Reubens Bar & BBQ in Shropshire

The staff was friendly and welcoming However all 3 of us had diarrhoea and food posining since yesterday and feel very unwell The prices are pretty good too nice atmosphere not too sure about the food ....

Absolutely horrific experience at Reuben’s. We dined as a family four - two adults, two young children. We were greeted by a young chap who didn’t even say hello as we walked through the door - just “have you booked?”. I was left stood at the till with two young children whilst he walked off. Another member of staff asked if we had been seen to and I said I don’t know - the original gentlemen then reappeared and ushered us to a table up the corner. There are no physical menus, we figured out for ourselves that we had to scan the piece of laminated paper with a QR code on in the middle of the table to bring up the menu. 20 minutes later a member of staff appeared and took a drinks order. First visit to the bathroom resulted in the door handle coming off in my hand. We thankfully did not get stuck, however I notified a member of staff and gave them the door handle to which he said “yeahhh we know”. Food took 35/40 minutes to come out after our orders were placed. Kids meals were okay, basic burger and chips and tinned sausage for a hot dog slathered with ketchup. Adult meals were revolting - we had jerk wings, large nachos with “pulled pork and pit beans” and the boneless platter. The jerk wings tasted like washing up liquid, the nachos had baked beans on them with packet sauces and the meat was cold and bland. The boneless platter was luke warm when it arrived. Not once did a member of staff come over to our table during our meal and ask if everything was okay. Second trip to the toilet with youngest child resulted in my husband and youngest getting stuck in the toilet for ten minutes. My husband knocked the door until someone finally opened it. He handed the member of staff the door handle and said “that’s no good is it” to which the staff member responded “yeah, I know, we need to get it fixed, it’ll be fine”. My youngest was absolutely terrified and beside herself. She came back to the table in floods of tears and not one member of staff asked if we were okay. A waitress was serving the table behind us (a large party of adults) and I asked her for two apple juices and a Pepsi as my youngest child was still very worked up and it took them 20 minutes to bring the drinks over. Unclear on how to pay the bill as nobody comes over to your table during service so we just had to stand in the middle of the “restaurant” and wait for a member of staff to appear as they are never anywhere to be seen. Honestly, I’ve had better service on McDonald’s car park from the click and collect service!! The food cost us £65 and it was disgraceful. Even upon paying the bill nobody asked how our food was, nobody asked if everything was okay. Staff need some serious retraining. No point advertising quiz nights and painting nights when you can’t get simple service and a good meal. Never again.

Great place for a family meal. We were expertly served by Tom and the team. Great value, REALLY tasty food, great atmosphere… what more could you want??

Recently had a meal out at Ruben's. The food was lovely. Our server Jessica was really great. Very helpful and nothing was to much trouble for her. Would recommend going here.

Guys, I ordered a delivery from you tonight at like 6.50, the app told me it would arrive at 7.50-8.10.... It arrived at 7.05/7.10 🥹😍 You're my superhero's. Very modern bar in the heart of Whitchurch. Good selection of well known and lesser known craft ales and lagers. Staff were attentive and polite (I think the main barman was called Tom). Food was traditional pub fair with a modern twist, very tasty and filling. Definitely be coming back!

We stopped off for lunch as we were in the area. Great place lovely atmosphere amazing food. Service from Tom was absolutely fantastic really friendly and knowledgeable about the food.

We stopped here for lunch whilst in the area for Santa Island and loved everything about it. The food was AMAZING, the service from Tom was extremely friendly and so helpful, he couldn’t do enough. The decor and vibe was fab and can’t fault anything about our experience. Great value for money and huge portions. We will defiantly be back!

What a lovely place, friendly happy staff, Nim and Cane I think. So much choice on the menu. Our food arrived hot and so tasty. The choice is great something for everyone. It was my granddaughters birthday treat, and you didn't let us down thank you we had a great time.

We had a lovely evening (as always) at Reubens. The food was delicious but our evening was made by Tom and Izzy who were extremely attentive, friendly and warm and smiley! They even bought a toy out to entertain our 1 year old. Thank you for a lovely evening - we will be back!

