I went here with my family for a celebration. Not local to Cromer we weren’t quite sure where to go. The reviews on here were not really promising, but we took a punt. We were pleasantly surprised. The curry was lovely. Lots of great flavour. The portions were generous. The service very efficient. Would highly recommend and hope to go when I’m next visiting.

Been in Cromer for over a week now and as a garlic chilli chicken lover, we thought we’d try the Garlic Chilli chicken masala with lemon rice. It certainly lived up to my expectations, above and beyond so had to have a second visit a few days later.! Up there with my favourite GCC dishes. Definately recommend. ⭐️

Takeaway! Avoid cromer tandoori! I found a hair in my food and they were so rude about it, told me they would replace the curry , why would I eat there again after that! told me mistakes happen, I said it's no mistake it wouldnt happen if they had hair nets on! So they made me walk back in the rain with the hair 😂 only to refund part of the curry not the rest of the money wasted! because why would I touch anything else!

It looked a bit shabby from outside, but a nice welcome and very clean. The order for drinks taken straight away and we were given time to consider what we wanted to eat. We choose the set menu for two, thinking that it would give us a good variety. It was the worst Indian meal we have ever had, each item was not just very over spiced, but tasted harsh and not the mellow spice tastes you would expect, even the rice was not nice. The cost was average, had it been top class we would have been happy to pay more, but it was nowhere near that. We would certainly not return.

Rocked up starving at 8pm Friday night in mid October having been let down on a booking at another local eatery (not Indian). Only needed a table for 2 and was quickly shown to a table next to the bar area. Place was less than half full, perfect. Staff were friendly & attentive and quickly had 2 beers and starters. Main course soon followed which was lovely. Only gripe I'd have was then Naan bread was half the size I'm used too, although delicious and they stated only took cash or cheque (although witnessed others paying by card?!) All in all very happy with our experience.

Fantastic great quality meal with lovely pints to boot. Restaurant wasn’t busy on an October Sunday night so managed to get a table no bother. Had poppadoms and pickles, two mains, peshwari naan, rice and three pints for £50 which I would consider to be great value. Everything was very tasty and well cooked and of a decent portion. From the moment we stepped in we had fantastic service with very attentive and kind staff - really couldn’t ask for more. Toilets were also wonderfully clean. Other reviews mention that decor is dated which I suppose is true, while a lick of paint and a redecorate wouldn’t go amiss, this definitely doesn’t detract from the meal. Cobra on tap was excellent. Would highly recommend!

Looking for somewhere to eat last night on our first night of holiday and came across this place. It may need a luck if paint but was clean, as were the loo”s. Food really good, hubby had a speciality hut curry, said was really good and I had a very good chicken rogan josh. Shared a paratha that had sliced potato in it, very nice, Bombay potato’s, onion bhajis that weren’t greasy and a really good mushroom rice. The bill was difficult to read, but we had an idea if cost and it met that. Only takes cash and cheques which is very unusual today, but so good we are going back before we head home next weekend .

If you are use to having your curry made with a jar sauce from the supermarket and enjoy it....dont bother with this restaurant. The Cromer Tandoori is by far the most authentic tasty Indian food we have eaten anywhere in the UK. We had several dishes...the simple chicken balti through to lamb dansi and the flavours were sublime. The mushroom rice actually had mushrooms too!! The service was provided by a very lovely man called Sali (apologies if I spelt his name wrong). He was very humble and attentive. Many review comments concentrate on the decor of the restaurant and, yes we would agree to a point that it is somewhat dated, however ...if you want a delicious Indian meal with friendly customer service at a reasonable price, please please look past this. We will definitely be going again, next time we are in the area

We all had different dishes but found them very bland. Mine was chicken passander which was in a lumpy tasteless sauce. The other had a speciality chilli chicken which again was tasteless apart from the sudden blow out from a chilli. The next dish was butter chicken which came with a large lump of butter it. The rices and nans were very average to say the least. Will not be returning.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

