Reading the reviews prior to our stay we were feeling slightly nervous about our stay. I honestly can’t see where the bad reviews come from, we had a one night Boujee room stay with dinner and champagne included. Check in staff were attentive and polite, a slight mishap with our dinner reservations were no problem and booked in slightly later than intended but no bother. The Thai restaurant was out of this world!!! Our room was excellent and of a high standard. Would definitely stay again without question, only slight negative drinks are expensive.

Avoid! Whilst everything may look decadent on the surface this is a hotel trying to be something it’s not. It’s tired and grubby and the ethos is all about taking money from your pocket with everything, including breakfast (despite being b&b rate) attracting 13.5% service charge despite the poor service.

Not 5 star. Service great. Room needed some repairs and cleaning quite poor. Wipe clean floor was weird and a bit sleezy. Quite overpriced. Have stayed in far better pristine hotels for far less and better value. Restaurant service good but food very basic. Chicken breast served on spinach with no staple. Chips £8 as was the brocolli for myself as a diabetic. However nice vibe as was the bar which was extremely entertaining and the best part of the stay.

We checked some reviews before arriving and couldn't understand the reasons for the negative feedbacks. Our experience was excellent—the staff was attentive and professional, and the room was warm, clean and cozy. I just have a small recommendation: since you provide a nice bathrobe, it would be great to include slippers as well. That would make the stay even more comfortable.

"Bad experience and it’s not our first time so I am surprised we returned. The food is very average. The restaurant is full of people that are unaware of better places locally. The Staff are very poor; under trained, rude and disrespectful. I wouldn’t return which is very sad for a local hotel/restaurant. One to avoid

A great experience; the restaurant is beautifully decorated with traditional wooden beams above and modern decor tastefully mixed in. The staff were polite and service was good. Loved the food… had a great variety of very tasty dishes. Used a Buy a Gift voucher which seemed to be the best value for a 12 plate menu which left us more than satisfied.

After walking out of Browns following a tantrum over their lack of oat milk, my friends and I headed to The Crazy Bear for breakfast. I’d only ever eaten at their Thai restaurant a couple of years ago, which was fantastic, so I had high hopes. We were really grateful that they found us a table despite breakfast service having just finished, but they didn’t mention that a lot of items had already run out. I ordered Eggs Florentine, which was nice overall—though a bit salty—but at least the eggs were poached and runny. I also ended up with a bonus hash brown and a charred sausage on my plate, which was actually meant for my friend. I ordered a side of avocado and even asked again, but it never arrived. One friend was disappointed with their small portion of Nutella French toast, and our other friend’s vegetarian breakfast left a lot to be desired. On top of that, they had run out of baked beans, croissants, and pain au chocolat. The funniest part, though, was when they told us they’d also run out of ketchup—at a breakfast service! They’d also run out of oat milk, but at least they had coconut and almond milk instead of just soya, which was better than Browns. I opted for an almond mocha, which was lovely, but no spoon was provided to stir in my sugar. The staff seemed under pressure, and it felt like the chef wasn’t too pleased about having to prepare a last-minute breakfast, so the food lacked care and attention. Overall, it wasn’t a disaster, but it didn’t quite live up to the Crazy Bear standard. Three stars this time.

Avoid at all costs. We were racially abused and harassed and then humiliated by being forced to leave our table and your restaurant within 30 minutes of being sat down. We were traumatised, yet the manager just stood by (right beside our table) and watched this happen and chose not to intervene when she could’ve prevented this. Management chose to do nothing as we were left feeling like we had no choice but to leave our table and your restaurant, still hungry having not eaten or even drank our champagne. We are still in shock and utterly appalled and devastated from this experience. Regardless of us not being happy with the manager for making a mistake with our food choices, no one should have to endure what we did. We did nothing wrong!! We paid good money to dine here, we did not choose to be publicly humiliated and racially attacked in your establishment, and with zero intervention, help or support by management to diffuse the situation. We weren’t rude or abusive to any staff member including the manager as we are not raised to behave like animals. Once we were seated at the table, we were told the 12 plate Thai dinner had to be either both vegetarian or both meat which we agreed to and chose vegetarian as I dont eat meat. The manager who was serving us at that time, told us she could do a mixture of meat and vegetarian options for the starter, but the main would have to be one or the other, so we chose that to be vegetarian. It was only when the main dishes started to arrive we noticed they were all meat, which was when we reminded the Manager this is not what she agreed to, especially as my friend does not eat beef and I don’t eat meat, and had we been told there was going be a mixture of meat and vegetarian dishes for the main, my friend would have made a point of stating she does not eat beef for religious reasons, and I would have shared my preferences on which vegetarian mains I preferred to have. However, the manager became quite confrontational and denied having told us our mains would be all vegetarian, she even suggested we look at the CCTV which I found not only to be a bizarre way to resolve the situation but also very insulting as she was implying we were lying, to which I responded, there should be no sound recorded without our permission. The manager continued to argue with us instead of coming to a resolution so that we could continue to enjoy the Thai experience we paid good money for. It was at this point the situation escalated as the manager had not come to a resolution which we feel was a quite a simple one. Honor her word and bring us the vegetarian mains. This is when a random guest from another table came over to us and started to shout at us infront of the manager and get involved. I strongly believe had the manager at that point intervened and asked that guest kindly to sit down and that she’s handling the situation, the other guests would have known and seen that her behaviour will not be accepted by your management, meaning they then wouldn’t have started verbally attacking us. She normalised this abuse, which then led to us having no choice but to leave the way we did - upset, humiliated, intimidated and scared. No one should ever be subjected to this kind of treatment anywhere.

