I should have not bothered after being greeted down side entrance of about 4x staff having a smoking break. Overpriced underwhelming and tasteless food. The wings used to be the main reason for eating here and these are awful and don't even resemble louisiana hot wings plus the celery was not fresh and blue cheese dip had curdled.

Absolutely delicious. Well worth the money I paid for myself. And will/would undoubtedly go back again. Lucky me have one back home in huddersfield.

Dined in on a Wednesday night when the weather was good and the restaurant was fairly busy. Nice setting next to the river, enhanced by a nice, warm evening. The food was tasty and the portion sizes were good. Service could have been better. I had to get up and order at the counter because there was no sign of a waiter. Same when settling the bill.

Fab food fab friendly staff, great service We were served by Brooke today,very friendly and helpful. I went with her recommendation of bird and beast burger. AMAZING. we also got to try the taster smoked brisket which was very tasty....gutted and no room for desserts. Raspberry and mint lemonade is definitely worth a try

We booked a table for 7 pm on the Friday before and received a phone call on Wednesday to confirm our booking. When we arrived, the staff were friendly and accommodated us outside, as the westher was fantastic. Drink order taken within minutes and popcorn and water brought too, without asking. Placed our food order to friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. They boxed up our left overs and didn't rush us at all. I am looking forward to the one opening in Stafford now.

Great night out here again. Food was amazing and well portioned, getting slightly busy when there which did see a slight drop in service. Other than that cant fault the place

Not the best! Starters were nice enough. Boyfriend had Buffalo wings and I had corn dogs. Our mains were very disappointing, ribs and chicken burger both. Staff were all very nice. Cocktails and cloudy lemonade were also good but on arrival there was live music which we hadn't been made aware of when booking over the phone and we couldn't hear our server at all!

First and last visit to this place. The so called rhubarb gin was tasteless, the rack of ribs was abysmal, hardly any meat on them , pickles were so strong couldn’t eat them and skin on fries were dry.

Nice place. The service was great. We only had a starter & a drink (our choice, we were limited for time). They are dog friendly too which is a must for us.

Absolutely fantastic evening. I had the Mac n cheese with southern fried chicken and maple syrup, delicious ! Staff were really friendly and helpful and there was a singer so the atmosphere was great. 👌

Was placed upstairs again not sure if this is a family area. We have two Children but older now so we'll behaved. Surrounded by young louder children. So it took away some of the atmosphere in my opinion. Never seem to be given an option on seat location. The venue wasn't overly full. But the food was very nice.

This is our go-to place when in Shrewsbury. Good food, good service, nice atmosphere, friendly/efficient staff, and not too expensive either. Being able to walk-in if you haven't booked is really helpful too, especially if you're not sure what time you'll get there....but booking is advised. Be it breakfast, lunch or dinner, it's always good food. Plus with comfy seats and something always on the TVs, it's a nice atmosphere to enjoy your food to.

Just out from one place after drink but couldn't stop myself to enjoy another drink from this awesome place. Very beautiful outdoor seating area and love the beautiful ceiling. Send my friend in for grabbing drinks while enjoy myself out. Food smell from next table was dragging me to go for dinner here but we already booked our table somewhere. Sure coming back for tasting food.

Lovely food service and atmosphere

Visited today with my husband. What a warm welcome by Alan. The food was really good and big portions. The extra additions of popcorn, water and a surprise decorated board with cream doughnuts lit up to celebrate our wedding anniversay was a nice touch brought by the waitress. Definatley be going back when visiting Shrewsbury.

Good tasting food Busy and expensive though. Staff kept making mistakes although they were nice.

Ate here today for the first time & wow what a lovely experience! From the initial fun welcome by Alan to the fabulous menu & surroundings - wish we'd had longer to enjoy a full meal but our Hog Heaven and Southern Fried Chicken Waffle went a long way towards filling us up! Thank you to all the wonderful team - already looking forward to stopping in again!

Really nice location along the river. Restaurant is well-themed but felt a little cramped. Food was good but the menu is very meat-based and very heavy so not so great for vegetarians or people looking for a light bite. Our server was lovely, couldn't recommend her enough.

Staff were brilliant and food was ok .....but the place at shrewsbury could do with a damn good clean.

3 of us ate there. 2 were sick overnight, the other had diarrhoea and had to run out of a client meeting to be sick the next day. Can't recommend.

I enjoyed the food but my company were not too well after indulging in the array of sweet sauces used un everything.