This was our first visit but certainly won't be the last, Rubén's is a little gem of a place with great food and drink at good prices. We had exceptional burgers and sides cooked excellently and exactly as ordered with Tom the manager and Izzy providing perfect hosting and fab service. We luckily chanced upon the last Friday of the month night live music night and we loved it, the atmosphere was amazing. We'd like to see a darker ale offered alongside the vast range of lagers and IPAs, wines and spirits. Thank you for a great night out!

Had a unpleasant experience at Rubens last night. The restaurant was so cold, we were sat next to 2 radiators which were stone cold, we had to sit and eat our meals in our coats which was very unpleasant and not how we wanted to spend our meal out. We ordered J20 from the drinks menu, when it arrived it looked too thick to be J20, didn’t taste like J20 and had bits in, so we took it back to the bar and explained we didn’t think it was right and requested a new one in a bottle. We were told that they ‘make their own J20’🤣 Definitely shouldn’t be falsely advertising a branded drink that they make themselves. We waited just over an hour for our food, the restaurant was not busy at all. We were told the wait was due to deliveries.. surely restaurants orders should have a priority over deliveries! We weren’t informed of such a wait either. When the food did arrive it was lovely, well presented, flavoursome and delicious. Just a shame the overall experience wasn’t good.

Great food and excellent service, we all had a different burger and we all loved them! Tom and Ellie were very attentive and polite, the atmosphere is really relaxed and friendly.

Really good service, seen straight away and all the staff polite and helpful, giving suggestions about pudding which turned out great as our waiter Tom recommended the Biscoff cheesecake and it was amazing! Very affordable. Big up to Tom!!

Fantastic discovery in Whitchurch. We know there are high brow Michelin restaurants in Whitchurch and plenty of takeaways, but this bar, hotel, and restaurant is a great, fun and tasty discovery in the backstreets of Whitchurch. Great burgers, ribs, pulled pork selection. But also vegetarian and vegan options. Friendly and efficient. Great beer selection. Cocktails and a nice covered terrace for evening drinkies.

Ordered a take away from Ruebens, big portion sizes and still very hot! Also ordered entirely through Facebook messenger! Excellent service!

We had a takeaway from reubens last week. Very prompt and friendly responses when we ordered via Facebook. Food was fantastic, the bacon double cheeseburger was on of the best I’ve had in a very long time! Ribs were delicious with great flavours, portion sizes were very generous (huge portion of nachos ) our loaded fries didn’t travel very well but we did live 25 minutes away and we knew that would be the case so order them if you live near by! Food was piping hot when we got home so we could dive straight in. Can’t wait to visit again!

Once again, we were not disappointed. During this lockdown we have had a fair few take outs from Reubens. And I see more on the horizon Nina and her team never fail to deliver. The food is always amazing, and the Covid measures put in place make me feel safe.Thank you Nina and Reubens for giving us a bit of sunshine during these times.

So we had our first Reuben’s takeaway last night and it did not disappoint. Easy to order via messenger, arranged so I was the only customer in the restaurant to collect and the food was delicious! Highly recommended and can’t wait for a time when we can dine in

We visited as a family of 4 we had an excellent meal and a fabulous waitress, nina, nothing was too much trouble and she couldn’t do enough for us. She’s a credit to reubens! We will be back soon 😊

Considering the new Covid rules of table service, we were not asked for refills of beverages, or food that was supposedly unlimited sides on the ‘unlimited’ Sunday roast. The head waiter was rude, and unapproachable. Decent food, however spoiled by the Lack of customer service.

This place is stunning inside, such a comfortable, social vibe. Food was absolutley lovely, staff were fab. Highly recommend this place for a group - loved it - Will definately be back. Succulent beef, pulled pork and chicken with loads of fries, mac'n'cheese, tenderstem brocolli, mixed veg and bean sauce all between two of us, very filling, no room for pud!

The restaurant didn’t answer our Facebook takeaway request message so we called them to place our order, which worked better. We got a friendly welcome when we collected the burgers which were ready on time.There was a good portion of food and the burgers had an authentic taste. Disappointingly they forgot our sauce pots so we didn’t get the full taste experience. Prices are not cheap.

Booked a table the night before such a friendly team, was served straight away and had a great waiter called James, who was chatty and very welcoming, I would honestly recommend this place to anyone passing or who lives in this area, great value for money, we’ll definitely be coming again.