This isn’t my first time visiting this hotel you pay so much money and expect to have a lovely experience. First the masseuse was so rude to me and was so hard pressing on my back. She has hurt my back. I told her three times please can you be more gentler and she was just so rude, my room was freezing. I asked a member of the staff to come up and fix the heating. They wouldn’t do it. My TV wasn’t working. Someone came up to fix it then sent another person up to try and fix it and it went back off again had an absolutely horrendous experience would not recommend , if you’re going to pay this money you are entitled to enjoy your stay. A YEAR LATER AND STILL WAITING FOR SOME SORT OF COMPENSATION!! Spoke with Ammi at reception about our disaster of a stay. Such poor and uninterested staff, we waited an hour to be served for a drink (I knew what wanted to order) but they insisted on waiter service but just would not come over to us. We ended up heading to the local pubs. The guy was very rude and damaged my brand new pulley hold-all, there was damaged glass exposed which I sliced my finger on. Ammi said she wasn’t aware of this (but then a few minutes later said maintenance had taped it up) so you obviously was aware. The hotel looks pretty and impressive on arrival but that’s it, the pool is unusable unless it’s baking hot outside as the pool is like plungepool temperature. There was remnants left from the previous couple who stayed in our room, which was actually disgusting. Felt very cramped in the restaurant and felt like you were literally in everyone else’s conversation, your elbows are literally inches from the table next door. The rooms are so dark and no where at all for girls to do their makeup, the curtains was also hanging off the wall in our room and it felt very tired. It does not even deserve 1 star, avoid and save your money. I’ve emailed the email address, not hopeful of a response as they have taken a year to even get a reply. Let’s see what happens

We had an amazing stay at the Crazy Bear Beaconsfield. We stayed in 129 Boujee room and the decor lived up to all expectations. Rooms; The room was luxury, spacious with all the amenities you could need for your stay including coffee, tea, luxury robes, bath tub, TV etc. I would point out that there was a very strong smell in the room (difficult to describe but musty/damp kind of smell) which was very unpleasant. We got used to it after an hour or so but don’t think acceptable for the cost of the room. It did also end up making all our clothes smell even when we left the hotel. Service; Staff were pleasant in reception and the lady who checked us in was very friendly. The phone in our room was broken though and so couldn’t call reception if we needed to. Thai restaurant: The Thai restaurant really made the whole experience. Staff were really friendly and food was delicious. Recommend the squid and satay chicken for starters and lovely cocktails. Good ambience and would come back. Other: The only other constructive feedback I would give is I think there should be some kind of “how to” guide or book in the room and/or on the telly. There were a few things unclear and not explained upon check-in. This includes where the main bar was located, pool etc. Also how to control the temperature in the room as it was like a sauna when we entered and took us ages to work out (maybe just us!) but think should be more clear. A general welcome book would help elevate the experience. Overall: Would definitely go back and recommend - it is an experience rather than just a hotel stay.

My boyfriend booked us this hotel for valentines as it was recommended by a friend…what a waste of £735 pounds. Upon arrival we couldn’t find the hotel, couldn’t find parking, there is no signs or anything to guide you to where even a car park is and if its free, and which door is the main door to enter crazy bear. Once we entered our room we were impressed with the decor and then realised there is no windows and if you’re claustrophobic this is not a hotel for you. The mattress had a massive gap between the wall and my pillow kept slipping in it, my partner woke up with a bad back and myself with a stiff neck, fyi the mattress is so heavy you can not lift it yourself to push it back to the wall. The hotel is very overpriced and not cleaned very well either as it had dust everywhere and the room upon arrival was freezing, it takes 5 hours to warm up and then once it’s warmed up you can not breath. The only good thing about our experience was the restaurant experience (Luke) has made our experience in the restaurant very warming, kind and he was very attentive. The food was lovely and we had great cocktails. One last thing if you are attempting to find the bathroom in the main hotel bit good luck. The place honestly is very dark and needs more signs as it’s very difficult to see.

Absolutely awful. The room was so dirty and dusty, we both woke up with sore throats. It obviously had not been cleaned properly for years. The velvet walls and curtains had 20 years of dust embedded in them. There was not even a window that opened to let in fresh air. The air conditioning did not work, just blew cold dusty air out, the room was freezing. Reception gave us a tiny electric heater which did very little to warm a room of that size. The bath was so scratched I wouldn't have bathed my dog in it, for fear of giving it tetanus. Not that you would want to take your clothes off, cause you'd get hypothermia. The room was dark and dingy, the fixtures were old and broken. There was a musty smell in the room also. The food in the English restaurant was mediocre at best and the triple fried chips where pale soggy and cold. Plus the waitress was rude and didn't even offer to take our coats. When my partner put her coat on the back of her seat, she later found it to be covered in dust. I would not stay at this hotel again if you paid me. I understand new owners have acquired it since we stayed in November 24. Hopefully they will close the place while they do a full refurb because the standard was frankly shocking. I'm not sure if all the rooms are as bad as the one we stayed in, hopefully not. The whole experience was a huge disappointment. When my partner emailed the manager, she had no response. Do not stay at this so-called 5* dump!

