Stood at the bar for 15 minutes. Staff knew who was next but used the age old tactic of asking who was next. Obviously the nearest person obliged. Two inept members of staff for a pub this size, that amazingly still has custom is inadequate. Went somewhere better....... weren't difficult really.

The new menu had us really excited, but such a disappointment.Took over an hour for food to arrive, and we had to sit down and wait for 10mins while our cocktails were made. Appeared to be only two staff working, and after one told us our food order had only just gone up to the kitchen (after nearly an hour of waiting), they left and one guy was left on his own. When we were in there, there were only two other couples eating.Food was ok when it did arrive but nothing special. Cocktail was good when it did arrive. Overall I think it must be poorly managed and I wouldn't attempt to go back, especially when it's busy.

After reading the reviews we were sceptical about this place. For a weekend away we had a drink in every pub in Bridgnorth and The Crown was last on our list. We ended up staying most of the night as there was a live 3 price band playing who were excellent . (Dont know the bands name) The beer was very good and served with a smile from keen bar staff. A very good night was had by us and everyone else in the pub seemed to enjoy the night also.

Out and about car hunting with son no 4 so just looking for a light-bite to cheer us up. There is Pay & Display car parking to the rear and we entered through the nice beer garden which has plenty of seating. It is a huge place with nice décor. 2 of us ordered from the 2 for £7 menu (or £3.99 each). There is a good choice of mains and 3 choices of starters/desserts which can be added for £1 each. Just don't get too excited that you'll be 'stuffed' after. Son #4's face was a picture when his sausage and mash arrived on a kids plate with one ice-cream sized scoop of mash! My fish was just slightly larger than a fish finger but what else can you expect for £3.50? We found it quite amusing really. We had no problem with the service, it was quiet so that may have helped. The toilets are upstairs. Tip: Add the starter and dessert if you are hungry, or order from the 'proper' menu.

If you could give zero stars, I would. We waited 1 hour 15 minutes for our meals that came out ten minutes apart. Every single meal was wrong, the food was overlooked and cold. The manager was unhelpful, rude and offensive. He offered no explanation, refund or to replace our incorrect order. Absolutely disgusted.

A large split level pub. Which was formerly Crown & Raven pubs. Both the men’s & ladies toilets are upstairs.7 ladies toilet, with nice animal pictures painted doors. At least 3 games machines in the pub.Various TV’s dotted around the pub.Lots of partitioned areas to sit down, odd leather seats about.Beer garden with 10 tables & flashy lights & artificial grass area with 5 tables. Car park is £1 per hour.New menu introduced 14 Sept 16.Garlic bread is awful, came out looking liked pie dough, very odd & unappealing.Food came minus condiments, when asked for pepper was brought a big bottle from the kitchen not in little pots like you expect. The background music sends you insane; it basically got louder & worsened as the night went on. It was pointless having the TV on has you couldn’t concentrate on anything you tried to watch.Music badly needs changing to be more relaxing & at a lower volume. How staff cope with that day after day is beyond me.There is a meeting room upstairs.A disabled toilet is downstairs.A pub I wouldn’t re-visit in a hurry.

I was there a few weeks ago, where my friends had ordered food. They had ordered only side dishes to eat whilst watching the football. When they purchased the food they were told it was only a 20 minute wait, after 40 minutes of waiting they were told it would be another hour. After waiting for an hour and a half they then told them that the food they had ordered wasn't available. It was obvious that they hadn't even looked at what we ordered until an hour after which is shocking! I had ordered a glass of prosecco which came completely flat. The whole place is a joke and I am shocked that they are still running. The owner has really driven the place into the ground which is ashame as it used to be a great place to go to.

Excellent location and extremely old pub full of character and fine selection of beers.Only down side is the food service. Waiting time extreamly long and food can be below what it can be but this is no fault of the staff as the problem is that they are 'UNDER STAFFED'.Bar staff are running around doing both bar, food, and cooking. I actually seen people walk away because the wait for drink alone as the staff were running around doing foodPotential is 5*, 4* because location, character of pub, drinks available and price is competitive.

