Me and my partner honestly couldn’t be more pleased with our visit to Daquise! I’m polish and I miss the cuisine, and this place really brought my taste buds back home… my boyfriend also loved everything that we ordered. The food is prepared with love and it’s very authentic. It’s on more expensive sided but it’s worth every pound. We also had a lovely waiter, unfortunately didn’t catch his name but it was a young male. His service made our night and we will definitely be back more often. Just make sure you book in advance!!!🫶🏼

I absolutely loved my experience at Daquise. The dishes we chose were all very good, but most of all I was impressed with the quality of the service: glasses were refilled without fault, fresh cutlery was delivered between courses (now a rarity in London) and it just all felt old school done the right way. We shared everything and we ordered one of everything of the dumplings (fantastic), venison pate (dreamy) and they offered us some Russian salad too (usually not something I go for but I cleaned that baby up, it was delicious). Mains were: rabbit (good), veal escalopes (very good), pork tenderloin (fab) and veal liver (this one was the one I expected to like the least but it ended up being my absolute favourite - done perfectly).

Food: It was my first time trying Polish food and we got the venison goulash and the cod as our mains and the latter was better than the former. My friend felt that the cod was a bit dry and I felt that there were some tough bits to the venison but overall they were good. For desserts, we ended up getting the fruit dumplings and the pancakes and the pancakes were the best part of the meal. Service: Really good, we felt that the waitress that served our table was really attentive and from what I noticed, this was a positive experience for other diners as well. Atmosphere: People looked like they were having a lot of fun there but granted the tight spaces for all of the tables does dampen it a little.

I can't praise the meal we had here highly enough. This was my first visit to Daquise as part of a trip to London, and the atmosphere was cosy and comfortable. There's a real sense of history throughout the restaurant. The food was delicious and authentic, and portion sizes just right. I had the pork tenderloin and gnocchi with honey and mustard sauce and I never wanted it to end! The dessert special of baked cheesecake was just as good. The staff were so friendly, attentive and helpful, and they were so kind to take some photographs for my friend and I at the end of the meal, despite it being late in the evening! All in all it was a lovely experience and I highly recommend a visit!

The food itself was quite good but prices don't match portions. 8 GBP for 3 small Pierogi is ridiculous. Also, we had to wait for around 1 hour to get the main dish. In all fairness, the place was packed but due to the small starters we were really hungry and eagerly waiting for the main dish, only to find out that it's not much bigger than the starters. :(

One of my favourite restaurants in London. Been coming here over 10 years and the food and service has always been excellent. London’s oldest polish restaurants with all the traditional foods you would expect, polish beers, and spirits for after. The building is also beautiful, airy and often used in filming. Love this restaurant so much. It's directly located at the South Kensington station and just a couple of hundred meters from all the museums. So it's perfect for a meetup on a culture day with friends before or after hitting the exhibitions. The interior is 1940s chic. It has lovely distressed walls and a simple, yet cosy and unique design. The food is like homemade Polish food. Nothing fancy, but simple food done perfectly. The service is friendly and the portion sizes medium. Not too large, but thankfully also not on the smaller size. Just right. I've been here before and I have had a good experience every time. A week is a long time in Politics. 10 years is an age in restaurants. And 1947 is your Grannie or Mother’s age but no one can mess with any business around since just after WW2.. Especially one with food like Daquise. A restaurant that my Mum went to before I was born in 1979, one I went to with her, pre Pandemic, and one I went to for lunch today. Great restaurant and great food. Great attitude from servers and honestly a tremendous experience overall. It is a gem of the olden days and a testimony to the riches of traditional Polish cuisine. Prices are on the medium point of scale. That being said, front of house are seriously understaffed therefore you’ll have to ask for drinks service/clean-up etc before they can take initiative (not their fault but a managerial issue - hire more!). One bit is weird is that they are always “fully booked” for some and they still pick and choose some walk ins (I’ve noticed the waiters in white overalls reject everyone but the “maitre” in black overalls take their pick. They also gave us 1hr 15 to dine but never said anything as such to others (bit annoyed by this). Honestly the place was almost fully empty for hours before the tables started pouring in - they are just losing money? I also don’t know what to think about the differential treatment in turning people away and seating some. That being said, our experience was wonderful and highly recommended (make a reservation!)

The place has charm, character and a great atmosphere. Staff attentive in an old world way. The menu is just wonderful as is the drinks menu which is very extensive. It was good we booked as we found it was almost a full house and evenyually people who showed up could be catered for. Only point of difficulty is getting down the very narrow stair to the conveniences. Not easy and would be impossible for some. But when I am in London again we will go again

Good Polish food and a lovely part of Poland in S. Kensington. Have been coming here, off and on, for decades. 21 Nov 2023 came here again for lunch. Service friendly. Since the last visit things have changed. Whilst food still flavoursome portions are smaller (this for à la carte so not set menu!) also far more expensive, 2 of us had starter, main and cake. No wine, price was nearly £100. Due to portion size still felt bit hungry. Also £8 for 3 small lukewarm pierogi is excessive, expected them to be bigger at that price. OK they were tasty but...Not the same value for money as last time, regrettably not sure can afford to come here again.

