I have booked a voucher as a present still not received over 2 weeks later. I have called over 6 times left voice messages and emailed, still no reply. Absolutely appalling so disappointed as when I have been 4 times previously really great service? What has changed that a phone call or email cannot be replied too?

Very nice and food was decent. However the increase of service charge is a joke and paying via qr code and 20% is automatically added which is cheeky at best.

We booked for my mums 70th birthday. Service was terrible, we ordered a bottle of champagne which was not cold, i asked them to take it away! They didn’t think it would be cold enough for us to drink before we left so i told them how to chill it quickly! Coffee was cold! We were told we would be charged a fee for cutting our own cake! They only accept card payment and we had cash…. The food was nice just everything else let it down! Disappointing! I won’t be returning.

We had a fabulous experience at the Crazy Bear Thai restaurant last night. The food and the service given was exemplary and we would definitely go back. There was one thing that marred the visit there is a 13.5% discretionary “service charge “ added to your bill (which by the way includes the cost of any vouchers you may have been given to use there). Whilst I have no problem paying this when the service is excellent and I will often give more, the problem with this particular service charge is that astonishingly it does not go to those serving you. The service charge goes to the hotel. The staff do not get it. This I find shocking and appalling and a misrepresentation of what a service charge is. I asked them to remove it as I felt this was completely unfair to have menu prices and then add to this at the end of the meal.. …Crazy Bear please justify this “service charge”. The other no-no for me was that the Crazy Bear is a cashless business. When will businesses realise that we cannot rely on technology and having no cash. What would you do if tech went down and we were unable to pay electronically, could we all have a free meal? I doubt it, please reconsider this. We will be back but again will not pay the “service charge” until this goes to your hard working and very efficient staff, without which you would not have a business!

Extremely unpleasant experience celebrating a special birthday at the Crazy bear Thai restaurant last night. No one to greet us upon arriving, waited 10 minutes and we had to approach kitchen staff to make waitresses aware. Unwelcoming greeting and shown to table that was falling apart which they tried to prop up unsuccessfully. They then reluctantly pushed a few tables messily together whilst we were waiting. The head waitress/host was very cold and condescending. At this stage we would have walked out had they not taken a deposit per head! We were then told we could not have the al a carte menu as we were a large group of 7, not ideal when we had 3 vegetarians and 2 children in our group. The food was average, loaded with sugar and not authentic Thai cuisine. Gratuity amount was ridiculous given service received. Ultimately we found the restaurant pretentious, unfriendly and overpriced.

Amazing from start to finish. We went to the main restaurant first for drinks, which we then took along to the Thai restaurant. Staff were attentive, but not pushy. The setting in both the main bae and the Thai restaurant was amazing. Decadent, but fabulous. The food was lovely, not dry as others have described. The whe evening was great, I would definitely recommend going, the place is an experience in itself. Didn't disappoint.

I have to confess that reading the mass of bad reviews about this venue had led to a little apprehension when our daughter booked this place as an anniversary gift. But in the end all was fine. Not that the place is perfect but it rather depends on who you are and almost certainly how old you are or feel. We had a Cosy Room which was not in the main hotel but across a dual carriageway. This was undertaken in pouring rain so not a perfect start. Yes the Cosy Room is small and weirdly the bathroom doesn't have a door but a heavy curtain. However this was fine, the shower good and the towels big and fluffy. The room has no tea or coffee facility so if you wanted one you have to pay and they would deliver to your room. Did I mention the dual carriageway and rain between us and it? Food wise we ate in the English restaurant and the food was good but it's very expensive. They also have a very strange system in their bar which means you have to pay every time you order a drink, you can't charge to your room. Why? In the end Crazy Bear is aimed at the under 30s and wants to attract, according to our waitress, the influencers, whatever they are but I'm pretty sure it's not a man in his 70's. To be fair we were treated very well, perhaps we were a novelty and they were just curious. As an aside Beaconsfield is quite splendid with a lot of choice food wise. Have fun.

Visited today for afternoon tea and left feeling rather dissapointed. We were sat for an hour waiting for the food to arrive only to have to go and find a waitress ourselves to take the order. Eventually the food arrived but the tea didn’t arrive which again we had to go and ask for. This wasn’t served until we were on our final plate of cakes. Tea eventually arrived and the reason it was late being “they didn’t have enough teapots”. Very poor indeed. No cups for the tea which again we had to go and ask for. Very overrated and definately not worth the additional service charge when we practically served ourselves. I can definitely think of better places to go for afternoon tea and won’t be returning! Not worth the money at all. Rather dark and tacky decor.

After reading previous negative reviews we were worried about our booked stay, however we had such a great time. On check in we were upgraded complimentary and shown straight to our room which had great amenities, a lovely big bath and a great waterfall shower. We relaxed around the pool in the afternoon and wondered around the town in the evening. The next day we booked in for a Thai massage which was a great massage and perfect finish to our trip.