Stayed here for work during the strange pseudo-lockdown period that we're in at the moment. Unfortunately the bar and restaurant weren't open so I can't comment on the food and drink. However, the venue itself looks amazing and when it's back fully up and running again I would imagine that it's a great place for a night out. The manager Paul is a star and couldn't do enough for me. The rooms are large, clean and modern and you really couldn't wish for anything else.

We ordered, paid and collected our food with minimal effort and no hassle. It was all really fresh, warm and tasty, we particularly enjoyed the fries! Highly recommend.

I really enjoyed the mushroom starter. The burnt ends were disappointing but the chicken and brisket were nice. Beer was good and service was friendly.

Been here quite a few times since it opened, the food has always been good but on my first visit the service let it down some what! On the last few visits Paul and his team have really made a difference, really friendly helpful staff, great food - couldn’t ask for much more!

Tried Reubens on the off-chance while visiting Whitchurch today and we're really glad we did! From the moment we walked in we got a very warm and friendly welcome from Paul and his team. We couldn't decide so let him recommend something and he nailed it! We had a mixed platter to share and the food was succulent, REALLY tasty and plentiful. We really enjoyed the food and will definitely visit again. Thanks Paul for an enjoyable visit.

We tried the sharing BBQ platter - it was the ideal choice as it included a wide variety their bbq meat choices and plenty of the sides.All were delicious - pull pork was moist and well cooked, the burnt ends were a little chewier than I was used to but still very tasty, the chicken was superb and the Reubens BBQ sauce (their own blend) was spot on. Overall we had a superb meal and left feeling very full indeed!

Went here on a Tuesday evening with my daughter and her boyfriend. Excellent food, reasonably priced & great service - Paul was both friendly and attentive, and overall we had a great time and will definitely be back!

We went for my sons birthday. Great food, I had fillet steak with all the trimming and sauce £25 which I thought was spot on. Colonel burgers looked amazing and they all enjoyed them. Relaxed service with Paul making sure we were well looked after. Was recommended and will be back to try other delights from the menu.

So me and my friend are in the area staying at a hotel and luckily found this place as the food was outstanding. We both had burgers they came out quick and they were honestly stunning and big portions! The puddings were almost the opposite took 3 times as long as the mains to come out, we both had the pizza dessert it was sickly the dough looked barley cooked, and there was massive lumps of brown sugar under the ice cream. Although pudding was a let down, the mains and the service was incredible. All waiters were really polite and all seemed genuinely happy, and the lady that dealt with the complaint about the pudding was extremely helpful and understanding. Couldn't recommend this place enough, just avoid the pizza desserts

We had a lovely lunch at Reubens. The menu is big but we chose the sharing platter with meats and sides and it was lovely. The drinks menu is good and we enjoyed our beer. The service was really good, very attentive. A lovely meal despite being quiet.

Visited here this weekend with my other half whilst we were camping in Whitchurch. We were just in the mood for a hearty Mexican or American, Meaty dinner and this place did not disappoint! We opted for the beef chilli nachos to share to start and the 4 meat platter for our main with mac n cheese, fries and slaw on the side and the sticky toffee sundae to share for afters. Everything was delicious and the cocktails we had were awesome too. Staff were really friendly and knowledgable of the menu. My only gripe is that the nachos could have been a slightly bigger portion as £7 a portion seems quite steep for a small portion of nachos and paying £14 for two portions just seemed silly and expensive, maybe offer a sharing sized portion for £8-£9 could be a good shout? But this is only a miner niggle and actually a compliment - they were soooo good, we could have demolished more ;)

We went for a late lunch, had burgers, fries, etc. The food was lovely and plentiful. We will definitely visit again soon.

We have visited Reubens once before and it was very good. We have been tonight for my daughter's birthday and the food has got even better. So fresh and tasty. I had the Colonel Burger which was outstanding. Definitely worth a visit and staff were very helpful and on point. I recommend this place totally. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

Really enjoyed our meal here on Friday, I had the chicken & steak kebab with garlic butter which was delicious my husband had 2 cuts (burnt ends & smoked chicken) with sweet potato fries & coleslaw which he really enjoyed. Our served was Liz who was extremely helpful and friendly. We were also staying above the restaurant in the B&B; which I can highly recommend too.

