Dansk Cafe in Castle Point

My daughter booked a table for the family for Mother’s Day. Had seen good reviews so thought we would try it. We had booked for 10.15. Arrived and ordered our food and drinks by 10.30. It arrived 45 mins later. Very disappointed with the quality of food. The French Toast consisted of one small slice of toast two blueberries and a scoop of mascarpone and a little compote £9.95. A complete rip off!! I think the Harvester could do better. Would certainly not be coming back and will not recommend to any friends.

First time I have been to this hidden gem and it certainly will not be my last. A lovely location and food was excellent. Very positive recommendation from me. Note: Was very busy and glad we had made an online booking in advance as not sure we'd have got a table otherwise

Great fishfinger sandwiches and sausage sandwiches!I have visited twice recently and the first time was not great because the service was very slow even though there seemed to be enough staff. I visited again yesterday and the service was much better but maybe that was because it was less busy.

We hired this venue to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday on Sunday afternoon. It was just perfect. Great size for small gathering of friends and family, 40 of us. Great atmosphere. Food amazing, walking buffet worked very well. Huge thanks to Lucy for all the help in arranging and advising. Huge thanks to Claire for running the bar so efficiently, professionally and very friendly personality. Many thanks to the waiting staff. So pleased to have found this venue, it was just perfect in every way for our celebration. Would definitely recommend this venue and look forward to meeting the friendly staff again in the future. My first visit here today for lunch with a girlfriend. Why have I not been here before?! Absolutely gorgeous food, fabulous service and all staff were exceptionally polite and accommodating. Will definitely be back, a real find in my opinion.

I’ve taken a few days to write this review as didn’t want to write it when angry! Took my daughter , daughter in law and there newborns for breakfast as a treat, we placed our order my daughter ordered a full English & asked for her bacon to be well done (crispy) I ordered Welsh Rarebit, daughter in law an omelette. Full English came out with anaemic bacon I got a croque monsier & omelette was perfect. We called the waitress asked for the bacon to be cooked to how we ordered & said mine was wrong. She took mine away & left the mushrooms , took the bacon but left the rest of the breakfast on the table, (bacon came back still not crispy so again was sent back) and by this time the rest of her breakfast was cold and the scrambled eggs had made the toast soggy & beans had a skin on them so breakfast was not eaten. When they came to clear the table my daughter pointed out that the breakfast was ruined & was ASKED if she wanted to see the manager, the chef came out (manager?) asked what the problem was & said he would remove it from the bill which we said was a nice gesture as paying £15.50 for something that could not be eaten was a bit much, I then pointed out that my order was also wrong and that I was left with the mushrooms & he replied yes I did hear that but I was on pastry I’ll also remove that…Then off he went! Within minutes he came storming out said he had spoken to the waitress & that we got what we ordered( I don’t like to be called a liar! ) He done a complete 360 told us our breakfast was COMPS to get out & not come back as we don’t like their food! I replied I was more than happy to pay for what we had eaten and our coffees & again in front of all his customers told it was COMPS & to GET OUT!!! So a word of warning if you go there and something is not to how you ordered please be aware they cannot take criticism and this is how you are treated!

Had a wonderful time here with my girlfriend. The food was excellent. It was a shame that a lady behind us kicked up a huge fuss after receiving a croque monseur and claim she ordered a Welsh rarebit when I heard her ask for a croque monseur. She was really rude to the staff but that wasn’t Fredericks fault. 10/10 as always.

Was my first time there I come in for my birthday and anniversary and I must say I had a very lovely time very professional High standards and the food was amazing the service was spot on and atmosphere just lovely I would highly recommend on fact I’m coming back with my friends

We do like Fredericks but I have got bored with the lunch menu. The food is great but it has been the same menu for ages now. I’m bored with it. Come on guys make some changes.

The low rating was primarily due to poor / very slow service The food was superb - we had the Dansk brekkie which was scalding hot & freshly cooked - spot on However we arrived at 10:55 for our 11:00 table, got sat down straight away but had to chase for our coffees which eventually came out after the breakfast was served some 20 minutes later Similar issue trying to pay the bill - eventually had to get up and go and find the server before being able to pay the bill A real shame as the food was great

Hired this venue for a 50th birthday party and what a little gem. It is reasonably priced hire, good selection of party food available, staff are friendly and helpful - nothing was to much trouble. You get the whole venue to yourself so no sharing with random people. You also link up with Lucy who party plans for you with bouncers on the door. If your thinking of a party - this would be highly recommended and should be top of your list

Hidden away in the Dansk furniture store. Great little cafe though vegetarian and vegan options are very limited. Recommend booking as is busy at lunchtime.

