Floor was filthy, had to ask for table to be cleaned, was given a cup with dried paint on the rim. No milk given with tea. Would have given a zero if it were possible.

If I could give a rating of zero i would do. I have never been greeted so rudely in all my life. When I arrived at 3 45pm on a Saturday and popped my head into the shop to ask if they took orders outside, I was told in short, clearly annoyed tones that they weren't serving anyone else because they were shut because they were too busy. There were FOUR people in. When I tried to double check I had heard correctly, the tone was clearly..you heard me! Avoid it, go up the road to Sophie's and get treated properly like we did.

nice crepe and coffee BUT we were eating at a table on the pavement and had to use wooden cutlery (try cutting a crepe with a wooden knife). Worse, when we returned the disposables inside the staff for the restaurant told us to dispose of it in the Council bin. Not acceptable !!!!! If it's eat in, it;s not takeaway !! Also, very small amount of garnish - one mouthful of salad and about 8 crisps.....

I popped in the other day, to get some lunch while in town. Staff were pleasant and seemed nice but food and drink were poor. Latte was watery and not properly made especially for 3 quid, it was worse than Greggs coffee I had quesadilla with bbq pork, normally 10 quid (cheaper because of the current national food promotion). Served with bland rice, overly vinegared salad. Pork was ok. But the quesadilla wasn't like a good quesadilla crisp on the outside with soft well-melted cheese on the inside. Instead, it was stodgy, basically a warmed wrap, with minimal seasoning. I felt like I was on an episode of kitchen nightmares poking through the stodgy bread mess with my issued wooden fork. For a tenner the quesadilla should be better.

The few times I've been here before I've had good experiences, & I think sometimes bad reviews can be unfair, but after leaving & re-evaluating, I do think the service I had was pretty poor - all for being vegan. Usually there's a full vegan menu, not at the moment which is understandable, but the staff were very unhelpful & didn't list what I could have, but instead just had me guess. In the end the girl wasn't even sure what my options were & had to ask, all while everyone seemed way too busy to make time for me & just made me feel like an inconvenience when I asked something. The food was very tasty, but sadly the experience didn't make me want to return. I was definitely overcharged & if that's because it was made vegan then I don't think that's fair given that they have chosen to cater for different diets. A great shame.

Visited Darwins to celebrate the 18th birthday of my goddaughter. An early evening booking but the place was heaving and the noise levels were such that for myself, with hearing aids and another guest who suffers from tinnitus conversation was impossible. Staff seemed to be dispirited and lacking in enthusiasm and had to be chased 3 times before a round of drinks which had been ordered was finally delivered. The menu was limited and some desert items were not available (at 7pm!). Chips were overcooked and dry, rum babas were completely dry and had to be returned etc, etc. Darwins seems to be trying to please all of the people all of the time and needs to make up its mind when it's a pub or a restaurant. This was pub grub at its worst. I would not recommend it.

I came here with my parents for a light lunch whilst on a short break in Shropshire. They are fussy eaters so it was good to find a place where they were happy. It's a small establishment but friendly. The food was fine. The toilet requires a slightly challenging ascent to the top floor. There were builders working on the adjacent property when I was there, which had a certain amusement factor.

We had a while to wait for a taxi so decided to stop off for a crepe to pass the time. I'm happy to put on record what Shrewsbury lacks in public transport on a match day they more than make up for in high quality food. Once our deserts arrived the staff were friendly and also really helpful in trying their best to get us transport. The crepe's were cooked to perfection with real melted chocolate. Myself and my children highly recommend this place for pudding, we were lucky to find it. (oh, we did make it to the footie as well: 1-1.)

Stayed with friends in 2 twin rooms. I would say that the Garden rooms are not quite as nice as those in the main hotel. Very conveniently situated although tricky to find the way in by car due to the one way system. Car park very close by although you have to buy a ticket by 8am (I think £4 for the day?) after your night at the hotel to avoid getting a parking penalty.Breakfast excellent and cooked fresh when you go into the lovely conservatory dining room. Super garden with lots of chairs, sunbeds, and tables, so we were able to enjoy our free bottle of classy delicious Prosecco (included in the Travelzoo deal, per room) in the sunshine when we arrived after retail therapy in the afternoon. Would certainly stay again.

I was walking through Shrewsbury looking for a light lunch and after about 25 minutes of looking at menus from larger restaurants I spotted Darwin's. Why did I go in? I guess it was because it did not look pretentious - some of its nearby competitors did. I went in and was greeted and sat down. There are two tables downstairs with more seating upstairs. There is also outside seating. There are a range of crepes both sweet and savoury on their menu which also included toasted sandwiches and paninis. I chose a cheese and ham crepe and a pot of tea. The crepe was cooked to order and arrived within minutes piping hot with a fresh side salad . It was perfect. The service was good and unfussy. The crepe was very filling and also excellent value for money. I will certainly return.

Visited Shrewsbury for the day on a weekend break to the area. We came across this lovely quaint cafe place that served crepes along side other lunch options. We sat upstairs away from the hustle and bustle of the serving area. I had a savoury crepe with side salad; which I enjoyed as it was something a bit different. Ian was slightly disappointed that there was not a gluten free option for the crepe. However there was a gluten free sandwich option, which he had with the coronation chicken, which he enjoyed as there was plenty of mayo and a nice spicy flavour to it. We also had a cocktail each, which was nice and refreshing on a hot day.
