Cross Keys Inn in East Riding of Yorkshire

Visited with family members yesterday. The landlady has really done a great job of bringing the pub back to life. I'm a neighbour and live next-door. I've seen the transformation for myself. Brilliant food and friendly people. Well done and keep up the hard work.

Good choice of beers etc, good size beer garden at the back with plenty of parking, also disabled parking with access.Pool table, dart board and other games available. Live music on certain days and disco nights. A social afternoon on Thursday with various games and Live music from Mikey G, great afternoon from 3 till 5. Food served daily looks very good. Friendly staff with good service. Sadly no sky TV ,but you can't have everything.

Lovely friendly pub, Thursday afternoon has entertainment on with bingo, a quiz, and a singer, great fun! Excellent food, the landlady has done a fantastic job since taking over

The cross keys has reopened after it was closed for some time. It's a greene king pub and has a wide range of beers lager and cider including greene king IPA but sadly no hand pumps. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. There is a pool table and a dartboard.

We had my brother s wake there amazing they made us very welcome the kitchen wasn't ready but we had an outside catering food brilliant highly recommend

It's great news that the Cross Keys is finally back open, and I'm looking forward to the changes it's set to undergo. With a brand new pool table and darts board, it's shaping up to be an exciting spot. The staff were fantastic and welcoming, although it might still be a bit tatty due to the recent scaffolding work. Nevertheless, I'm sure it'll have a fantastic future ahead, and my visit a week or two ago was definitely worthwhile.

Since it's been taken over this month, it's been the best it's ever been. The staff are lovely, place is so clean. The atmosphere is welcoming and cosy. Dog friendly, which is ace. Will be our local now

Staff and service faultless ,social after noon 3 till 5 Thursdays with chips and sandwiches laid on free with compare entertainment and bar games .staff and patrons Friendly and welcoming, first time visit was a pleasant experience will defo be making return visits in future .

Great value Sunday Lunch had at cross keys. We had a piece of gammon and beef, vegies which were very nice. Plates were hot too which isn't always the case in bars/pubs . Lots of gravy .Overall very nice and recommend it.

Popped in for Sunday lunch and wasn’t disappointed, food was lovely and hot and the beef melted in your mouth. Lovely atmosphere in the pub and the landlord & landlady were very welcoming. Will definitely be back.

Nothing wrong with this pub yet it always seems to be up for Let?. It's a lovely looking and furnished pub and it's a shame it's not busier..not sure why it's not popular. Would recommend trying cross keys if you haven't already. Friendly / helpful staff

The staff were amazing friendly and the landlady had several obsticals to overcome and that lady did it. When we are back in this part of the country as we are from the South East we will definitely be heading to see her again. Johnny Pat was great well worth the visit, totally recommend it 👍

Cross Keys in Cott is so lovely the landlady Dawn goes over and above to make sure you feel welcome. It’s Covid safe she’s totally on that ensuring everyone signs in and wears masks when moving around and I have observed her evicting people when they don’t adhere.

Drinks were fine and service was fast / efficient

Called in for Sunday lunch which is served 12-4. The pub wasn’t busy however the landlady was great. We were asked to complete a track and trace which I thought was good as some places don’t even ask. Sunday lunch was lovely the mash was amazing. £7.50 I thought was a good price , the main menu looks good and very cheap prices will return again.

Walked my dog and came for food and a few beers brilliant spot recently renovated, they even fed my puppy for free.

I worked there. Management told me to take the out of date sausages out of the bin that I'd just put them in also always tells us to use stuff that's out of date (I never did but I can't guarantee other staff didn't use it) keep away filthy place!

We heard this pub had a refurbishment so we thought we would go and have a nosey , so we decided on the Sunday lunch ... what a disappointment the food was so bland and tasteless ... waited ages for the food to arrive good job we was hungry and we did eat it all but that was because we was hungry , one guy on the bar serving and it was busy and one girl bringing food out to all the tables , felt really sorry for those 2 members of staff coping with a busy Sunday can’t understand why management can’t put extra staff on , I had to go to the bar and remind them that we was still waiting for our pudding after 30 minutes after our main and we got given the wrong pudding which we ordered , I am not blaming the staff because they looked really busy but was told the kitchen staff was really stressed , if you are going to run a local pub with food get more staff in so you get repeat customers unfortunately we won’t be returning.