Amazing hidden place to eat within a furniture store, good quality food, they were accommodating with gluten free choices, adapting anything from the menu

This was our first time here , We both had the full English breakfast which was very nice ,good quality bacon and sausages , presented well and was extremely hot as it’s served in an small red hot frying pan , the staff were very nice and the service was very good My only niggle that was no fault of the restaurant was a table of two slightly older women sitting not fat from us who’s volume control seemed to be broken and due to the wine they were consuming amplified there loud voices , The only time they were quite was when they had a mouthful of food or when they were leaning back taking photos of it on their phones … We will definitely be back .

We've had breakfast, brunch and lunch at Frederick's. I always said it would be the idea place for a birthday gathering. My family actually booked the private room for the evening for recent my birthday as a surprise. It was perfect, and all my guests thought so too. There staff were attentive, the atmosphere welcoming and the evening just flew by! The whole place has a great "vibe" and fully recommend.

We met here for our monthly ladies lunch for the first time and we were not disappointed. The food was very nice, fresh and well made and the desserts were even better. I think decent value for what we paid. We will definitely return again.

Been looking for somewhere new to go locally and saw this when I went shopping. Come back to try it and so glad I did. The coffee is good quality and made well. The little biscuits on the side are like little Flapjacks and soo good. Such a nice touch and better then the usual lotus ones which I never eat. We had breakfasts, 2 x full English and 1 x Welsh rarebit with extras. All of the good was hot and freshly prepared. Tasted delicious. Will return for lunch and cake. Service was top notch, everyone friendly and helpful.

Popped in here with my wife after a quick tour around Dansk Design. We managed to get the last table for two. We both ordered the sausage and bean casserole with sourdough bread. My wife had the vegan sausage I went for the Cumberland. Excellent meal, very tasty. We also had a tea and coffee. Overall good ambience, service and food. Will return.

What an absolutely amazing hidden gem for party! I hired the private bar next to the cafe for my hen party and everyone had the best time! The bar is stylish and furnished with quirky pictures, trees and fairy lights. The staff were so friendly...

Popped in here for a bite to eat while wandering around Dansk. A simple menu but fine for lunch. Food well prepared and piping hot - alongside very helpful staff. All in all would recommend.

What an absolute delight. Went there this evening for one of their 'pop up' evenings.A three course meal menu which was lovely and my favourite red wine. I had tempura prawns for starter which were lovely and light and HUGE! I'm sorry now photos as is eaten half before I remembered . Then I had chicken and wild mushroom fricassee which was beautifully cooked. I couldn't manage a sweet dessert but had a lovely cheeseboard. My husband had the same starter and cheese but he had A Tortelli for main which was excellent. With the eat out to help out deal it was £65.50 which included a £28 bottle of wine. What a lovely surprise - we went expecting it to be a little bit cafe like for a quick cup of coffee and a snack. It was really good - the surroundings were great and the service was second to none. Loved the coffee. I had the ploughmans which was really good value. Husband had the scrambled egg and salmon which again was spot on. Really unexpected nice surprise. Would definitely recommend and would definintely return. Forgot to mention...good value too...!! Worth every penny

We had an extremely pleasant lunch as the first trip out after being locked down due the the Co-vid 19 virus, we were met with a welcome back glass of Prosecco & a very tentative team led by Talia, we had our favourite dishes crushed avocado & poached eggs plus cheese omelette with toast perfectly cooked, I have to say it was every bit as good as it always was, a perfect lunch served by warm & welcoming staff. Have been a few times. Occasionally, I have found the food portions to be on the smaller side, however, the quality of the food is always great and served in a timely manner, so no complaints there! Decided to try the full English breakfast and has to be one of the best fry-up's I've had. Didn't feel greasy or anything and I'd definitely return just for the full English.