Overall, this place is fantastic, but a few minor issues slightly detract from the experience. The pool, room, staff, and food, as you can see from my photos, are outstanding and truly deserve 5 stars. However, where it starts to fall short is with the service charge they automatically add to everything. While I know you don't have to pay it, we politely asked them to remove it when bringing our food and drinks because we felt it was excessive. The location is quite upscale, which is probably why they think they can impose these charges. However, I believe it would be better to include these costs in the final price rather than putting pressure on customers to pay extra. Ensuring all staff are paid above-average wages would cover these costs and create a more relaxed experience for guests. I highly recommend visiting this place as you will have a great time. If money is a bit tight, use websites like Wowcher and other deal sites to find offers. Paying full price for everything might not be worth it, but with the deals we found, it certainly was. Thank you so much to the staff, and we look forward to returning when more deals become available.

Do not book Thai massage!!! First time staying at this hotel. I mean it is an amazing hotel and everything about it is unique. The pool and lounge areas made you feel like youre in the middle east. The staff are very polite, friendly and very attentive. They even upgraded our room. The reason for my review is for the thai massage. My wife booked a massage using a voucher service for a discounted rate. This back fired on me instantly. When i got to the room i tried to be polite and asked what part of thailand shes from but no answer. From there she asked me how hard i like my massage and i replied firm. She went full power on me from there that after 10 mins i said not so hard but she ignored me and continued. It was almost unbearable but i didnt stop her as i didnt want my wife to think i was being ungrateful as it was for my birthday. Throughout the massage she yanked my shoulders a few time which felt angry. She also muttered to herself in thai three separate times. I think she was annoyed that it was a voucher booking. I mean she was just angry. I would never recommend anyone book that massage. The rudeness was nothing ive ever experienced. She doesnt deserve to be in that establishment and its enough to bring the whole thing down. She is the reason for the one star. I hope that someone sees this and looks into it as it almost feel like physical abuse. A potential court case waiting to happen. It such a shame because the hotel and staff were so amazing.

What a fantastic experience visiting the crazy bear in Beaconsfield! It certainly was special, the staff were very attentive and always on hand if you needed anything. We stayed in room 3, which was fabulous and part of the main house. The toilets in the hotel are very boujee! Loved them. Visited the thai restaurant for evening meal and was not disappointed. The food was absolutely delicious. Staff again very nice. Made use of the pool (even in the rain) 😆 free glass of complimentary champagne upon arrival! Although it is very expensive £45 for 2 expresso martinis, it is certainly an experience I will never forget. I would certainly return! Also look on wowcher for deals when booking as they always have offers on (we booked the room, £80 meal voucher which we used at the thai restaurant, and a bottle of house wine was included with the meal). It was still pricey but worth it. Would highly recommend and plan to return in the future.

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. We had our first night's dinner here. I agree with some of the comments about decor. It doesn't really follow the theme of the CB hotel and the restaurant itself is very plain and not particularly special like the English restaurant and rest of hotel. We had already booked this when we spotted the voucher on groupon. The voucher says 12 plate signature menu. On tbr website you can see a 12 plate menu. These are not the same. The Groupon one is no where near as good. We mentioned the voucher. We were asked EXTREMELY LOUDLY by 3 different waitresses. We need the code. Show me the voucher. My partner had sent the voucher ahead and had even provided photo ID requested by the restaurant so we could be personally greeted. This did not happen so that was a waste of time. We decided not to use the voucher (Groupon refunded) and went for the 12 plate menu advertised. The first 4 courses are like starters so came at once and we're quite small. This was fine. Slightly disappointed in the size. They then brought 6 large plates plus our eating plates at once to our tiny table. Ridiculous. The food was nice. The service just felt like the staff were untrained in how to work at a restaurant at this price point. Overly loud, disorganised and not really focussed on giving customers a good experience. Not awful food but just not worth the money we paid. £65 for food plus drinks so the total bill was over £200 for 2 people.