Went in on spec knowing nothing about it. Lunchtime menu served until 5pm but we discovered cheap prices meant small portions. Items we chose from lunch menu were not available from main menu. Table and floor were dirty but when we pointed it out the young man was quick to clean the table and tried to improve the lighting as we were struggling to read menu. Food was ok but some items were barely warm whilst others were hot! Decided not to stay for pudding. Cheap and fairly cheerful. The tv was loud but we sat well away. Toilets were not great and could have done with checking more regularly- a broken lock amongst the usual problems. The young server was cheerful and helpful, an asset!

My partner and I visited the Crown for a meal on a weekend visit to Bridgenorth. The pub was clean, nice decor and bustling, but by no means rammed. However, the queue at the bar was extensive, clearly people had been waiting for a long time before us. When we ordered food, I was served by a lad who CLEARLY was on his first day, had no idea how to work the tills, or card machine, and when I asked the simple question did they sell crisps he replied with a lacklustre 'I don't think so?' With no effort to find out if any were available! Ordered a coffee which took almost half an hour to arrive and was given no apology for our wait. But, in all fairness to them the food when it arrived was lovely, looked really appealing, well cooked, would recommend the burgers and fish and chips! Would 100% return for the food and atmosphere, but some of the staff seriously need replacing.

As a sports viewing pub, not too bad. as to the large red sugary wine dreadful. Undrinkable. Management declined to taste 'Can't drink on duty' [fair enough]. No replacement offer, and deffo no cash return. an hour later, after the match, there was a reluctant offer that we could sample taste from the two reds on offer. Politely [I hope] declined. And the bar was badly understaffed at a quiet time of day.

We were looking for a nice pub in Bridgnorth for a decent lunch, as my wife's employers had offered to pick up the tab for her recent long hours. With that in mind, we wanted somewhere pleasant and ventured into the Crown, which is conveniently situated on the High Street.Like most pubs in Bridgnorth, it is a lot larger inside than its looks from the outside and is full of character. It is a light airy environment in there and there is lots of space between tables, so you don't feel hemmed in.The food is very reasonably priced and there is a good selection to suit most tastes, including vegetarian. Contrary to other reviews, we found the staff extremely friendly and helpful, with nothing too much trouble for them. The food itself was well cooked, well presented and with generous portions, so zero complaints there either.Great fayre at reasonable prices, friendly staff and a pleasant clean environment certainly ticked all the boxes for us. The real 'acid test' of a food review is "would we go back there again?" The answer to that is a very big yes.. :-)

Attended the pub for a spot of lunch and ordered three meals and drinks coming in about £27, when ordering the meals I confirmed twice with Alan that we wanted the sweet potato fries upgrade with both meals. When the meals came out only one had the sweet potato fries so I spoke to the waiter who took the meal after I explained we'd clarified with Alan about the fries. Waiter returned and told us the order didn't have the upgrade and we'd have to pay the extra 75p.Honestly I didn't care about the money but despite their mistake it seems like they do and asked if we wanted the upgrade. Wow.Two of the three finished the meal and despite the third still eating the waiter (nice guy to be fair) came and started clearing our table of plates. They weren't busy but felt strongly like they wanted the table.Pettiness over 75p fries and the feeling they wanted us to leave ruined the meal. The only positive was a lovely staff lady who brought out a bowl of water for our hot pet dog. Thank youAs I said, disappointed verging on annoyed

Arrived at the pub 12.30 not many people in who were ordering food, then told 40min wait on food, which we said was fine. 1hour and a half later, 4 trips to the staff asking for an update to be told your food is 10mins, its being plated and still waiting. On arrival of half of food order chips were warm and looked over cooked, straggly bits of bacon and under cooked hash browns. Back to the counter to ask where steak and gammon were to be told not sure, another 20min wait and again inedible. Staff seemed embarassed by what was served and i had to ask for a refund for the poor service. Big changes needed before we head back there, completely disapppointed as used to be regulars when previous owners were in post. One positive was the decor as it has been updated in parts and looks very modern and clean.