What a massive disappointment... the rooms are nicely decorated... zero soundproof... you can hear everything next door... in the hallway and the guests upstairs... the service is zero star... staff all congregated in corners chit chatting about what they have been up to... took a waiter half an hour to peel himself away from the gossip to attend to the guests... the food is not very nice at all.... my cocktail was served in a tumbler.... the decor by the pool is very tired and held by duck tape... this place has been extremely overrated and not worth the drive from London or the price tag .. Crazy bear owners need to really have a close look as to why their place is not doing so well... Friday nights there are rowdy... not what I had expected at all... my advice is there are far better places to go and visit.. lastly the management have no idea on how to manage.

i stayed at this hotel for my partners birthday as a lovely treat, given the price i was expecting some kind of luxury special stay as it also advertises to be. However i came away from my stay feeling i’ve wasted my money. i never normally leave reviews however i have emailed the hotel twice and have received no response they do not care. The room i booked was nothing like the picture no velvet or plush walls i was underwhelmed as soon as i was taken to my room. The room felt extremely damp and unclean, the bath was very scuffed and scratched and also just did not feel clean at all, the water only got lukewarm. There were hairs in the bathroom on the floor. The room itself was just really disappointing for the price, it felt very dated and old the curtains looked like something out of a hotel you’d pay £40 a night. We saw there was a pool free to use so we took out swimming stuff and we were also shown to the pool however it’s outside and not heated and was freezing cold. Absolutely not a problem but please do not advertise and show us to the pool knowing no body is going to be getting in the freezing cold water. There was an unexpected service charge when we left and was forced to pay even though i already payed an extra £150 when i arrived plus obviously the costly room itself and no food or anything included, also what service was i paying for?? i couldn’t wait to get home and shower. The parking is also very limited on a high street had to drive around for a while to find a safe space. Overall i feel i had an extremely costly stay and feel as my money has been completely wasted and could have gone somewhere else so much more worth the money. this hotel is the opposite from luxury do not waste your money like i did. Complacency? Incompetent Management? Style over substance? Would these explain how empty the English Restaurant was on Thursday Lunchtime? We were the only people eating. The room was cold - colder than all the other public rooms - and despite complaining, no heat was brought in. The Signature menu of 7 dishes was disappointing and expensive - style without flavour (the worst two were a dish of pasta in an oily tasteless sauce, and a dish of squidgy tasteless mushrooms) and offering a set dish of beef tartare (raw beef with spices and raw egg yolk) is bizarre when few people eat raw meat and the only alternative offered is a plate of pickled beetroot? No wonder the restaurant was empty on a Thursday lunchtime between 12noon and when we left. Sorry but for that price too many better options are available, including Brasserie Blanc further down the street. Management need to get their act together. (PS: The gents toilet design is also bizarre - mirrored urinals in an almost black room!) Two stars for the old building and the staff trying hard to cope.

We waited and waited for about 1 hour, but the room was still freezing cold,I called the reception, someone went up straight away but couldn't do anything about that, she called someone else, also he couldn't do anything apart from telling us to run the hot water from the sink and bath as it would help with the cold. I went downstairs and asked them to book another hotel or get another bedroom. Well, they did get me another bedroom,a not nice bedroom. Dinner at the English restaurant isn't the best. Edit: So you respond to say forward the email to you but then there is no follow up or acknowledgement of the email. Pathetic customer service. I sent an email directly to Crazy Bear a month ago to address my concerns but clearly they do not care about their customers as they have not even acknowledged the email. The total experience including the booking service was extremely poor. We had booked dinner at the Thai restaurant however was told the latest time at the weekend for the tasting menu to book was 5 pm, which is ridiculous for dinner! We had to make contact several times to speak to someone about this, with no return call as promised and when we did eventually speak to the booking manager Roxana Alexandru on 3rd December, however she refused to try and help with our request for a later booking on that day. We had members of the party coming from various areas to meet up and also the fact that this was a special occasion did not even matter. During the time at the restaurant it was not even busy, so I am sure you could have accommodated a later time. We were also astounded that a dietary requirement was not accommodated. One of the party was Muslim and as the menu came with pork ribs he was unable to eat these due to religious reasons, however you refused to change his portion of the ribs and the pork loin to a vegetarian or fish option, or a complete vegetarian menu, which is totally unacceptable. To be unwilling to make a simple adaptation for cultural diets shows you are not staying relevant to today’s dining environment, unlike most restaurants. To say you are offering a ‘Signature Tasting’ would indicate at any restaurant a special dining and culinary experience, it was far from that. It is also shocking that you feel you could charge 20% service for underwhelming and inflexible service certainly not meeting Customer Satisfaction.

