Dabbawalla Indian Kitchen in Wokingham

We visited to celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary this evening and every aspect of our experience was outstanding. Even the most simple dish was a culinary masterpiece and so beautifully presented. Every staff member was attentive, courteous and exceptionally well presented, however wish to mention Inder who made our evening so special.

This is not the first time I have visited Bombay Story but I haven't got around to writing a review yet. It is quite simply the most delicious Indian cuisine I have ever tasted anywhere in the United Kingdom. Imaginative flavours and spices, unusual combinations, beautiful presentation, absolutely delicious. The wines are excellent and the management and waiters, outstanding.

Ive now been here on two occasions and both times the food and service was absolutely amazing. The lamb chops, dhaal and garlic naan was really good. As a punjabi who loves his Indian food I would highly recommend this place.

Visited with a large family group of 16 of us. The service was exceptional and food delicious - could not fault it, will definitely be back and would highly recommend.

This is the first time I’ve had food from this restaurant. I ordered takeaway which was delivered by Deliveroo. The order came within 28 minutes. Nicely packaged using sustainable packaging. The food was still hot (and they’d had to come nearly 5 miles to deliver it). We had veg and lamb samosas, old Delhi butter chicken, NH19 chicken curry, basmati rice, dum ka dal, and a garlic naan. Samosas. Oh my god. Just absolutely exquisite. Two per portion, served with chutneys and chick pea salad. The flavours were just unbelievably good, the chutneys were a delight, you could taste the freshness of the coriander chutney. Mains. It just got better. NH19, just incredible. Flavours I’ve never experienced previously, subtle, with some spice and I honestly couldn’t fault it in any way. It was divine. My other half had the old Delhi butter chicken, again, just a new experience in flavours which are an absolute delight. Just so good. And contrasted was the dum ka dal, which was almost creamy, sour and delicious. The naan was good, the basmati rice beautifully flavoured, free-flowing. I’ve run out of superlatives to describe this food. All I can say is you have some seriously good ideas and chefs working there. Your food is beautiful, thank you. My next step is to come and visit the restaurant, and sample some of the food not available on the takeaway menu. Well done! A triumph!

We visited for the first time following a recommendation. It is a lovely new, modern restaurant with amazing food and excellent service. However it was seriously let down by the over priced drinks, the smallest bottle of coke £3.50 and a very mediocre bottle of red £40 ( retailing at £16) I understand there will be mark ups etc but this just felt excessive. Otherwise an enjoyable evening.

Let me say first the food was superb, the faults lay with the staff. Seated in the new section lacked atmosphere and needed either the windows/doors open if no air con as it was very stuffy and smelly. Order placed & drinks arrived after easily 15 minutes. The sparkling water was so warm you could have bathed a baby in it. We asked for ice twice and it never arrived. The food similarly arrived very slowly and once finished the dirty plates stayed on the table for 20 minutes only then cleared and main cutlery placed. Again meal finished and you are left with dirty plates again for over 20 minutes by this point we all wanted to leave. Requesting the bill, now this is an undertaking as now all staff have disappeared, just when I was about to go to the bar and ask for the bill a server arrives, a young tall fairhaired boy and we asked him for the bill. The bill arrived and due to the length of time for anything to happen we asked for the payment terminal which the server went to get. After much discussion with another server, they both then looked back at our table and laughed. Hmmm, why was this? Just a laugh with a fellow work mate or something aimed at our table? I can't say but we all felt extremely uncomfortable. Having been to Bombay Story over a dozen times this service or lack thereof is something we have never experienced. It has really questioned our desire to return after such very poor service from the staff. If had not been Fathers Day & my elderly father being present I would have requested the mandatory 12.5% tip to be removed as the level of service from the front of house staff was disgraceful.

Booked for dinner last night for a catch up with my friend. Both of us are non meat eaters but the selection was fantastic . I have a number of intolerances and the staff were helpful . The food was incredible! We enjoyed and savoured every mouthful. The waiting staff were excellent. Mocktails were divine. We have a really wonderful meal. One point is the tables for 2 are tiny. Not much room for the beautifully presented dishes. However this minor detail wouldn’t stop us from returning. All in all a gorgeous meal and can’t wait to go back! Yes it’s pricey but the portions are generous and the food is beyond delicious.

Made the most of the 2 cocktails for £19 Weekdays 2-6pm(I believe - double check🤔) the cocktails were amazing… So even if you’re not looking for a sit down meal (which this place is also awesome for) the terrace on a sunny day, with seriously yummy cocktails and nibbles should be high on your agenda 🫶🏼🤩🫶🏼

Amazing ambience, staff behaviour, and great food. We had breakfast and the innovation was impeccable! Be it spicy egg dosa or salmon kulcha or the naanwich - it was perfect! Highly recommend.

Superb food and atmosphere - sitting in the externally enclosed environment adds to the vibe. The catch is the price tag compared to any other similar cuisine, but the counter to that is this place isn't similar, it is a real step up.

My 5 year old had the best time this-morning making shortbread and naan bread at the cookery school. Getting to see his naan cooked in the tandoor oven was a highlight and it really encouraged him to try new food. Butter chicken is his new favourite !!

We booked this place for a private birthday party for 35 people. Everyone loved the food! It is so different to traditional Indian restaurants and explores other culinary delights that India has to offer. The service was amazing, so polite and accommodating. No request was too small. Even got the chance to thank the staff and chef afterwards. I would come here again.

Tonight was my 3rd visit to Bombay Story. The whole experience is always amazing. You are greeted warmly at the door, lots of help is offered even the menu if you need it. The food is absolutely exquisite and served in amazing dishes in perfect quantity. The staff are so well trained. They are so attentive, helpful and polite and are an absolute credit to the manager who is a charming and humble man. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough to you. It ticks every box, quality, ambiance, taste, service and so on. Well done Bombay Story, don’t change a thing!

Went with group of 9 and had booked. Got seated in the smaller upstairs area, which was nice. Very attentive service all evening from our waiter Chris, who patiently explained the dishes on offer as well as house specials. All food was amazing! We had lamb curry, butter chicken, vegetarian curry, prawn curry and sides of rice, naan breads and chickpeas. Very tasty and recommend.

We had an amazing New Years Eve experience at Bombay Story. The food was delicious and 6 courses was a real experience. We visited for the first time as few weeks before and loved it so had to return for New Years! And we’re just ordering a take away now too! We will be back. It’s pricey but the best meal ever!

We visited on a Tuesday night without a booking and the place was very busy. We were found a table by a very helpful member of staff. The menu is different to most UK Indian restaurants we have been to and was very interesting. The food was excellent and the staff very attentive and friendly. Only one niggle prevents a 5 star review; They add a "discretionary" 12.5% service charge to every bill. I was not sure if that goes to the staff in addition to their wage or if I am paying towards their wages in addition to the price of the meals on the menu, which are quite expensive anyway. I prefer to leave a tip in cash at the table so that I am sure that it goes to the people that I want to reward.

One of our go to restaurants in Wokingham always good, food excellent and service always helpful and attentive.
