The food was good and the atmosphere great as the place was busy. On the downside, we were very cramped for space at the table because they had obviously squeezed as many people in as possible. Also, when my young granddaughter needed her nappy changing we discovered there were no changing facilities. We were told they didn’t have space despite having had a fairly recent extension. Unfortunately I don’t think we would go again with a child or children.

Very Interesting pub with lots of Interesting information on the Dambusters and pictures. Very friendly staff and we were given a small tour by one of the owners. The menu is not large and is changed daily ,my husband had the steak pie and it was lovely . Would come back again when in the area again and recommend it to friends .

Called for lunch. Had a starter and a main each with a soft drink. The service was fantastic. The pub was very interesting- could have spent hours looking round the displays and the food was excellent. Very quick service and the food was hot and very tasty. My only criticism would be that the fish batter was very salty as was my spicy chicken starter but otherwise everything was spot on. First time we’ve visited but we will be back. They also do gluten free options for a lot (if not all) of the menu options. My only regret is that we were too full to have a dessert!! Very good food, value and the staff were brilliant.

Great pub . Food was excellent. I had the Haddock and chips and I think it was the best I have ever had, Dad had the Wild boar sausages and he raved about it as did my Mum with the Salmon. I have 2 pints of the "Dambusters" ale that was one of the best pints I have had for years, at 3.8% just right for session beer the service was first class. The pub is a great education with lots of genuine artifacts from 617 sqn. so much history and so interesting. Well done!

We went here on recommendation. It truly did not disappoint! We had the creamy garlic mushrooms and pate for starters. For mains we had the beef chili with rice and Ploughman’s. The portions were unreal! Such great food! The chili was to die for! I couldn’t finish it all as there was so much. The Ploughman’s was big with 2 cheeses (big chunks), pickle, roast beef slices, bread and a pork pie. Everything was decorated in the Dambusters theme - even the toilets! Gorgeous murals and memorobilia everywhere you look. There was a queue before it opened at 12pm. Highly recommend this place - especially if you are a history buff. Great food anyway if you aren’t.

The Dambuster Inn full of HIstory and memorabilia from the HIstoric Raids on the Dams. The Servers were professional and happy. The food for both me and my partner was absolutely astounding. I had the Venison Burger and my partner had the Ploughman's meal. We both had a dessert and it was just as good. It was like walking into a WWII Museum where you could sit down to eat perfect. Also a great place to honour the Men and Women that fought in the War.

Sunday lunch visit - slick as you like, easily booked via phone, straight to table, slick service and amazing surroundings being a pub appropriately themed around its RAF surroundings, with lots of memorabilia on display. Food was very good, served quickly and a generous offering of drinks. Very reasonably priced and overall a very pleasant experience. I’ll be back for sure and I’d gladly recommend a visit. Just make sure you book in advance, it’s a popular destination so booking is well advised. Parking can be tricky but there are lots of places to park along the village but I would suggest being considerate of village residents when parking.

Visited on a date. The theme is obvious and you take the 1940’s music as part of the atmosphere, which is fine.We went straight to the table although we arrived early for a couple of drinks.Worth mentioning, no car park it seems so you are left finding somewhere to park in the village, not easy when busy. The menu is minimal but that’s good.We decided on the fish n chips as it looked so good on google reviews photo. It didn’t disappoint.Best fish I’ve had in a while and decent big chips.Bad points for me. Had to ask for drinks after we had been seated a little while.Asked for extra tartare sauce, never came. After the main was asked about desert, but said we would like 10 minutes to decide and a break after the main, never came back so we didn’t have desert.Didn’t lay the table very well in front of us, re cutlery. The waiting staff (some ) I figured were a little inexperienced and nervous and…. Forgetful.I would go back though.

Interesting airforce artifacts and medal/photo gallery of WW2 aircrew. Licencee came over and gave an overview of the display. Ordered a roast dinner which came within 15 minutes. Hot and tasty tender beef. 40's music played over the speakers loud enough to hear and have a conversation. Attentive young staff throughout. Lots of customers without it being cramped. I came for a meal with friend last night and the whole thing was made so unenjoyable by the terrible service. The waitress who sat us down was friendly but all of our drinks and the water glasses were dirty beyond belief. I sent the water glasses back because they were so disgusting, when they came back they'd been given a wipe but were still dirty. Then another waitress came along and was unbelievably rude, she even swore at us and I could hear her swearing around the pub! My friend was still eating her starter and she stood at the end of the table waiting for her to finish until my friend just gave her it because she felt so uncomfortable! No one checked on us whilst we ate our main courses either and whenever I asked for another drink or to add a side on, it seemed a huge inconvenience (especially to the 2nd waitress). The only saving grace is that the food was nice, just not nice enough for me to ever go back!!