When we first entered the room, we noticed that there was quite a lot of dust around, we decided to notify members of staff that the room is dirty and requires cleaning specifically in case he shower when we went out to eat, and upon returning there was only a small amount of water on the shower floor but they clearly didn’t attempt to clean it properly. The sink was also clogged up, there were also spider webs all over the ceilings. The mirror on the ceiling looked as though it had never been cleaned before in its life. We will definitely not be returning again, we had stayed there last year and the room wasn’t too bad, it seems as though the hotel has gotten worse over time. Not worth its value at this stage.

We visited for a 12 plate lunch deal using a Virgin Experience voucher with a value of £79.00. The food was great (we do eat Thai food in many places and this was very good) They do need to put a sign inside the front door. You walk through the front door into a small bar area with absolutley no one around and have no idea what the procedure is?? (You actually have to go up the stairs but their is no way of knowing this) Drinks prices as you's expect - Bottle peroni £6, Cheapest bottle of white wine (nice though) £35, Glass of white wine £8, extra prawn crackers £5. All as you would expect. The big downside here is that they decide to put a 13.5% service charge on the whole bill, including the vaule of your voucher!! very cleverly done in order to extract an extra servcie charge form you - please see the receipt attached to see how they do this. Very sneaky and off course puts the customer in an embarrassing situation if you chose not to pay it. Would I go again? Yes, I would do the voucher thing again as the food and service were both good. However, I wouldn't pay the service charge - I'd take a tenner with me in cash and leave that in the hope that the staff actually get it. Doesn't seem quite cricket to whack a service charge on at the top of the bill, this should have been deducted at the bottom as a deposit already paid.

This place really is one you have to experience if you are into quirky styling and decor. The interior is beautifully crafted from quality materials and is a real masterpiece. Then there is the food which is exquisite. I would definitely recommend using the advice of the in-house sommelier for your wine choices, he really does know his craft and for me gave the perfect choice of wines for the courses I had chosen. Finally the staff are exceptional, balancing professionalism, care and fun together in the most wonderful way and have the ability to make you feel very special indeed. Our evening out with friends was a real delight at the Crazy Bear and we will be returning real soon. My review does not give any stars for the rooms as we did not stay at the hotel however I have heard that they are superb.

We have been going to the crazy bear for twenty years. Last night was date night with the wife and I have to say worst meal ever. Service was awful, and as far as the food, well I can honestly say my twelve year old could have done a better job. I enjoyed for starter rubber bands , and we shared a château shoe sole, once cooked potatoes and raw 🥦 with nuts, oh and a sauce that I could not describe. PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Visited last night for drinks and cigars. The waitresses were lovely, unfortunately what let it down is who I'd assume was a manager walking past twice looking at the table seeing we had cigars but staring, then got a young female waiter to come over to a table of men to ask if we were smoking them inside. Firstly you have to be completely nose blind to not smell cigars if they are lit, secondly you may aswell say we look stupid to light cigars inside and thirdly, ask yourself don't send a young woman over to ask. This was our second round of cigars so clearly the first had been smoked outside. If you have a question to ask, ask it or mention "guys smoking area is just out there, I have to tell everyone who orders", don't send a young woman over to tables of men, that's absolutely embarrassing for the guy who looked over. Fortunately as I was driving it was so easy to spot who wanted to ask but didn't. When outside we were asked to change where we were smoking which was absolutely fine and the guy who came out was incredibly polite and professional. We are professional people spending decent amounts and not nursing a single drink for hours. Have enough respect to communicate efficiently and not behave like a little snake. Embarrassing

We were given a voucher for the tasting menu with champagne. I don’t eat meat but my partner does but we both had to have the same so I ended up having to order 2 additional veg dishes so my partner could have the meat dishes. All the waitress could do was shrug and say it’s in the terms and conditions. She then went to the kitchen and came back shortly afterwards to say that they were prepared to serve the prawns separately to the pad Thai which we were grateful for. My additional veg spring rolls arrived but the veg tempura never arrived. We both felt that the food was mediocre at best and my champagne was flat. We were charged £8 for the spring rolls and £21 as a service charge considering we had a voucher we felt this was pretty ridiculous. I used to enjoy the crazy bear but the last couple of visits have been really disappointing I feel like the customer service is zero and I will not be returning.

We had a fabulous experience at the Crazy Bear Thai restaurant last night. The food and the service given was exemplary and we would definitely go back. There was one thing that marred the visit there is a 13.5% discretionary “service charge “ added to your bill (which by the way includes the cost of any vouchers you may have been given to use there). Whilst I have no problem paying this when the service is excellent and I will often give more, the problem with this particular service charge is that astonishingly it does not go to those serving you. The service charge goes to the hotel. The staff do not get it. This I find shocking and appalling and a misrepresentation of what a service charge is. I asked them to remove it as I felt this was completely unfair to have menu prices and then add to this at the end of the meal.. …Crazy Bear please justify this “service charge”. The other no-no for me was that the Crazy Bear is a cashless business. When will businesses realise that we cannot rely on technology and having no cash. What would you do if tech went down and we were unable to pay electronically, could we all have a free meal? I doubt it, please reconsider this. We will be back but again will not pay the “service charge” until this goes to your hard working and very efficient staff, without which you would not have a business!

