The worst decision I’ve ever made was going into this restaurant . Should have know as was empty but we thought (give it a go) well we waited and waited for our starters( 45-50 minutes ) still being the only two people in there we thought must be very fresh as taking a while . Well we thought wrong, salad on starter looked like last weeks and the meat was so over seasoned it was like they we’re trying to disguise it , also the dips for our poppadoms were dried out and nasty looking . Needless to say we didn’t wait for the mains ( could have been there all night !) Don’t be fooled by the nice decor or low lighting this is not worth your time or your money .

It all started on a Saturday when we arrived we was seated at a table with dirty tablecloths, no napkins, no cutlery then when given then was just plonked on the table and not placed nicely next to us. We also ordered a rose spritz and I was told that the rose wine was sold by the bottle 🍾and we could have white wine as that comes by the glass 🍷 once I receive my white wine the man then came over and said that he has found a drop of rose and do I want it so I said no as if it was sold by the bottle and how comes he has some left 🤔 The woman on the next table ordered the lamb curry she cut into it and she said the smell that come off of it was like it was off and rotten 🤢🤮🥴 the men kept telling her that she didn’t like the sauce that was on it and was not tacking any notice of what she was saying After a long time our main meal arrived with cold spicy chips that felt they was microwave so we decided that between the woman having gone off lamb and us having cold chips we didn’t was to eat out mains so we asked nicely if we could have out food taken away and we would pay for out drinks and popadom starter and we would like to go 🤢❌ The man then refuse to give us the bill as he wanted us to play the full amount and as my mother was talking calmly to him he turned around put has back to my mum and stared talking to another member of staff We finally payed for the drinks and starters and left. I decided to take the woman’s number in the next table just in case any of us got ill we could back each other up. And then when I got home the lady texted me and said that he was talking about us to them saying that we just wanted a free meal So I would say the curry garden is : Unprofessional and unclean and that we would not go back ❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌❌

We always used Curry Garden when we lived in collier Row and it was excellent. We went back for old times sake, what a mistake. 8.00pm on a Friday night and the restaurant was empty, we shouldn't have stayed. No one else came in, the phone didn't even ring for a takeaway. Took forever for drinks to come, then more than forever for food. In the end we paid for drinks and left. What a disappointment, I assume it's been sold on and the people of Collier Row know to avoid.

Decided to go back to this restaurant as not been for a while and it was a family birthday. I used to come here with a lot of the girls from work and it was always really lovely, sauces etc were free, the food was hot and very tasty. Unfortunately this is not the case now since it has been under new management. The first really poor thing is that they no longer take card payments, only cash! This is a real pain as then you have to wander around looking for a cash point assuming that it works. We were literally the only ones in there. We all ordered our starters and asked for poppadoms which have now gone up to ridiculous 65p each!, They also charge 65p per pot of dips. The Mango is literally like sauce, not nice at all. The poppadoms were dripping in oil. Bearing in mind we were the only ones in here we still had to wait nearly half an hour for our starters. When they did arrive they were very very mediocre and cold! The chicken smelt like it had gone off and because of this I left mine. The meat was tough and tasteless. When the mains arrived they were literally half the portion size of when they were under the previous management. Personally I doubt we will go back, the place is dead and there is no personal touch like there was before. You had around 3 to 4 waiters smartly dressed and they were very attentive, now there is literally one waiter who doesn't interact at all with the customers. It seems to me that this place is now lacking in everything, atmosphere and every single item is charged meaning that an £11.95 meal then turns into twice that because of the extras that they charge you for. A small bottle of coke is £2.95 which is extortionate, conveniently they don't offer pump Pepsi. The range of beers is minimal. It seems to me that this place is barely trading and will no doubt close down soon.