I have visited this restaurant a couple of times. The first time was a few years back, and the dishes were tastier back then. However, during my last visit, I felt that the food was almost pre-prepared and only warmed up before serving. It was a bit disappointing. On top of that, when we arrived as a group, we were given a table at the entrance with benches. I must say, the seating area was quite cramped, and it was a challenge for everyone to find enough space. We were all seated very close together. It would have been more comfortable if there was more room between the tables. I was really excited to go to this restaurant again, especially because I was looking forward to trying some authentic Polish food. Unfortunately, this time around, I left feeling disappointed. I believe these issues could be resolved by reviewing the menu, paying more attention to the details in the preparation of the dishes, and improving the service. By making these improvements, the restaurant can ensure a better dining experience for its customers.

Unfortunately we hadn’t booked and had underestimated how busy it would be and it had appeared we may not be able to dine. However the waiter, Ami went above and beyond to make a plan so that we could be seated. We then had a delicious 2 course meal. I had the salmon and pancakes to start and bigos for main. The rest of our party also had mixed pierogi’s with a number of sides which were all lovely. Ami then ensured my sister was made a fuss of on her birthday by arranging a dessert with a candle in. To finish we sampled the delicious vodkas. A lovely meal made very special for a special occasion. A big thank you to everyone at Daquise, especially Ami whose service was excellent.

I have been here several times through the years and have always enjoyed the old school elegant eating experience with excellent Polish food. Unfortunately, I went this weekend with my fiancés family (who are polish)to celebrate our engagement and it was just not the like the experience I was used to, the waiters looked stressed and it was overcrowded. We received one small basket of bread and a tiny plate with 3 pickles despite there being 5 of us, when I’ve been before we always received a large selection of pickles and gherkins enough for us and more. The herring salad which I had before and have had in other polish restaurants was also different and disappointing, I could barely see any herring in it, it was shredded so fine possibly to stretch it out then then my main was the duck in puff pastry and sadly this was also bad, but maybe this was just how it was supposed to be. The only good thing was the wine. The final bill came to around £400 so this is not a cheap eatery, the prices have gone up and the quality down. Also, they have become stingy, please go back to how you were!

It is located on a tucked-away corner of a side street, and it is clearly an established spot. It was cozy and well-worn, but elegant at the same time, making for a lovely ambience. The food was simple but delicious. To start, we each had the sampler of dumplings; for mains, I had the veal schnitzel with creamed spinach on the side, and my husband had the pork shoulder special. Everything we had was fantastic. Ordering sides with the mains is not too much food, as the portions are (thankfully) not heaping. The service got a little slow when we were trying to get the bill. I had high expectations for this place. Came with a friend that never had polish food before. We ordered dumplings with cabbage and mushrooms which were fantastic. However, sadly that was the highlight of the visit, both duck and pork loin were overdone and tough. The waitress forgot part of our order ( one of the mains) and we had to chase it up. We tried Silesian Riesling out of curiosity, and we were pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately, we had to repeatedly ask for a refill on our glasses as bottle was set aside on a different table, and waiters were not very attentive. Interestingly there was no background music at all, which was somewhat awkward especially in the afternoon when the restaurant was not busy.

The food and service were both good though not exceptional, but Daquise has really lost its charm and authenticity—the very thing that made it special. I should have known on arrival. Strange for a Polish restaurant, they have forgotten how to serve beer: they brought us our bottled beer in pint glasses, no sign of the bottle. There were no small beer glasses are available, only a wine glass or a tall glass. And the stairs to the toilet are dangerous and I am sure are against building regulations as they are right beside the front window. They have also removed the lovely downstairs room where I once celebrated a birthday. If you remember the old Daquise, don’t return!

I have been dining here for several decades without disappointment. Tonight was no different. I started with a sausage with onion and potato salad. (My favorite starter of sausage in a horseradish cream sauce was not available.) it was good. Next I had their pork tenderloin in a muster sauce which tasted of a hint of honey which was served with gnocchi. I slurped two glasses of their white Rioja. (They have a small but well curated wine list with mostly very reasonable prices for London whether for a glass or a bottle.) These days I avoid desserts but I cannot avoid them here. I managed to get past the Apple fritters for once and ordered the fruit dumplings. The dumplings were stuffed with fresh strawberries and served with whipped cream and a sliced strawberry. Finished with filter coffee. My only hesitation writing this review is that too many people will decide to go there and I may have trouble getting a reservation. Reservations are recommended but you don’t have to do them too much in advance. This was a Sunday evening early and they were turning away walk ins.

Pretentious, and pricey. I was looking forward to a typical Polish meal to celebrate my birthday but was completely underwhelmed. We started with two soups, both of which were watery save for three small dumplings floating in the borscht. To be fair, the beef broth soup was supposed to be broth. We then split three appetizers which were conspicuously small, and not particularly flavorful. Given the prices we should have left full (all in our bill came to £65 including a 12.5% service charge and only water) but we had to buy a sandwich a few hours later to hold us through to dinner. I am Polish and have eaten many meals in Poland and this was not at all comparable or hearty. Too bad - I will not be back and would not recommend. To top it off we realized afterwards that the server added a mystery £12 to our bill and we didn't catch it before leaving.