I went to the Crazy Bear Hotel to experience the Halloween Vampire Ball. When I arrived, you checked in, and the check-in desk is a double-decker bus! This establishment is an instagramers dream, full of quirky furniture and crazy decor! We booked a suite with a garden, the decor was amazing with a bath at the bottom of the bed which was lots of fun. My partner did notice it needed some renovation to the room, which considering the price you paid was slightly disappointing. The venue outside was beautiful. we were lucky, considering it was October, the sun was out, and it was really mild. So we got to walk around the grounds, which are stunning plenty of places to sit and have a drink it was a really good vibe. I can imagine it's brilliant in summer! The actual event, the entertainment, was amazing combined of different acts, from singing to acrobatics to a lady with a snake! It wasn't just one long act either, which I'm glad it was broken up with a dj or singer coming on and everyone hitting the dance floor! At the beginning of the act is when food is served, which is a buffet, which was really disappointing. The food was not great and not what I expected. Everybody dressed to impress people really make an effort with their costumes, which, for me, a Halloween Queen I absolutely loved!! The next day, you do get breakfast in with your room however it is only a section of the bar which has croissants and I think maybe cereal none of which appealed to me after a heavy night's dancing and drinking! There was the option to pay for a full english breakfast, which we did. The breakfast was really nice, not greasy, decent meat used however they did cost around £25 each and we had to pay for a side order of beans which when you pay £50 for two breakfast I feel beans should have been provided ha. It was a fantastic experience, and if not for the poor food at the event and the room not being to the highest standard, I would have rated a 5* however I feel how much money you spend in all everything should be high spec to get the 5*.

DO NOT GET THE 12 PLATE SIGNATURE GROUPON OFFER! We decided to go for the Groupon £39.95 12 plate dinner at the Thai restaurant for my birthday, originally priced at £92. Venue At the main Crazy Bear reception, we were informed that the Thai restaurant was further up the road in a completely different building. As we were there, we decided to stop for a cocktail at the bar, paying £16 each for a belini, which was very fruit heavy. The bar area itself was smart and sophisticated and we expected the restaurant to be the same. How wrong we were! The restaurant was very ordinary and dark, nothing like the Crazy Bear reception area. Menu Had issues with our vouchers because of miscommunication with reservations. After much confusion and delay we were shown the signature menu valued at £67, not £92. When questioned, I was told that it was Groupon’s prices and this was the correct 12 plate signature dish. It was difficult to tell which plates were which as we expected the plates to come separately and one of us was vegetarian. We were looking forward to a delicious meal but got food that was under par, from the bland edamame to the overcooked ribs. Not a chicken dish in sight! Was told it’s not on the signature menu. We were totally porked out! Dessert was a scoop of ice cream with some sweet coconut rice. Quite underwhelming but actually one of the better things we tasted that night! We could just about find the toilets in the dark corridor, which were also really dark inside. Why?!! Bar After the meal we returned to the bar area but there was no atmosphere and we left. Conclusion We will NOT be returning to this place. We paid £40 for a lack-lustre meal and £90 on taxis to get there. The place is totally hyped up! We were expecting a sophisticated, glamorous experience and’s were totally disappointed. Avoid this Groupon offer!

A friend of ours knew that we had never been to Crazy Bear so gifted us a ‘signature’ lunch for Two with a free glass of champagne each. It was an Anniversary present through Wowcher and we were excited to try the place out for the first time. The venue was the Crazy Bear ‘Thai’ in Beaconsfield. We parked up easily and walked into the main entrance of what turned out to be the English cuisine version of Crazy bear, we were blown away by the decor and a little disappointed when we were told that this wasn’t for us and were politely directed 50 metres down the road. We expected much of the same, but what a contrast! the entrance downstairs is a scruffy bar area at the foot of some stairs and it was completely unattended. We didn’t know where we were supposed to go and it was at least 5 minutes before someone stuck their head round a corner and told us to head upstairs. By comparison the Crazy Bear ‘Thai’ restaurant is nothing special to look at and is not representative of the lovely website images. A bit of velvet on the walls and dark lighting doesn’t automatically equal luxury and decadence! The service was good, all the staff were very smart, polite and courteous. Beyond that, the food was only OK, not great. A couple of good dishes, but otherwise rather bland and not at all generous in portion size for sharing plates (see pictures). Now here’s my personal complaint and it is more one of principles rather than quality or service. This meal was a gratefully received gift. We expected to enjoy a great meal in the surroundings shown on the website, then to pay for our additional drinks and a nice tip to our server. Instead we got none of the luxury, received a £16 Cocktail that was 70% ice and a tiny soft drink from a mixer sized bottle for £4.50. This is unnecessary profiteering. The 13.5% gratuity was also calculated against an over inflated (pre-discounted) bill of £204. That’s 2x Signature menus at £67 each plus two ‘free’ glass of bubbly at £50. Plus £20 for a tiny cocktail and an even smaller lemonade. All in a £25 gratuity for a very unimpressive lunch. I’m not tight and have no problem paying the tip, but I would have had a real issue with paying £229 in total for that meal. Thank goodness for Wowcher! We had a much better lunch recently at The IVY Asia in Guildford. The food was top notch, the decor and ambience were fantastic and the bill was half the price and felt like great value for money. Just my opinion, but be warned and prepared for disappointment.

