Keep seeing The Crown online and the food looks lovely. Finally we visited on an impromptu date night mid week. We opted out of a starter but I have the Beef and Ale pie which was fabulous! loads of greens, tasty pie and gravy, smooth mash and it tasted wonderful. My Husband had the Mushroom Pasta and also wasn't disappointed.# Unfortunately we were too full for desert but happy to say my meal came with a free glass of wine!! WIN WIN ! Great food, lovely atmosphere and excellent service! Look forward to visiting again soon.

Well, very disappointing, very expensive for very little food, tasted okay, nothing special but noticeably small portions for premium pricing. Four of us decided to have dinner, early evening on a Saturday, as a rare treat, two of us had haddock, I doubt you would be allowed to catch haddock that small, one third of it was just batter, cost £16? The waiter could or should wear a mask. One of party had a pizza, nice thin crust, looked lovely when it arrived but that was the only attributes it had, tasteless mush, how the cook managed to extract all the flavour is a feat in itself. Finally the award winning pie, again nothing special was the verdict just a chicken pie with mash, no vegetables, nothing. £80 later left feeling hungry and very disappointed. Don’t think we will bother again and my advice is, neither should you.

Lovely decor. Friendly staff and locals. Unfortunately we were in a rush so could only stay for a main course but our food and drinks came quickly. I had the burger and my wife had the roast cod loin, both of which were really tasty and the portions were a good size. We also had the honey glazed chorizo on the side. We will definitely be going back as it is excellent value for money.

Fabulous Sunday lunch for Mother’s Day. The Crown never disappoints. Although fully booked for Mother’s Day we were shown to our table and served with our drinks. Staff very polite and attentive, nothing was too much trouble for them. Food was excellent as always, serving beautifully cooked local produce. The atmosphere was lovely with music appropriate not too loud so you could have good conversation with your dinner guests. Definitely recommend The Crown Inn, Yoxall Sue and John

Went for a meal with friends to what was advertised as a Burns Night celebration. Have to say I was totally disappointed. The food was bland and I think over priced for what it was. £18 for a haggis potato cake with hardly a trace of haggis and absolutely no flavour, served with a shaving of leek and carrot. No atmosphere at all , nothing to make it have a Scottish feeling. Played Mull of Kintyre followed by ABBA and Frank Sinatra. I was really looking forward to a meal here after being told by friends about a nice meal they had recently but personally I would not rush to go back. Staff were friendly but service was slow and it wasn’t that busy. Left feeling very flat.

What a fabulous place! The staff are all attentive without being overbearing, kind, courteous and clearly love their job. The food was out of this world. This is our second visit but the first time we took our daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren (age 4 and 7). The children’s meals were equally tasty and duly polished off by hungry tummies! They also appreciated the colouring books and crayons. A final note to praise the cleanliness of the washroom facilities. Always a bonus 😀

Nice clean pub, nice bar staff but was deserted when we visited on a Friday lunchtime. We ordered Welsh Rarebit with red onion chutney which I thought would be served in a little pot on the side but in actual fact the chutney was spread thickly on the ciabata with a small amount of rarebit mix on top. Not good unless you happen to like chutney on toast and not much rarebit, disappointing.

Following great reviews on social media and photos of lovely cocktails, we travelled to Yoxall for Sunday lunch and a social afternoon with cocktails. Food was good and service was good, hence the two stars. But no cocktails on Sundays apart from a few gin based spritzers!! Only coffee available was instant. So expectations of a relaxed and social afternoon totally dashed. If you want a quick lunch and don’t have to travel far then OK but no more.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch at The Crown Inn at Yoxall. Callum had prepared one of the best roast pork lunches I have had in a long time. I have wanted to visit for awhile due to the good reviews. Pub has been very nicely refurbished and staff were friendly and attentive however the food did not meet our expectations. The Albondigas starter was good. However the sharing Camembert starter was lukewarm and it was obvious that a ripe one hadn’t been used as it was not melted and oozing. We did feed back our disappointment. On to mains. One of the party had salmon which was lovely. The venison pies were ok and the king prawn linguini was lukewarm. We did again mention our disappointment to staff as I think it’s important for the kitchen to have honest feedback. It was offered to replace the pasta but that would have meant eating after the others and it wasn’t as tasty as hoped so we did not take them up on offer. It did seem quiet for a Saturday evening. Wish we’d gone for Sunday lunch as this is where they seem to get their good reviews. Would we return? I don’t think so but I hope we just hit them on a bad day.

