Curry Mecca in Gravesham

We had a lovely evening meal here , the food was very good , the staff very attentive and a good ambience in the restaurant, Ash was our main waiter he had an amazing sense of humour and we had a lot of laughs ! The restaurant was packed which shows how popular this Indian restaurant is in gravesend- we will be back soon !

We returned for another visit, you will not be disappointed here the service is very good the staff are very friendly, the food is great highly recommended

The food here is amazing, I have been twice in the last 6 months (not local to me) and I would highly recommend. The guy greeted us with energy and enthusiasm, he is a delightful character who added to our experience. The poppadoms and sauces excited us to what was ahead. I eat curry fairly regularly but this is my first review of a curry house. The king prawns are actually what you'd expect a king prawn to look and taste like!! The flavours and spices are on point, the bread fresh and we'll made/cooked and all priced reasonably. Most importantly the morning after did not leave me asking questions as other stablishments have previously. Recommend this place, recommend it to people without having tried it... they will be thankful of you!!

Went here last night with a colleague and the food was so good!! We're working here but would definitely come back if in the area.

Was looking at trying a different takeaway. Have not been to curry Mecca for years so thought I’d give it a go. Takeaway for 5 and did not disappoint. Good was fresh hot and very tasty. Lamb madras was excellent, full of flavour and spice. Will be venturing here again.

I booked for myself, husband and daughter on a Friday night using the online booking form on the website. I was told a £30 holding fee would apply but so long as we turned up the fee would not actually be charged. This is a lie. I was charged plus almost £80 for dinner. I have contacted both curry Mecca and the online booking neither of whom had responded. Very unprofessional. Now with my credit card and will be reporting curry Mecca. On top of that The meal itself was not great. We had to wait almost an hour for our meal - When questioned where food was we were initially told it was because we ordered duck and that took a long time to cook!! Eventually they admitted it was their mistake but didn’t offer a discount either. We certainly would not recommend and would not return

Orederrd a tekeawy for delivery from here after waiting 3 hours for it to arrive we eventually went and picket it up, the chicken tikka had bones in it and was chewey and for £63 the portions were small. Won’t be using again

We decided to get a takeaway from here having eaten here and ordered takeaways many times over the past 40 years. The food was not great. If we had been served this in the restaurant, we would have complained. The onion bhajees were not hot and possibly not freshly cooked. They were stale tasting and dry. The chicken tikka was very strange. The bounciness of the chicken in your mouth made you think it may have been undercooked but it was not. It was difficult to chew or bite into. I appreciate NYE they were going to be busy. We telephoned our order at 5pm and collected at 5.45, as instructed. The journey home took 10 minutes but none of the dishes were that warm & definitely not hot. The chicken in the other 3 dishes was nice, just not hot. This was possibly the worst meal we have had in quite some time. Will not be rushing back

Had an absolutely fantastic experience here yesterday. Some of the best Indian food I've ever eaten, with fantastic service (food was brought out quickly, and all of the staff were incredibly polite and pleasant), and reasonable prices. We were in a large party of 14, and they were able to accommodate us easily. I literally have nothing bad to say. Incredibly impressed, and I'll definitely be returning again. Thank you guys!

Shockingly slow delivery. Order placed online at 17:47pm, then got a phone call to say they were outside at 19:09pm. That's 1 hour and 22 minutes. I only ordered 1 madras, 1 plain rice and 1 naan. I phoned to ask what was taking so long, and the man on the phone was very unbothered, and blamed "the road", which was obviously a lie. Terrible attitude. If they called and politely explained they needed more time, I would have been okay with that. But they didn't. Most people won't wait more than 1 hour for a takeaway, and waiting 1 hour is already on the longer side. Whilst the food itself was fine, the delivery and customer service was unacceptable. Will never order again.

Ordered take away - total cost was £50 between 3 of us Chicken was pink Didn't eat any of it. Never using them again.

We've tried quite a few of the Indian restaurants in the area and THIS is the one we keep coming back to. The food is always very good and the staff have taken care of us every time. Keep up the good standard and we will keep returning. Great tandoori dishes too.

The food here was fantastic....unfortunately, when the starters come out 5-10min after the mains it doesn't really sit well, especially when you ask shouldn't the starters come first....yes £20 was taken off of the bill but 4 out of the 5 starters weren't eaten and this came to more than the £20! An apology being received from the manager should link in with covering the starters that weren't eaten as a result surely?