Me and my husband was looking forward to this meal, however it was very overpriced, especially the sharing starter for £20 PP - which included 1 vegetable spring roll, one thin chicken satay skewer, less than once 1/4 of prawn toast and a table spoon amount of salt and pepper baby squid each, how they can justify £20 each for the above is as they say daylight robbery!! The rest of the food we ordered was nice and the cocktails were good but its a shame that it was very overpriced for what you got.

Only a curtain separates the room from the toilet from the bed so good luck if you need privacy. And the windows don't open so bring air freshener. It's so dark you can't read anything. The bath is uncomfortable to sit in and hard to get out of. My complaints about the bed fell on dead ears. In all honesty we were quite underwhelmed by our visit. Firstly, it was particularly difficult to make our reservation when we would call and get no answer from the Stadhampton hotel on various days. When they finally replied to my email, we were told there was no availability and had to instead book at the Beaconsfield hotel but on alternative dates. On arrival, there was no signage displayed on the exterior of the property to confirm we had the right place. The only giveaway was the large bear outside with a chain around it's neck. We were also unable to get parked and had to park a good 5/10 minute walk away which was not ideal. When we were allocated our room, it was not quite what we expected. We were given room No1 and given the price we paid and the photos on your website, it did come over quite tacky and seedy in all honesty. Like most things the pictures look sooooo much better than the real thing, even my phone pictures make it look nicer. As soon as you walked in the room you was met with an overwhelming unpleasant smell in the room which I can only imagine was the smell of leather (I hope it was leather 🙈) given the amount of it on the walls, ceiling and floors. We were disappointed not to have tea/coffee available in the room after a tiring journey. The sloped floors were also quite uncomfortable moving around the room particularly in socks. We were disappointed that no bubble bath or shower gel were supplied only shampoo and conditioner. This was unexpected given the huge bath in the room. It was also difficult to utilise devices with only one plug socket by the bed, my wife using the hairdryer, hair straighteners was a challenge when no plug by a mirror. The blinds where also broken and curtains were very dusty. We also had to listen to the thumping music from downstairs until 1230am, it was so loud I thought there could of been a DJ set in the room! As for the English restaurant, it was pleasantly decorated and staff were friendly but drinks were very expensive. We were also not particularly impressed with the 13.75% service charge added to our bill which included the prepaid portion of our bill!! While we were eating our meal, we were also approached by another diner advising that she was appalled by the additional charges added to her bill without being advised before her meal. She was warning other guests etc. She was asked to vacate the premises by the staff but in fairness I can understand her frustration. During breakfast we had a very long wait for service (35mins) and feel that a buffet for the continental breakfast would be much easier for guests and staff. Staff seemed rushed off their feet and very overwhelmed. We had to repeatedly ask for coffee and milk and did not receive all the items we ordered. (I only ordered pastries and toast and the toast didn't come) We didn't make a fuss as I couldn't be bothered to wait even longer and was quite keen to just check out to be honest and make our way home. This was probably also due to hearing a member of staff having a meltdown in the kitchen after feeling disrespected by another member of staff. We heard swearing and shouting and she seemed to feel very mistreated by her colleague. I don't blame her as most of the breakfast team seemed very busy and were receiving repeated complaints left & right from customers about service etc. So overall as I say we didn't have the best experience given we do not get much opportunity to have a night out together without the children. Would I go again.... No Would I go again if it was free... No Don't get caught up in the hype, spend your hard earned money somewhere else.