Our group included 3 vegetarians, a vegan and a toddler and we were all well catered for and made to feel welcome. The meat eaters enjoyed Sunday roast dinners while the veggies and vegan enjoyed a wonderful sweet potato and chick pea curry which was delicious, and the baby enjoyed her fish bites and juice. The picky one in the group chose to have cheesy chips and was very impressed (which is amazing as she is a cheesy chip connoisseur ) Finally, the winter slice we had after was to die for!!! I went here for lunch this week with 3 friends, have been before. This time our meal was served on plastic trays, similar to the trays used in primary schools. These trays had plastic sections in too. We won’t be going again. Have met others who have said the same,

The restaurant was nice and clean. The menu was extensive and reasonably priced. The service was excellent which after a long day out was welcoming. Highly recommended will definitely eat there again.

Just popped in for a spot of lunch in the beer garden, had the filled rolls which came with a side of chips, they were delicious. Would definitely return and try their main menu with the rest of the family. The inside of the pub was very inviting and toilets immaculately clean. The service with a smile was fabulous too.

We visited the crown today following reading reviews, I called about 30 minutes prior to being there to ensure they had a table, after a few minutes on the phone and a few background Conversations it was confirmed that they could accommodate us. When arriving we walked into the pub and into a little backroom where we asked the bar staff as to where we should be seated she said you can sit anywhere, yet there were quite a few tables available following our recent conversation on the phone. We went for the Sunday lunch sharing menu, my husband had the leak and potato soup and I had the red pepper and arancini balls starter, Both were fantastic starters but they took 50 minutes to arrive from ordering. Maincourse was lovely we had a mini beef roast, half chicken x2, sausages and gammon with a scattering of potatoes, carrots, peas and carrots, We also had honey roast parsnips which were I have to say a little hard and could’ve been cooked a little better and more very cheap potatoes could have been available. All in all it was an alternative Sunday lunch, and was in the most very good but it did take an 1 hour and 25 minutes for the main course to arrive and there were only three tables to accommodate. Cannot fault the staff or quality of food just the length of service and I love parsnips so could’ve been cooked a little longer to make them soft and more potatoes.

Disappointed. Food very salty. Good garlic bread but spaghetti gloopy. All had heartburn after meal. Drinks pricey... Peroni 4.95; Pedigree 3.50; Pepsi’s 1.90; merlot 18.65 - dash of lemonade 50p! Cold night and cold in the restaurant. Could have lit the fire! Sorry, but not a good Italian night! Expensive and not worth the money!

Decided to stop off at this little pub for a spot of lunch in the 'snug/bar area' before our planned spa retreat. What a treat!! Absolutely gorgeous place that oozes charm with such a warm and friendly atmosphere and welcome. Meals were so delicious and the cocktails were amazing too. If you are in the area or fancy a drive to a beautiful location with plenty of stunning walking spots then give this place a try. You definitely won't be dissapointed 😊

Visited here after a while. I was shocked. The owner was a lady who I had paid for dog walking whilst lockdown was happening, even worse she had been claiming furlough and leaving her cafe closed and getting paid for dog walking. I don't think this is very ethical. Thankfully I wasn't reconised however service was slow and the menu full of very unhealthy things and the tables far too close together for COVID. Will not return.

Myself and my family were staying 5 miles away at hanbury barns for my nephews wedding. We needed somewhere for breakfast and the Hideaway fitted the bill. Nice food, efficient service. Thank you
