The food is good but the service is pathetic. They're always short of staff and always wanting us to leave ASAP. Ask them for water and they will make faces. Between 4 people, they'll bring 2 glasses. They have another branch called Amravati - service is far better there.

First of all,its not hygienic place.the manager was talking on the phone and taking so long to cater for the customers who were waiting at the dining table.there were chips fallen down on the floor under the table as the previous customers finished their eating and nobody cleaned the table and the floor just kept taking order on the phone.Didn’t bother about the next customers.staff was quite few.service was rubbish.after waiting for 15-20 minutes when manager came to us to ask for order and he was told off by us for not keeping it hygiene moreover he was very rude instead of accepting his mistake.food came very late after ordering.he was serving food with same unhygienic hands and attending the phone also.watching mobile also. Completely rubbish food place.will never recommend to anyone.

I have come to this lovely establishment for sometime due to their excellent quality of food. If you are a connoisseur of South Indian food then look no further than this place. They also do Indo Chinese cuisine and a variety of sundry items. The flaky parota and korma as the Mendu vadas are a must try here. The staff here are very polite and attentive. Service is very good. This is a pure vegetarian restaurant and does have vegan dishes. There is no alcoholic bar on the premises and all payments are only accepted in cash.

Avoid!!!!! Guys food is great but staff doesn’t make you feel welcomed at all. Almost everything we ask for they said no, even if Cash said don’t accept Scotland GBP. Asked for packing remaining food - they dint have right packing material. They have put up so many boards of speaking respectfully to staff now one realize it’s because they get you on nerves of customer pickle not available, packing not available, paratha 1 not available only 2, only English pounds not Scottish pounds…. They were eager to shutter down shop then giving guests a good experience. Exactly opposite to store next to them which is Street Taste where they went out of way to make customers experience fabulous

We absolutely love this dosa place as a family and it is our first choice for delicious South Indian food. Meghana is especially welcoming and builds great rapport with us and our kids. The dosas are fresh and made to order. The mysore sada dosa is my absolute favourite. For those who fancy a curry, their charminar curry is to die for!!! Finger licking food with a lovely friendly and welcoming atmosphere! A big thank you to the entire team.

INCOMPETENT STAFF| MISSING FOOD|NO REFUND Ordered 2 dosa and 2 biriyani. And they literally forgot to give us any chutney and sambar with it. I rang them about this and the staff told me that they we BUSY thats why they have forgotten to put it. How they can forget to put sambar and chutney when you are packing dosa and literally being a South Indian restaurant. They do not forget to take the payment, they took the full payment and half of the stuff is missing.

Been here with my family , enjoyed delicious South Indian thali + Podi idli + samosa. will visit again whenever get chance :) Only down side is, very limited seating space, some time need to wait for the table availability. overall value for money

Authentic southern Indian; especially Andhra and Tamil style food. Some of the menu has Andhra dishes is itself a refreshing break from the usual generalizations of idli, dosa and vadas. Good choice of everyday specials! Babu has now his nephew to man this branch while he's leading the second one about 10 minutes away. Food could be served a bit faster; but practically speaking, it's been busy with orders including people arriving for takeaways. Table service can be improved. All the best to them!

Amazing food, and the way they prepare was very good. We had dosa,Dahi puri and pani puri taste was super good. I am big fan of Mysore masala dosa.if u want South Indian food u must visit dakshin.i am an Indian, i did not get this taste any were in Uk. The service is good the way they welcoming and they treating towards the customers is good.

I have always loved their Mesur masala dhosha. But today when i went the receptionist was very very rude to me. Even when i placed an order she said very rudely “now go and sit there” and there were other incidents which i cant describe it here. But yeah maybe she was having a bad day or something… was rude to the customers.

A small restaurant nested on the main road. Food was decent and so were the drinks. Price tags were reasonable. But, the service was a bit sloppy!

I recently had the misfortune of dining at what can only be described as the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. A group of five of us walked in with high hopes, but those hopes were quickly dashed by the horrendous customer service and appalling treatment we received. To start, when we asked to move one chair around so we could sit at the end of the table, the staff flatly refused, acting as if it was an enormous inconvenience. Things only went from bad to worse. The most shocking part was when the staff, in a completely unprovoked manner, threatened, "I will walk past and spill hot sambar on you and it won't be my fault." Can you imagine? This is the kind of treatment you’d expect at a third-rate establishment, not anywhere that calls itself a restaurant. And as if that wasn’t enough, we later discovered a long strand of hair in one of our dishes—an Utthapam. Before we could even take a photo to show management, the waitress snatched the tray from the table in a rush, as if trying to hide the evidence. When we raised the issue, we were told, with no apology or concern, that hair in food is “normal” and happens all the time. Absolutely unbelievable. The level of incompetence and disregard for basic customer satisfaction was mind-blowing. And don't even get me started on the lack of knives! How does a restaurant not provide knives to its customers? The entire meal felt like a series of errors and insults, and we were given no compensation, no explanation, not even a simple apology. This place was a nightmare from start to finish. If you value your time, your money, and your dignity, do yourself a favor and avoid this restaurant at all costs. It's not worth the frustration or the headache. Save yourself from the worst dining experience you’ll ever have. Never again