My wife got me the Virgin Experience Crazy Bear Twelve Plate Signature Sharing Menu with Champagne for Two for our wedding anniversary. We've been to the Crazy Bear a few times before, in fact, I had proposed there so we were really looking forward to the experience. Having said that, we had never been to the Thai restaurant....and we will never go again. We arrived at the Crazy Bear and went into the reception only to be told that the Thai Restaurant is not in the Crazy Bear itself but you have to go back out on the street, walk down the road, and it's past a few doors on the right hand side!? So, we duly went out of the Crazy Bear, over the cobbled path, walked down the street past the newsagents and into a dark brown doorway. We were greeted and shown to our table upstairs. Now the Crazy Bear is memorable for it's décor which is unusual, bold and eclectic; the Thai Restaurant is plain vanilla by comparison. No matter, it has a nice open plan huge vaulted ceiling with some very impressive sympathetic restoration to the massive beams. The complimentary champagne arrived and we looked forward to a memorable wedding anniversary experience. In fact, when I booked on line, one of the tick-boxes asked if there was a special occasion and I duly ticked the "Wedding Anniversary" box. Also, when I was called to confirm my reservation, I also mentioned on the phone it was our wedding anniversary. Not sure why I bothered now as there were no comments when we arrived or throughout the evening from any of the staff? Perhaps it's so they can spam me next year? We'll wait and see but if they do, they may not like my response. Back to the complimentary champagne......it was warm. Not a great start. Unfortunately, we had to send it back and we finally got our cold champagne. Surely not too much to ask for is it? We had never had a 12 course meal before but looking on the web, the examples we saw were 12 individual "courses" with perhaps a sorbet in between some of the courses to cleanse the palate. What we didn't expect was a small bowl of seaweed or a plate of spicy crackers to be called a "course". We also didn't expect several of these so called "courses" to be served at the same time and sometimes even on the same dish. It is as if each side dish, and even the complimentary crackers that you might get in other restaurants, was referred to as a "course". The pork ribs were tough and chewy and almost impossible to swallow. We've had better meat-falling-off-the-bone, melt-in-the-mouth ribs from a packet in the local supermarket. The sashimi were mere slithers, wafer thin. On to the service, we asked what one of the garnishes were on the sashimi but our waitress didn't know and she said that she would find out for us but she never did. We later asked for a finger bowl with some lemon to clean our fingers but that never appeared either. Looking around we noticed as another couple arrived, as the lady sat down to make herself comfortable, she took a few moments to take the strap of her shoulder-bag carefully over her head and place the bag beside her. The waitress seemed oblivious to this and had been standing there from the moment the lady sat down waving a menu under her nose urging her to take it when clearly she wasn't ready to receive it. This may seem to be nit picking but it's an example of feeling rushed and hurried. We were politely reminded 20 mins before our allocated time-slot was over that we needed to finish so that our table could be ready for the next Customers. Regarding the ambiance, the lighting was too dark and the music too loud. Sorry, but suggest you go elsewhere for a your anniversary meal.

Check in is from 4pm which is far too late to then enjoy the pool facility, as it's only open for use in daylight hours. (no lighting or lifeguard?) and you'll literally need to walk across a zebra crossing in your bath robe in winter (are you mad?) Room (Suite) was across the road also, & definitely style over substance. Blinds with curtains that you can't draw closed, as they are just screwed in place for aesthetic purposes only. Room climate control was not getting hot enough & was pretty noisy thus keeping me awake. Bathroom had a sharp (chest height) tile corner that would cause serious injury if you slipped on the wet tiled floor. Rising tv at the foot of the bed was slow to rise/close & hindered my feet when in the closed position. The layout of the room made the room feel dark & cramped as it's separated in to two sections, rather than a big open room which would be much better. The service in the restaurant was fine, but the food was SERIOUSLY lacking & we sent back THREE dishes. Two other guests complained also about food quality & temperature. We literally had to get refunded on the food for dinner, & because of this we decided to skip breakfast & check out. For approx £350 a night we would not recommend this hotel. We were not even compensated for our experience, which just sums up this hotel I guess.

Interesting restaurant - went for a birthday meal. The place looks more like a messy mix between a nightclub / private club / dodgy looking boudoir than a restuarant. Decor was a little too garish for me, but I can see how it may appeal to others. Parking was awful/extremely limited. Staff were engaged, very polite and for me probably the only positive aspect. But we did not go there to engage with the staff, we went for the signature menu with circa 7 courses which sounded appealing. The food was very much a disappointment though....almost all of it. The beef was especially dry, overdone and dripping in sauce perhaps to hide the issues. Neither of us could even eat it....took a few bites and had to stop. Everything else on the menu was below par. The only part of the meal that was partially decent was the mid course sorbet. Drinks/cocktails was mainly ice, overtly diluted and massively over-priced. I really expected a much higher food quality. ;(. The x2 heavies at the door was unexpected ..... Probably close to our worst dinning experience ever....more irritating when you factor in the price. We will not return.

Unable to dine there as we were double booked… 37 weeks pregnant, had travelled for 40 minutes. We learnt our table needed to be returned in 1hr15. No attempts to take our food or drink order in first 30 mins. Staff told us “it was not their fault” and that they could not delay the subsequent booking in case they complained! We left and had a delicious meal at Giggling Squid at half the price!! Have not witnessed such appalling customer service in my life. It was also pitch black and filthy inside with sticky menu cards and dirty seats.

Been before and it's been amazing but not this time. The service was just ok. During some courses, cutlery was just dropped down on the table. Some courses we were asked to pass our plates! Pass our plates! We're not going around your nans house for tea.. Walk around and pick them up, do it properly. Whilst the servers smiled a bit to smooth it out, honestly it just looked like loads of inexperienced young staff (not their fault) - no problem with that but when they are in Weatherspoons service mode in here, that's a problem. The food was, mostly bang average. One course was great the rest.. All a bit limp. The cheese and biscuits finisher looked more like one of my sons school cookery experiments. We also went for a few drinks at the bar. No tab! What! We had to pay as drinks arrived each time and were given some bizarre story about me systems.. Round of drinks was 70 quid each go with the (pretty average) service. The vibe of the place is gone. Low standards of dress code, the rear part had people all over the place, kids over the floor (no problem with kids - got 2 myself). For the money, give this a miss and spend yours elsewhere, where you can get the service and experience that crazy bear money demands.

