Curry House Indian Takeaway (Merryoak) in Southampton

The food tastes lovely but has been cold on the last three weeks. I haven’t mentioned anything before but tonight I phoned up as the temperature was 48c !! All I got told was that I should collect rather than delivery! So it was my fault!! I won’t be ordering from them again!

Really disappointed. Used on and off for years but now never will again! Appalling customer service! Who ever was taking the orders on Friday 5th July shouldn’t be allowed to be dealing with customers ! More or less accused me of lying as denied I had ordered some items despite everyone else hearing me and me actually spelling the item out to him. We Waited one hour thirty, one order of main dish missing ( the one I apparently didn’t order) and half of biriyani order (the rice part ) which he did send plus another rice ?? The worst of it wasn’t the missing food which was annoying after such a long wait but the attitude from whom ever was answering the phone, he was very argumentative and rude , bordering on passive aggressive . The others with me were shocked at his tone. Never had a problem before this so maybe under new management but will be staying clear from now on.

We ordered last year June, the food was excellent and the service was perfect. Thank you very much for the tasty food.

I was in this Indian not too long ago and the staff has always been nice but all of a sudden a really really really drunk man called Thomas Davies I think walked in and started ruining the place he started yelling “ f the Spanish and f Tenerife” and the staff started agreeing

Murghi chicken mushroom, chicken lovely, sauce very salty, garlic coriander naan, no coriander and bland. Pilau rice stodgy, shame as had before and was lovely, don't know if it's under new ownership

Omg, we had such a lovely curry last night for my son's 15th birthday (his choice). Everything tasted amazing looked good and great potion sizes too. Would highly recommend. We will be back

Ordered from deliveroo and got sent completely the wrong thing, some rank thing with prawn instead of chicken Ceylon, and chicken biryani instead of duck. Either don't understand English or just don't give a toss.

Food was lovely, wasn’t completely blown away but was very tasty. Great size portions and good food quality, will definitely be ordering again🙂

Ordered food they said a hour on Saturday, Went in to pick it up had to wait another 28 mins, not good then the food came out he did not apologise. I spent nearly £40, got home the food was not hot the dishes were half empty my meat bhai a on 5 bits of meat. The chicken mosala no taste at all, my Nan burnt, it’s like what is this… used to be a good place , don’t waste ur money ….. I will not go back.

Didn't receive the chapati we ordered and when the delivery driver handed me the bag, it was so full it broke, fell to the floor and all our curry spilled out of the containers into the bottom of the bag He then said it was my fault for not listening to him and left. We scooped our mixed curry out and tried to enjoy it with our destroyed popadoms.

Second time I've ordered from this place and both time's they have been amazing!?!, I know there was some sort of bad reviews regarding this place but honestly it's been so lovely every time I've had food from there and the lovely gentleman that delivered my food was really polite and nice, so well done guys keep it up and ignore all the horrible and negative people!

After a bad review in newspaper I am still eating beautiful food from the curry house. Spoke to the owners any problems were sorted most of them outside premises. Hoping the newspaper doesn’t close down a local business, and before you say I’m not a family member.

Chicken in the Madras was hard and tough and had some slimy fatty bits in it and had no flavour, sause was hot but tasteless, pilau rice had no flavour, bombay potatoes hard and peshwari nan was cold , rubbery and tasteless. used to use this curry house all the time but no more

It was horrible. It was late and cold.but didn't want to reheat the rice so that was 2 dishes in the bin. Called to complain snd they wouldn't answer the phone. No meat in any of the dishes( well like 3 chichen strips that iceand does ,No chicken breast that you expect). The buttered chicken was the sauce they use for a korma. If I'd wanted a korma I'd of ordered one. Spent £40 and the only thing worth eating was the onion salad. I.had to pay for stale old poppadoms that were stale though. Cooked some of my own in the microwave

Food absolutely tasteless,I have ordered chilli panner which was 5 pieces of paneer cheese covered in sweet chilli sauce with 1 pieceof paprika and undercooked onion... Palak paneer and chicken bryani looked nothing like palak panner and chicken bryani and was absolutely tasteless. Rice was soggy and also disgusting. Everything was disgusting and very questionable.I hope I will not get food poison!