We live in the village and haven't been to this pub for a long time . But popped to some local shops a couple of weeks ago and thought we'd give it a whirl, well we wasn't disappointed and been back 3 times since. Staff friendly nice atmosphere, good menu and the food has been spot on the last twice. Would recommend.

We visited our son who is at Hull Uni for his Birthday. Decided to visit Cross Keys as they were really helpful sorting out a quiet table area and dealing with our various food requirements. We drove across from Manchester, fought through the wind and rain of Storm Ciara and were a bit frazzled. Clare and her team immediately helped out by serving drinks and coming to take our order. They couldn't have been nicer and more helpful, allowing us to.bring our own Birthday cake. Food was generally ok, and I'm sure will improve over time with vegan and veggie options. They have recently had a refurb so place was v.nice and toilets were spotless. All in all a great place for a family to visit.

Fantastic pub, great food and nice pint of Abbot Ale. The music was fabulous when we we in there too. I would highly recommend visiting this pub as we will do whenever we are in the area again

Booked a table last night for 5 people. Steak and wine night but when we arrived we were told they only had 2 steaks. Ordered them medium to well done they came with blood oozing out so had to go back to the kitchen. The red wine came in an ice bucket! As it was Brexit night at 10pm we asked if one of the TV screens could be switched to a News channel only to be told no so we left and went home to open the Bubbly. Won’t be rushing back I’m afraid

We had fish and chips and chicken and ham pie on a Wednesday evening. The quality of food and service were very good.

I have not visited my friends who live in Cottingham for about 2yrs and we have often used the Cross keys for meals We went the other day and what a pleasant surprise a fresh, clean modern pub perviously it had been old fashioned and stuck in a bit of a time warp We were greeted by a very welcoming guy behind the bar who is now the manager and he ensured we had everything we need and nothing was to much trouble. Overall a great makeover and great service.

Was once a welcoming atmospheric pub, always happy smiley staff. This is the 3rd time iv been in the pub since referb and been served what I can only describe as a slob I am not posh but to see a middle age man waiting to serve me watching mucky, dirty, filthy images on his phone at the bar he's not what I want to be welcomed with when I want to just chill after work. Supposed to be a family orientatated pub, it is now very sterile and unwelcoming. Sorry keys don't know what you have done but it's not how it used to be

Bit noisey but football was on telly. Not ideal for taking someone for a date , food offer was good but not expect michaelan star. Service not that good . But overall can not complian you get what

Asked for a pint of Moretti didn't have it on. My brother in law asked for a blue moon, didn't have it on. Other brother in law ask if Abbott was on, said yes, but alas no. All had different drinks to what was supposedly on offer. Please put something over the pumps that are not available.

We visited for a themed pub quiz and meal with friends. I had a steak pie, other half had hunters chicken. The food was really good and didn't take very long considering the place was packed. Atmosphere was relaxed and fun and the quizmaster was entertaining. Great night, cheers guys

Called in for the Thursday Quiz night as we were staying in the area. It was rammed but the Landlady got us a table and chairs from outside, with the help of a couple of locals, which was no mean feat as it was chucking it down. She dried it all off for us and made us feel so welcome, as did all of the staff. The quizmaster was great too 👌. He got the place bouncing with a great vibe, great music and top banter. We were made to feel very wanted and accepted straight away. A credit to you all and to the locals, who were just lovely 👏. Came for a cheeky pint with our 2 dogs,the server paige instantly gave us a bowl of water and then came back with some carvery meat for them.its so nice to be able to come and bring our boys out with us,well done Cross Keys,truly excellent service.

The staff were really nice and asked if you were enjoying the food and they were really polite but the atmosphere wasn't the best because there was dogs around the place. I didn't really like the dog hairs going in my food so I would say that if you had a dog you should sit outside were your dog could do what it wants. So if you want a peaceful dinner I would recommend that you don't go here.

A lovely friendly pub serving delicious food. We had two diet cokes and two appletisers and we all had a main course. The cost was around £50. They bought out a container of treats for the dog too and a water bowl. Great service would definately return.