We were given a voucher by our sons for the 12 plate Thai meal plus champagne. First the positive.. champagne was pink Lanson and lovely. Unfortunately everything else was not good … within 5 mins of sitting down the prawn crackers came out with dipping sauce, within another 5 mins 4 starters, sea bass - very small, spring rolls - greasy/tasteless, ribs - fatty, edamame - ok. Within a few minutes of this being cleared, out came the mains and they were really unpleasant. Prawn pad Thai - very greasy, bland. 4 prawns. Pork and duck on same plate. Duck was not fresh and pork was dry. The whole meal felt like an Iceland meal that had just been reheated. We were very disappointed and refused to pay the £23 service bill.

We too did the virgin days voucher for 12 course tasting menu & glass of champagne. All of it was excellent. There was nothing that was ‘dry’ or ‘tough’ as others have said, it was all really flavoursome, presented beautifully and not in a rush, and the portions were huge! 4 of us were stuffed. It was all delicious and we cleared all the plates. The staff were quick and attentive too. Please don’t let the negative reviews put you off this place, it was a lovely treat!

The room was great and we enjoyed the food and drinks, although the drinks are hugely overpriced. The decor was lovely and it’s a beautiful setting. The guy that showed us to our room and ladies on reception when we checked in were great but that is where the good service ended. I waited so long after we finished our main course for them to clear the plates and offer desserts that I gave up and asked for the bill. The waitress then told us “it might not look busy but it is and we have a private function” but they should staff accordingly with the prices they charge, it shouldn’t affect our very expensive stay and meal. She then told us if we leave a 5 star review they will give us a bottle of champagne on our next visit. I want good service, not freebies for leaving good reviews. They should work on the service rather than bribing people to leave good reviews! Finally when I checked out I was charged £75 for the late check out and drinks I’d ordered to the room which I was expecting. I asked these could be deducted from the £150 they had held at check in. She said quite rudely “no, that is for incidentals” and I said those things would be incidentals and she said “no, they are extras”.. I am attaching here a dictionary explanation of incidentals, showing that it means extras” 😂 what a ridiculous rude response. So I paid £75 and have to wait for the £150 which they apparently took for no good reason as I wasn’t allowed to use it for incidentals/extras and will get that back “in a few days”. Great place, awful service unfortunately!

I booked the superior room with breakfast and a 3 course meal via wowcher I booked dinner for 8pm. When I tried to book my room they told me there’s none available baring in mind I tried to book 5 weeks in advance and I’d have to either pay more for a junior suite or they’ll put 50£ on my room tab To downgrade the room, I paid the extra for a junior suite for the bath. When we got into the room we had no hot water for 3 hours , and by the time the water was back we had to go for dinner. We had to have a cold shower and didn’t get to use to bath. Our dinner then got moved later last minute which is awful the fact I booked 5 weeks in advance. In the morning I woke up to there being a massive leak in the bathroom which we then was unable to use the shower and didn’t have time to use the bath as checkout was in an hour and needed to have breakfast before- there was no offer to move us to another room or have a late checkout to be able to shower/ bath before leavin. I paid a lot of money and was not able to use the facilities very very disappointed. Then when I email to make a complaint there has been no reply.

I am SOOO upset with my stay and also attested avoid at all cost!!! I spent around £800 and you’d expect five start service for this and an unforgettable experience, it was unforgettable but for all the wrong reasons! Decor and dining room bar area is outdated and boiling hot so uncomfortable cocktails and wine are poor I ask the manager why there was strange almost debris in the bottom of our glasses to be told the wine had crystallised as it’s been laying around for a while (not sure that’s what people want to hear) The dinner menu was very limited and strange! The steak was served with food gras which isn’t actually English so unsure why it’s on the English menu and only other choice was pigeon and black pudding so very very odd choices! I asked the remove the food gras and what else the steak was served with the answer was “a bit of bread” which again I’ve never in my life heard of being served with steak!!! I asked to change to Thai this seemed to be an issue but was eventually agreed to as the other choice would be to literallly go elsewhere! We had a drink in the bar after and I went to the toilet what I came out the bar staff were standing around with a plastic bag with white ponder in it smelling the bag I can only assume this was the work out which illegal substance was in the bag! I had seen a two year old child in the bar earlier and I was very very shocked by this! I asked what was going on to be told “our clients love a bit of the white powder” and they often find it and can’t actually control it a further conversation led to them revealing they knew exactly who this belonged to and he was a regular and maybe if we’d have come on a Saturday they’d be a feel party going on! I was not there for a party me and my husband have three young children and wanted a break it was his birthday and I feel it was ruined by this event occurring I told the reception on check out about the experience she said nothing she could do and I must pay up and email which I did and since leaving crazy bear I have tried and tried and tried to contact manager Liam and he ignores every email I send then finally got hold of the general manager who eventually called me and he agreed to call me the next day with a solution and no call was ever made to me! I feel no option but to take matters further This establishment in my opionin is cringy run down overpriced and has a load of terrible staff with terrible service and not at all worth £800 in fact I feel completely robbed

