The road between Ulva Ferry and Calgary is beautiful and half way you will find Croft 3 . We had a surprisingly good dinner in this special place in nature . Very nice service . The whole setting is warm and special !

Booked a table at Croft3 during our week on Mull, always love to try new places which pop up on the island. We found the food to be very good overall. The leek with crab starter was excellent, as was the courgette carpaccio with mint and feta - we will be recreating these at home. The mains were ok - the lobster bisque was quite heavy. The dish arrived with bread sitting in the bisque and a very unique flavoured mayo on top - resulted in mushy bread and if you didn’t like the mayo (which I personally didn’t), you can’t really enjoy some of the elements. Venison sausage was good but odd mix of hot and cold elements, felt a bit of a poor relation to the rest of the menu. 7/10 for the mains. Desserts were excellent however - warm madeleines and raspberry pavlova, couldn’t fault either. A few reviews comment on the decor and seating arrangements - we feel these reviews miss the point a little in that these are deliberate choices to align with the community restaurant feel where talking to those beside you is encouraged and a relaxed, “come as you are” atmosphere is desired. Whilst it may not to be to everyone’s taste, this is a design choice and at the heart of the restaurant so perhaps consider before booking rather than critiquing once visited. We liked the casual feel but would recommend the music being more present in the restaurant - if not fully booked it’s very quiet in there so you feel the need to speak quietly and the sound of cutlery on plates can be quite prominent. Unique restaurant in a beautiful setting. Would recommend a visit and we will be back next time we’re on the island - love that the menu changes frequently so no two visits are the same!

Beautiful setting and wonderful food. We had a fabulous evening last week, thank you so much. Incentive local produce with a french twist and a mean whisky 'penecillin'

The food was creative. Asparagus ice cream desert, superb, Basque cheese cake, delicious, sauce with pork delicious, leak starter with small mussels, the best. The selection of wine is excellent.

Finding good restaurants whilst on holiday is an important part of our holiday… Croft3 was a recommendation, and we were not disappointed. The decor was paired back, very simple, large windows showing nature..stunning, and very clever, as the landscape will forever change with the seasons, same with the food… About the food, it was creative, tasty, well presented, and didn’t break the bank. Well thought through. The service was especially cool as well, baby bound to dad in a harness, barefoot. Beautiful. Yeah, we both thoroughly enjoyed our time at croft3, and will definitely return. Thanks Banjo x

Liked the informal feel with large tables and basic seating but can imagine could be not to everyones tastes. The food however was excellent and the haggis gets a special mention! Only disapointment was lack of alchol free or low alcohol beers on the night and parking could be interesting if busy-might need better signage to overflow? It's something different with a great 3 course meal and great setting.

It's OK I suppose. Only joking, loved it. Not perfect but in a way that is. Informal, family, star baby being exploited, a very cute one, views outrageous. Great friendly people. Catered for my dietary needs. Had some thing that wasn't pasta but turnips. Delicious. Had a wonderful time. Thank you.

Had a Sunday roast lunch at Croft 3 and it was just what we wanted. The food was fresh and well made. The veggie dish had a really meaty taste to it and the desserts were good too. Great views from the window to watch the sea and there world go by.

Lovely roast lunch in an unusual and remote setting. Very tasty walnut and lentil roast (husband had the chicken) along with a pile of beautifully cooked and presented veg and Yorkshire pudding. Delicious apple crumble to follow. Amazing view over the loch throughout. Can’t fault it, really. Good luck to the people running the Croft, they deserve great success.

