Danielles' Bistro in Northumberland

A great little restaurant. Interesting menu and very good food. We visited during a few days in Hexham and it was so good we went back the next night. Highly recommended.

Visited Danielle's 'Bistro' Hexham we were staying in the Airbnb nearby. It was quite busy for a weekday so I would advise booking. A very warm welcome from the start. Staff were efficient throughout the service yet not pushy. All were friendly and chatty. It is wonderful food, would highly recommend the cheese soufflé and pork belly. All are very filling and substantial, especially for the price. My wife adored the homemade sticky toffee pudding. Would return based on the food and service. A small issue for feedback was our dessert wasn't the cleanest/ most well-presented with some sauce and finger marks around the side, but this didn't deter her. We gave feedback on this to the girl who served us. She understands it's getting passed around by the chef to staff so this can happen. Other is the decor and facilities. It's cosy however inside is a tad dated, and needs some TLC... It's very quaint and unique if you like this thing. My wife loved the wooden beams, spiral staircase and antique decorations. However, she did want to feedback that the women's toilets were quite outdated with carpets and hand towels and no proper bins. There should be paper towels and some sort of hand sanitiser or even a hand dryer. All in all other than those few things to feedback we'd return and would highly recommend for people to visit.

We did not booked and arrived 19:00 for a table for two. Lovely meal and staff very pleasant. However, the resteraunt is rather dark inside. Staircase too and from toilet is rather steep.... we felt we were rushed from our table.

My partner & I visited on a Thursday evening. She went for a gluten free option. I went for the smoked mackerel pate, pork medallions with black pudding and waffle to finish. Main course in particular was excellent - tasty and hot. Good sized portions, excellent value for money.

Met another couple for lunch at Danielle's last week. Excellent experience: the service was fast and attentive, the food for each of us was excellent (I had pork medallions with black pudding - yum yum!), and the set menu price was very reasonable for the quality of the food. There were a few tables occupied at the front of the room, but we chose a quiet table at the back where we could catch up. Would definitely go again.

Where do I start? We moved into the area 3 years ago and just recently read about Danielle’s Bistro. We went with 6 for celebration of my birthday. Friendly reception and nice drinks menu. For starters we had a mix among us of Mackerel pate, beet root salad, black pudding, myself I had the cheddar/leek soufflé and that was absolutely heaven on a plate. All other were really pleased with theirs. Mains were great too; among us Lamb shank, beef strip salad, pork medallions, mushroom/brie/spinach wellington and the fillet steak. Without exception none of us had any regrets of our choice. For me, best steak ever and lovely sauce. Desserts were putting smiles on faces too and we all concluded we definitely will come back to this beautiful little bistro. You did everything right for us, great attention and care for our gluten-free party member.

We were staying in Hexham for a few evenings and wanted to eat in a small independent restaurant. We found Danielle's Bistro and had the most delicious meal on our first night. It was so enjoyable we returned for a second night too. The sea bass and fillet steak stroganoff were amazing as was the lamb shank on our second evening. The atmosphere was calm and the service was spot on. We highly recommend a visit if you are lucky enough to be nearby.

A very enjoyable lunch, served promptly. The restaurant was very quiet on the day we went. I was surprised as the prices are reasonable and the food very good.

A delicious 2 course lunch with items marked up as gluten free. Will definitely return when next in the area.

Spent a lovely evening at Danielle’s bistro . Food was very good - we went for the 3 course menu . Good value for money and a nice cosy atmosphere . We booked quite late on but managed to get a table for 8pm on a Saturday evening . Staff pleasant and efficient . No waiting around but not rushed either . I had the pork medallions with vegetables and a little black pudding my partner had duck with vegetables potatoes and a tasty orange and vodka sauce . Highly recommend if you are a couple looking for a good meal , a cosy night out in pleasant surroundings

We visited in a Saturday evening and had booked quite late so we were grateful they were able to fit us in . We were holidaying self catering locally and saw Danielle’s recommended in the visitor book. From the moment we arrived we liked the cosy friendly atmosphere . We went for the set 3 course menu . I started with the feta cheese and beetroot salad and then main course was pork medallions . My partner had curried carrot soup followed by Duck with an orange / vodka sauce . Dessert was chocolate profiteroles for him and I went for ice cream . We finished with a decaf coffee. No long wait between courses but weren’t rushed either . Staff were all friendly and professional . We really enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend the food and atmosphere . Certainly would visit if back in the area again .

Booked for a group of 13, staff Christmas night out. We pre-ordered our food to make it easier. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. Staff were attentive but not in your face. Food came out promptly and fantastic quality. This is the 2nd year in a row we've had our staff night here. There is a reason for that!!! Highly recommended and great value for money.

