Crooked Billet in South Bucks

Came in Saturday. Food was nice and the service was amazing! Was served by a lovely young girl called Cerys. She helped me with suggestions to order. Always smiling and never felt like I was a hassle! Thank you Cerys and everyone at The Crooked Billet!

Understaffed. Came in sat to chose food. Order process was awful abandoned after 10min wait and left. It’s good value but not a great experience. App didn’t seem to work I’ve been on good days and this wasn’t one of them.

Visiting family for the weekend. Searched where to eat in the area and found this place. Very warm welcome. Food was good and not to expensive. Very pleasant young lady Tilly served us and made sure everything was fine throughout our stay. Very polite and good with kids. Definitely return on next visit. Credit where credits due 👍

Omg I was absolutely shocked by this place…online the last god knows how many reviews were all 5 star. In my personal opinion these are either false or the people that attend were paid to do a review online. When we arrived we struggled to get a car parking space, when we walked in we were shocked by how half empty it was. When we walked in there were 2 members of staff behind the bar and a sign saying find a table. I had already took it upon myself to book ahead expecting it to be massively busy. Now I know why it isn’t. When I asked a member of staff the team leader lead us to a table that wasn’t made up instead it was sticky and disgusting….worse was yet to come we took the kids to the toilets…omg I had to hold my breath or else I would have been physically sick 🤢 🤮🤢 the toilets in this place clearly hasn’t been cleaned in a very long time. Pics attached. When we decided what we’re having we made our way to the bar to place our order. Me and the kids are easily pleased but my partner is a bit more selective. She opted to have the bangin katsu banquet but she doesn’t like chicken on the bone so asked very politely to swap them for more nuggets but the team leader point blank said no they don’t do swaps. Her attitude was disgusting. As my partner suffers with ADHD and put on the spot she took a few minutes to find something she would eat and asked for the New Yorker but minus the BBQ sauce and the chicken to be burnt. When the order was placed said team leader came out and had ago at the girl putting the order through. The food was not very nice at all. The rice over cooked, the chicken even though was requested burnt was nowhere near burnt. The sizzler I ordered was certainly not sizzling when it came out. Also this place urgently needs a refurb, massive patches of the carpet ripped up covered in red & white tape. Bar full of dirty empty glasses walls covered in crayon. Please don’t visit here unless desperate. The staff need retraining. This place has the potential to be a great place but not until the above is completed. Theo’s review is my honest opinion. All other reviews I assume are lies cooked up in their kitchen.

Very friendly staff. Food was delicious. I had the Crown of Burgers and really recommend. All other food was very good too!

Visiting the area from Newcastle, searched places to eat in the area and this came up. Visited after a long drive all very tired. Greated by Nancy she was very friendly and welcoming made sure we where all happy, made sure my kids got their food first she was an all round kind person who goes above and beyond for her staff. Food came out quick tasted very nice. We enjoyed it that much we came here 3 of the 4 nights stayed. Definitely recommend if you want god pub food.

Spotted the pub late in the evening and feeling hungry, despite arriving shortly before the kitchen was closing we received a warm friendly welcome and on ordering our food we were definitely weren’t disappointed, both our meals were superb, freshly cooked and very tasty, we would definitely recommend. Special thanks to Nancy our waitress and Michael the chef.

Visited today with family for a Easter Sunday roast, food was really good 5stars service was good aswell desert was amazing had the ultimate, Highly recommend 5/5 will be coming again.

Today we had a great birthday celebration here, Cerys and Chris could not do enough for our large party and the chefs Jamie and Ellie served up some delicious food, best we have had there.

Food terrible .not hot Luke warm.missmatched furniture quite scruffy looking.service very poor.cutlery stand covered in dust and dirty.dirty cutlery had to check threw it and pick out clean looking utencils.never go there again.