Service was so rude found hair in food instead of apologising took plate away and said nothing. We have coming here since it opened so disappointed

Really disappointed with dakshin, 5 of us went today. We were happy to sit on a table of 4 with one person at the one end of the table, however the staff were extremely adamant that we sit separately on 2 different tables as there wasn’t enough room for her to walk past with the food (baring in mind that there was enough room for a bus to fit through), so already beginning our time here poor. We then proceeded to order the chilli paneer and chilli chips which both tasted okay - nothing special. For mains we ordered 3 uttapams. We wanted to share one uttapam between two people however the staff then insisted she would not give us the same type of plate again which was was weird. We then found hair in one of the uttapams!! To be fair to the manager he was a nice guy so we agreed to not pay for 2 uttapams. The other staff were really rude and the chef was giving me a dirty look.

Affordable, tasty and fresh for dosas. Not a fan of chilli paneer though. If you want a very good dosa go to Dakshin. And cash only. Slight inconvenience but not a problem for us.

Went to restaurant with family. There is no management at all. 2 family already waiting in queue and a random family comes and grabs a table. The lady managing cash counter is clueless and doesn't support the right thing. Will never visit such a restaurant where there is no management and respect for customers waiting in queue.

To my amazement, tap water was given half glass full with no jug. Asked for more and never got it. We haven't came for a while hear, but the food is now pretty bland. Tap water can be given at almost every doorstep through out the world. To try and make people feel low and profit from it, is a all time moral low value. Shame on you Dakshin.

Amazing South Indian taste food. We had last time dosa and some chats. This time we had thali which reminded me of my childhood days back in India. Rasam and other curries was so delicious like authentic taste. Meghana is very good and friendly girl. X

The food is really outstanding every meal we had was full of favour and cooked to perfection I really suggest paneer butter masala, butter naan and rava masala dosa… Hands down some of the most delicious food I’ve eaten lately!!and The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive❤️

❌❌No friendly staff at all. ❌❌ Worst treatment to the customers. I went with my friend and ordered two different dosa's. From which one of dosa was wrong. After correcting it one of the staffs gave me a terrible look as it was my fault that she didn't heard my order properly. Secondly, when we were still sitting and having tea one of the staffs was in a hurry to clean the table , she didn't wait for us to finish. And then, the other staff came and "Rudely" asked us to get up and insulted us in front of all the customers. As there was a family waiting outside the the restaurant. So if there are people waiting outside will you ask the people to get up and leave. Raised her voice when I said I did not liked the treatment we got. ❌I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND "DAKSHIN" TO ANYONE FROM NOW ❌ Horrible treatment ❌❌❌❌

We ended up in this place today due to the closure of Shiv Sagar and had a bad taste with food and service. Podi ghee idli was good and thats the only good thing of the night. Masala dosa served with cold chutneys and big chunks of potato masala, phav bhaji which is not in the menu but we ordered it seeing it is being served to a different table and quickly realized the resaon behind it not being in the menu, it was toasted bun with potato curry. On top of it this guys dont accept card payments which is mentioned in the corner of the table and will not be informed to customers when they are seated. Board says no card but then my next table paid by card, when asked lady in the counter says card is accepted for 30 and above only(which is not mentioned anywhere in the restaurant). Lady at the counter is really arrogant and shows her tantrum by throwing stuff around when asked for anything. They dont have basic etiquette on how to interact with the customer. Save your money and time , visit one of the other restaurants for better food and experience. As i cant reply to owners reply, editing the review. I am not tarnishing anything, just stating what happened. You response is clear indication of your restaurants attitude towards your customer. 1. I was with my wife and daughter. My wife had to step up and ask your manager to behave. You have to stop defending yourself with false allegations. 2. One of your waiters came to our table and apologized for your managers behavior. 3. Read more reviews about your restaurant and you will realize its just not me. 4. Stop playing gender card for these things, i was talking infront of my daughter and i am very much aware of giving respect.