Wonderful evening just enjoyed with great service, sumptuous food and very fair prices. My ‘Colonel Burger’ was the best Burger I’ve ever had, while the ‘End of the World’ burger ran it a close second. Our 5 year old loved his pizza followed by milk shake ice cream. What’s more, the nachos that started the evening were a fiery delight of pulled pork and savoury burnt ends. We’ve booked again for next week!

This was our second overnight stay here and I to say that this place does not disappoint. We were greeted by a lovely lady (Sorry didn't get your name) who made us feel very welcome. She is a credit to this restaurant as nothing was too much trouble for her. The rooms are very comfortable and spotless, just what is needed for an overnight stay. The new addition of the breakfast hamper if great if you need to leave early. We will most definitely be coming again.

We stayed here for one night (a Saturday) as my fiance was playing a gig in the town.

Came on a Friday night for an early-ish dinner. I had a chicken burger which was very tasty. The staff were very warm and friendly, asking what our plans were and if we were having a good time. For a Friday night I'm, surprised that the restaurant was as quiet as it was, I don't know if this is a regular occurrence but the place definitely deserves to be full.

We popped into Reuben’s for lunch yesterday on a bright cold day. Service was really warm, attentive and friendly without being overbearing. We both opted for sandwiches from the lunch menu and they were great value. I had the Philly cheesesteak and the Mr had a Reuben’s club. They both came with a generous side salad, really tasty coleslaw and another really fresh and crunchy slaw. Portions were generous and the food was really tasty. Great selection of beers on draught and in bottles as well as lots of other treats which we were too full to indulge in. I would definitely recommend Reuben’s when you are in Whitchurch.

Wow what can I say visited Ruben's with my wife and son for a bite to eat greated by liz who I must say couldn't do enough outstanding customer service the decor is lovely really nice done to a very high standard and different to the normal places we go when the food came out we did not have to wait long it was delicious and very well presented I had the double dip burger and this was outstanding myself being a butcher and have always made my own burgers must say I was very impressed this was the first time we visited and cirtainly won't be the last highly recommended

First time visited for Sunday Lunch today with an adult family of 5 people.

My husband and myself ate at Reubens early march. Enjoyed are meal.it is on the expensive side the drinks are quite pricey as well. Excellent staff very attentive and very good at their job they deserved the tip we left.yes think we would go again in the future

I recently had the colonel burger as a main and it was one of, if not the best chicken burger I've had. Top quality burger fromna top quality restaurant. The service I recieved left me speechless. Bryony and liz really are at the top of the game.

Went for lunch, I had an amazing delicious Philly cheese steak, my wife had a chicken/steak kebab on a mahoosiv crispy flatbread. I had a pint of hip hop pale ale which certainly went down well! Highly recommended!

Great burger, good burrito, fantastic chicken burger too. Couple of tips.....the boneless bbq meats all come in the same sauce so they all taste alike. the tobacco onions sound good but they are powdery burnt things that did not taste nice. The bean side dish was tasty and their drought cider and ale was great. Friendly sever. All in all worth a visit ..especially for the burgers.

Popped in here as the place that was recommended was closing at 3pm! Totally fab! Wonderful young lady served us, so happy and full of enthusiasm. Food was bang on, 2 double burgers and 2 drinks for £21! Faultless experience and highly recommend!

Stumbled across this quirky place purely by chance and so glad we did! It was late Sunday afternoon and very quiet. Kirsten looked after us brilliantly and we thoroughly enjoyed the set American style Sunday lunch. Friendly manager too and all in all a really good experience at a reasonable price! Will certainly return when next in the area.

My husband and I have visited Reuben's this evening. When I booked on Wednesday, the very friendly waitress explained that they could squeeze us in at 7pm but that service might be slightly slower due to some large parties already booked in. I thought this honesty was brilliant and agreed to go ahead despite this. When we arrived we were quickly able to give our drinks and starter/main orders to Ben (who, despite being busy, was brilliant). My husband and I shared garlic dough balls and I went for a double cheeseburger while he had the 'Colonel' which contained all sorts such as pulled pork and chicken. The food was brilliantly prompt with very little waiting, despite the busy evening, and the quality was amazing. The garlic dough balls were melt-in-the-mouth soft, full of flavour and came with a delicious buttery garlic dipping sauce in the bowl. My burger was incredible: juicy, succulent and covered in loads of melted cheese. I hate pink meat so asked for it well done and it was beautifully chargrilled but still full of flavour. We also got loads of fries which were delicious. For pudding, we shared a chocolate sundae. Rich creamy chocolate chip icecream, amazing bits of brownie and LOTS of cream and chocolate sauce! I've made my husband promise we can return again soon - the food was amazing and the staff were brilliant on a very busy night. 100% recommend.