First time in since the refurb. Place looks nice, but the staff (one guy in particular) are not very efficient or capable. There was a long wait at the bar and we ordered our food and our server then passed us to someone else (guy i mentioned above) to complete order as she had to do something. A few minutes later he comes over to confirm something on the order (no salad on one). We were then given a box with sauces etc but only one set of cutlery. He then brings us the food 10 minutes later..both with salad. He didn't seem to bothered when we mentioned it and nearly took wrong one back. He did fix it albeit just scraping stuff off. The food wasn't worth the money either. 3 mini burgers with different toppings with fries for £8.99. The food arrived in these cheap looking baskets. Overall, the place looks better and it does now have a wider selection of ales but the service and food let it down.

I went into the Crown recently for a bite of lunch. The first thing that struck me was the new decor, and with it new bar areas, all of which were staffed. This means you can get a coffee or lunch, or a drink served really quickly. Then I found there was a new exciting menu, with plenty of options for different diets. We are a family that are difficult to cater for, as I only eat veg and fish, where as the rest of the family love their burgers and meat. I am happy to say there was something to suit everyone. The staff were really helpful discussing some of the menu choices, and service was really quick and polite. I have never been made to feel more welcome. After I noticed the new champagne bar, my husband and I decided to come back for an evening out. What a brilliant evening we had. The new manager AM and all her staff made sure we had a fabulous time. We even tried some of the cocktails, which were reasonably priced. I will definitely be visiting again.

We visited Bridgnorth last Saturday 23.07.16 a lovely place and decided to eat at the Crown Inn. If I have any advice for this public house it would be to make sure when serving food that the Knives and forks etc where brought to the table before the food as we had to ask numerous times for these once our meal had come, hence it was cold when eventually one of our party got up and fetched it instead of waiting for the young lad to bring them. On arrival there appeared to be less than half a pub full of visitors, many of whom were already eating so I was bemused when staff informed me that there would be a 45 minute wait for food. I'd supplied my table number (which was on the corner if the table) but was told the number would be on the menu holder. There was no menu holder, I'd already had to source menus from other tables. Despite this I was told I'd need to go and find the number on the non existent menu holder. I explained a second time that the number was on the table and was finally able to order. I asked if I could have two portions of veg with the kids meal and was told I'd be charged- with a 45 minute wait and a hungry 5 year old in tow I thought this unreasonable as the kids portions are small enough to allow a little extra given the cost. Besides, as I've worked most of my adult life in catering serving the public I'd have been more than happy to accommodate. Thankfully, the shift manager came to assist and offered to help me carry our drinks back to the table. She obviously had far better people skills and seemed to know what she was doing, let's hope she continues to bring a positive influence as the waiting staff also left a lot to be desired. Tables need to be cleared promptly and condiment trays ought to be checked to ensure they have all the things required before they are left with customers.

I don't think I have ever been to a pub that employees staff like this one !Very rude , messy and stinking attitudes . Waited over 1hour for food even though there was only one other family eating at the time , when I asked the waitress on two occasions she just replied "there's a wait " with a attitude and shrugged her shoulders and walked off . When I finally went to the till to ask for a refund I got a half hearted "sorry" , I happen to get a look in the kitchen as he was sorting out my refund from the bar area and my god am I glad that food never arrived the level of cleanliness was stomach turning . Messaged there Facebook page later that day with a hope that maybe the owner or higher management would get back in touch after such a bad experience , the messages where read but never replied to .

3 of us waited an hour and a half for wraps. Staff not bothered. Didn't even get a sorry for your delay. Whilst we were there one family got up and walked out as they were sick of waiting and another couple sent all their food back and left. Food is horrible. Tasteless and greasy. The place is in a good spot but the inside is vile. We were sat under a rotting ceiling. Walls are filthy. Toilets horrible. Don't go here.

Went to the Crown whilst on a weekend away with my wife. The pub is pleasant enough and the menu is good if you want a reasonably priced meal. The food is typical pub food and as will the majority of pubs who do food, it is frozen and cooked to order. The Crown has a large interior and can cater for many, however, it is not A La Carte but is good for a cheap filler and a couple of pints

After a horrid walk around the centre of town with the weather. We opted to dive in to a local pub on the high street. We get to the bar and its quiet busy but there was only one person serving. So we waited, we were told that there might be a delay on the food of up to 30 mins. But we still proceeded to order. The food arrived in 11 mins. I timed it on my phone. The food was tasty and hot and exactly what I paid for. The staff seemed understaffed but friendly. The only downfall is the pub looks tired.