Let's get the bad out of the way first: It looks extraordinarily dated - probably hasn't see a coat of paint since Charles married Di. It's kinda grubby, with grease spots on the paintwork, courtesy of over excited punters and shashliks-a-bubblin'. The service can be a little offhand and bored. The place is desperately in need of a facelift. The toilets are very beige and dated. Most annoyingly: they accept only cash. Now the good: the food is great. I mean: when you look at the place, it's fair to say your expectations hit the floor. But we have eaten here several times recently and the CURRIES are REALLY GOOD. I've read some reviews where people are complaining about the food. I would imagine this is just general malaise and someone having a bad day in the kitchen. They don't seem to care that much. Maybe, we have been lucky recently. The chef knows his onions, his garlic, his naan, and his spices. We had onion bhajees - crisp and delicious, a prawn puri - super yum. The chicken dansak and tikka masala both had well defined flavours and were good. The sag aloo was great. It was lip-smacking stuff. But... there is no ambition here -and that is absolutely fine. It reminds us of a 1980s old school curry house - but in the best way. Great curries. Perfect post pub stuff. Play it safe with the standard menu. What we had was delicious. We both keep expecting it to be bad but... it isn't. It's good - really good. If it sorted out the many problems it has, it could be something special because, did I mention this already, THE CURRYS ROCK. Maybe takeaway is the way forward....

Last week my daughter and son in-law came home to Cromer for a quick visit for the night and they fancied an Indian takeaway meal. We tried to order one from our favourite Indian restaurant in Sheringham but it was closed for the night. So instead we went to Cromer Tandoori for a takeaway. The meal cost £50 and to say we were dissapointed was an understatement. Most of the dishes were mediocre at best, the containers were not full, especially the rice. The issue we had was with the Chicken Korma and the Chicken Tikka Korma. I poured the Chicken Tikka onto the plate and it ended up spilling onto the kitchen surface. Korma is normally a lovely thick and creamy sauce but this was orange coloured water, the same happened with the chicken tikka koma. I tasted it and it tasted of nothing, I really mean no taste, if you count tap water as a taste then you may be happy with these dishes. I called the restaurant and explained what we thought of the meal and was told "we will take care of you" I offered my name but they said there was no need as I just need to tell them again what I'd just explained to them on my next visit. I wasn't happy at all with this, there was no apology and it seemed that this was quite normal for them. I had an issue many years ago with a meal I had from there and their idea of "taking care of us" was half price off one dish when we decided to give them another try. I believe £3.50 off a ruined meal that cost me £50 is unaceceptable. My issue was more with the way they dealt with my complaint. My daughter then called too see if she could get any sense from them. They said there were only twi members of staff working, it was very busy and they were having problems in the kitchen. She was told the same about taking care of us but would not take our name or any details. I didn't expect a full refund but I felt a refund of the two dishes that were unedible would have been the least they could have offered. I hope the owners read this and understand they can't treat customers this way. I think they rely on the fact that most people won't ask for the offer of "being taken care of" and just won't return and rely on holiday makers to make their money. Please contact me and make an effort to put things right, locals deserve better!

Visited this restaurant on a rainy Sunday. Service was prompt but the food was disappointing bland and over cooked. I like Indian food and have it regularly but I would not go back to this one

Had a great meal out on Saturday night. Service was a bit slow to start with as it was busy but the food was worth the wait, some different dishes well executed. Did feel a bit rushed to start with but after 8.30 the waiting staff seemed more relaxed. Would go again

Ate here this week, prebooked as table of 7 (2 couples & 3 kids) always had a great meals previously but tonight was the worst service ever, arrived to find the only large table was already taken with a family half way through their meal so was seated in the window area on 2 separate tables, kids on 1 table adults on the other, ordered drinks and popadums but took forever to get pickles as the waiter seemed to want us to “share” between the 2 tables, had to call them back to the table as put half the pickle tray on 1 table and rest on the other, had basically eaten them by the time kids received any mango chutney and we just made do with what had been placed on our table, by this time we were the only diners left in the restaurant 8.40 pm) a group of 6 did come in and waited but no one came to show them to a table so they left, several members of the restaurant family then arrived and they appeared to be having a birthday celebration for a small child but one of the other kids (toddler) was obviously tired and cried for a good 30 mins, we couldn’t talk at the table due to the noise, I understand this is what kids do but shouldn’t be trying to run a restaurant and look after their own babies at the same time