Ate here today as a family of three adults. Our daughter is at Hull Uni so we came on a visit with our Rottweiler Inca and found this pub at the top end of Cottingham main street. The pub is dog friendly and you could sit anywhere. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We had three soft drinks and three main courses and the bill came to £36, which we thought was good value for money. The food was plentiful, hot and tasty. A simple and and unpretentious place to come. We will return

Dog friendly pub in fact very dog friendly we sat outside and they brought water for the dog and some meat off cuts so dog well chuffed.

We use to love this pub, lovely inside and great Sunday roast dinners. A while back they stopped have having sky sports therefore it become quieter, they changed the roast to a carvery and the quality of the food was lost. It’s a shame as we really like eating at this pub. We still visit great place to stop for a quick drink!

Excellent burgers and warm friendly atmosphere

Only been for tea with my very young granddaughter but the food was very good both for adults and the younger generation. Staff friendly and helpful. Have different specials for each day of the week. Nice atmosphere.

Love the old feel to the pub, the food is excellent and well priced, the staff were friendly and gave an excellent service. I'll be coming back here for my birthday this month and I can't wait.

This is a lovely friendly pub, staff make you very welcome and food is delicious everytime. Love to take my dog, they are totally dog friendly and provide dog dinner for £2 . Perfect

This is a very friendly old style local as well as serving food. The atmosphere is very cosy but there is an outside area for warmer days. The food is typical pub fare though they serve 2 styles of chips and many of them. My friends were very happy with their meals - steak pie and steak and chips. I wanted a less meaty option so went for a falafel burger in brioche bum. The burger was very dry but all the rest good.

Service and bar staff excellent bring back the carvery Sunday lunch served from the kitchen was not as good as the carvery. Other meals were ok though

This was the 1st time i've eaten in here family i was with have done before the bar staff where very friendly and helpful we had the Granddaughter with us & they couldn't do enough for us all. Had the mixed grill what comes with free pint for £14:99 but was well worth it was plenty on the plate all the food was cooked perfect & excellent quality they have a good menu & plenty to choose from will definitely be going back.

Absolutely rude management! Apparently the chef had called in sick. This maybe the case but speaking to your customers like crap isn't the way to solve this. Will not visit again and would urge anyone to look at other venues in the area.

Very good pub food. Staff really nice and worked hard to look after us. Portions generous. Good pint of real ale. Will be going back with our 🐕. As is very dog friendly. So go for a walk in Cottingham Park and then pop in for a pie and a pint. Sounds like a plan!

Found this place at just the right time, tired, hungry and cold. Great staff,good real ales and huge portions of food. One of us had fish and chips which looked great, I had Yourkshire pudding wrap, which was epic didn't eat it all!

Cozy pub with a good Sunday lunch

Food was mediocre, helpful staff and pleasant atmosphere, good ale too.

We visited on a quiet Thursday afternoon and were welcomed warmly by a waitress. The service was quick and the food great value for money! We all ended up ordering the beef Yorkshire pud wraps and they definitely didn’t disappoint. Very large portions that we could of probably shared one between two! Would reccomend to others

We havnt been to Cross Keys in a long time and were overjoyed when we won a free steak night meal for 2. We took our 2 daughters along and we all enjoyed lovely food. Hubby had the rib eye and i had the sirloin which was so tender. Girls had burgers and chicken which were equally enjoyable. We will be back to try the tapas which also looked very nice.

Disappointing ale, did not taste right. Food looked good but i did not actually eat here.

It’s the second time we’ve visited for the carvery and we can’t fault a thing about it. Great selection of meat, potatoes, veg and lovely homemade Yorkshire puds All the staff are great and very friendly and the new manager Kerry has made some great improvements to the place. Good selection of wine and gins too

We called ahead to ask if we could park or Motorhome overnight - greeted by friendly efficient staff - food great - lovely pub - wouldn’t hesitate to return - great place!!!

Wow what can I say. Mixed starter for four well persented, lovely. Mains ample,I had the yorkshire pud that was filled with beef stripes and stuffing I couldn't manage the chips.my company had surf and turns and 8oz steak,they couldn't finish theirs either. Very reasonably priced and pleasent service.
