We had the Sunday Carvery and Kleftico from the Specials board. Forget about a freshly cooked piece of beef, freshly cooked to a juicy medium doneness. This was probably cooked yesterday to even, grey textured well done cardboard that even the server at the carvery counter had difficulty carving, laughing that his knife wasn't sharp, it bl**dy should be. Where the meat was over cooked, the veg was undercooked, hard and cold! Crispy roast potatoes? Not a chance, they were soft and floppy having been reheated as witnessed by the age rings under the skin. As for the Kleftico, that wonderful red wine marinated piece of shoulder of spring lamb with a rich dark sauce, a classic Greek dish. Not a chance! It was last week's roast lamb hacked up and put in a tasteless watery gruel with a few of the hard veg and some barely boiled potatoes. Often described as the First or Last pub in Yorkshire, first due to it's geographical location and now I can understand the Last, because of its standard of food.

We were so lucky to find this has a carpark stop over In our camper van on our travels (10/08). The service was 5star from the time we walked through the door, staff were very friendly and so welcoming. It was lovely to see a great working relationship vibe between the staff. Food was so nice, best Lamb curry I've had. The place certainly comes with a view, both day and night but the sun set was well worth waiting for, we will definitely be returning. Thank you to all at Crown & Anchor for making our overnight stay an enjoyable one. Richard & Clare

We pre booked our table and stay in our motorhome. (We have visited before for drinks but it must have been 11 plus years ago!) Before our stay my husband had to seek emergency medical treatment which meant us delaying our table booking by a half hour or so. We only just got parked when we arrived and moved our van to a better spot much later when it was quieter. The place was buzzing with locals and regular tourists alike. The staff are super friendly and accommodating! They are also very good with food allergy and intolerance - when you carry Epi pens that’s good to know! We enjoyed our evening meal and had a great view of the estuary. One special and one standard menu item. They serve local ales as well as standard choice. We were too full for dessert! The next day we had a wander around Spurn / Kilnsea and decided to eat early - this time outside. Again two good specials and great service. If you want to eat at the weekend I would recommend booking - likewise if you are in your motorhome they allow a maximum of 4 - space permitting. Good honest home cooking! We would return and recommend.

We are staying nearby in a campsite and on our third day we decided to eat lunch at the pub. My wife ordered a Hot Beef sandwich in ciabatta bread with chips, mushy peas and gravy. I ordered A Yorkshire pudding wrap which came with roast beef, peas, carrots with 7 roast potatoes and a jug of gravy. Great taste, very filling , I struggled to eat it all, and only £8.50 each dish. Plus there were numerous other choices of dishes and a specials board. Of course the beer was great and the rose wine is recommended. Add to this the Landlord is a great host , all the staff are hospitable. The landlord recommended visiting Spurn point, which we did, a good walk for us or you can take the Spurn Point tour. Spurn point is worth a visit but you must go to the pub, it is the most easterly pub in Yorkshire.

Stopped off for a beer after a run on the nearby beach near spurn head. This pub as a lovely sea view across wetland on the inland side of spurn point and there are other tables further back in an area with trees and grass. Can't comment directly on the food as we didn't eat, but people were waiting with a drink sat outside for a table to come free for the Sunday carvery so that must be a good sign. Local ales available as I had the great newsome honkers. Nice location for a drink and if you pick the right day and time a sunset.

We celebrated our wedding day here and the staff couldn’t have done more to make it the special day it was. They catered for our every need. Chef Charlie made sure to chat through our dietary requirements (there were a lot!) prior to the day, and on the day made sure to check we were happy with everything. He went above and beyond to cater for us and the food was fabulous! The steaks ordered were cooked to perfection and the prawn starter was delicious. The new pies on the menu went down a treat and my daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our gluten free pudding! We were looked after so well by the waiting staff and David and Adrian made us feel so welcome. Thank you so much too all of you it was everything we hoped for and we will remember it always.

Had whole tail scampi, chips and salad and fish coupons with salad. The chips were just horrible cold and dry, the frozen oven type. The scampi was hard, overcooked tiny tasteless dark brown empty balls...obviously pre frozen cheap composite. The salad was some scruffy iceberg lettuce with one translucent micro thin slice of dull old tomato with two flecks of bell pepper. The fish coujons were tiny thin over cooked hard, cold dark brown batter....again obviously pre frozen cheap junk. This food was so hard to get down as it was extremely dry and hard. I asked the landlord and cook why can't they make fresh food? Their reply was ..."we make everything fresh and the chips are hand cut and deep fried" I laughed and told them that they are dishonest! This is NOT fresh home cooked food! This food is worse than a cheap motorway service but. The landlord and cook have no manners and all the love and passion has gone! They didn't even apologise or take some money off the bill as I'd left most of the food. What a shame that a pub with stunning views has become a lifeless, dull boozer. Simple fresh honest food isn't hard or expensive to do!! Been coming to this pub for years - no more.

Couldn't review the meal,We have eaten here many times in the past so I thought this will be a treat for my wife's 60th birthday, booked for 1215 lunch, left a contact no.Arrived 1205 the pub was shut no answer at the doors.phoned 4 times no answer.a delivery driver arrived,I asked if it was open,he said he would enquire,he came back and said the owner would be out to explain,he explained that the electricity had gone off so they couldn't open.I can accept this but why not a call earlier to explain and we wouldn't have travelled. Disappointed.

First time inside a public house this year for obvious reasons. We had heard some great feedback from other visitors, who commented “how safe they felt”We were not disappointed, the current set of rules were carried out to the letter, you could not have felt more safe. The food was good pub grub, and the drinks, very reasonable, the service was spot on, and every care was taken when ordering and being served. We really enjoyed it and will definitely call in again. Thank you for making us feel welcomed and more importantly very safe.

I love it here. Cosy fire, wonderful view of all the waders and great food. We had prawn cocktails that were really generous, scampi, kleftiko and chicken all superb. Puddings great choice too with blackberry and apple pie; pecan pie and huge ice cream sundae, with Timothy Taylor too what more could you ask ?

We had one night in Kilnsea staying in our motorhome at a local caravan site. Went here for dinner and had a great experience. Good beer, really interesting 'specials' on food menu and also the standard pub fare. Friendly staff and excellent quality food. We will come back.

I've reviewed this pub before in the days of "Jean" and thought it was not as bad as some said, I have even stayed here a couple of times.Since my last visit in October 2018 it has been sold and new owners are in place. When I walked in I was very surprised by how nice the facelift was - looks much better. We hadn't booked and it was looking like a drink only, but the very helpful chef / barman, managed to get us a table in pole position by the window. So we ate a nice meal, (cajun pasta, yum) and watched the sun go down while drinking beer.Shout out for the C and A - great location, go and visit it you'll have a great time.