We've visited this place three times recently. We had stopped going for a long time because the food wasn't very good previously. On our first recent visit, we were pleased to bring our dogs and family, and we were seated in the bar area. We were offered the same menu as the restaurant. The service was amazing from start to finish. The venue was clean and felt fresh, and the staff were lovely, chatty, and professional. The food was also excellent. We were a little surprised when about ten armed police officers came through the back, but the male manager remained calm and professional throughout. Our second visit was for lunch in the restaurant, and we ordered via the app. The service was just as impressive as when ordering at the bar – fast and professional. Although they couldn't make my first cocktail choice due to a missing ingredient, they promptly came over with alternative suggestions. Again, the food was great, hot, and fresh. We then visited mid-week for lunch in the garden. We ordered through the app, and once again, the staff were happy, chatty, professional, quick, and efficient at all times. The food was tasty, hot, and served very quickly. Overall, we will definitely be returning! With fast, hot, and tasty food and such great service, what more could you ask for?"

Went here a little while and had a wonderful time, our server Aaliyah was funny and thoughtful and really made the experience for us, will be coming back some time soon I'm sure.

Fantastic friendly staff,good selection of drinks.small play equipment in the garden which sadly the swing has been damaged,but still enough equipment for the kids to enjoy.pool table and darts available for the adults.Food can be a bit hot or miss ,but usually ok for pub food. Great place if you have kids.

Nice to be in a venue which is quite and people not on top of each other. Beef lasagne and salad was ok but I thought the portion size of the garlic bread was small. The salad was plentiful but I thought the lasagne was rubbery. The turkey dinner was average, the turkey was akin to rolled up turkey in a pack rather than turkey which has been dispensed directly from the bone. The turkey roast mirrors a microwave readymeal. Plenty of carpark spaces.

A great, family friendly pub. We went for lunch with friends and were greeted by the lovely Lexi, and nothing was too much trouble. We requested a quieter area if possible as we had children who need a calmer environment with us, and she was able to make this work perfectly for us. There's a huge menu to choose from - really something for everyone. The fussy eaters in our group were all spoiled for choice, and we were really happy with such a wide vegetarian range too. Lexi - thank you for looking after us and we still need to come back for pudding!

Occasionally pop in for lunch as working near by. Always pleasant staff (Lexi & Ellie) and a quick turn around. Food is pretty consistent, some nice new items on the menu. Will be returning soon!

Was here on Thursday, lovely friendly staff and food just lush. We were passing through and had a long journey ahead of 4 hoursvand the food and portions kept us going until well after getting home.. Tilly was a little gem. The kids want to see her again next time we travel.

Chris was an absolute gentleman serving us and was really patient with my disabled colleague. Food was brought out in a timely manner and the pub is full of pleasant people.

Stopped in on a Tuesday night after work, staff were very attentive and helpful and food was great value.

So I was supposed to be an audience member for a television show being filmed in Pinewood Film Studios, but because of traffic, I got there way too late. On my way back home, I stopped in the crooked billet. I was pleasantly surprised with the customer service. The food was nice and inexpensive, and the staff was just delightful. I felt a lot better for missing the show.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Long wait for food which we knew about but when food did arrive it was Luke warm at best would not recommend to anyone which is a great shame as we normally love the food from this chain disappointing

I visited with three friends prior to going to a pantomime in Windsor. We ordered burgers and as it was a Friday we received two for one. There was even an offer on drinks. We also ordered one huge sundae dessert that was large enough for all four of us to share. The server even brought us four bowls to share the dessert. The quality and quantity of the food was excellent and I think the Hungry Horse pubs give the best value for money of anywhere. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. I also liked the help yourself bar where all the condiments are kept. We were all thoroughly impressed with everything and will definitely be visiting again and will recommend Crooked Billet to all our friends. Thank you for such good value delicious food and wonderful service in a nice atmosphere. What more can you ask for?

Had a drink with friends, it was nice & quiet just how I like it

The staff was friendly but the environment d dwasn’t nice as it has flies flying everywhere but the food wasn’t as great as expected. My son ordered the quadzilla in the “our burgers” section and it was big for his size but he managed but the side (which was fries) had no taste at all. It was bland. And my daughter ordered the Southern fried chicken and she said it has no taste at all and so did her sides (Fries). My husband ordered the melted steak and it also has no taste at all! Same goes with my food. Basically what this sums up is that the food isn’t as tasty and is very dry and bland.

staff here was friendly, the place had bugs everywhere and the food was very plain, especially the chips. the quadzilla was very big and the beef was just horrendous.