Destination restaurant with outstanding setting. I like what they were trying to do and understand it must be difficult being so remote .. We had Sunday lunch ... which I think should be a generous plateful but the serving here was modest with 2 small roast potatoes and a tiny yorkshire pudding. ... The beef was excellent-really beefy - and the other elements fresh, unusual and tasty but some of them were barely tepid. .. not helped by the cold plate. Pudding was chocolate orange cake which was outstanding. I enjoyed a Rhubarb soda and rounded off the meal with a decent coffee. Fix these minor points and I would return like a shot

Most of the meal was tepid and served on cold plates; The tables and seating were rudimentary and shared with other customers; Service was just about adequate ,whilst my125ml glass of wine ( (£8.50) was very poor quality! Sorry Croft 3 ,Not good value for money. We won't be returning

The location is new, simple but very nice, convinient and offers an astonishing view of the sea. Personal & charming service by our host and excellent proposal for wine! We had the fish soup followed by the shellfish platter and our ladies a vegetable tempura with rice and a fenison ragout with gnocchis (according to my wife one of the best ever). The tasty desserts finished our excellent experience at CROFT 3. You get a lot for what you pay! To be highly recommended - we shall return for sure!

This is a beautiful location for a relaxed meal out. The food is delicious with a choice of 3 options for each course, including unusual and varied vegetarian dishes (Grilled fennel with a romesco sauce). The flavours are excellent and the portion sizes do not over face. It is great to fancy just a little bit more! The service is leisurely and friendly. The whole experience is clearly a labour of love for the owners. We would happily visit again.

The restaurant is in a beautiful setting although the views are somewhat limited by the overgrown shrubbery. The decor of the restaurant is basic and bench seats for dinner not particularly comfortable. Service was very slow, and we were very hungry by the time our main course was served (1 hour 15 mins after we arrived). The shellfish main was tasty and my husband enjoyed the venison ragout. Great potential but still a long way to go.

Croft3 is a gem that impresses on every level. The food was fantastic, everything felt locally sourced and fitting for the location. The building itself is a beautiful barn which makes the most of the amazing views - staff were very friendly and clearly cared about what they were doing. Cannot recommend highly enought!

Great food, lovely restaurant and beautiful location. Small selection of three starters and main courses, and a selection of desserts. You can taste the passion for food in every mouthful. Reasonably priced and “BYOB” works well until their alcohol license is sorted. Thank you for a lovely meal and experience.

A very special meal in an amazing space. Croft 3 is in a beautiful location on the NW coast of Islay looking across the sea to Ulva. The building is a vernacular stone building converted into a light and airy contemporary eating place. The food was locally sourced, well cooked and extremely interesting and delicious. Well worth the beautiful drive along the coast road, in fact it is certainly a reason to revisit Mull!

We had a really excellent meal chosen from a small selection of dishes per course. So far there is no licence to sell alcohol so as advised we brought our own. The building is recently converted/rebuilt and provides a wonderful space with beautiful views across the sea Loch to Ulva. It will be interesting to see it once the decoration and landscaping are complete. We will certainly return on future visits to Mull.

I call it Debbie's place - you'll know it when you see it! - said several of the locals on Islay. A large group of us visiting the island had spent the morning dotted across it doing various different activities. I'd asked in the brilliant Islay Natural History Trust where locally we could grab lunch and was directed to the Bruichladdich Mini Market. The place itself is run by Debbie, her mum and her sister. It's the ort of place that is the lifeblood of islands the world over - half grocery shop, half cafe - all welcoming. Debbie's sister was in charge when a group of 15 of us rocked up unannounced. This would normally not have been a problem - plenty of outside seating - but that particular day the ferry had been cancelled, along with much of the stock for the shop and cafe. Undeterred the staff there made us feel welcome and pulled together a lunch which went down very well with all - children and adults alike. Think sandwiches and toasties with great coffee and a good choice of cold drinks. They also serve some amazing cakes - I'm told the rocky road was fab, I know the chocolate cake was! Although initially under pressure when we all turned up, the staff seated us happily and we had all eaten within about 15 minutes of arriving.

When open (it has now closed permanently); it was a great wee eating house! We went there often. It will be sadly missed, used by many locals, tourists and organisations as an affordable restaurant.