I wonder how they got hygiene certificate! The waitress swept crumbs from the table next to our table using a dry cloth/ towel. We came to celebrate our anniversary and a rare night away from our baby on Friday, 12th April 2024, we were really looking forward to it. I’d been wanting to stay at the Crazy Bear for ages as was super excited with the gothic style rooms. We were given the stay as a gift from our wedding so was over the moon to receive it! Whilst the room was novel (albeit not the room with the bathtub in that I had really wished for) The room did need a bit of TLC as the sink had a huge crack in it, there was a chip on the toilet seat and the leather in the bathroom windowsill needed some love as was worn. The service was honestly terrible. Whilst it looked like there were loads of staff, none of them seemed to be working. For dinner we had a meal booked in the English restaurant we had 3 courses included and ordered the Duck/ Steak with Sauces and then Desserts. The food was lovely. The sauce was forgotten so I had asked for it to be brought over before the food went cold. Dessert took 30 minutes to come out after our mains had been taken away and another table who had ordered after us got theirs before us which was very frustrating. The complimentary breakfast service was like an episode of Faulty Towers in all honesty. A young waitress sat us down and gave a very quick spiel of, ‘The complimentary continental breakfast is included with your stay but everything else is an additional cost’ which firstly made it super confusing as to what was included as there were prices with all the continental options so no real advice on what was included and what wasn’t. The restaurant for breakfast at 9.30am was full of diners but no one had any breakfast albeit we are talking about continental which involves next to no cooking. 3 tables left during our wait to even place an order, due to no orders being taken. There was no waiters in the actual restaurant for many of the minutes we sat there waiting. A customer finally managed to grab someone to come in to the dining room and take orders. We eventually had our order taken after sitting there for 25minutes who took all orders, from all diners at once then slowly input them all into a computer and then we waited. People who had sat down after us again got their food first even though they had cancelled their orders. Coffees were being brought out one at a time which was insane. Eventually I asked the same girl who had sat us down, ‘how long is this all going to take we’ve been waiting 35minutes for croissants and yogurt’ she said she would go and find out and then literally never came back to tell me. Food came out 10 minutes later with no apology of a delay. It was great yogurt but the croissant actually did not come out warm and was slightly over cooked but why am I waiting for 45minutes to eat granola and yogurt? In all that time only one filter coffee was given. We came to check out at 11am no one was on reception for 10 minutes and there was a queue. We were told when we checked in that reception was manned 24hrs a day. Eventually someone came who was very lovely and understood our concerns and removed all service charge which we felt terrible doing because the food was delicious when it eventually came out! The wait time is inexcusable when you have the amount of staff that you do and I have never seen 3 sets of tables get up and leave due to wait times for continental breakfast. It's laughable. For the prices you are charging for the rooms and the food you should be sorting out the fact the customer isn’t coming first. We still had a great anniversary but it was more because if we didn’t laugh about the absolute shambles we were facing we would have had really depressing time. Thank god for the lemon drop cocktail as that was fantastic.

My partner and I decided to use a voucher we received for Christmas to try out the 12 sharing course at Crazy Bear Restaurant, and boy, am I glad we didn't pay full price for it. The food was pretty underwhelming - I mean, who serves naked Snickers bars and popcorn for dessert? And don't get me started on the main courses. The linguine was drowning in a tasteless sauce, and the meat on the other course was as dry as a desert. As for the ambiance, it may look fancy in pictures, but in reality, the carpeted walls and gold-painted ceiling felt a bit tacky. And the rooms? Forget about it. We didn't stay overnight, but the reviews we read about them being dirty and dusty definitely put us off. And let's talk about the drinks. I nearly choked when I saw the prices. Thirteen pounds for a tiny double shot, plus another £4.50 for a coke to go with it? 17.50 for one drink. A bit extreme On the bright side, the service was decent. The staff made sure our dishes were served promptly, but unfortunately, that was the only highlight of the evening. Overall, I wouldn't rush back to Crazy Bear anytime soon.