Will not be returning to this pub! And will be putting an official complaint in to Green King direct about the way the staff speak to paying customers. Your staff in this pub need to be trained on customer service, they so rude and unprofessional, no wonder the place is empty! Avoid this place!

RUDE STAFF!!! Extremely disappointed with this place, and will not be returning again! This place needs new staff, staff that respect their customers! The bar was constantly unstaffed, the two ladies that were working behind the bar kept disappearing, they were rude and approaching customers with a really bad attitude and calling customers darling is not acceptable!

Evie was very kind to us and the food was very delicious I will one hundred percent return here again! And they accept dogs it’s a bonus!! They even provide water for the dogs.

Came here on the weekend lunchtime for their festive menu in lead up to christmas with some friends. The place was pretty much empty, and I was given the most truly worst roast dinner I’ve ever had. Dry meat, soggy overcooked veg and the dryest roast potatoes i’ve ever had - they were rock hard from being overcooked. Cranberry sauce looked dodgy too. I drowned the whole thing in gravy to make it somewhat edible. Staff friendly enough but service was so slow and unorganised. We pre ordered our dishes earlier in the week and it still took them 45 mins to bring out starters. Sadly would not recommend at all I was shocked at the quality of food they were able to serve.

A large group of 27 of us came for our annual christmas family meal and we had a really great experience. The food was really nice there wasn't a single issue with anyone's meal. The staff were really friendly and also it didn't cost us the earth will 100% return again!

Visited the Crooked Billet for a family meal for my Birthday. Servers were Jack, Aaliyah and Shannon. They couldn’t do enough to make sure a had a great meal. Even brought me out some birthday cake!! Nothing was too much bother for the team.Thank you so much guys for making my birthday meal special!!!

Went here on Saturday 23/11/24. Around 6pm, place was almost empty. Bar staff, although friendly, very inexperienced. Waitress was ok, didn’t come to see if we were ok with our meals and had to chase an item that was missed from our order. Ordered the jerk chicken meal, very bland, and rice was mushy. Burgers were also really poor. The only thing that felt hot and “just cooked” were the fries. You have to order and pay before seeing the meals and to be honest I think that is the only thing that stopped us complaining or not paying the full amount! Didn’t enjoy, and can now understand why the place was so empty on a Saturday early evening!!

Staff are always friendly. Pub is well presented and clean. Food is typical hungry horse- Greene king. Good and at fairly cheap price.

Been here a few times recently and the food is nice and great value, nice chilled atmosphere. The staff were all very friendly, Lexi was very friendly and helpful through out the evening…made the extra effort to make sure we had what we needed and also came over the tell us about the Halloween party, which sounds great. Will be going back soon!

Its very welcoming. Lexi welcomed us and made sure nothing was too much trouble. Chris was doing the food,which was lovely and hot,I hate warm/cold food ,there was plenty of it and it looked appetising. It was good value for money . Evie served us and was very attentive . You were not rushed and left to order when we wanted which is always very nice.I hate being rushed . I would go back again

Decaf coffee (£2.60ish) - it was a 50p freeze dried sachet. Utter rip off. However, a lovely young lady gave us a coffee bean machine latte which, although wasn't great, was better than an instant. I had the all day brekkie, but no eggs (they were thrown out the night before) and the beans looked gross. Tables were sticky and the menus were very dirty and sticky.

Staff are friendly Atmosphere is good But guys seriously, the food is just awful. Seriously consider about getting an easy to manage menu that is much smaller but more manageable, would be far better to have even just 6 things on the menu but that can actually be cooked properly and tastes nice. This is ment as constructive feedback.

Came in last night for some dinner after work. Got served by the amazing Tilly, even due to the limited menu the food was still amazing from the chef Monk. Will definitely be back again to try the rest of the menu

Enjoyed a lovely meal here. After phoning to say that we would be late to our reservation, there were no issues in changing the timings. Although there was a limited menu due to an issue with the gas, our group of 8 all enjoyed our meals and the kids enjoyed receiving a little toy. Tilly, Lexie, Shannon were very helpful and service was great.

Served by the lovely Tilly and team, had a fabulous evening. Very family friendly and calm lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend.