I'm sure the atmosphere here is tremendous, but we arrived at opening time, never the less the food was bang on 💯💯👍🏾.

In all food was delicious and very good service

We came here for Lunch and it was fantastic! We had the smokehouse platter between 2 of us and there was so much food! We took what we couldn't finish home with us in a takeaway box. We sat outside in the covered area with our 2 dogs. Dogs are allowed inside but we chose to sit outside. There are blankets for when it's cold. The waiter was really attentive to us and our dogs and even brought them a piece of brisket each! If you're ever in Shrewsbury, eat here!

We arrived without a reservation and was seated promptly, but advised that where we were sat we wouldn't have table service and would have to order at the bar when we were ready, which was fine. Our food arrived quickly and was delicious as always. Our only complaint is we thought it was a bit cheeky to add on a service charge when we didn't have table service.

The atmosphere, the small details of the decoration is just wonderful. Food is also delicious, maybe a little bit on the pricier side but the experience itself worth it all in my opinion. Would definitely come back :)

I miss the old menu which had specials for each day. We did have plenty of options then. Anyhow the portion which i ordered last evening filled to adult stomachs which was 1 appetizer and 1 main with a pint of beer and a vanilla milkshake

Only stopped for some drinks but will definitely go back for food if we are in the area again. We recommend this place to friends based on the service and atmosphere alone and our friends had a lovely evening meal there.

We came on a Saturday night as a walk-in, we were seated very quickly at the bar area where you can see into the kitchens. Firstly the staff and service were top rate. Despite it being busy and their being plenty of staff, we weren't asked the same questions by different staff members(so annoying) our food orders were taken, came out hot and fresh, and friendly. These standards of Good service seem to be lost in so many restaurants. The food was fresh, hot and delicious. The restaurant was clean and I appreciated the rolls of kitchen towel neatly displayed on the bar. The only recommendation I could suggest is that the ladies loo had a little attention. Well done to the staff who make this restaurant. Will definitely be returning.

First time at Hickory's and it was really nice. We were told the protocol and was led upstairs on to the balcony . There was plenty of space between the tables and we had a great view down below.(great for people watching)The service was excellent with plenty of waiters to help us with our order.On the table you will find the Hickory newspaper which is actually the menu,nice touch.We had the pulled pork and the chicken burger ,both became with fries and then finished off sharing the waffle and ice-cream,it was a great meal.All round perfect.Just eaten at Hickory's again,this time sat on the outside terrace.Again the service was excellent,great food,free popcorn and 3 choices of Pale Ale.Big thanks to Charles who made this possible.The Big Pig burger and the Chicken burger was excellent as was the chips.We will return.

Great place for Sunday brunch. There was a slight issue with the " bottomless coffee " but after courteous discussion with waitress issue was solved and refund made. Brunch food was excellent, service friendly and atmosphere good. We visited with 2 toddlers who were well catered for. Thanks for a great morning.

Had a great family meal here for my birthday. Food was great and the service was excellent. Young girl even got me a cake and sang happy birthday to me. Only downside is we were sat at the back with all the young families. This isn't a problem but with kids running round while u trying to eat isn't nice. It's why we decided against dessert. I'd go again but I'd definitely sit somewhere else

Visited a couple of weeks ago and the whole experience was incredible. The food was amazing, so much so that we had to forgo dessert because we were so happily full from our main meal. The gent who served us was awesome, he was so polite and friendly, and even interacted with my son in such a warm way, my son felt he had made a new friend. Cannot recommend enough!

Beautiful southern fried chicken fillets (possibly the best I've ever tried) and really nice brisket. Just wish the portions were bigger as it's expensive for what you get! Lovely decor and service too.

Best place ever !! The atmosphere was beautiful and amazing. The staff was all time lovely and friendly to everyone ,the food was all brilliant and delicious. I loved how popcorn and free water was given to us when we entered. Overall would recommend this place for all friends and family

Excellent venue, food was superb.

Went for breakfast, my waitress was so kind and helpful and food was amazing but we sat in the back, which is fine, but all we could hear the whole time was a lady shouting at the top of her voice ‘YES PLEASE’ for the servers to run food. Me and my partner also picked up that she was rude to the servers running the food. Our dining experience was lovely other than that though.

Had a great meal and fantastic service while on holiday, just a shame when I checked my bank I had been charged £87 for a pig slider, ribs and 2 soft drinks. Advice to others be aware. May I add Hickory's got in touch and very quickly sorted out a £39 refund and complimentary drinks for our next visit.