The Staff are brilliant and the food was amazing. Lamb Chops was on point.

AlThough we tried to prior book on the phone, they didn't answer, and when we turned up, they said they needed the table for an 8o clock booking. This was at 6.40pm and we agreed to vacate by 8.00pm. We ordered beers and poppadoms and 10 minutes later were asked if we were ready to order to which we answered not quite. We were then approached by the manage Ash Hussain who demanded we order immediately as he wanted the table. The staff were intimidated. The whole experience was dreadful . So we paid only for the drinks and left feeling upset and the wonderful waiting staff being bullied. Until that horrible owner can find a new opportunity for his non skills. We cannot recommend this establishment.

The only place I go for a curry. Excellent food and service.

night out with the lads ( well all 4 of us ) greta meal as ever. Portions are great.. the food portions are brilliant.. as a group we love the place. Staff are very helpful and eager to help. The waiter happy to suggest different ideas against your normal and to assist if taking home left overs.. Brilliant

Absolutely stunning. The food here is so good, it has me cheating on my regular Curry house! I've had the Rezzala, the Lal Mirch, and other dishes - they're all fantastic. The sauces are thick and rich and not too sweet and not at all watery. The Bombay potato is nice, can't fault the other sides either! The service is also very good and another thing I can't fault. My group are all a big fan of spice but the dishes seem to be plenty flavourful even when it's a mild dish. So caters to all tastes.

Absolutely fantastic food, we have been coming here monthly now. We are treated like friends here. Wonderful service by MJ along with a great sense of humour. If you want a good curry come here. I’ve recommended it to friends; it’s now their favourite curry house.

Been eating at Curry Mecca on and off for 40 years it has always been great food . The restaurant itself has been updated but the food is still the great standard and the service is also still great . Let's see if I can get another 40 years 👍

For two to three years, two friends, my wife and I have been trying out restaurants in the Gravesend area. Over the course of this time we have tried out a number of different cuisines with the intention of finding our favourite go-to restaurant. Without a doubt, Curry Mecca got our vote and we have now been going on a monthly basis for some 18 months. I fail to understand some of the criticisms levelled at the food and staff. Our meals have always been excellent and the staff, especially the manager, treat us like friends. I wonder what does please those reviewers who are so critical!

Very poor on this occasion. Five of us visited on a Saturday evening. We waited an hour between courses. When the food arrived (both starters and mains) it was wrong. When the mains did arrive correctly it was tasteless. The staff tried very hard but they were clearly too busy to accommodate all diners.

My wife and I visited curry mecca on New Year’s Eve to start our night off. Service was great as usual but the food was tasteless. I had a balti and my wife a korma. Both had no taste at all. Which is very disappointing as we have eaten here and had take aways in the past. I feel this was our last meal in the restaurant. We just wanted to leave asap and not even enjoy a last drink.

AVOID AVOID AVOID. Worst takeaway in kent. I ordered at 5.30pm on new years eve and had to wait until gone 7.15pm for my food when i was told 1 hour. The fish pakora are covered in breadcrumb. They forgot the popadoms. The manager Ash has a problem with listening to customers. When i placed the order on the phone i said ensure all dishes are labelled as some are the same but mild and some spicy. They could not even do that. Garlic naans were all cold. Work on your menu and ensuring food is hot and make sure you do not miss food and work on your customer service!

Food was delivered on time (which is why I’m giving 3 stars) however, the food was very bland and had very little flavour. Curry and saag paneer was plain/bland, coconut rice & onion bhaji’s were ok but nothing to be over the moon with. Disappointed as the reviews seemed really good and was looking forward to it, I don’t fancy eating the rest to be honest…☹️.

I would have liked to have an order delivered,but not by Just Eat,they inflate the prices and charge too much for delivery,shame really after all the good reports I was looking forward to a meal.

Best Indian restaurant in gravesend it's a achievement fantastic chef and owner very welcoming nothing like this place in Kent, my friends travel down from Hernebay and whitstable to use it also. Try it rate it for yourself & enjoy the excellent cuisine on offer you will be pleasantly surprised how good it is .....

This place has the most amazing Chicken biriyani (Request the Bengali style). The service and reception from these guys was also amazing. Will be coming here again!

We went for a meal to celebrate my daughters birthday. Lovely warm friendly restaurant. Asked our server for guidance on some of the dishes. All the food was beautifully cooked and delicious. Very relaxing atmosphere. Would highly recommend. Definitely want to eat here again.