The Crown Inn is situated in the lovely town of Bridgenorth and looks very nice and inviting from the outside. Once inside the pub is large and has some lovely character features. I've visited this pub three times recently and every time the tables have been dirty and sticky, the carpets clearly haven't been hoovered in some time and the whole place is dirty and very dusty. The toilets are situated upstairs and could do with a dam good clean as they were in a dirty state. Every time I have visited this pub It's not been very busy but you have to wait in a quee to be served and they are always under staffed when you ask why the delay to order a drink! I was told when I ordered food that it would be 30 minutes, after 40 minutes the food hadn't arrived so I queed at the bar and asked what the delay was only to be told that they are very busy (they weren't) and the food would be another 40 minutes!! I asked for a refund and to cancel my order and had to wait a further 10 minutes only for a Manager to ask what was wrong with the food to which I replied 'I don't know, It never came after 40 minutes and I've now been told it will be another 40 minutes' I was given a full refund for the food order. A couple sitting next to be had complained about the taste of a hot chocolate drink and also had a refund for food that didn't turn up. They apparently had been waiting over 1 hour for two mains!! This happened the last time I visited but the same problems when ordering food and the huge wait was present on bothy previous visits. It's a shame as the place is very nice and just needs managing correctly, if they don't have enough staff and they are not ready for business then they shouldn't be opening the doors to customers. The staff haven't got a clue what is going on. I came out went across the road to another pub and ordered the same food which arrived 6 minutes later! Yes 6 minutes! It's a real shame as this could be a good place to drink/eat if managed propley. DO NOT ORDER FOOD HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE AN HOUR TO SPARE WAITING IN A DIRTY PUB. I'm sorry to say that the Manager or acting Manager is responsible for the level of service at this pub and he/she should be removed.

The negative aspect about this restaurant was that it took an hour for our meals to arrive. We were pre-warned though when ordering and didn't have anywhere else to be, so we didn't mind the wait. (It gave us more time to have a few beverages!) The meals and drinks were reasonably priced and the place had a lovely relaxing atmosphere. Our meals were delicious and we all left feeling very full.

we wanted a quick bite to eat before going to the cinema, picking the Crown was the worst decision we have ever made, the place was busy when we arrived which we took has a good sign how wrong we were, after a very long wait we were served our burgers, the bun was so soggy with grease it fell apart, we discarded the bun & just ate the burger & chips I say ate but the burger was so chewy & chips burnt to a crisp we gave up. We left feeling sick & disgusted, our day out ruined, NEVER again to return.

Oh my god this place never seems to improve... Previous visits to this great Market Town we have found our selves in this food serving pub.. The staff in the past have been generally women who have no eye contact or interest in the customer what so ever... And alway seem to be negative and unhelpful .... When we visited on the 29th Dec for lunch I was surprised to see how quiet the place was empty tables everywhere. Altho the staff seemed to be all male... I got the impression that there had been a staff change.. I approached the bar man to get some drinks and tried to enter into some light chat... Commenting how quite the place was .. He muttered something under his breath, I asked him what he said and he answered with "it doesn't matter" I pushed for a better answer and he declined to offer a alternative response.. I got a round of drinks and gave him a £20 note he dropped my change into my hand from above and therefore several coins rolled across the bar floor.... Begrudgingly offered an apology ... We then enquired about food to be told 1hour wait... We drank up and left... Not to return again.. Appalling pub.

After seeing the A board outside advertising food we called in for lunch. We were told that they had finished serving food even though the menus and condiments were still out and that there would be a wait of 15 mins for hot drinks. We decided to have a drink and decide what to do. My husband was served a flat pint of lager, we decided not to bother complaining and to just use the facilities. By far the dirtiest toilets I have seen in a long time, there was used toilet roll all over the floor and none of the doors locked. Then upon reading the reviews I think we did have a lucky escape.