Having popped in for snacks and coffee on about 3 previous occasions, decided this would be the perfect venue for myself and my 5 friends to meet up for a long lunch and catch up because the setting is just so cosy and comfortable. Five of us had the Winter Skillet special (saute potatoes, onion, chorizo, poached egg and sourdough toast) and one had the Dansk breakfast, followed by cakes for dessert and lots of drinks and coffee throughout. All was amazing and the service spot on. We were not made to hurry and enjoyed just relaxing and chatting. The venue really was the perfect choice and we enjoyed a wander round the store afterwards too. Thoroughly recommend.

We held our work Christmas Party in Fredericks at the end of November. We had the bar area to ourselves and had a walking buffet. The food was amazing; the friendly staff served the guests with various different large canapés. There was no shortage of food and they catered for everyone’s dietary requirements including people with allergies. The restaurant/bar is decorated and furnished from the Dansk furniture store so is of a high standard. I would definitely book another party in the future, great food and great service.

Lovely cafe on the 1st floor of the Dansk shop. Decorated and furnished with products and furniture from the Dansk range it is a fabulous setting. We had a Reuben sandwich and a halloumi open sandwich; both were excellent with good quality ingredients and very well prepared (eg not a trace of fat on the pastrami which is a big bug bear of mine!). Good range of options for breakfast and lunch, and all very reasonably priced. Bit of a hidden gem this, a world away from typical in-store cafes. Well worth a visit you won’t be disappointed.

Delightful food and surroundings, the reviews stack up on this cafe which is hidden away on the top floor of this furniture store. A big surprise, decor is lovely and staff excellent. A good menu with options to have a glass of wine as well. I went for the smoked chicken open sandwich with homemade slaw and nuts. It’s was great, super toasted bread with quality smoked chicken, presented well. This is a super place that deserves the praise. It’s hidden away as well but I suspect the continued good reviews will put an end to that! Worth a visit even if you don’t want to buy a sofa!

My third visit here in about 6 weeks - so clearly I like it.Today I had the homemade soup which as absolutely fab. A large helping with a generous amount of buttered thickly sliced bread - I don't like mine buttered and when I asked for it to be changed, it was done very quickly. My friends all had different snacks and all were pleased with them. You have to g to the counter to order and that might put some people off but the staff are helpful and the food is quickly served.There is not an extensive menu but the choices are a bit different and I like most of them . A couple I think are a little pricey for the portion you get, but the majority represent good value for money. It can get very busy some days and they close at 3pm. The decor is lovely and you get to see the great furniture on the way in and out.Give it a try.

Have been here a few times now but rather than just have coffee we decided to have lunch instead. We ordered the burger which was well priced at £8.50 each and was very pleased. Although it didn’t come with fries, we still had enough food with a nice selection of crisps on the side and I would definitely recommend if u want something a bit more than just a sandwich! The surroundings are lovely and you really wouldn’t think you were in the middle of a retail park! Loved it! Great service and very friendly and clean too!

Visited the Dansk cafe yesterday fir the first time. Very impressed. Decor lovely and very comfortable seating. Staff very friendly and helpful and food was excellent. Prices a little on the high side, but worth it.

Really nicely appointed cafe within a furniture store. Had lunch here with my parents, really like the decor and atmosphere of the place, although a bit of an odd location within a furniture store. Not sure how you would know about it unless you saw it advertised or someone told you about it, their was no signage outside! The food was good, nothing exceptional but nice, probably a little on the pricy side for what you got but nicely presented. I would return if in the area as I like the vibe of the place, shame it's not a stand alone venue in a high street!

Lovely surroundings; friendly staff; steep prices for ordinary. Almost £6 for a sausage sandwich! My friend had a bacon and egg sandwich with a hole cut out of the slice of bread to show the yolk of the egg so she had to eat it with a knife and fork! The 'chef' clearly thought he was in the West End, not in a furniture shop among a retail shopping parade. Prices are as inflated as the rest of Dansk.

The new refit is great bigger kitchen and new seating area to be opened soon. Great food. Nice cakes. Give it s try

My daughter and myself visited Dansk cafe yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed the great food and good coffee, the staff were very polite and friendly and made us feel quite at home, everything was spotless clean, I cannot fault at all and will be returning again soon

Visited the Dansk Cafe for lunch today. It was fantastic. Immaculately clean cafe, superb service from the lovely & friendly staff and importantly delicious fresh food. I think this place is an absolute winner and it will be my go to local eatery now. Visited a pretentious modern cafe in Leigh for Brunch (clue in the statement) who charge the moon for awful food & service last week, the Dansk Cafe could teach them what good looks like. Cannot wait to go back again but this time hide the Raspberry & Blueberry Cheesecake, it was just too good.