I want to start by saying I used to love the curry Mecca but last night had a delivery and it was awful it took over 2 hours to arrive and don’t get me wrong if they were really busy or under staffed it would only take a quick call to the customer to say there is a delay , when it arrived it was cold , the mushroom Bhaji has no flavour neither did did the Bombay potatoes , the nam bread was cold and really doughy , one of the currys had leaked in the bag would not order from here again the best thing about it was the poppadoms but that was a lot of money for them really disappointed

Food had some good taste and the service was superb but unfortunately I have been very ill since. We are 48 hours past my meal at Curry Mecca and I still can't eat. Great for a diet but ruined NYE and NYD.

First time back since the reopening. Modern light interior with the normal dishes on the menu. Some interesting chefs specials. The food had definitely improved. Very good service as well.

Order an takeaway from there website and thought I'd better give up on it.. when 2 hours and 28 minutes went by and numerous phone calls only to find the engaged tone pretty sure the phone was off the hook.. can someone please tell me when I should of given up on this one OMG

Since the reopening,my wife and I have ventured to Curry mecca twice and have not been let down. The food is fantastic,with such a variety of delicacies and tastes. The staff are very helpful and welcoming,and we will definitely return to such a wonderful restaurant .

50 years on and still one of the best curry houses you will find . The refurbishment of the restaurant is beautiful, but has managed to retain the feel of the original Mecca . I found out that the original owner passed and his son has taken over, he has done a great job keeping his father's dream relevant and alive. Very friendly person who you can have a bit if a laugh with . Food , is 100% , great value without compromising on quality . I wish this family well continuing the business for another 50 years . Top class

Curry Mecca has been an icon in Gravesend for years and we have eaten there many times until its gradual decline. Now it has been knocked down and rebuilt and we thought we would give it a try, so glad we did the new owner is helpful, with a good sense of humour, the food is definately the best curry i've had for a while so will definately be back.

Best curry in Gravesend. Standards in some of the other curry houses in Gravesend have dropped but the Mecca just gets better. Best madras I've ever had.

Ordered a takeaway Saturday, they said it will be forty minutes , after an hour I phoned and was told it's on it's way. Fifteen minutes later I phoned again and they were surprised I hadn't received it but it will be there . Another fifteen minutes I phoned and cancelled it as I said if it turns up it will be cold. They said yes it would be cold and if it turns up I could have it on the house. The meal did turn up and yes a bit cold, a pop in the micro wave and nice and hot . The food was actually very tasty and well done the Curry Mecca for doing the decent thing. Will order again as the food is very nice.

We called last night Saturday 2nd may to place an order for a delivery the person who answered the phone was so rude! We enquires about the 10% discount that is on the menu and also was posted on Facebook this week and was told no it’s not on anymore why was this put on Facebook on Monday then when the price we was told the price it was actually cheaper to order through just eat when we told him this his response was order on just eat then! After that we told him not to worry and ordered from another curry house. We have been using curry Mecca for years to eat in and get a takeaway and was extremely disappointed with the service

With storm Dennis raging it was the perfect opportunity to stay in and have a takeway curry. Curry Mecca hit just the right spot, a beautifully prepared chicken Jalfrezi, okra and nan bread. The generous portion was delicious from start to finish. Thank you!

Was happy with my food and service, everything was great just in my opinion it's a bit overpriced, portions was good size for a meal just price is a bit higher than expected. Although waiters was friendly and helpful, not really busy place so you get good attention. Car park just around the corner. Had great chicken tika biriani.

We pre ordered the night before and had food delivered on time piping hot and so tasty for 20 people for a family gathering.

I haven't tried much from the menu because I really like hot stuff. Vindaloo and phall. However the phall was absolutely delicious and mega hot. Never had a bad experience from Curry Mecca. No complaints at all. Delivery always in good time.

Food was absolutely gorgeous. I would definitely recommend it and I will certainly return. One of the best quality for food. By far the nicest I have tasted in a long time.

Lovely little place, well worth the effort to find it

We for an evening walk around Gravesend and found this place by chance.Small but well light, and also quite for a Wednesday evening, only 2 tables were taken including mine.There's Cobra on draught, and Tiger, Kingfisher in bottles.My meal consisted of a started, main (hottest meat dish on the menu) rice and a nan bread. Total cost was £21.10, which is very reasonable. My main dish was excellent, as was the nan bread.I'll no doubt be back there again soon
