We have been a couple of times and have always had freshly cooked soups and lunches. We love that dogs are welcome and the gift shop upstairs. We tried another central venue, but this is definitely the preferred location.

I have not been in Darby's before. I called in for afternoon tea after seeing it advertised in the window. Service was good and the place is very nice and welcoming. The afternoon tea was OK. Sandwiches were really nice and the cakes were nice enough, tiny portion though, gone in one bite. Scone was OK, a scones a scone I suppose! I was expecting clotted cream with the scone, but it came with whipped cream instead, it tasted like Elmlea not real cream. I could be wrong, but that's what it tasted like to me. The rest on the menu looked really nice and I would defiantly go again but not for the afternoon tea.

We regularly visit Derbys for a coffee & breakfast. They serve a delicious cooked breakfast (a little healthier as it's all grilled so you don't feel as guilty!!)

Birthday afternoon treat from my daughter, served quickly, even though it was full, great service & the afternoon tea was fabulous, not expensive either. Great home made scones, tons of cream & jam 🤪. My only complaint would be not enough sandwiches, but I am sure if you paid extra you could have more. Will be returning again soon.

This local cafe is located in a corner store in a long row of shops - it has big windows on two sides which let in plenty of natural light, and afford views out to the street and all the activity in this suburban neighbourhood. It opens at 8.30am, which is a more reasonable time for breakfast than many others. When we arrived it was nice and quiet, and we had our choice of table - we went for one in the large side window. The first thing we noticed was the excellent prices. We were able to order a generous breakfast of both porridge and a toasted tea cake for two of us, tea (for my husband) and coffee (for me) for just over £10. The food was tasty and well made. Quality porridge, and the teacakes were fresh and toasted just the right amount. My coffee was not very warm, but they did heat it in the microwave for me when I asked them to. I love it when there is a newspaper available to read with my breakfast, and there is a toilet which was clean and well set-up. The only suggestion I would make is that you try to avoid the 9-9.30am period on a weekday. There was a very sudden change from relaxing to very noisy when many groups of school mums and young babies and children arrived all at once - the line-up was out the door, and the cafe totally full for just a short period before calm was restored. The staff coped well at what was a stressful time for them. Parking is a challenge in this area, especially at this time of day, so be prepared to park further away and walk down. We look forward to returning and trying the lunches or sweet items at this pleasant cafe.

We went in for a spot of lunch, mums birthday, we had afternoon tea for 4 people, which consisted of a selection of sandwiches, cakes and tea/ coffee. The food was all fresh, lovely home made scones. there was more than enough to eat and drink and we didn't even finish all the cakes ( the lady very kindly gave us a box to bring home our leftovers). It was quiet, no loud music, so we could chat and hear each other. There was no rush or fuss and all for less than £10 each. Will certainly be going back again.

Visited for breakfast. A very friendly welcome, great menu and good coffee. The service is excellent -this is an unusual place - you can get veggie , vegan and traditional food. Every type of person is here and it is very much a family atmosphere. The lady who runs the cafe couldn't do more for her customers. What a find in Urmston. I had mushrooms on toast , bacon butty and croissant for my husband and one cottage cheese, beetroot and spinach barm for my daughter. Would visit every weekend if I lived nearer. They even have a coffee loyalty card. Fab.

Being a regular visitor, we visited again today to enjoy some lunch. As usual Darby's coffees were fantastic, we chose to have the lattes with homemade syrup (Bake well latte and Hazelnut latte). We then had two full cooked breakfast which were served quickly and were delicious. We also had room for a cake, it's very hard to choose as all the cakes look great. We recommend Darby's to everyone, its clean, fast, friendly and really clean. Thanks again for another great lunch. Make sure you take a visit upstairs as there is some local art work to see and buy.

Me and my friend went for lunch last week when in Urmston, we were greeted so friendly and warmly by the staff. The food was served very hot and absolutely delicious we both had the breakfast, we could not fault it. We were both fussy and asked for pouched eggs on the breakfast and were so surprised how perfectly cooked the eggs were, they were some of the best pouched eggs we have had, to be honest it is one of the best breakfasts we have had. The breakfast was so nice and I would 100% go back again and also the other things on the menu sound amazing and we will both be going back to try more of their amazing food. We also got a gooey chocolate brownie afterwards, all I can say is you must try and the other cakes look amazing! Overall what an amazing place with the nicest staff, amazing food in a well decorated room was amazing.

I last wrote a review about Darby's in March last year and I go fairly regularly. Myself and my partner visited today and, after being away and eating in a number of places, it was great to know that there is such a great place right on our doorstep. We both had the full English breakfast which was great and it's clear that all the food is good quality. Also, it's really good value and there was plenty of choice if we'd wanted to eat something sweet. Also, in mine and my partner's opinion, they serve the best coffee.