Extremely unpleasant experience celebrating a special birthday at the Crazy bear Thai restaurant last night. No one to greet us upon arriving, waited 10 minutes and we had to approach kitchen staff to make waitresses aware. Unwelcoming greeting and shown to table that was falling apart which they tried to prop up unsuccessfully. They then reluctantly pushed a few tables messily together whilst we were waiting. The head waitress/host was very cold and condescending. At this stage we would have walked out had they not taken a deposit per head! We were then told we could not have the al a carte menu as we were a large group of 7, not ideal when we had 3 vegetarians and 2 children in our group. The food was average, loaded with sugar and not authentic Thai cuisine. Gratuity amount was ridiculous given service received. Ultimately we found the restaurant pretentious, unfriendly and overpriced.

I have to confess that reading the mass of bad reviews about this venue had led to a little apprehension when our daughter booked this place as an anniversary gift. But in the end all was fine. Not that the place is perfect but it rather depends on who you are and almost certainly how old you are or feel. We had a Cosy Room which was not in the main hotel but across a dual carriageway. This was undertaken in pouring rain so not a perfect start. Yes the Cosy Room is small and weirdly the bathroom doesn't have a door but a heavy curtain. However this was fine, the shower good and the towels big and fluffy. The room has no tea or coffee facility so if you wanted one you have to pay and they would deliver to your room. Did I mention the dual carriageway and rain between us and it? Food wise we ate in the English restaurant and the food was good but it's very expensive. They also have a very strange system in their bar which means you have to pay every time you order a drink, you can't charge to your room. Why? In the end Crazy Bear is aimed at the under 30s and wants to attract, according to our waitress, the influencers, whatever they are but I'm pretty sure it's not a man in his 70's. To be fair we were treated very well, perhaps we were a novelty and they were just curious. As an aside Beaconsfield is quite splendid with a lot of choice food wise. Have fun.

Visited today for afternoon tea and left feeling rather dissapointed. We were sat for an hour waiting for the food to arrive only to have to go and find a waitress ourselves to take the order. Eventually the food arrived but the tea didn’t arrive which again we had to go and ask for. This wasn’t served until we were on our final plate of cakes. Tea eventually arrived and the reason it was late being “they didn’t have enough teapots”. Very poor indeed. No cups for the tea which again we had to go and ask for. Very overrated and definately not worth the additional service charge when we practically served ourselves. I can definitely think of better places to go for afternoon tea and won’t be returning! Not worth the money at all. Rather dark and tacky decor.

Do not book Thai massage!!! First time staying at this hotel. I mean it is an amazing hotel and everything about it is unique. The pool and lounge areas made you feel like youre in the middle east. The staff are very polite, friendly and very attentive. They even upgraded our room. The reason for my review is for the thai massage. My wife booked a massage using a voucher service for a discounted rate. This back fired on me instantly. When i got to the room i tried to be polite and asked what part of thailand shes from but no answer. From there she asked me how hard i like my massage and i replied firm. She went full power on me from there that after 10 mins i said not so hard but she ignored me and continued. It was almost unbearable but i didnt stop her as i didnt want my wife to think i was being ungrateful as it was for my birthday. Throughout the massage she yanked my shoulders a few time which felt angry. She also muttered to herself in thai three separate times. I think she was annoyed that it was a voucher booking. I mean she was just angry. I would never recommend anyone book that massage. The rudeness was nothing ive ever experienced. She doesnt deserve to be in that establishment and its enough to bring the whole thing down. She is the reason for the one star. I hope that someone sees this and looks into it as it almost feel like physical abuse. A potential court case waiting to happen. It such a shame because the hotel and staff were so amazing.

Overall, this place is fantastic, but a few minor issues slightly detract from the experience. The pool, room, staff, and food, as you can see from my photos, are outstanding and truly deserve 5 stars. However, where it starts to fall short is with the service charge they automatically add to everything. While I know you don't have to pay it, we politely asked them to remove it when bringing our food and drinks because we felt it was excessive. The location is quite upscale, which is probably why they think they can impose these charges. However, I believe it would be better to include these costs in the final price rather than putting pressure on customers to pay extra. Ensuring all staff are paid above-average wages would cover these costs and create a more relaxed experience for guests. I highly recommend visiting this place as you will have a great time. If money is a bit tight, use websites like Wowcher and other deal sites to find offers. Paying full price for everything might not be worth it, but with the deals we found, it certainly was. Thank you so much to the staff, and we look forward to returning when more deals become available.

What a fantastic experience visiting the crazy bear in Beaconsfield! It certainly was special, the staff were very attentive and always on hand if you needed anything. We stayed in room 3, which was fabulous and part of the main house. The toilets in the hotel are very boujee! Loved them. Visited the thai restaurant for evening meal and was not disappointed. The food was absolutely delicious. Staff again very nice. Made use of the pool (even in the rain) 😆 free glass of complimentary champagne upon arrival! Although it is very expensive £45 for 2 expresso martinis, it is certainly an experience I will never forget. I would certainly return! Also look on wowcher for deals when booking as they always have offers on (we booked the room, £80 meal voucher which we used at the thai restaurant, and a bottle of house wine was included with the meal). It was still pricey but worth it. Would highly recommend and plan to return in the future.

