Called in late afternoon after a long journey. The place was freezing cold inside ! Ordered the delicious sounding homemade lemonade but was told quite bluntly no, no one ever orders it! Also ordered a homemade scone and asked for it to be served cold but was rudely told that they had to be microwaved from frozen. Wouldn’t recommend or go back but it did provide us with a bit of Fawlty Towers type entertainment! Sadly, judging by other reviews this wasn’t a one-off.

On walking on, nobody to be found. Lady then came in from outside to serve us. Ordered toasted sandwiches for 4 people. One asked for tomato to be added but apparently this would make the toastie too big & all the cheese would fall out?? Hot drinks arrived, all OK, then for the toasties........ two slices of supermarket bread toasted with fillings, served whole, obviously not into presentation. Lady was rather ‘strange’ bordering rude. Dodge if you can

Every time we visit, the proprietor is grumpy and the staff are lovely! There was no soup and staff hadn’t been told so we just had a tea and beans on toast. For some reason, the inside lighting and corners were a huge attraction to wasps so we had to sit outside and there were still a few waspy visitors! We finished quickly as didn’t want to get stung!

We stopped here a few years ago while cycling the Way of the Roses and enjoyed an excellent coffee and a huge slab of home made cake. Finally cycled out that way again today and wished we hadn't. The coffee was way to strong - and I do like strong coffee - the the slice of cake was tiny. The tables outside were plagued by wasps, although those outside other establishments weren't. Service wasn't great either. Won't be back.

Visited here after going to ingleborough caves, was hungry with the kids and other family members. It’s a small cozy place, but was told by the old lady she does not serve food after 2.30pm as she gets too tired. So all we could have was a toasted tea cake or a cake with our hot drinks. Not great when kids are starving. There is a pub next door, so you could visit there. Will not visit again, which is shame really. Ended up drinking to the Lake District, which the kids enjoyed.

After visiting the Ingleborough caves we called in here for a bite to eat. Kids had Vanilla Milkshakes - they absolutely loved them. Also loved the toasties, cheese was to die for, or so told. My wife and I had freshly made Scones with Jam and Cream, lovely. Would recommend to anyone passing through the Village. From the outside it doesn't look great, don't let that put you off - freshly made food - lovely

Half of us had cycled and half of us had come by car with our twins and we arrived to be told that there would be a wait if we wanted food when there was just 2 of us and 2 babies when our 2 other family members arrived we were told too busy to serve 4 of us it would be too much for her.I work in the hospitality industry in London and I have never experienced anything like it. After the lack of welcome we received and also the doubt we would actually get any service we decided to go to the pub the New Inn which was delightful.

Called here on a bike ride one Sunday morning and couldn’t leave soon enough. Exec summary: consistently unwelcoming service from an old lady in a dirty apron. Recommendation: go to the lovely New Inn pub instead.

Arrived at 12.30 and ordered baked potatoes off menu. The lady rudely stated ‘ haven’t got time for that’ asked what she could offer from her extensive menu and she retorted ‘ soup’ watched a further 12 people told that she was too busy and refused to serve them! There were 3 people inside. It was a beautiful sunny warm day .

A one person operation but as the only customers on a wet weekday morning we enjoyed a very pleasant coffee break with a delicious scone as well as a chat with the owner. We will certainly call again when we are in the area. I believe the café is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Our aim was to get to the top of Ingleborough and to prepare ourselves we called in at the cafe for tea and cake before the walk. It is a pleasant cafe, reasonable prices and an efficient and friendly service

A tasty brand of coffee and homemade fruit cake single handedly served by a lovely lady. We always call here for refreshment after walking up Ingleborough. If you don't like the staff situation then perhaps you could go to MacDonalds.

The thing people need to know is that its a one man (elderly lady ) operation and that said needs a little understanding when expecting meals at busy periods. The best time to visit is obviously mid week or quieter weekend times. There are occasions when she

Eleven of us stopped here while cycling the way of the roses, we had all sat down but where basically ignored, eventually we were told that there were to many of us to serve, we were not in a rush and just needed some refreshment, we have never been turned away from a café and have cycled most of England, just beyond belief.....

I was a little dubious on entering this unassuming little cafe. It looks like a few tables in someone's front room but the bacon and egg sandwich was utterly delicious. Definitely don't be put off by first appearances.

We called in twice in the space of a week en route to and from a visit to The Lakes. Found it to be clean and tidy, good friendly service, homemade scones and cakes, not overpriced.

Stopped here duringva walk for lunch. We wanted to order pie with vegetables only to be told "they don't normally serve main meals, they concentrate on sandwiches, cakes etc". Why are meals on the scruffy hand written menu then? We decided to have tuna baguette and a cheese scone instead. Baguette came and was ok but the side salad had so much dressing on it that it ran down the plate into a huge brown pool (table wasn't level). Cheese scones came, my husband's was hot so the butter melted intantly, I cut mine only to find it ice cold in the middle. Obviously had been frozen and put in microwave. We'd been to the bunkhouse and café for lunch a few days earlier and that was faultless. Maybe they were busier as the bunkhouse was closed that day but they need to up their game.

A stop off on a 30mile cycle ride for afternoon tea. The scones were excellent - especially the cheese. The home-made cake was delicious. The tea was generously served, and the view was great. Prices very reasonable. Would highly recommend.

Worst KFC meal I have had - tables dirty, cold in the seating area due to air con and the meal really wasn't great- our tower burgers had a dark coloured hard, greasy, crunchy overcooked coating with dry chicken inside. Perhaps it had been sat too long waiting for it to be sold? It certainly wasn't fresh. Would be wary about eating chicken from there again. Not had this experience in a KFC before. Maybe someone higher up should be checking in occasionally to check on hygiene/food safety standards......

This was my only free camping experience of the coast to coast and truly one of my best camping experiences of the whole trip! You get a toilet, shower, washer and dryer, all for free and just donation based. There were even laundry pods. They stopped serving food at 4pm the day I was there but were happy to help me order food if needed and sold a few snacks which kept me going through the night. Also the locals couldn’t have been friendlier and made for a lively night :) would highly recommend!

Always loved the Crown in Hawes, beautiful pub with amazing food, but I've just been again with different management and they've completely upped the standard. The food was incredible, Amir the chef is brilliant, I recommend the beef stifado. The owners Toni and Rob are so friendly and welcoming, we did not want to go home. Will definitely be going back.