Having visited the area to take in the WW2 association it only seemed right to stop here for food. The front sets the tone for what you hope is a clean, tidy country pub. The memorabilia inside is very good, lots to see and read, unfortunately that’s where the positives end.On arrival we told the lad behind the bar we had a table booked and although a bit early could we get a drink. That was ok and he advised us where our table was. The owner(???) appeared and on asking who we were to the bar staff was heard to comment “god, there a bit early”, a pleasant welcome. Drinks ordered at the table we went to sit outside. First table we sat at was rotten wood about to collapse. Very unsafe. The garden area is a mess.Food was average to say the least, for a pub who claim to have won CAMRA awards all I can say is the competition must be atrocious. The ale was so flat, the lager terrible too.As has been stated on previous posts recently the main reason we didn’t stop for sweet was Mr Grumpy. He was only interested in the young pretty girls who came in. As I joined a conversation with a young couple he obviously feeling his nose pushed out huffed and walked away.So disappointed, so much potential in this place but avoid at all costs unless your local, young and pretty.

The food is out of this world, amazing presentation and perfectly cooked, hats off to the chef. The pub has a fantastic amount of world war 2 memorabilia and is cosy on a winters day and has a great beer garden for a summers day. Just a massive shame that the front of house staff are unwelcoming and frankly to the point of being rude (all bar the young waitress), which ruins the whole experience. I've been twice now and it's been the same, so not a one off. I won't be going again but if I hear that the chef moves elsewhere I'll definitely go there!

I went here with my parents for lunch. When we arrived the barman was less than welcoming and a little arrogant to be honest. We were seated quickly and the pub is nice with plenty of artefacts and 617 memorabilia. I think the place markets itself as memorial pub type place and it fell short in my opinion. It had aldi sauces with a homemade printed dam busters sticker which is not an issue if done with some class. The waitress came to the table grumbling about her working conditions and threw the cutlery on the table. The food was OK to average. I had the ploughman's which was not good at all. The scampi was OK as was the sausage. Shame really the place has great potential that is not being realised by poor staff. Won't go back.

We popped in for a meal on a Saturday afternoon. It does get very busy so you are well advised to pre-book. A sparkling choice of food, my starter was the warm pork pie with mushy peas - it was delicious. Well recommended. My main course was the lasagne, again lovely food and a reasonable sized portion too. All this surrounded by RAF exhibits and photographs. Many of the faces of aircrew that look down on your table did not survive the war, they include Wing Commander Guy Gibson VC, DSO & Bar, DFC & Bar, of Dam Busters fame, sadly killed on 19th September 1944. A massive Lancaster wheel and tyre separates the bars and a roaring fire warms the cockles of your heart whilst you sample some of the fine ales that are served here. You are welcomed by charming staff and the black labrador 'Bomber' who is your best friend whilst you eat if you let him! I stopped here for lunch with a group of friends, having given notice we were coming. The pub itself is akin to a museum with a large collection of memorabilia relating to the Dambusters. It was somewhat spoiled by the landlord who hardly gave off an air of Gemütlichkeit, and seemed quite put out by our appearance. We hid in the beer gardens it was a nice day.

Really excellent Sunday Lunch - start serving at 12 noon. Booking really essential as very popular but not over crowded. Beautiful garden to sit in to eat or have a drink after meal. Landlord takes a real pride looking after it. Amazing place and one can spend lots of time reading all the memorabilia from World War 2. Often frequented by the Red Arrows pilots and blues when in this country.. Also do great bar meals and the desserts are out of this world. The Landlord also brews his own beer - Dambuster by name - to suit all tastes. One must go to the loos before leaving - can't speak for the mens but the ladies is unique - I even took a photograph of the decorated walls. Very clean throughout everywhere.

I’m sure there’s plenty of good things to say about this pub, unfortunately the landlord isn’t going to be one of them. Arrogant.

If you like RAF memorabilia then this is a must visit. You cannot help but be impressed with the display. The welcome from the staff was friendly as was the landlord. The pub was very busy on a Friday evening but food service was good and nice to have simple pub food (Please don’t take it the wrong way). I had the homemade steak and ale with horseradish pie and it was great, judging by the empty plates in our group I think we all enjoyed our meal.