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. We had our first night's dinner here. I agree with some of the comments about decor. It doesn't really follow the theme of the CB hotel and the restaurant itself is very plain and not particularly special like the English restaurant and rest of hotel. We had already booked this when we spotted the voucher on groupon. The voucher says 12 plate signature menu. On tbr website you can see a 12 plate menu. These are not the same. The Groupon one is no where near as good. We mentioned the voucher. We were asked EXTREMELY LOUDLY by 3 different waitresses. We need the code. Show me the voucher. My partner had sent the voucher ahead and had even provided photo ID requested by the restaurant so we could be personally greeted. This did not happen so that was a waste of time. We decided not to use the voucher (Groupon refunded) and went for the 12 plate menu advertised. The first 4 courses are like starters so came at once and we're quite small. This was fine. Slightly disappointed in the size. They then brought 6 large plates plus our eating plates at once to our tiny table. Ridiculous. The food was nice. The service just felt like the staff were untrained in how to work at a restaurant at this price point. Overly loud, disorganised and not really focussed on giving customers a good experience. Not awful food but just not worth the money we paid. £65 for food plus drinks so the total bill was over £200 for 2 people.

I went to the Crazy Bear Hotel to experience the Halloween Vampire Ball. When I arrived, you checked in, and the check-in desk is a double-decker bus! This establishment is an instagramers dream, full of quirky furniture and crazy decor! We booked a suite with a garden, the decor was amazing with a bath at the bottom of the bed which was lots of fun. My partner did notice it needed some renovation to the room, which considering the price you paid was slightly disappointing. The venue outside was beautiful. we were lucky, considering it was October, the sun was out, and it was really mild. So we got to walk around the grounds, which are stunning plenty of places to sit and have a drink it was a really good vibe. I can imagine it's brilliant in summer! The actual event, the entertainment, was amazing combined of different acts, from singing to acrobatics to a lady with a snake! It wasn't just one long act either, which I'm glad it was broken up with a dj or singer coming on and everyone hitting the dance floor! At the beginning of the act is when food is served, which is a buffet, which was really disappointing. The food was not great and not what I expected. Everybody dressed to impress people really make an effort with their costumes, which, for me, a Halloween Queen I absolutely loved!! The next day, you do get breakfast in with your room however it is only a section of the bar which has croissants and I think maybe cereal none of which appealed to me after a heavy night's dancing and drinking! There was the option to pay for a full english breakfast, which we did. The breakfast was really nice, not greasy, decent meat used however they did cost around £25 each and we had to pay for a side order of beans which when you pay £50 for two breakfast I feel beans should have been provided ha. It was a fantastic experience, and if not for the poor food at the event and the room not being to the highest standard, I would have rated a 5* however I feel how much money you spend in all everything should be high spec to get the 5*.

DO NOT GET THE 12 PLATE SIGNATURE GROUPON OFFER! We decided to go for the Groupon £39.95 12 plate dinner at the Thai restaurant for my birthday, originally priced at £92. Venue At the main Crazy Bear reception, we were informed that the Thai restaurant was further up the road in a completely different building. As we were there, we decided to stop for a cocktail at the bar, paying £16 each for a belini, which was very fruit heavy. The bar area itself was smart and sophisticated and we expected the restaurant to be the same. How wrong we were! The restaurant was very ordinary and dark, nothing like the Crazy Bear reception area. Menu Had issues with our vouchers because of miscommunication with reservations. After much confusion and delay we were shown the signature menu valued at £67, not £92. When questioned, I was told that it was Groupon’s prices and this was the correct 12 plate signature dish. It was difficult to tell which plates were which as we expected the plates to come separately and one of us was vegetarian. We were looking forward to a delicious meal but got food that was under par, from the bland edamame to the overcooked ribs. Not a chicken dish in sight! Was told it’s not on the signature menu. We were totally porked out! Dessert was a scoop of ice cream with some sweet coconut rice. Quite underwhelming but actually one of the better things we tasted that night! We could just about find the toilets in the dark corridor, which were also really dark inside. Why?!! Bar After the meal we returned to the bar area but there was no atmosphere and we left. Conclusion We will NOT be returning to this place. We paid £40 for a lack-lustre meal and £90 on taxis to get there. The place is totally hyped up! We were expecting a sophisticated, glamorous experience and’s were totally disappointed. Avoid this Groupon offer!

