D F C Chicken & Kebabs in Chelmsford

There is nothing redeeming about this chicken establishment which inhabits the dark voids that exist between time and space where you may or may not possibly eat something resembling tasty or of any real value. The wings are one of the worst in Chelmsford and are at the same / similarly priced as premium brands (KFC Wingstop, Popeyes) if you are not absolutely battered at 12-2am and there is literally no alternative available to fill your yearning booze ridden stomach then eat here, otherwise avoid like herpes. I only give 1 star as the peri mayo is passable.

Decent flavour on chicken, onion rings not my favourite. Pleasant service.

Came to Chelmsford for Creamfields, after a 40 minute walk back to the hotel we stopped off to get a kebab, staff were welcoming, ordered a chicken donner... When back at the hotel opened the box to find 2 lettuce leaves, a spoonful of mayo and a pitta bread that looked so sorry for itself it even turned over and apologised to us itself... thought maybe we'd gone to a health shop by mistake... But turns out it wasn't... Was only 3 people in the place... Other takeaways had ques out the door... School boy error

Absolutely disgraceful imagine your delivery driver Crying at the front door because he was that over worked, he told me to my face that I wouldn’t enjoy the food and when I didn’t accept it he was more happy then when he arrived what is going on down there I will be contacting the council tomorrow good luck guys

Staff are great. Food 'till the early hours of the morning. Opposite taxi rank, Train and Bus Station.

I went in tonight for a chicken burger and chips the guy who served me had such a good attitude and was so friendly and funny. They only took two mins to cook my food and you can watch a movie while in there too. I only had ten minutes to eat before my bus so I was very happy. Good vibes and the food was really tasty. Best chicken shop burger and chips I’ve had in years and I’m really picky thank you guys

Waited over 2 hours for my food and when it finally came was cold , hard and disgusting! Wish I looked at the reviews before I ordered ! Everyone says the same ! Called them 42 times no answers ! Absolute rip off shouldn’t be allowed on platforms such as Deliveroo or Uber eats ! Maybe if you directly in there and get your food it may be okay but it’s safe to say I won’t be purchasing food from there again !!!

Estimated time of delivery was 45 minutes, called after one hour and 10 minutes, to be told that driver will be with me in 2 minutes. After waiting another 20 min, called again and nobody answered. The food arrived after 1h and 40 minutes. Chicken wings were fade and tasteless, same as chips, and slightly warm. Definitely will not order again.

Yes, the fried chicken tastes good but it's let down by appalling service - consistently late (2+ hours delay quoted by others can happen) and being completely unreachable by phone. Zero remorse when you eventually do get through. If you can't keep up, why are you on three different delivery apps?

I had to wait 45 mins for my order tried yo ring restaurant to find out where it was finally got an answer after 45 mins no apology for the bad service then came the food chips were stone cold and chicken coleslaw was so shredded it waS like eating straw even when delivered the food was left on the wet doorstep to which the paper bag split and food was nearly dropped on floor yet again no apologies and chicken was not cooked enough either more juice than bbq beans go terrible will never order from here again please think twice before you order

Waited two hours for a delivery (was estimated 25 mins) tried calling several times and the phone just rings out. Food arrived hot but was soggy with oil! Lettuce in the burger was sour? Don't waste your time or money here.

Trust me if I could leave a less than 1star I would. Ordered food. Still has not turned up over an hour and 30 minutes later when was initially a 40minute wait time. Have been trying to contact the restaurant for last 30 minutes with no1 answering phoneline. Wife had to actually go and collect the food.

Good outlet but now too expensive. It's now £6 for chicken and chips here in store yet an outlet a few doors away charges £4 for the same with a drink. That's nearly bargain bucket for 1 territory from kfc where you get far more for a similar price. Only recently it was £5 here which even that I thought was too much. . I love dfc as the food is always good quality but I won't pay those prices any more on principle.

why am i waiting an hour for my order?

Waited an hour and a half. Tried calling 20 times but no answer. Eventually decided to microwave something. That was ready. Then driver turned up. I took 2 bites of the unbelievably late food and threw it in the bin because it was cold and dry.

Chips are nice to be fair, the chicken is alrighty, but too soft and oily, it lacks crunch, the problem see here is too much oil and too much marinating of the chicken, try reducing this and adding less oil, sauces etc and adding more dough for crunch, then the balance will be perfect, although the spicyness was nice, i feel like that the crunch and the chicken coming of the bone wayyyy to easily ruins it.