We went to the Cromer Tandoori twice in the same week as the place was warm friendly and welcoming. The food was exceptionally good. The service was also very good. I had the Cromer Naga Spice which I would recommend to anyone who likes a hot curry. This was truly a dish to die for. A meal for two was extremely cheap compared to other Indian restaurants we have been to.

Hey dudes I am a crazy Dutch guy who is mad for the Indian food. The waiters at "another" local Indian Restaurant told me to avoid the "Cromer Tandoori" restaurant and continue to frequent their establishment instead and spend my money there. I have followed their profound advice for the last 5 years.

Back again in Cromer and we always visit the Cromer Tandoori. Had another great evening and a great meal. It is a traditional Indian restaurant so the menu was reassuringly familiar with some house specials.

Went with 3 friends for the first time after some good write ups . Mabey we picked a bad night but the food was well below par. All dishes were not quite hot and this restaurant appears to have fallen into the trap of others in that it uses the seemingly same batch of 4/5 sauces for all dishes . I had the Lamb Dhansak and counted 5 slivers of hard grissly strips of some meat and nowhere near the “succulent marinaded “ as stated on the menu. The prawn cocktail was served in a pudding dish with limp lettuce on the bottom, some unedifying prawns and the most tasteless pink sauce imaginable . It is not cheap and frankly I was hugely disappointed

We’ve been here four times now and have had a great meal every time. Would definitely recommend giving it a go and I was surprised to see the negative comments on other posts. The food has always been really tasty and we have had no complaints or negative feedback at all. The lager is a bit expensive, but we tend to go for wine instead.

Cautious given the mixed reviews, but found the meal to be better than expected - not bad at all. Give it a go and see what you think1

this restaurant reminds me of the good old days of curry restaurants, no sparkly lights and modern fancy lighting. Not sure about the paintings on display I would rather see something more in keeping with an Indian theme. The menu is full of all the old favourites and as yet have not had a bad curry. Drinks are a bit on the expensive side but Cromer in general is quite expensive for drinks. I would recommend this restaurant if you like more traditional style Indian food with no frills.

Had a great meal here. The prices weren't too bad, although I did overhear one woman say the beer was very expensive. The wine wasn't. Starters shared were breaded butterfly prawns and a 'taster' starter. Lovely. Then, we shared prawn spinach saag and tandoori chicken, with mushroom rice. Wow! What a brilliant mix, all delicious, with the spinach beating them all. Pleasant staff, helpful. Small restaurant, wasn't too busy, nice atmosphere. If we lived nearer, I'd never go to any other Indian restaurant. Thank you Tandoori Cromer

I really don’t know where the negative reviews come from for this place. I’ve ordered curries 7 or 8 times from here and the food has been consistently excellent. Once the food was about 25 minutes late, but still arrived hot and fresh. Bearing in mind this is a basically a cheap kebab shop, they are honestly turning out some of the best tasting curries I’ve ever had. I can’t speak for the kebabs or pizzas. Only ordered from the Indian.

We were very pleasantly surprised how good Fakenham Tandoori is. It’s entirely unprepossessing outside and certainly not ostentatious inside but clean and capacious. But empty - which was not a good sign. But the freshness of the ingredients, the variety available on the menu and the tastes were excellent. We had a vegetarian biryani, a chicken biryani, a kohai (I think cauliflower or spinach), and some starters. The poppadoms were fine, the chapatis excellent - only the chutneys were a bit poor, though the lime pickle was hearty!

Excellent service, would have liked a little more heat spice in the food, but other than that 👍🏽