Just got back from a lovely day out in Bridgnorth for the xmas market. Sadly our lunch in the crown left us feeling well.... rather disappointed. We expected it to be busy with the market on and we knew there would be a wait for food. I qued for 15 minutes for drinks initially with only 1 member of bar staff on. He advised there was a 30 minute delay on food. Returned to the table and told my girlfriend and within a minute we decided what to order and went to the bar. She was then told it was a 50 minute delay on food. Not impressed as we had just bought drinks but we proceeded with our order anyway. We ordered 1 normal brunch and 1 brunch with the go large option for an extra £2. When it was eventually brought to the table it had 1 extra egg and an extra sausage compared to the normal brunch what my partner had. Not as stated in the menu at all. All of it was Luke Warm or cold and the tomatoe wasn't even cooked. We asked the waitress if this was the correct meal she said it was, we said how disappointed we were and she simply walked off???? We even ordered bread and butter which was stale an dry. No table check was done. My girlfriend went to the bar to complain but waited that long she gave up waiting and returned to the table and we left. This was one seriously bad meal. How can u get such a simple meal so so wrong??? Will not be returning which is a shame as we have eaten here several times over the years.

We visited for lunch the pub was not very busy. We ordered our food at 12.53, it took 20 minutes for our coffees to arrive - not a good start. After waiting 40 minutes for our food I asked how long it would be was told 5 or 10 minutes but they didn't actually check with kitchen, we waited another 15 minutes still no food. My husband went to ask and he explained we had been waiting an hour the reply he received was "no you have been waiting 56 minutes!" The food came - my chips were just warm and the pie overcooked. My daughter had the steak sandwich - very tough meat! My husband had fish which was very nice. All the people in the pub were waiting a long time for food. We did have a check back and we said it was ok we didn't want to moan anymore. We will not be returning.

We are regular visitors to Bridgnorth on Saturdays and in the past have called in for a coffee and breakfast sandwich at around 10am and although the service is very slow and there often seems to be bickering among the staff, we liked it for the market day atmosphere.Recently we have been later arriving, choosing to have lunch instead of breakfast and before today we have twice been told that there would be a 45 minute wait for food although the pub was far from busy and we have left and gone elsewhere.Today, however, we visited at approximately 3.15pm and as the front half of the pub was literally empty and the only other people ,other than ourselves and an elderly couple having a drink, were a group of young men by the bar watching the football ,we thought we would be served quickly if we ordered food. However, my husband returned from the bar having been told, once again, that there would be a 45 minute wait.Needless to say we were disgusted, left and went to another pub, which was packed, but we ordered quickly and our meals were served within 15 minutes and they were cheaper and delicious.I really wonder if the manager of this pub wants any custom and after this experience I doubt if we will revisit in the future, as there are a number of good places to eat in the town that provide far better customer service.

As regular visitors to Bridgnorth we thought we would try The Crown Inn for lunch for a change. On first sight it was very nice. Nicely presented and surprisingly large, laid out on different levels. We ordered 2 simple lunches, a steak and onion bagette for myself and sausage and mash for my wife.... And that is where it all went wrong. It took 25 minutes to deliver the food. My wife's sausage and mash was clearly a child's portion, and they forgot to add the gravy. My steak bagette consisted of some sort of scrag end of meat and burnt onions on a very stodgy bagette. My wife asked for the gravy 3 times, every time she was told it was coming but in fact she had finished the meagre serving before it arrived. Yes, there were apologies and offers of free drinks or desserts, but so poor was the service we politely declined the offers and left the restaurant. The Crown looks like a nice busy place to go for a drink but I would never consider eating there again ...ever!

We've visited this place a few times in the past, and while it's never been brilliant, it was always pretty acceptable. However, after today's visit, we won't be returning!Basically, we waited over an hour for two BLT sandwiches, (one with chips, one with salad), and a lasagne with garlic bread. We weren't given any indication beforehand of how long the food was going to take to arrive, but my mum spotted a sign on the coffee bar (no-where near where you order) saying food would take 40 minutes. However, it took a further 25 minutes on top of the 40 to turn up. There was no apology from the waitress. The food was dreadful! The bread on both sandwiches (white and brown) was as dry as a bone, and no butter or marg had been used, and there was just one solitary piece of bacon on each sandwich, which, by the time we'd removed the flabby, fatty rind, left just a tiny piece of meat. The salad had no dressing what-so-ever, and the lasagne was welded to the dish in a lump, after being microwaved to within an inch of its life!At no point were we asked if our food was okay, as I certainly would have told them! This place makes the Wetherspoon's over the road look like a Michelin star restaurant.Judging by other recent reviews this place hasn't got long left!