I’ve been to Dansk cafe a few times now. Love the decor and the staff are very welcoming and accommodating. I’m a bit of a fuss pot so I don’t find the menu that exciting and not as much variety as I’d like. I tend to have the same food every time I go which I always enjoy. The coffee is great and cakes look lovely too.

In the area around Stadium Way and the Weir, this cafe provides excellent quality and quite an imaginative menu. A reviewer has mentioned the cost but I do not believe it’s anymore costly than other cafes. What it does deliver is really top quality coffee and some very nice dishes.

Lovely little cafe ...Lovely food ...nice polite staff...soup was amazing...unfortunately you have to go downstairs to the toilet but everything thing else was lovely.

6 of us went for lunch today. Heard lots about it so thought we’d try. Nice place, staff were very welcoming. Although we paid separately we ordered straight after each other. My aunt & cousins food came out first & I asked where ours was when they had almost finished! I get that it’s all cooked fresh but we only had 2 Welsh rarebit, egg on toast,omlette , toastie & a muffin! It wasn’t even that busy. Worth the wait though. We also had Victoria sponge which wasn’t the best but ok. Everything was clean & tidy & the staff were friendly and I will return

Whilst browsing the local cafes on trip advisor I came across this one and was intrigued. Popped in yesterday and what a lovely little place! The atmosphere and cosy vibe is lovely and the selection of cakes is amazing. I went for the Apple crumble slice! Definately recommend

I popped into the Dansk cafe for a coffee and a piece of cake today after struggling to find somewhere for a decent coffee in the area and reading a review online. Wow what a little gem!!! Lovely setting, lots of delicious cakes, wide selection of teas & coffees and a good food menu (including lots of healthy options). The location is a bit out of the way but well worth a visit.

I have been to Dansk before and was suitably impressed with the standard of the food. I enjoyed the all day English breakfast. However yesterday my sausages were undercooked and awful, which put me off my meal.

What a delightful surprise, to find this wonderful cafe in a furniture store. The staff were really friendly and helpful, the coffee was really great and they served soya milk or oat milk as an alternative for those who can’t have cows milk. The cakes and pastries were delicious. We will definitely be going back.

My wife and I discovered The Dansk Cafe not long after it opened, and to put it bluntly, we can’t stay away. The food is just fantastic, whether that is breakfast or cakes or sandwiches and the coffee is lovely. However, the lady and gent who run the place are reall6 lovely and theur attention to detail is superb. In addition, the furnishings, as you would expect are very nice and the atmosphere is perfect.

Wow what a find. Stumbled across this cafe whilst getting my car fixed at Rayleigh Ford. This time I had coffee and a freshly made danish. However, having read the menu, I will be back. Service was fabulous. Real engagement from the staff - both helping me decide what cake to have and follow up to make sure I had enjoyed said suggestion. How rare is that around here. Loved it.

So, if I'm honest, I don't really want to write this review. Because this cosy little retreat is likely to get too popular if word gets out, and then I'll be bemoaning when I arrive for coffee and cake in its comforting atmosphere, and it's full!

Stopped for some lunch and a coffee while browsing in the shop and were astounded by the quality of the food and coffee.

Visited Dansk cafe today and the food was lovely. We had poached eggs with smashed avocado and halloumi and roasted pepper sandwich on sourdough bread. Both very fresh, well presented and tasty. The waitress was very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back.

We stumbled upon Dansk cafe by accident and now it has become our regular haunt.

Popped in for a coffee whilst shopping in the store. Really tastefully decorated and the coffee was lovely and served by friendly staff. I had already had lunch but the home made sandwiches and cakes looked delicious.

My friends and I really enjoyed the Cafe at Dansk. The coffee is superb and the freshly made cakes are to die for. I will be back!

Heard about this place and decided to try it whilst we were out at the trading estate. Limited menu but that is a good thing, because what they do is very nice. We both had different sandwiches and they were nicely full and very tasty. Whatever brand of coffee they serve was really nice and all the cakes looked lovely, but we didn't partake. Nice relaxing and well designed surroundings. Highly recommend as a peaceful alternative to McD's or the bacon wagon if you are out at Stadium Way for anything.