Take a while to post this review as been so angry came to hickory’s first time and had to complain due to lack of food. Was invited back by the manager the second we walked into the door it was obvious that everyone knew we were the couple that complained we were patronised and the allergy flag police were in full force to the point an allergy flag was put into a cider we had ordered which hadn’t happened the last time. The complaint was never about the allergy issue just the amount of food we received for the money. Overhead a waiter say to another waiter “if these two aren’t happy then god knows what we can do” the girl serving us was lovey however sadly didn’t get her name.

We all ways take our kids here for their birthday meal and have the best food and service. But this time it was not their best the kids and my partner asked for pop cron afew times for the kids and it never come we had the table for 2 hours and not once did a member of staff ask if we wanted any drinks so had to go to the bar every time. It was our girls 10 th birthday the staff that sing happy birthday got her name wrong and give the cake to the wrong child We always pay the tip jar but this time I asked for it to be removed as the staff just did not care about the customer service

Good food and good service. They have big burgers and the quantities are really good. The best one to try is the go big or go home burger.

Dad's birthday was fantastic staff even came out with a donut and a candle and sang happy birthday was a great night

Edit - Has really gone downhill. Every time we have been here in the past the service has been ok at best. However this most recent time it has been absolutely abysmal. We attempted to order two frozen raspberry daiquiris, a drink we have ordered multiple times in the past without issue, and this time we are told no. We settle on frozen strawberry daiquiris as an alternative... Which then take 10-15 minutes to arrive and by this point they are no longer frozen. Which wouldn't have been an issue apart from the fact the these ended up being extremely sweet; sickening even. But ultimately the two best drinks we have ever gotten. So of course we get a second round... Which equally takes 10-15 minutes, is melted, and this time is extremely tart and undrinkable. The corn dog starter is a solid choice. It's the only consistent dish. Our main was the single worse piece of garbage I've ever tasted. BBQ pulled pork and beans... Just without the BBQ, any form of juice or sauce, flavour, or pork... As it was mostly fat. Didn't really eat anything else on the plate for various reasons... Chips just don't taste good, the slaw is ok at best, and the pickles just get spicier and spicier. Both of us had a stomach ache at this point. Not a single member of staff bothered to check up on us or make any form of eye contact. We ended up leaving both of our plates there for a good 10-15 minutes before anyone even came over. Manager just came over with excuses as for the lack of quality or false advertising. Didn't want a fuss so just asked for the bill so we could leave... However they didn't bring the bill over. Instead we had to sit through the birthday routine only to get a birthday desert... With no cutlery. Staff ran off before we could ask them for anything and then ignored us. We ended up stealing a knife and fork from a nearby table just so I would have a chance at eating the donut, which had a mountain of cream on top, and ice cream. While I appreciate it was free, it really outlined how dire the service is. When we finally got the bill they did not even bring over one of the device to leave feedback as they usually do. Other tablets had the device so I suspect this was done to attempt to pad their numbers as we would have left a bad review. Hickory's has a great atmosphere with some great tasters however the level of service is lacking and the drinks are sub-standard.

Massively busy, possibly due to the downpour outside and no coats or brollies! However, quick and efficient service and the food was great.

Went here for a 50th birthday meal.whilst on holiday, enjoyed it that much we went back the following day as it was the last day of our holiday, the food was amazing, and served very quickly, the staff were all lovely and polite too, nothing was to much trouble, the toilets were nice and clean aswell

We stopped in for lunch on our drive to Snowdonia from London. The beef rib was absolutely phenomenal!

A really lovely experience. We were celebrating our Daughter's 5th birthday and the staff were amazing.

We got a table outside without booking on a Saturday at about midday and watch the world go by. Food was great & I found the prices of the food and drink to be reasonable.

Caitlin made the experience amazing for me yesterday. She explained how everything worked, how to order etc as this was my first time using Hickory's. She checked to make sure everything was OK with my food and got me further drinks and explained deserts etc and could not have done more than she did. I was blown away by her service and wanted to personally leave her a tip although she explained it's not possible. This I hope though goes someway to recognising what an amazing member of staff you have. Maybe she can be rewarded in someway as great customer service can be hard to find especially in younger people.