A friend of ours knew that we had never been to Crazy Bear so gifted us a ‘signature’ lunch for Two with a free glass of champagne each. It was an Anniversary present through Wowcher and we were excited to try the place out for the first time. The venue was the Crazy Bear ‘Thai’ in Beaconsfield. We parked up easily and walked into the main entrance of what turned out to be the English cuisine version of Crazy bear, we were blown away by the decor and a little disappointed when we were told that this wasn’t for us and were politely directed 50 metres down the road. We expected much of the same, but what a contrast! the entrance downstairs is a scruffy bar area at the foot of some stairs and it was completely unattended. We didn’t know where we were supposed to go and it was at least 5 minutes before someone stuck their head round a corner and told us to head upstairs. By comparison the Crazy Bear ‘Thai’ restaurant is nothing special to look at and is not representative of the lovely website images. A bit of velvet on the walls and dark lighting doesn’t automatically equal luxury and decadence! The service was good, all the staff were very smart, polite and courteous. Beyond that, the food was only OK, not great. A couple of good dishes, but otherwise rather bland and not at all generous in portion size for sharing plates (see pictures). Now here’s my personal complaint and it is more one of principles rather than quality or service. This meal was a gratefully received gift. We expected to enjoy a great meal in the surroundings shown on the website, then to pay for our additional drinks and a nice tip to our server. Instead we got none of the luxury, received a £16 Cocktail that was 70% ice and a tiny soft drink from a mixer sized bottle for £4.50. This is unnecessary profiteering. The 13.5% gratuity was also calculated against an over inflated (pre-discounted) bill of £204. That’s 2x Signature menus at £67 each plus two ‘free’ glass of bubbly at £50. Plus £20 for a tiny cocktail and an even smaller lemonade. All in a £25 gratuity for a very unimpressive lunch. I’m not tight and have no problem paying the tip, but I would have had a real issue with paying £229 in total for that meal. Thank goodness for Wowcher! We had a much better lunch recently at The IVY Asia in Guildford. The food was top notch, the decor and ambience were fantastic and the bill was half the price and felt like great value for money. Just my opinion, but be warned and prepared for disappointment.

In all honesty we were quite underwhelmed by our visit. Firstly, it was particularly difficult to make our reservation when we would call and get no answer from the Stadhampton hotel on various days. When they finally replied to my email, we were told there was no availability and had to instead book at the Beaconsfield hotel but on alternative dates. On arrival, there was no signage displayed on the exterior of the property to confirm we had the right place. The only giveaway was the large bear outside with a chain around it's neck. We were also unable to get parked and had to park a good 5/10 minute walk away which was not ideal. When we were allocated our room, it was not quite what we expected. We were given room No1 and given the price we paid and the photos on your website, it did come over quite tacky and seedy in all honesty. Like most things the pictures look sooooo much better than the real thing, even my phone pictures make it look nicer. As soon as you walked in the room you was met with an overwhelming unpleasant smell in the room which I can only imagine was the smell of leather (I hope it was leather 🙈) given the amount of it on the walls, ceiling and floors. We were disappointed not to have tea/coffee available in the room after a tiring journey. The sloped floors were also quite uncomfortable moving around the room particularly in socks. We were disappointed that no bubble bath or shower gel were supplied only shampoo and conditioner. This was unexpected given the huge bath in the room. It was also difficult to utilise devices with only one plug socket by the bed, my wife using the hairdryer, hair straighteners was a challenge when no plug by a mirror. The blinds where also broken and curtains were very dusty. We also had to listen to the thumping music from downstairs until 1230am, it was so loud I thought there could of been a DJ set in the room! As for the English restaurant, it was pleasantly decorated and staff were friendly but drinks were very expensive. We were also not particularly impressed with the 13.75% service charge added to our bill which included the prepaid portion of our bill!! While we were eating our meal, we were also approached by another diner advising that she was appalled by the additional charges added to her bill without being advised before her meal. She was warning other guests etc. She was asked to vacate the premises by the staff but in fairness I can understand her frustration. During breakfast we had a very long wait for service (35mins) and feel that a buffet for the continental breakfast would be much easier for guests and staff. Staff seemed rushed off their feet and very overwhelmed. We had to repeatedly ask for coffee and milk and did not receive all the items we ordered. (I only ordered pastries and toast and the toast didn't come) We didn't make a fuss as I couldn't be bothered to wait even longer and was quite keen to just check out to be honest and make our way home. This was probably also due to hearing a member of staff having a meltdown in the kitchen after feeling disrespected by another member of staff. We heard swearing and shouting and she seemed to feel very mistreated by her colleague. I don't blame her as most of the breakfast team seemed very busy and were receiving repeated complaints left & right from customers about service etc. So overall as I say we didn't have the best experience given we do not get much opportunity to have a night out together without the children. Would I go again.... No Would I go again if it was free... No Don't get caught up in the hype, spend your hard earned money somewhere else.