I've been in here a few times for breakfast and lunch at the weekend so thought I'd give them a thumbs up. There's always a good range of homemade cakes and deli style food on offer and they've always been helpful with my girlfriends gluten free diet. My last visit I popped in for a weekend takeaway breakfast. All good quality ingredients and a decent coffee to go with it. A bit more expensive than some cafes in Urmston but not overpriced and I don't mind spending a little extra for a weekend treat.

Had a nice little lunch here with friends and our little ones. Good variety of sandwich fillers which you can have as a panini or ciabatta as well and all for the same price which I thought was good. Coffee is good but unfortunately no children's menu. They do have high chairs so obviously happy to accommodate children but no menu to accommodate the smaller visitors. All in all a pleasant experience and I'd be happy to go back again

Visited here on a Saturday morning with our young son as we were in the area visiting family. My OH had a full English and our son and I had toast and marmalade with orange juice and coffees. It was all freshly made and delicious. The decor is lovely - lots of little quirky bits and pieces. And the most lovely little lights in the windows! We will visit again if in the area.

After the closure of the Barmy Olive this is the best place to go for a good old fry up with quality bacon and a very large pot of tea to boot. Well worth the money. Unfortunately the menu is a little outdated and believe it would be great to advertise the breakfasts and the specials in the window as I hope it would attract more business for the owners. The staff are excellent and I do wish this business to thrive as it was a little quiet this lunchtime. I wish them good luck for the future and will be visiting again very soon.

I've always found that Urmston is a little lacking in a nice spot to relax and enjoy a quiet bite to eat. Lily's on Eden is far too open plan and clinical for my tastes and I would rather not support Costa over local businesses. This in mind I've started frequenting Darby's relatively often and am glad to say it has ticked all of my boxes nicely. They make a damn fine breakfast, the coffee is excellent and the sandwiches are lovely. My only niggle is that they are only open until mid afternoon!

With the advent of Darbys, I relished the thought of some fresh blood in the old Lily's, and was not disappointed. The newly decorated premises are bright and welcoming, even on a dull day and the menu appetising and comprehensive. I have had a few lunches here since it opened and the food and service were exceptional and always served with a welcoming smile. An interesting aside to the previous coffee lounge on this site, is the introduction of its new arts lounge on the first floor, which show cases the talents of local artists and crafts people, and where you can buy the sort of artistic gifts that are truly unique, with commissions being offered if you do not find exactly what you were looking for. The icing on the cake, or should that be cakes. Pun intended

Very friendly and welcoming family-run cafe! The staff give a warm and friendly service, which makes Darby's have a relaxing atmosphere to chill out in unlike the 'conveyor belt' service that several of the chain coffee shops offer in Urmston town centre/ Eden square. A huge range of food on offer with delicious home-made soups, home-made scones/cakes.(.not bought from Sainsbury's like some other reviews suggest!) and a yummy range of breakfast items , would definitely recommend the Full- English with Cumberland sausages. As expected the coffee is great quality and can compete successfully with it's competitors. The arts/gift lounge upstairs is a really cool and unique feature, displaying local artwork/crafts for sale.Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Recently visited Darbys Coffee & Arts Lounge and was amazed by the superb friendly service from the two owners (Mother&Daughter) with a long cooking background finding out after spekaing to them. The food is second to none with that perfect home made taste. You can definitely tell they haven't just bought it from Sainsburys as someone below has said. Definitely recommend this as the coffee is perfect as I count myself as a coffee enthusiast. 10/10 from me!

The food is uninspiring.I'm all for paying for quality, and I'm happy to do so, so I was disappointed to find that my beef panini was made up of Sainsbury's cold-cuts and a brush of mustard. Totally not what I was expecting from a place that seems to stance themselves as upmarket. In hindsight, I suppose this is upmarket for Urmston. Either way we left disappointed.

I had high hopes going into Darby's for my lunch, assuming that everything would be unique (considering that it is an art lounge) and that the food would be something to shout about but it seems that everything is sourced from Sainsburys - including the shortbread biscuits in the cake window. The staff were really friendly which was nice and they have a lot of vegetarian options on their menu, unfortunately it still seems as if it is Sainsburys bought and I could have made it at home for a fraction of the price. The coffee is good - but why would it not be.

The food was really tasty, arrived in good time and at a more reasonable price. I had the Dorito chicken burger, the cheese wasn’t overloaded and the mayo sauce complimented its overall flavour. My partner had the beef burger whereby the restaurant accommodated his no cheese request. Again he really enjoyed his burger. Consequently the quality price and service was excellent.