This restaurant cannot handle customer needs. Me and my husband live close by but decided to order for delivery I was ill. We ordered through just eat app and it said the food will be there in 45 min- 1 hour. We called them after an hour and a half, they said it was on its way, bit odd considering we live 5 mins away. It came after 1 hour and 45 mins.. and had a item missing and cold. When we noticed we tried to flag the driver down, he looked at us and drive off. So we called the restaurant to inform them of the missing item and how cold it was. They said they will deliver it as soon as they could. We demanded it be delivered right away considering they made us wait 45 mins extra and we could not eat without the missing item. They said they will deliver it...its been 3 days now and we are still waiting...never ordering from them again they don't deserve our money or custom

Please do not order from this restaurant. We are loyal customers for a few years so keep going back. Tonight we thought we'd have a take away such a bad idea as it had been in the past. Half our order was missing that we'd paid for, call back and they put the phone down on me. Continue to phone with no answer eventually they answer and was told they would bring missing item's but half hour later didn't turn up continue to phone restaurant but no reply for the next hour. We had 4 items missing plus wrong items and stale popadoms will be visiting restaurant for a refund hopefully. Would not recommended unless you want to waste you're money

Rather than sitting at home watching the football or going to the pub I grabbed my iPad and went for a curry here. Very welcoming and polite, friendly staff was seated right by the window, wasn’t impressed when I felt something on my arm and did a ninja move to swipe the cobweb from the cupboard next to me across to the table. ) only real downside to my visit) I ordered a drink and looked through the menu and having explained that I have a bit allergy was told the ‘Create your own’ Masala Curry was only item that contained nuts... Tava Roll as a starter - An Indian street food specially spiced lamb wrapped in a roti, came with a salad. however, it’s preprepared and tasted dried out so I suspect was left in a cool fridge uncovered...finished that then ordered my main course. Acharie as my main - Chicken cooked with chopped onions, lemon juice coconut, mint yoghurt and honey... And that was all with the obligatory Cobra lathers throughout the evening. Pleasant atmosphere and evening.

I visited with my wife and son for an early evening meal to compare the restaurant against the nearby "Raj of India" where we had eaten recently. They both advertise 5 course banquets which is a reasonably cheap way of getting a good meal with your choice of dishes. I've visited a lot of different Indian restaurants around the country offering this type of deal but unfortunately the Curry Garden version is totally different to all the others I have been to so be aware before you visit. We were kindly welcomed and shown to a table and told that poppadoms weren't part of the 5 course banquet!!! (I should have asked more then but didn't), so we ordered some along with drinks. We then started to look at the menu and questioned what we got for the 5 courses. A starter, main, side, rice and a tea/coffee was the reply. We asked if we could have something else instead of the tea/coffee but was told no we couldn't. The King Prawn dishes had a surcharge of £3.00 which is more than I have seen before. We then looked further into the menu to select our meals. My wife doesn't normally have a side dish and we asked to swap the side dish for a naan bread to go with the rice. We were told we couldn't change any of the courses on the menu because it was a good deal as it was. I told the server that if that was the case we would finish the poppadoms and drinks and leave. Whilst we were still eating the poppadoms the bill was handed to us and the attitude changed. We finished quickly and left and walked a few doors up to the "Raj of India" where we had a lovely 5 course banquet (see other review). I've never known an Indian restaurant as unhelpful and unwilling to change as this one was, I won't be visiting again. Please ask before you order anything to avoid disappointment.

Only 4 tables in the restaurant so absolutely no excuse for the delays. No apology. No good will gesture with regards to the bill. Will be completely avoiding from now on and telling friends to do the same.

Each week they say take away will be ready in 15-20 mind but we always have to wait 40 so this time I asked for them to call when it was ready, they did when I got there they said it was being bagged up 15mins later I asked for a refund the food then came out but I told them I wanted my money back and not the food. So it was off to Manzil I went and will go from now on.

Went on a Monday and found we were the only customers. The chef and waiter greeted us with big smiles which was a good start. Told him we had a Wowcher, No problem. Got our drinks and the waiter gave us five mins to order our starters. When we got that out of the way he gave us another five to sod around choosing mains. Got to say that some of the items on the menu I,d never heard of before(will get back to that later). The starters came up a little on the small side but were quite nice. The mains(one Passanda, one Korai and one Tikka Mossala were reasonable sized but all three were very different from what I had ever had before!!! They just weren,t what we were used to. They were very nice, and I think reading between the lines and the strange items on the menu led me to conclude that Chef might not be your average East End/Essex Indian restaurant chef. Possible he is from some obscure part of the Asian Subcontinent. Plus points...... good flavoured mains, nice rice and sides. Friendly geezers. Minus points.....small starters, Peshwari nans came up plain. No draft beers(despite at least two pumps at the bar). That's why it,s only three stars. Just remembered none of the phone numbers work so had to take a chance they were open