have never been treated like an inconvenience as much as we were treated so at this restaurant. Arrived in advance of our booking at 1430 to be told the table wasn't ready and asked to wait in the main bar - when finally advised the table was ready at 1440 we were informed that the kitchen closed at 1500 however not to worry they could cook all of our food at the same time and leave on our table. We were not happy with this and were then informed not a problem the kitchen would stay on later to accommodate (why does a restaurant take a booking for 1430 for a 2 hour slot when they shut at 1500) 40 minutes later we received our complementary glass of champagne and shortly after the starters - we had apologies from the manager who then informed us that the kitchen were having technical issues and that the food would be with us shortly - when the main course was delivered to the table it was lukewarm and had obviously been sat under a hot plate for some time, meats were tough and dried out. We were then approached by the manager to advise that they had another booking for our table at 1600 and that they would need our table before our 2 hour booking slot was ended (again why would you have a booking for 1600 if the kitchen is shut at 1500?). Once our mains were completed and removed and no acknowledgement given to our comments that the food was cold, we were then asked if we would mind settling the bill and having our desserts served in the main hotel lobby as they needed to reset the restaurant for evening service. In summary a very disappointing experience in a restaurant we had been really looking forward to trying, constantly being lied to and having stories changed - would certainly NOT recommend

Decent place to stay, lots of staff on hand to cater for your every need.... unfortunately the room was a little tatty, broken mirrored table and the bath was extremely worn. The evening meal was tasteless too, far from the quality at Stadhampton. Definitely needs a spruce up. 🦁

Totally gone down hill. New owners and Decor is now boring and ‘normal’ - service is inattentive l, Poor inexperienced and it’s packed with people who have ‘vouchers’. Also use to be smart dress code. Now hoodies, trainer and baseball caps are ok 🤷‍♀️

Absolutely appalling service- Staff pathetic and have no common sense- My friend paid for a room in advance with his card for my room. He explained that he would be late and so to allow me into the room on arrival as I had travelled for 2hrs 40 mins to get there- he explained to staff on booking that he would show his card later once he arrived- for the £150 pre authorisation. On arrival , I explained situation and they stated they needed his card, I stated they could use my card to pre authorise as the room had already been paid for and they had taken the money for the room in advance. The hotel manager refused insisting to see his card and only could use his card!! I explained the room has been paid and to use a different for extras / pre authorisation refused- Cara Nagpal is a pathetic operations manager and has no common sense or skill in dealing with g with Custer complaints - and has no idea of how to handle situations: I have never heard or had any staff act so pathetic in my time as a business women. Extremely poor service- this was to celebrate 50th birthdays and our MBE’s - Shameful And appalling—very poor service - and handling of a very simple Situation- felt very biased-

I booked this after much speculation and I was very excited . I like to make my own judgement but I just viewed some of the other comments and I have to agree that it is one of the worst meals I’ve had. The food is sticky and greasy, the meat dry. Nothing nice to say. Most of the other dishes disguised with sauce. The best dish was the crispy seaweed. Very disappointing.

We were really excited to go to this restaurant as part of our package with the crazy bear, but after sitting down and given the menu (this was the set menu) we see that it was extremely poor. We asked to upgrade to the other menu, but was denied, so we continued with the set menu. The set menu came with no sides, so you had to pay for them extra, it was £13 for some pak choi and £8.50 for some terrible rice. The whole meal was one of the worst I have ever had, the satay chicken was so dry, the mains were not only strange, but disgusting and the desert we couldn't eat it was that bad. I would never return. Also I know the theme is meant to be dark, but not near pitch black.

Extremely disappointing. We did the 12 plate Thai menu and they would not let us do separate menus (one vegetarian & one meat). Service was poor and very slow, had to ask 3 times for the bill. They did not have some of the food and the food they did have was not nice. This restaurant is also separate to the crazy bear actual hotel which is a shame. I would not recommend nor return, it is not worth the money at all.

A birthday Dinner for 8 and were offered 9.30pm seating. Late but we thought would be worth the wait. Arrived to be told that we couldn’t order off the a la carte and got stung for the £65 a head sharing menu. Like others in the comments, were immediately told the kitchen was closing and to hurry. Starter food was all greasy deep fried.main course arrived before the starters were finished. The food was average at best. No genuine Thai flavours, every dish tasted the same. Although the staff were lovely it felt chaotic and lacking in the finesse expected for this place/price. The staff were cleaning the restaurant around us as we were hurried to finish. Really disappointing for what was supposed to be a special occasion. Why offer late sittings?!! Would not go again nor recommend.

I'm a regular at North Star and I'm never left disappointed. It is a great place to work from during the day, the food is top notch and the service provided by Azaz, Ghano and Daud leaves very little to be desired. Great value for money and my go-to venue. North Star really is Iver's little hidden gem.

The portions quite small, specifically morning grocery stirs dishes and papaya salad. I forgot to take the pictures but it’s really a little.