Went here for the first time ever with a group of 12. Fantastic! Lovely staff, attentive, quick and accurate. Great atmosphere, lots of chatter although easy to hear people. Reasonable prices. We parked just round the corner near the Abbey. A great night and now we've found where this gem is hiding, we'll be back!

Another wonderful meal at Danielle’s. I genuinely can’t fault this place. Food is always of a top quality and the staff couldn’t be better. Attentive and friendly without being too much. I will absolutely be back and introducing it to more friends and family.

I had cheese souffle to start with which was ok but needed to be served with some bread to provide some texture. Then had sea bream which was dry and overcooked. Served with strange tasting fishcake and soggy cabbage. Reading previous reviews mentioned great staff, but maybe they weren't there the night we went. We had very standoffish waitress. I asked for some sweeteners for my coffee and she just walked off, came back and slammed down a sweetex dispenser on the table without a word. Not professional. Will not be back. Would not recommend.

Omg what a little gem !!! Here for a family wedding in Hexham and needed somewhere to eat wow lucky us they had a table last minute. Food delightful atmosphere cosy staff impeccable!!! A lunch here today. It was lovely, hot and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was warm and relaxing. The prices were good. Would definitely recommend. So when in Hexham please visit.

Saturday evening meal for 2 whilst visiting the area. 3 courses each, all were excellent including some dietary adjustments for one of us. Nothing was too much trouble, and it was probably the best value meal (given the quality) we’ve had in a long time. Food and hospitality at its very best. Highly recommended.

We had an excellent meal. I ate the pork medallions which were perfectly cooked, but the duck and the fish looked brilliant too. All the food was excellent, and the service was helpful and friendly throughout. We really appreciated being told that the wellington would take a bit longer to prepare. I visited Danielle's Bistro when I was in Hexham today and I can understand why people rave about it. I ordered a chicken stroganoff with rice and vegetables and it was fantastic, everything was cooked well, tasted delicious and the stroganoff was the best I've had for years. Loved the ambience in Danielle's with the beamed ceilings, the paintings and acoustic rock on the sound system. I don't mind paying a little extra for quality( my meal and coffee came to £16.25) when the standard of the neal, the ambience and the staff are so good. Also while I didn't have one, you can order a desert with your main meal for £ 3 extra.

First visit to this restaurant and was very impressed, the food and service was excellent. Can recommend the black pudding to start and the vegetarian wellington with mushrooms, spinach and cheese which comes with vegetables and potatoes as a main course. The soufflé starter and beef main was also excellent. Would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are visiting the area.

We have visited Danielle’s bistro twice and on both occasions enjoyed delicious food. The menu choice is varied and reasonably priced. Each person gets an individual bowl of potatoes/vegetables with their main meal which is a lovely idea. There are great gluten free options and the friendly staff have good knowledge and are able to offer guidance. If we lived a bit nearer this lovely restaurant I think I’d be tempted to go every week!!

Last week my son and I visited this lovely bistro on two consecutive evenings. On both occasions, we had lovely food from a wide-ranging menu, served by pleasant and friendly staff in cosy surroundings. All in all, these two evenings made our stay in Hexham perfect.

I had been looking for somewhere nice to eat nearby with friends,whilst we were staying at the travelodge in Hexham. I emailed to book as I was going to be away on the Isle of Man so thought that was easiest, they quickly confirmed my booking the next day. I was slightly concerned after reading that there was a spiral staircase to the toilets,my husband and friends have mobility issues so rang to check. They were very good and made sure we had an easy access table. Our meals were excellent and likewise the drinks,we all had different things and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. The spiral staircase is actually quite wide and I am sure my friends could have managed it if needed. I always like to end my meal with ice cream and think the ginger one was exceptionally good.

Absolutely lovely food, the service is as quick as well! I went for the duck leg, and it was so flavourful! Highly recommend and will be returning again!

We ate at Danielle’s Bistro the last time we were in Hexham two years ago . We enjoyed our visit so much we booked a table there for our current stay . Danielle's certainly lived up to our memories . It is a lovely cosy Bistro with an intimate ambience. The menu is varied and very reasonably priced and the food was very tasty with generous portion sizes . The level of service was exceptional with the staff being welcoming , friendly and efficient . If you are visiting the Hexham area and want a first class dining experience we would recommend Danielle's Bistro .

First class restaurant. Excellent food, great service and atmosphere. We’ve been to this restaurant during trips to Slaley Hall a number of times over the years. We have been consistently served with first class food from a menu with lots of appealing options. For me the pork belly is the best I’ve had. To put the tin lid on it the cost is extremely reasonable. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Called in here after rhe races on the off chance they had a table and luckily they squeezed us in as we were early. It got really busy so would reccomend booking. Really good value fixed price menus good choice and a good wine selection too.
