ve ever had. No watery fish thick and tasty with lovely batter. Chips just as we like them. Wish I lived here to have them more often Will definitely be our go to place when we are in Sheringham next Staff also friendly

Really helpful waiting lady who was happy to let us order a smaller meal for my good lady who just can’t manage a full sized portion. The fish was fried to perfection and the chips and sides were 1st rate too. Good value and great food with friendly efficient staff 5* chippy 😊

Proper little gem of a place. Great service and food at a very reasonable price for a seaside restaurant.

Battered Burger, chips and curry sauce…it was outstanding!! You must try this place, it’s just off the high street, although cash only it’s well worth the visit!!

The service is brilliant fast and friendly, good size portions of fish and chips, tasty battered sausages, comes with bread and butter also a pot of tea, good baked beans too. We go every week now, always get a good table, nice and clean.

We take a trip from Norwich to Dave's Fish Bar & Restaurant every two weeks during the summer and most times we get a table,but when they are very busy we sit outside and have them out of the paper. To be honest we think they are the best fish and chips in Norfolk,with friendly staff a good choice of meals we can't beat. What more can you ask for.

This was truly the best fish and chips we’ve had for many years. The fish was fabulous - full of flavour and coated in the lightest batter. Portion sizes are excellent and service friendly and efficient. Will certainly be back and recommend to anyone wanting fish and chips in Sheringham.

We chose to eat in as in my opinion, fish and chips don't travel well; they're inclined to 'sweat' and loose their freshness. Pleased that we did (eat in). Couldn't fault it. Super-fast and polite service, really crunchy batter on plump white cod. And more. Glad we went out of our way. Mr and Mrs M.

Last day of our holiday we had fish and chips from Dave's Chippy. Cod chips mushy peas and curry sauce. Asked for large fish ... soggy batter that stuck to the paper unfortunately but we got 2 fish each and omg it tasted amazing. The curry sauce also was the best we've ever had...nice and thick not runny like some. If we ever visit Sheringham again will definitely order from here.

Excellent return to English fish and chips after 23 years in the USA.

What a gem of a place, hands down the best for miles. The size of the portion was massive, the batter was light and crispy. The fish had large flakes of white gold. Well recommend.
