Cross Keys in North Lincolnshire

I used to come here a few years ago and stopped when the previous owners left. Hearing good things I wanted to return so popped in for a Sunday dinner. Started with the garlic mushrooms to start, really substantial but most importantly good flavour. The main course, well when ever you go out for a Sunday dinner either the roast potatoes are not great, veg, always something. Well not this time the red cabbage was sweet, the mash creamy and velvety, the sausage meat stuffing wow, the Yorkshire pudding thankfully didn't have the baking soda in it to make it rise so wasn't dark brown and bitter from the soda burning. Belly pork stunning and roasts crunchy. It was as good if I didn't it at home for a loved one amd I never say that when I eat out for Sunday dinner. Also had extra gravy and apple sauce I rate this Sunday dinner as good as hope amd anchor and they are Mitchell bib gourmand..... its that good here

IT MUST BE OVER 5 YEARS SINCE I DID A REVIEW BECAUSE EATING OUT OVER THESE YEARS HAS NOT BEEN THAT GOOD. BUT HAVING ATE AT THE CROSS KEYS GRASBY TWICE IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS I HAD TO JUMP BACK ON HERE AND TELL YOU ALL HOW GOOD THIS PLACE IS. FIRSTLY THE STAFF ARE SO POLITE AND WELCOMING, THE FOOD IS GOOD , COOKED WELL, TASTES FANTASTIC AND NOT MUCKED ABOUT WITH FANCY ARTY FARTY DECORATIONS. WELL WORTH EVERY PENNY FOR WHAT YOU GET AND PRICES ARE SO REASONABLE. REBOOKED AGAIN FOR NEXT WEDNESDAY. TIP FOR MANAGEMENT- DONT CHANGE ANYTHING YOU HAVE GOT EVRYTHING PERFECT.

Called on a Tuesday lunchtime as we were passing by, the lunch and service were excellent, the new landlord and his team deserve to do well, fabulous views of Lincolnshire from the restaurant.

Popped on a whim one Saturday afternoon and was absolutely gorgeous. Fresh, tasty food, excellent service and the bar was dog friendly. Will definitely return.

We visited the Cross Keys for an impromptu lunch, as it is local to us and we have visited previously some years ago. Whilst the pub is cosy and quaint, the food was well below standard. We ordered the Whitby scampi with chips, garden peas, tartare sauce and lemon. After a significant delay, the food arrived, slopped on a plate with no sign of the tartare sauce or lemon mentioned on the menu. The chips were cold and overcooked and it was a most unappetising plate of food. We have never left such a negative review anywhere else and usually find something positive to say, sadly on this occasion we can't. Drive straight past and visit the Caistor Lakes or even Brigg Garden Centre for a better dining experience.

Excellent Sunday roast, lovely desert and good service. Very comfortable and clean establishment, with wide ranging views across the countryside.

Just had a beautiful Sunday dinner ,absolutely the best I’ve had in a long time , very well presented , don’t usually do desserts but rice pudding was on the menu and I wasn’t disappointed came with flambé sliced banana and syrup on the top it was thick and creamy , Weill definitely be coming back , lovely atmosphere will definitely be coming back as long as you hold on to your chef 10 out of 10 thankyou , Annie x

My husband and I frequent drive by this lovely looking pub, but have never stopped. This time we decided to give it a try, and so stopped for lunch. We were very surprised to be treated like unwanted customers. The couple working there were rude and made us feel foolish for not having booked a table. They hesitated about where we could sit and finally my husband asked if we could sit out on terrace. The pub was half empty with plenty of tables, but we appreciated that customers may arrive soon to their tables, so we were content to sit outside. Unfortunately we felt too uncomfortable after that to want to eat and so we left after drinks. We will not be returning

New landlord & chef as the pub is now up grabs for more permanent landlord , so thought we'd give it a try got to be honest I ordered the Beef lasagne in red wine , it came out looking very tasty , that's where it ended the mince looked like it had been boiled in water & looked grey totally tasteless , a slither of pasta but to be fair loads of cheese no garlic taste no RED wine taste. By the way PROPER lasagne meat should have red wine in it , there was no tomato either or garlic taste , my partner did mention it to one of the staff but I'd already gone out by then .On the bright side his chips were lovely & his chicken goujons & ribs

The menu choice was set for valentine dining we did enquire about ordering from the normal menu but was told that the whole party had to we could not choose from each according to what we wanted... Booked well in advance for four of us on Mother's day for lunch. Arrived on time and were shown to our table and ordered just two starters. These eventually arrived having waited an hour and ten minutes, they were bland and the portion very small but being charged out at top end prices of £7/8 each. The main meals were 2 lamb shanks and 2 braised beef and this then took an hour and a half to arrive. Staff just seemed to be loitering near the bar and not attentive to service or what was going on. Our starter plates were just left on the table and when we made staff aware we had been waiting some time we were fobbed off with "the bar is busy and we are short on kitchen staff". There were 2 people in the bar on arrival and this is Mothers Day so you PLAN for it! The main meals were on small plates, the amount of braised beef was small and the quality was greasy. No additional gravy was offered and the vegetables were diced and in adequate. A rock hard stuffing ball and two roast potatoes later. Again they want top price here for their food with an inadequate quality and poor unprofessional service run with a lack of leadership. When we raised these concerns we were offered a discount on the food to their credit however one particular member of staff was in objectionable denial and was rather surly claiming everyone else was happy. Interesting as she hadn't been out to check. She claimed everything is cooked fresh to order - well not in the case of 12 hour braised beef or lamb shank! Not a valid excuse or reason for very slow service.To summarize, expensive, slow service , lack of leadership and small portions. Much better quality and value for money to be had elsewhere! Left to buy a dessert from Tesco as it will be much quicker.
