Fantastic Sunday lunch for £12 each. Food was very tasty with a great selection of veg, including roast potatoes, carrots and parsnips, green beans and tender stem broccoli, and cauliflower cheese. Massive Yorkshire too! Amber was behind the busy bar working so hard, an extremely friendly and professional member of staff, a real credit to the pub. Will definitely return next time we visit the New Forest.

Honestly will not be returning, was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a local pub. The pints were poured terribly I also saw roughly 3 rats run straight from next to the kitchen then down the side of the building, the staff there are not inviting at all didn’t make me feel welcome at all. I definitely do NOT recommend, go to the ship next door it’s much nicer

Slipped in for a pint after a dog walk. Football was on about six screens in the pub - that's fine. Beer was just what was required. KIds playing pool in main body of the pub were a bit sweary, but I can cope with that (as long as they're not swearing at me). Fitted the bill just fine for a short, sharp eye-brightener. Thanks

Recieved a free lesson in how not to customer service.... No welcome No acknowledgement of our existence whilst we were waiting at the bar No notification of a prolonged wait due to a barrel needing to be changed for the previous customer No niceties No respect for the 'first come first served' system employed countrywide by pubs (to the best of my knowledge) - seems if you're a local, you will get served first (big respect to the customer involved here, they deferred their advantage, thanks) No chance I'm ever going here again No way I'll get that hour spent here back Would suggest you go to The Ship, they seem to actually like customers coming in.

Although very friendly staff. A very long wait for food. Arrived, some food over cooked. My curry had a long hair in, which I almost swallowed!. On telling waitress, who was very apologetic, nothing was resolved! Was not a nice experience!!

Sating at Sandyball and wanted to pop into town to catch some of the boxing day football. After much confusion about changing the games to the game we wanted, we settled down with some nice cold beer and enjoyed the atmosphere. Gutted it was closing early as we would have been happy to stay and catch another game.

We ordered Roast Turkey for lunch. I thought 'how lovely'...they have added Gammon meat also...until my friends commented there was no gammon and this was raw Turkey!! I'm not sure the waiter realised how serious this was...and we never saw the chef to explain. We did however receive refunds x 2 for the Turkey but that is not the point! I don't cook much but even I could do Turkey and I pretty much know that it is white when cooked...not red!! It was really hard to cut because it was raw, despite me having eaten some and not realising until my friends mentioned! The service was not great despite the place not being full and I would definitely not go there again. Sorry Crown Inn...really bad service and food hence the 1 star ( which is generous)

Stopped off for a bite to eat and the woman behind the bar was very friendly and took orders for two ciabatta sandwiches. There was another couple there but apart from that no one. Took half an hour to bring out a roast beef ciabatta and was told that the other was just coming. This was another 10 minutes and was just a cheese and ham sandwich. The hard cooking cheese that was grated and falling out. The bread seemed to be a standard CO OP loaf. When I pointed out this wasn’t what I ordered the person just stared at the menu board for answers. Then said they would sort out a refund. No sorry. No can I change that, although I don’t have time to wait again. Won’t be going back here.

When sourcing a place we stated breakfast and parking when we arrived to be told no parking had to use public carpark so had to be out of bed before 8am to put a paid ticket in the car, we then get told there was no breakfast. The room was small covered in cobwebs, sheets smelt dusty, no hot water in sink, the mattress was smaller than the bed frame so pillows fell through and very uncovered, the stairs to room was like a spiral definitely not good for people with leg problems as quite dangerous we definitely won't book again

We found this restaurant on the off chance and were so pleased that we did! The pub is lovely and we had a small room to ourselves (as it was only 6pm) as it was not that busy yet. We shared the platter starter which was delicious and plentiful for four. All the main courses were beautifully presented, well cooked and delicious. I had homemade chicken kiev with a mushroom sauce and chips and it was really lovely. Only minor negative was that the salad was simply a few lettuce leaves and some tomato, cucumber etc would have enhanced it. Also a dressing had already been put on the lettuce leaves so I had to leave them as I did not like the dressing. My son said the steak and accompaniments were delicious and my husband enjoyed his belly pork and mash. Excellent food for a reasonable price and friendly, helpful staff.

We found a table in the bar with a good view of the screen and ordered our meals. The meals arrived promptly and looked really appetising, but we were really disappointed with the steaks. I couldn’t even cut mine as it was so tough. The cheerful young lady who served us walked by and asked if we were enjoying our meals and we said we were struggling with the steaks, mine in particular. She apologised profusely that we’d not had steaks to the standard they would like and immediately told us that fresh steaks would be cooked for us. We declined, as we fully understood that the staff/chef weren’t to blame, it was just bad luck we had one particularly poor steak. A few minutes later we were offered free desserts and coffee, which they really didn’t have to do. We were really impressed with how the problem had been dealt with and we had a totally enjoyable evening there. Nice friendly, efficient staff and a lovely atmosphere in the place. Would definitely recommend.

After recently having had some good meals here at The Crown we decided to book a table for Saturday lunch with a group of friends. We were not disappointed. Homemade Chicken Kiev was a firm favourite with us and the mixed grills were well executed although the steak was a little tough. Service was attentive and nothing too much trouble. Reasonably priced. Well kept beers. Good pub food served well, would recommend a visit.

Ate and the Crown Inn on Friday night. Sat in the bar area as the restaurant section was full. A good choice on the menu, with large portions and reasonable value. Staff were excellent particularly one lady who seemed to be serving all the tables single handed. Only lost a star as the food was pretty slow, but that was due to a large influx of customers in a short period of time. Above mentioned barmaid/waitress was very apologetic and accommodating.

We headed here recently for dinner. The pub was busy (which is a good sign) and the restaurant fully booked so we agreed to eat in the bar area which was not a problem (apart from the swearing from a couple of blokes next to us, but that isn't the pubs fault!) and ordered a starter to share and a main each. The starter was good and went down well and the mains average (mushroom sauce with my Chicken Kiev wasn't hot, and there wasn't a lot of garlic in the Kiev, so it was pretty much just a Kiev!) still, it filled a hole and the pub had a nice atmosphere so can't really complain :)

Abbiamo cenato una sola volta al Crown Inn e ci siamo trovati bene. Il personale era cortese, il tempo di attesa contenuto ed il prezzo pagato pure. Si trova lungo la via principale dell villaggio, al limitare della bellissima New Forset!

Visited the Sail inn with my uncle who lives in Lymington. Previous experience at the pub had been very good however this visit has left a very poor taste in the mouth. While the fish and chips were adequate the use of some sort of paper to "soak up the oil" from the food was less than appetizing for my uncle who is elderly. While the stated serving hours were 12 to 3pm when I requested dessert and coffees we were told the kitchen was closed as the chef "had to be somewhere" Given the choice of quality establishments in Lymington we obviously regretted choosing The Sail Inn and won't be doing so in the future - the fact there was no warning that the kitchen was closing early is annoying however the actual decision to shut early on a Friday lunchtime in a competive marketplace is beyond me.