Please read: Ordered this takeaway, our order was out for delivery for over half hour, when it arrived it was stone cold we rang up to complain and was told they will refund us, I then received a refund for just £4.60 in an order over £20 we then rang back up to complain and was told we weren't getting the refund back as they provide heated equipment to keep the food warm (which it wasn't) Uday made me feel I was lying. He advised this happens when you do not collect! He said all he can offer is the chips to be refunded and a free starter and main next time, we are a family who doesn't have money to just waste like that so we feel very disappointed

First time using here, will be the last. 2 curries both were watery, naan was thin and oily. Even the dips were watery, cutting corners clearly. Would avoid

Food arrived cold, chips were soggy and peshwari nan was very plain no flavour to it at all. Normally my go to takeaway but on this occasion I wasn't impressed

This is the worst takeaway I’ve ever been too, I never leave bad reviews but this is so bad I need to warn people, absolutely everything is greasy and I don’t mean just a bit of oil on the top the whole thing is disgusting, all The curry’s have the EXACT same sauce which is awful! Naan is bland and greasy (how tf do you make a greasy naan?!) chips old and greasy, went straight in the bin

Korma slightly spicy, charged us drinks, no drinks

Initial problem with wrong dish was very quickly and efficiently resolved. The prawn pathia was just amazing, will return.

Use this takeaway regularly and the food is always very good, delivered in good time and hot. The one criticism would be that, on 2 occasions, there was an item missing from the order, but the staff dealt with this without any issues.

Use to love this place but I do think this places food standards have dropped. Its lukewarm at best, the sauce is usually pretty runny whether that be curry or poppadoms dips. The lamb has been tough as old boots 2 or 3 times in a row now. I've rung to complain thinking it be better for them leaving a bad review, only to be fobbed off by them offering me a free curry that I guarantee won't be remembered a month or so on. Nah never again sadly. I'd rather spend double going into Southampton with taxis etc than waste my money here.

Always order from here, always on time if not early. Food is good and at reasonable price. Highly recommend!

On Sunday 17 July Food was delicious the delivery was on time, but delivered by motorbikes is not ideal the order arrived crushed dripping out of the bag, rang them so they sent out another order by motorbike and again crushed and unedible, so went and collected in a car and the food was fine and edible. Try not to use motorbike deliveries then you won't waste £60 worth of food

Just had an amazing takeaway delivered, my chicken tikka Balti madras hot was so tasty, piping hot & lots of chicken! My partner loved his Lamb Balti too. We will be ordering again.

Always good with complementary poppadoms and Indian salad. Recommended.

Ordered at 8 online. Only after paid did i realise delivery was 9.34 latest. Called 3 times to try and cancel ( no answer ). Delivered at 9.40. Tbf was tasty but unfortunately only luke warm. In future if we use again it will be collection only.

We’ve used this take-away for a long time now and always pleased with the food and service. However recently, the popadoms have been rank! Taste like the oil needs changing. We did mention it the last twice ,that we’ve ordered but no improvement. We now are going to try somewhere else.

Absolutely gorgeous!! Just had chicken korma, chicken madras, bharjis, naan etc and it was quite possibly the best Indian take away we've ever had!! Tasted fab, meat fell apart, gorgeous sauces, bharjis not greasy, very very impressed, excellent price too. Ate the lot and would not hesitate to recommend. Thank you!!

I ordered my meal at 17.45 but didn't arrive until 19.55 I was hoping it would be worth the wait but disappointed it was luke warm even the extras i ordered samosa and onion bhaji were cold I gave 2 stars and not one because i was starving and it was eatable but definitely won't order from here again and would not recommend also thought the rogan josh was supposed to be fairly hot in spice but was only mild very dissatisfied.

Awful curry ,everything tasted far to sweet

Probably the worst Indian I’ve ever had. After waiting over an hour and a half for it as well. Food so soggy I had to drain water off my plate.

Always have lovely food from this place. I've read the negative reviews and I'm lucky to always have good service and hot tasty food. We've used a fair few restaurants but this, we've found, is one of the better ones.

The food took 2.5 hours to be delivered. Over an hour later than they quoted. Obviously to was freezing. The only saving grace was it was delicious once reheated.

Chicken was raw have photos to prove this. Waste of £25 had to cook something after. Don’t usually complain but I would consider this a safety hazard.

Get blacklisted for moaning at driver for being late and got accused of short changing him utter lies, so be aware don't complain about anything.

Lovely food, quick delivery and great service

Popadoms were bendy and stale. No crunch to them. Onion salad in a bag not a pot and literally just chopped onion, no herbs or anything. onion Bhaji very dry and cold. First and last time using this place

First time ordering from here, I've got to be honest, the Balti was REALLY salty and the rice was super greasey. The better half enjoyed her Madras mind. The rest of a food was fair.

Honestly one of the worst Indian takeaways I have ever had (& I've had a lot). The Madras was bland, the korma was really sweet & 90% sauce with barely any veg and the naan was rubbery. Go to Imli's in Shirley

It's a decent curry house that never disappoints. It's one of the best curry takeaway places I've been too.