Hemos estado viniendo a este restaurante desde hace años y esta vez en particular cuando entramos nos dijeron (por niñas relativamente nuevas) que no podíamos tener la mesa que elegimos, más tarde nos sentamos en la mesa que nos asignaron, debido a la carretera ocupada y desde que nuestro bebé estaba durmiendo cerramos la puerta que estaba detrás de la mesa que se abre a la carretera. Luego de nuevo la misma chica vino y cerró la puerta, cuando dije que lo quiero cerrado nos pidió de nuevo que nos mudáramos a una mesa apretada sin espacio. Le pregunté si hacía calor, entonces ella podría encender el aire acondicionado. En lugar de abrir la puerta pero según que no estaba funcionando. A las 3 de la tarde nos dijeron que no podemos tener el thali del sur de la India ya que las órdenes solo se toman hasta las 2 : 45 , un completo error y no se prestó ningún buen servicio arruinándonos el día

Tomé una Mysore Masala Dosa que se extiende con un chutney de chile caliente y relleno de papas y servido con 3 pequeños dips (chutney) y una pequeña sopa de lentejas (sambar). Esta es mi segunda vez aquí la última vez fue antes de COVID, la comida es consistentemente buena, a un precio razonable (£ 10 inc Mango Lassi). Llegué demasiado tarde para probar el Thali, así que intentaré llegar antes para comprobarlo. ¡TEN EN CUENTA SOLO EL EFECTIVO!

Higiene alimentaria... “ZERO” Cabello humano largo encontrado en la... “ASQUEROSO” Una segunda familia se nos acercó para informarnos que tenían el mismo problema... pelo en su comida. No tener procedimientos básicos de higiene en la preparación de los alimentos significa contaminación al comerlos. Personal indiferente que claramente tiene quejas repetidas con respecto a la higiene.

Worst service I have ever received in my life. Absolute 0 service, at all. Ridiculous. We came in and asked for a table, the lady serving gave us a weird dirty look and asked us to wait outside. We came back in, and still had to wait for the table to be cleaned, and whilst finally doing so, the lady rudely pushed past us. We ordered two starters, with 0 plates, which we then had to ask for after. Isn’t that basic knowledge? Do we all eat from the main bowl? Our mains had also arrived, and we had to ask twice for all the drinks we ordered whilst the two ladies were busy gossiping. Even thought we had given our order for the drinks at the start, we were asked to repeat it again after they ‘forgot’. Still no apology, only rude attitude. Absolutely ridiculous and rude customer service, I would advise the two ladies to fix up, you lose customers this way.

Somewhat randomly stopped in here on a visit to Leicester, the food was all very good, the dosa was excellent! As was the thali. My first visit to a vegetarian restaurant and I did not miss the meat at all. Prices all reasonable too

Went there yesterday and had poori masala. As good as back home. Then followed by by masala tea which was the best. The service was amazing .

Great food! Best for dhosa, but customer service is very poor. They are not open to suggestions, nor do they acknowledge what is being suggested for improvement. Haven't experienced this sort of service here before and not happy with the way the staff behaved, it was not good customer service or professional at all.

If you ever tried Disappeared elsewhere and you were disappointed, then Dalwhinnie Place is for you. I've myself tried Dosa many places. However, you can not beat the taste here. So, Tasty, affordable, cosy environment. Highly recommended. Service level gone down they are less customer focus and don't even use polite language such as thankyou.

Paneer Dosa was amazing and ample amount of filling. Kids loved the cheese dosa and chilli Paneer. Prices are reasonable. Would highly recommend to others visiting Leicester. Thankyou to the Aunty Ji's for cooking the amazing food.

I absolutely love the food here, Dosas are crispy, Idlis are soft. Everything is freshly prepared with authentic taste. It's a little tight with limited seating but i have never had to wait long for a table. My favourite go to for a hearty South Indian meal!

Ordered a takeaway worth £15 Was told only takes cash no card. Card is for order over £30 sometimes is for orders over £20 I think it depends on the mood they are in. Receiving cash is purely to avoid paying tax.

I went to test their Thali, The food was good. But the Hidden thing is they give you very less Chapatti compared to other foods. And after they will charge almost half a price of Thali for two Chapatti. That's not fair. I don't recommend this place for Thali.

first ever south indian restaurant where you'd be charge for extra chutneys, wherein the chutneys served first time was not even a tablespoon full. food was not at all authentic south indian. staff themselves not enthusiastic serving customers. way back in the restaurant mentioned that they don't accept cards. Had not such great full experience that I'd recommend someone who's looking forward to eat authentic south indian food with good ambience and great customer service.