My wife got me the Virgin Experience Crazy Bear Twelve Plate Signature Sharing Menu with Champagne for Two for our wedding anniversary. We've been to the Crazy Bear a few times before, in fact, I had proposed there so we were really looking forward to the experience. Having said that, we had never been to the Thai restaurant....and we will never go again. We arrived at the Crazy Bear and went into the reception only to be told that the Thai Restaurant is not in the Crazy Bear itself but you have to go back out on the street, walk down the road, and it's past a few doors on the right hand side!? So, we duly went out of the Crazy Bear, over the cobbled path, walked down the street past the newsagents and into a dark brown doorway. We were greeted and shown to our table upstairs. Now the Crazy Bear is memorable for it's décor which is unusual, bold and eclectic; the Thai Restaurant is plain vanilla by comparison. No matter, it has a nice open plan huge vaulted ceiling with some very impressive sympathetic restoration to the massive beams. The complimentary champagne arrived and we looked forward to a memorable wedding anniversary experience. In fact, when I booked on line, one of the tick-boxes asked if there was a special occasion and I duly ticked the "Wedding Anniversary" box. Also, when I was called to confirm my reservation, I also mentioned on the phone it was our wedding anniversary. Not sure why I bothered now as there were no comments when we arrived or throughout the evening from any of the staff? Perhaps it's so they can spam me next year? We'll wait and see but if they do, they may not like my response. Back to the complimentary champagne......it was warm. Not a great start. Unfortunately, we had to send it back and we finally got our cold champagne. Surely not too much to ask for is it? We had never had a 12 course meal before but looking on the web, the examples we saw were 12 individual "courses" with perhaps a sorbet in between some of the courses to cleanse the palate. What we didn't expect was a small bowl of seaweed or a plate of spicy crackers to be called a "course". We also didn't expect several of these so called "courses" to be served at the same time and sometimes even on the same dish. It is as if each side dish, and even the complimentary crackers that you might get in other restaurants, was referred to as a "course". The pork ribs were tough and chewy and almost impossible to swallow. We've had better meat-falling-off-the-bone, melt-in-the-mouth ribs from a packet in the local supermarket. The sashimi were mere slithers, wafer thin. On to the service, we asked what one of the garnishes were on the sashimi but our waitress didn't know and she said that she would find out for us but she never did. We later asked for a finger bowl with some lemon to clean our fingers but that never appeared either. Looking around we noticed as another couple arrived, as the lady sat down to make herself comfortable, she took a few moments to take the strap of her shoulder-bag carefully over her head and place the bag beside her. The waitress seemed oblivious to this and had been standing there from the moment the lady sat down waving a menu under her nose urging her to take it when clearly she wasn't ready to receive it. This may seem to be nit picking but it's an example of feeling rushed and hurried. We were politely reminded 20 mins before our allocated time-slot was over that we needed to finish so that our table could be ready for the next Customers. Regarding the ambiance, the lighting was too dark and the music too loud. Sorry, but suggest you go elsewhere for a your anniversary meal.

We had a 12 course signature Thai meal from Virgin experience days ay the Crazy bear Thai restaurant. Probably the worst iv had in a long time. Duck and crispy pork was dry AF. Only best thing there was the shrimp crackers

We went for a 7 course tasting menu including Champagne, a deal on Groupon and I would say great value for money, lovely vibe, decor, atmosphere (Friday night, DJ but not too loud in the restaurant), incredible foot. Highly recommend. Will be returning

Check in is from 4pm which is far too late to then enjoy the pool facility, as it's only open for use in daylight hours. (no lighting or lifeguard?) and you'll literally need to walk across a zebra crossing in your bath robe in winter (are you mad?) Room (Suite) was across the road also, & definitely style over substance. Blinds with curtains that you can't draw closed, as they are just screwed in place for aesthetic purposes only. Room climate control was not getting hot enough & was pretty noisy thus keeping me awake. Bathroom had a sharp (chest height) tile corner that would cause serious injury if you slipped on the wet tiled floor. Rising tv at the foot of the bed was slow to rise/close & hindered my feet when in the closed position. The layout of the room made the room feel dark & cramped as it's separated in to two sections, rather than a big open room which would be much better. The service in the restaurant was fine, but the food was SERIOUSLY lacking & we sent back THREE dishes. Two other guests complained also about food quality & temperature. We literally had to get refunded on the food for dinner, & because of this we decided to skip breakfast & check out. For approx £350 a night we would not recommend this hotel. We were not even compensated for our experience, which just sums up this hotel I guess.

Interesting restaurant - went for a birthday meal. The place looks more like a messy mix between a nightclub / private club / dodgy looking boudoir than a restuarant. Decor was a little too garish for me, but I can see how it may appeal to others. Parking was awful/extremely limited. Staff were engaged, very polite and for me probably the only positive aspect. But we did not go there to engage with the staff, we went for the signature menu with circa 7 courses which sounded appealing. The food was very much a disappointment though....almost all of it. The beef was especially dry, overdone and dripping in sauce perhaps to hide the issues. Neither of us could even eat it....took a few bites and had to stop. Everything else on the menu was below par. The only part of the meal that was partially decent was the mid course sorbet. Drinks/cocktails was mainly ice, overtly diluted and massively over-priced. I really expected a much higher food quality. ;(. The x2 heavies at the door was unexpected ..... Probably close to our worst dinning experience ever....more irritating when you factor in the price. We will not return.

Unable to dine there as we were double booked… 37 weeks pregnant, had travelled for 40 minutes. We learnt our table needed to be returned in 1hr15. No attempts to take our food or drink order in first 30 mins. Staff told us “it was not their fault” and that they could not delay the subsequent booking in case they complained! We left and had a delicious meal at Giggling Squid at half the price!! Have not witnessed such appalling customer service in my life. It was also pitch black and filthy inside with sticky menu cards and dirty seats.