Just got my meal after 2 hours wait it was stone cold after trying to warm it abit we ended up bining it as the meat from the lamb shish kebab was all gristle and the lamb doner was rock hard

Why are you not picking up your phone? I've made an order which shouldn't require much time to prepare as most items of stored in a wamer (chicken wings) another is a milkshake which won't take 5 minutes to make, a pot of sauce and some Baklava which is always made the day before or in the morning so simply requires taking out of the fridge. I specifically ordered these low effort items because it is late and I have work early in the morning and I've been given an ETA of 1 hour. Also, I chose you are you are close to my hotel. So you've taken my money, I'm now not satisfied with the wait time and have tried ringing you copious amounts of times to no avail. Customer server is already off to a bad one. If you have a phone, answer it. I shall keep trying in the hopes you can redeem yourselves. Otherwise, I won't have any choice but to keep your reviews negative. Why you are chosing to sabotage your own business in this way is beyond me. Maybe something eventful is happening in the shop, let's see. EDIT: As promised, here is a fair update. The food did arrive, about 20 minutes before expected. The driver was polite and pleasant. The food, although the Milkshake wasn't that cold the rest was actually quite nice. The wings are rather good if you like your wings with a little kick (nothing too much, just right). It certainly seemed dodgy at first, taking my money then ghosting my phonecalls and there are plenty reviews on here experience similar issues with the restaurant not answering the phone. To the owner of the restaurant, stop alienating your customers by ignoring them, this is what gets you bad reviews. I'm one of a few who is willing to come back like I said when the food has arrived to update the review. But there is no excuse for not answering your phone. Think of it this way, what if someone accidentally orders something in which they are unsure if the ingredients within they may be allergic too, simply wanting to know "Does this contain nuts?" or what have you. It's a VERY basic, VERY simple rule of running a business. Communication! Please for the love of god sort this out and pull yourselves together. Star rating has been ammended but you will not be getting anything past 3 stars until you begin to act like a professional business and restaurant/take-away. Please learn from this.

Ordered a delivery at 12-30pm it’s already been an hour and a half. They don’t even pick up the phone. Very very disappointing. I’d suggest to order elsewhere.

The worst kebab ever!! Waited an hour and a half. Chicken shish wrap was a massive disappointment, 4 pieces of tiny dry chicken, ordered it with sauce and salad, there was no sauce in the wrap and a few slices of tomato as ‘salad’. Meat and chips was cold and also dry!! Do NOT order from here!!!

Overpriced for what it is. Wings and chips were decent. Chicken doner not to my liking but their lamb doner might be better.

Stopped of on way home from work at 23.15pm ordered a done &shish kebab potatoes n chicken piece was beautiful tasted amazing plenty of salad and meat but what pleased me most was finally a kebab shop asked how I'd like my shish cooked I went mid rare finally a kebab shop that recognised shish is steak and should be cooked in dif ways to customers liking . I'm sorry to give this rating. I ordered late at night and received a tasteless food. The fried chicken was tasteless and even the doner chicken that was delivered. I ordered coz I was lazy to cook but ended up improvising and cooking the chicken they send me. I regret ordering from DFC and will never do again.

I have to leave a review on this place. I have ordered from DFC 3 times this week because I just cant get enough. Their chips are perfect. Their chicken burger meal is built perfectly! Their wings are perfect. Love the wings. I usually order chicken burger meal and 4 wings. Its perfect every time. They didnt have curry sauce and refunded me straight away. They then updated their just eat page right away, to refleft this. Which is very good of them. I ordered my order last night and not only was it still amazing, but the service was incredibly fast! If anyone in chelmsford fancies chicken please do go here! It is really good! The only thing I would change on the justeat site. Is to make it possible to order the chicken and hashbrown burger meal or a double chicken burger as a meal. As I would love to order a larger burger. Other than that please do keep up the good work! Thanks guys you really deserve the 5 stars!!!

Great tasting food, not only is their chicken tasty but I would recommend their turkish pizza, never tried something like this before but very tasty!

Really tasty food and crispy well flavoured chicken! Had a great time with the fellas after work coming for dinner. Cheesy chips were amazing too. All four of us were pleased with our meal they really looked after us especially Yigit. Thanks DFC.

I’m completely in LOVE with their chicken 😂 no but seriously they have the best chicken I have ever had in my life, their burgers are so tasty and good, I recommend the chicken fillet with bacon and hash brown I pretty much order food from here everyday and it meets all of my expectations, I highly recommend to try their food , especially their chicken

DFC is the best chicken & chip shop in Chelmsford. Chicken wings are very fresh and have great flavours, the pizzas are freshly baked and taste sublime.

Great quick service. Got food within like 3 minutes nice and hot. Big portions and fills you up. The restaurant is a little small however and not much room to sit down.

This wasn't my best chicken experience. The chicken was warm NOT hot. My meal was originally £5.50 for burgers chips and a drink. I had to pay £0.50 for paying with card. So in total i paid £6 for this below average meal. The chips were a solid 4/5, Burger 2/5, Drink (Fanta) 5/5. Honestly don't spend this amount of money at this place just go to nandos for an extra £2.

From poor review that I have just read!! I visited and the owner was very approachable and ordered small chips and chicken wings. Because I had to wait 10 mins, I had large chips instead and as a bonus I had a drink from my own choice.However, for the first time visited food was ok but hygiene in the work place much be looked at again.

We ordered a takeaway from here and it was all wrong, cold and bad quaility. Some people weren't well the next day. Avoid!

I was served a piece of chicken that was unidentifiable. It had been sat under a heat lamp for a long time and was devoid of any moisture. Owner instantly gave me a refund. I had eaten here plenty of times before but will never try again.