Popped in on Saturday for a sandwich with my parents. We ordered 2 chip buttys, a bucket of chicken and curly fries and a steak baguette. We were told that it would be 40mins for food, which was fine. The tables were dirty but we just wiped them ourselves. It wasn't particularly busy. after 45 mins we asked at the bar how much longer it would be and were told ours would be the next out. We then saw two orders leave the kitchen which weren't ours. After an hour of waiting I went to ask again and saw our order. The waitress apologised as said that orders were cooked in order. We started to tuck into our food and it was cold. We tried to catch the eye of the waitress but she avoided us. We picked at our food and left. As we have a family member that works for Marston's we try and give them our custom, but never again. I don't think Marston's are interested in this pub anymore and I will be emailing their head office. The complete opposite experience to a Marton's we went to in Salisbury the week before.Shut this place down and turn it into something useful!

Really wish I'd checked in with trip advisor before we went to Bridgnorth as everything we encountered in this pub is already explained in previous reviews.Seemed nice on arrival, reasonably priced. I ordered the steak and pedigree ale pie and my girlfriend ordered a tuna melt with tortilla chips. We took our drinks and sat outside to relax and wait for our meal. After 45 minutes and after finishing our drinks I asked the waitress if she knew when we could expect our food. The waitress said she would go and chase up the kitchen. 15 minutes (now an hour in total) later I got up again to find our food and as I walked inside the waitress was coming out with our food. At this point I was happy to let the time slide as we were starving and just pleased to see the food. Once we started to tuck in it became clear the food was cold, the chips were cold and dry and chewy and i couldn't be sure if the veg was ornamental or not. The pie was dry and cold. My girlfriends tuna melt was cold and dry and their idea of tortillas was about 8 Doritos, no salas or any dressing. The staff at the bar were quick to refund us our money and looking at the other trip advisor reviews it seems to be all coming together as they seemed well used to complaints. What's shocking is they're obviously aware of their inadequacy as a restaurant but doing nothing to sort this out. The staff in the kitchen are obviously in the wrong job and the waitress needs a lesson in customer service and a good manager to shake up her attitude towards her role.We had to get a train back so we struggled to find time to eat anything substantial or really have a decent look around Bridgnorth, seriously tainted our day. Avoid this place.See attached image of my girlfriends horrible tuna melt.

Went for the first secret diner club evening that is run by Jess who owns the fab 'not today seitan' in liar liar..what can i say?.the food was on another level. Litrally the best vegan food in Oswestry and way surpasses anything else available in a vegan cafe in Oswestry. The food was beautifully presented, the flavours were amazing and the cocktails were beautiful too. Really hope the owner decides to run these evenings on a regular basis although once word gets around i imagine getting a table will be really difficult. Its great to see a vibrant young business do so well and honestly the co trading with Liar liar is such a brilliant idea. Two amazing businesses running side by side. I cannot recommend this highly enough, the best vegan resturant/cafe in town by far

Very very disappointing...we booked for Sunday lunch..big mistake. We were not greeted on arrival, there wasn't even anyone behind the bar for us to let them know we had arrived.... But from there it went downhill....we were put on the smallest table in the furthest corner despite there being lots of much nicer empty tables available..we eventually managed to order drinks and asked to order food..The waitress mumbled something and walked off....a lovely young man delivered our drinks and said the young lady would be back.....when she returned to take our food order we asked what she had said, apparently it was they had lamb....then we tried to order but what she actually meant was they only had lamb nothing else and mostly no veg either...one of our party doesnt eat red meat so lamb wasnt an option but the waitress did nothing to try to help the problem...no offer to check if the kitchen could help.....I really could understand this situation if we were walk ins but we had booked...they knew we were coming....why would you not attempt to provide at least one other choice We drove to Bridgnorth from Shrewsbury to take some family out for a treat and thats the best they could offer....obviously we will not return.
