After hearing so many great reviews about the Daily Bread cafe in Christ Church, I thought I’d try it for myself. My mum and I went this lunchtime. As someone was taking an order we noticed that it was table service, and went back for a menu as there were none on the tables. The menu looked impressive and we decided what we wanted, expecting someone to come out shortly to take our order. However, although I counted 4 staff members, not one of them acknowledged us. One person brought coffees to a table, then proceeded to chat to customers without clearing their table. She then proceeded to have a long conversation with a family on another table then disappeared behind the counter. The gentleman there was taking payment from customers then asked her to take our order as we were waiting. She proceeded to potter about and ignored him (and us) and didn’t leave the counter. The next staff member came out from the kitchen and stood behind the counter doing nothing. The gentleman then left the till and went into the main church area and didn’t take our order either. So the food may have been excellent, but we didn’t get to find out. After 20 minutes of these staff members completely blanking us and not even giving eye contact or acknowledging us we walked out. There are plenty of better places in Doncaster to eat, so I would suggest go there. The good May have been delicious…but we didn’t get chance to find out.

This was the first time I had visited here. I'd never even heard about it until my friend told me about the place. I'm so glad I tried it. What a fantastic little gem we have here in Doncaster. The place was fantastic. Great menu and such friendly staff. The food was was amazing. I had a cappuccino, Jacket potato with Prawns and carrot cake afterwards. It was actually hard choosing something as the there were so many great choices on the menu. I definitely will be back.

Visited with family for mum's 77th birthday. Ordered afternoon tea for 4. What an absolute bargain. All food freshly prepared and definitely homemade. The sandwiches were delicious and some fantastic choices. Quiche, sausage rolls, scotch eggs, all home made. Lots of choice of cakes and scones, all home made. All home made and absolutely superb. We took our youngest family member (9 months) and he enjoyed trying all the savoury items. Will definitely return soon. Staff 10 Food 10

Didn’t know this cafe existed until the morning of my visit, daughter mentioned it to me. We had lunch there, I had the most delicious ham hock home made soup with a brown bread roll, my daughter was delighted with her panini and side salad with home made coleslaw which was lovely. Grandson polished off all his lunch. The cakes/scones were very hard to resist, all home made. Friendly staff, table service. Lovely ambiance in the church. Would highly recommend.

We had been here once before under a previous management, when we thought the food was A. a bit pricey and B. a bit pretentious. Yesterday's experience was very different. The outside area when we walked up from the car park needed a bit of a clean, especial as the compound for litter is in full view and was full to the top of cartons and other rubbish. It wasn't a good first impression but we forgot all about it when greeted by a lovely member of staff, (Maisie?) who was very welcoming. Our table was in one of the small dining areas off the main bar area. We had a little wander around after we had eaten and the whole downstairs is very nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. Every member of staff we met was friendly, helpful and able to deal with our requests. We ordered two starters and mentioned that the third member of our party might be allowed to share. As a result, the waitress brought a third plate. The starters - fish cakes and ham terrine - were very nice indeed, although, in retrospect, I should have just had a main course, as the portions were quite generous. All three of us had the Barnsley Chops for a main and they did not disappoint. However, they were served in a shallow bowl and I would have preferred a proper dinner plate. It made cutting the meat from the bone quite difficult. We also had a side order of cauliflower cheese and it was enough for all three of us to share. Everything was very nicely cooked and presented. Dessert was the hazelnut cheesecake, which was pleasant, if a little bland. Very good coffee the end the meal. All in all, a very nice experience and I would recommend 1903 for a special lunch out.