Im amazed so many people rate the hospitality in this pub, from the moment you walk in you're made to feel unwelcome by a manager that seems to hate his job and hate the customers even more.

Apart from living in the area or needing refreshment whilst travelling through, the main reason to visit the Dambusters Inn is the renown 617 Squadron who were based at RAF Scampton during WW2. The Inn contains lots of interesting memorabilia related to the Dambusters—photos, medals, parts of Lancaster bombers, etc. They serve the usual pub grub in plentiful portions, and as a free house they offer a variety of guest ales and lagers, as well as their very own Dambusters Ale. I enjoyed a pint of that! The publican and staff are very friendly towards humans and dogs, and there is a nice garden out back. We’d certainly go back.

We went for a family meal here on a Sunday. We booked a table as we heard the pub got busy and we can now see why - fantastic food and atmosphere! We took two dogs with us and the pub was very accomodating. We would recommend the Sunday roast and the steak and ale pie! Homemade food of a very high standard. We also bought some of the dambusters cheese that they sell at the bar which was fantastic! Will defiantly come again.

Visited again with friends who love fish and chips. They were not disappointed. The fish was the size of a whale - well it was big! As always the welcome was warm and the service 1st Class.

The day before my wife and I had lunch at the Dambusters Inn I was sitting in the cockpit of a Lancaster bomber at the East Kirby Air Show. Unlike the original crews I was not about to take off for Berlin with a life expectancy of a fortnight.

Visited for the first time and not disappointed. The Landlord made us feel very welcome and accommodated us for a meal without a booking. The food was great and well priced. The Inn is just a haven for anyone interested in history, aviation or WW2. The memorabilia is just outstanding, seeing the signatures of brave pilots was a highlight. Will definitely visit again but will be sure to book next time.

I seem to be in the minority as far as reviews go for the Dambusters. I found the pub rather gloomy and the table we were seated at appeared to need a good scrub!

A warm welcome from friendly staff set the tone for our lunch visit nicely. I’ve eaten here before but returned with a couple of our American Friends before visiting the International Bomber Command Centre in Lincoln. They loved the memorabilia on display throughout the pub but equally the lunch menu. Served quickly but with some lovely fresh ingredients, it left us all replete. Will be back for sure

A lovely surprise evening meal for four of us and the welcome from all the staff was excellent. All the walls are covered in memorabilia and what a wonderful tribute it all is. The star was Bomber the black Labrador. £90 for 4 inc drinks.

As you enter you aare struck by the memorabi;ia on the walls of the Dambusters, it is a living history lesson and the food is very good too. Best to order a sandwich if its your first visit as there is so much to see and read the food will go cold.

Went for an early evening drink here. Have been a few times before and it is a nice pub. Decided to order some chips as a snack. Felt like this was an inconvenience to the staff, we were then charged £6.50 for each portion of chips. When we queried this we were told it was for a large portion, it was not. Felt very unwelcome and that our custom was not appreciated. Will think twice before going back.

I visited today with my daughter and her boyfriend both are vegetarian. They loved the options available but opted for sandwiches as they weren't very hungry. I had the sausage and mash. We were all extremely happy with the food. It was delicious and we can't wait to go back again as they want to try the nut roast next time or vegetarian lasagne. The staff are so friendly and I wish I lived in the village to have this pub as my local. Love it here!

Tonight we went to this pub to celebrate what would have been my late farther’s birthday who recently passed. We had a table for 8 including 3 children. The staff were extremely nice and accommodating. We knew this wasn’t a pub set up to particularly cater for children but they was so nice and friendly giving us extra plates so they could share some of the dishes available.

We sadly lost a family member and contacted the Black Horse to host the wake. From point of contact with Josh to the actual event, was dealt with professionally and with sympathy. On the day it went smoothly and we were welcomed warmly. We were taken care of the entire time and the buffet that was laid out for us was beyond expectations. Even with a late add on of numbers, which was despite the lateness not a problem. The supply of constant tea and coffee was welcomed by our guests. Cannot fault or thank the team enough for their attention and care of our family in a difficult time.

Had lunch there with my husband today and we both had the Wolds platter which was substantial and very tasty. Beautifully presented and using local cheeses and meats. Highly recommended and we will return to sample more of their varied menu in the near future.