Comfortable stay right in the Centre of Whitchurch. The accommodation brings some welcome competition of into the town where comparable places are well over priced for what's on offer. Friendly, helpful personable staff ,where nothing was too much trouble. Food in the restaurant was pricey but very nice.

Waited for over an hour for Luke warm food, daughter had hair on her plate, my other daughter had a cold pink burger, the steak on my burger was a cheap off cut of gristle, very expensive for such poor food quality, the gumbo was apparently lovely as well as the mixed kebab. Just don't expect quality cuts of meat here.

I stayed in one of the rooms and found both the accommodation and the food excellent. I was going to be churlish and say that the chicken chowder was too creamy for me albeit really tasty... and then realised the menu described creamy chowder. But, actually, forget what went before because the dessert of a sweet pizza (I went for the berry version) was just to die for. Really nice people, really nice place, really good food. Couldn't ask for more.

Didn't really know what to expect. Anyway, booked a one night stay at Reuben's Hotel (didn't eat in restaurant). Highly recommendable, Really nice, comfortable and warm room. Reasonable price and staff were very friendly. Glad we did it, and hope to go back.

Visited this evening with my husband and had a lovely meal. He had a the boneless platter; pulled pork, burnt ends, mac and cheese, fries. I had the brisket salad (swapped for burnt ends). Both meals were delicious and the staff were lovely. We’re not local but would come back if we were in the area again.

Pre booked lunch on a Saturday with a group of friends - 14 of us in total. From start to finish the staff were happy friendly helpful and genuinely pleased to see us! Food was brilliant - some had the chowder and others burgers or brisket. All meals were generous portions and very tasty. The side of chilli chips was a particular highlight! Great range of drinks to choose from too. Kids loved it, we had a great time and will definitely be back. Just what Whitchurch needs - well done Reubens!

Stuck for somewhere to stay and finally found Rubens. Check in was easy, friendly greeting and shown to my room.

Visited with friends for a drink on Sunday evening. I didn't have a lunch so decided to order something light to nibble. Was told that all they served was Sunday roast, forget the salad. My friends ordered wines, I ordered Sunday's roast and paid for it 12£. The lady serving us said the meal would be big enough to feed us all. Ok why not? I was served with generous portion. We had a lovely time eating (were given a plate each) and chatting. At the door we were told that we had to pay for two more orders! I said I ordered ONE Sunday's roast and already paid for it. It appeared that if there are three people at the table you can't have only one portion-you get automatically three portions. Eventually my friends paid for the meal they didn't order. If that is normal practice there it should be written on the menu bold and clear. We were stunned. That was my third and definitely last visit there.

I attended a family wedding in whitchurch and decided to stay another night. Having spent the day in the town we decided to venture out for the evening.

Thank you to the staff for taking such good care of us and being very helpful in supporting me to work out the carbohydrate content of my diabetic son's meal. The food was very good and reasonably-priced, served in a nice friendly atmosphere. Recommended!

Moored at Whitchurch toward the end of our narrow boat holiday. A bit tired of standard pub menus so delighted to stumble on Reubens. Delicious food and shakes and excellent, friendly service. Wish we lived nearer and could make regular visits.

We came here as a group of 13. We had to all book in advance of what we wanted and still waited a while for the meals. There was a selection of starters which were all dripping with olive oil. A couple of us had the Nacho Chicken Burger for mains and it was extremely dry. Awful a very strong lime taste on everything which was not nice.

We didn’t book a table and was really surprised how busy it was for Tuesday night. However a table wad set up in the Mexico room. We shared two plates of nachos for starter - wish we had three as very tasty. We then had burgers with a choice of fries all really good and on Tuesday night it was buy one get one free. All good! Staff were great and we all left feeling this is a good new asset to Whichurch!