As a family we go quite often to the Shrewsbury Hickory’s. We always find the staff very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere in there is always lively and fun. We always have a great meal there and the menu has a good variety of dishes. Personally I would recommend the beef ribs as they are excellent! A large soft beef rib served with fries, Jack Daniels sauce, picked veg, creamy coleslaw and i always order a side of onion rings as they are divine! Would definitely recommend anyone who hasn’t been there to take the family and try it.

This is a great stop, especially good if you haven't booked anywhere on a weekend (it's a large place and they usually have a table). Good food, kids will love it, American sodas, milkshakes and for the adults, the cocktails are quite good too. Not great place to eat if you're a vegetarian.

Great food as always, service was brilliant and the setting outside onlooking the river are gorgeous.

A really average hickorys. Considering it was bigger than some, it lacked atmosphere although they did have a great female singer on. Food was ok, but my pulled pork was over shadowed by the beans that they were completely drowned in. Bathrooms weren't monitored as they'd had a group of teens who had used all the hand towels and strewn them all over the floor and they were also in the corridor in the way to the bathrooms(still there when we left). Ok establishment, but a lot of really nice alternative independent eateries all around Shrewsbury which would have been a better choice.

Amazing experience! Delicious food, very helpful and polite staff. This place made me to fall in love with maple glazed ribs.

Food wasn't great in my personal experience. Ordered a smash burger, and got what seemed to be a cheap processed burger van burger. Definitely wasn't smashed. Wouldn't care but it's also not cheap

My husband, myself snd two friends ate here. We had Brunch. The food is always good and the service is good. The one complaint I have is that the muffin on the breakfast muffin was not cooked. This is the second time at this Hickorys where the muffin has not been toasted. We go to Hickorys in Chester & the muffin is alway toasted. For us not toasting the muffin spoils the meal.

Was fantastic for a couple of years but lost its appeal. Owned by Greene King. Been over twenty times but not felt as welcoming in recent times. Used to go several times a month, now once in 6 weeks. Management not as friendly. Many staff changes often signify unhappy staff. Slower service.

Took my daughter for her 16th birthday. The food and service was amazing, our server Isiah was kind, polite, professional and quick. He organized singing Happy Birthday to my daughter which was added bonus. Highly recommend this place for all events.

This venue has been a welcome addition to the otherwise bland and limited offering that Shrewsbury has to offer. A packed and vibrant atmosphere with attentive & friendly staff clearly please couples, groups of friends and family patrons. It has always been busy when we have dined here and booking (especially at the weekends) is a must. The burgers are OK but do not rival those of the Beefy Boys venue also in town. The spicy chicken wings are seriously hot and this may well have affected my taste buds and enjoyment of the burger, but my overall impression was that it was pretty standard in nature. Good drinks menu and calorie rich deserts make for an indulgent and satisfying end to what was a pleasant trip to this popular destination restaurant. No doubt we shall return soon.

Staff & service were great from the off and it's clear that customer service is high on the agenda as every member of staff we engaged with were really great! Beef brisket sub is highly recommended! Food is so tasty!

Ordered a medium rare steak that arrived well done. When I sent it back I was made to feel like I was doing something wrong by all waiting staff, the manager even came back and told me it was perfectly med rare but I cut into the wrong bit... Waited while everyone else ate, then when steak arrived a second time it was medium well but couldn't bare to complain a 2nd time. Atmosphere was decent and everyone else's food was OK, but not outstanding. Unlikely to return. Chester Hickory's is much better from my experience.

The food here is amazing! The place is new so the service was a little slow, and forgot to offer us sauces, etc with our meal, which I'm hoping was just initial teething issues. It was a Friday night and there was live music which was really good, a tad loud in the restaurant as at times it felt like we were shouting at each other when we talked. But I would go back for the food alone. My daughter also said the cinema room was a little untidy - popcorn all over the floor, but it was busy and maybe we're due to clean it shortly.

We were welcomed by really nice, polite and genuinely friendly staff here. The atmosphere is awesome, really US-themed vibe. The food was incredible, I had the brisket, the wife had the beef short rib. The flavours were incredible. Would definitely recommend to anybody going into Shrewsbury!

Booked for 11 of us for 18th birthday.usually go to the Kingswinford hickorys. Two things you expect from hickorys great service/ atmosphere and great food. Service was terrible, for Wednesday night. The girl serving us could not break a smile, never mind a chat. Had to constantly ask and flag down anyone passing for drinks.then wait ages for them. Not great. Food was excellent which made up for it. Wish we had not of paid the 25 pound service tip now. Will be visiting Kingswinford in future bookings.
