Crispy Cod in High Peak

Excellent chippy , fish cooked fresh, staff were friendly and efficient, and both the fish and chips tasted great. The prices were unbelievable too, well worth a visit

Went in for meat Pie chips and gravy. Shocked to see my meat Pie being nuked in the microwave when they have a near empty hot display cabinet.. not good..

Here in New Mills on holiday for a week and was recommended to visit The Crispy Cod in Market St by the owner of Shaw Farm Holidays. I've been twice this week and both times food and service was excellent. It's a busy shop so obviously I'm not the only one that thinks this. I'll be back for sure on my next visit.

Absolutely love this chippy. I travel back home from where I live now in Wolverhampton just for the food. All the staff are so friendly and the food is beautifully cooked. There is literally nowhere better in the country. The fish batter is crispy and gorgeous

The highlight of my trips to New Mills is going to this superb chippy! I have been here numerous times and never had a bad meal - generous portions and of great quality. The lads that work here are always chirpy and engaging - I like their banter as much as their batter! Queuing can take a little time but it’s popular with the locals and worth the wait for the entertainment and quality food 😊

I really enjoy sharing a large fish and chips with a family member when I visit. You can pay by cash or card. Staff are friendly too.

First visit to the CC. After reading the recent reviews had my expectations built up. I was sorely disappointed. Ordered small cod and chips twice & small mushy peas. My fish was dry, the batter rubbery and the chips were also dry, lacking in flavour or texture. I didn’t rate the mushy peas either. As for the 2 guys serving, I really don’t wish to know if you’re going to put a bet on The National or how hard up you are! Poor customer service.

This establishment was spotless. The food is of a very high standard and the fish is cooked perfectly along with the chips. Always come here when visiting New Mills.

What a little Jem of a plaice (see what I did there) great food at probably too low a price I’d say, would be happy to pay for more for that quality, large cod, battered sausage and chips with curry sauce. 1 of the best chippy’s Ive been too. And I’m a greedy git.. :)

One of the best chippies around. People come from Hayfield, Whaley Bridge to get fish and chips. Two sizes of fish to help with rise in cost of living... Fish, chips with mushy peas... fantastic.

Excellent food and is simply what the name of the Shop is. Crispy Cod. The batter was excellent and the Cod was moist and meaty. The Chips were also very well cooked. Our first visit and boy did we make the right choice. Highly recommended.

As I have said in previous reviews, fish and chips aren't the most complex food in the gastronomic world; and yet so many don't get it right. The Crispy Cod, however, does get it right. A simple, unfussy, old-style shop that serves big portions (I had the small chips with my fish and still struggled to finish) and is not too badly priced. The fish was meaty and flaky, the batter crisp and crunchy. The queue was testament to its reputation and its quality.

Best chippy for miles around Regularly get our fish n chips from here Dave and the entire staff are always excellent. Service with a smile. Can't recommend this place enough

Generous portions, reasonable prices, and friendly service. What else is there to ask for? They also have processes in place to protect customers in light of Covid.

This is definitely a throw back. Letters missing, uneven stickers on the price list/menu Sells fish, pies, sausages, chips, peas, gravy. That’s about it, no flashy kebabs, scampi etc. Just high quality fish and chips at a very good price about £5!

I actually don’t live in new mills but make a weekly trip over to this chip shop it’s a bright clean and friendly place the staff are always smiling and happy to serve you. They are a great bunch and obviously liked by many.. the gravy is gorgeous highly recommend you give it a try you won’t be disappointed

Visited here whilst on holiday from Kent having read excellent reviews on TripAdvisor. Encouraged to see a queue out of the door which is always a good sign. Staff so friendly - have a really good banter with locals who are obviously regular customers and they also made us newbies feel equally valued. Cod portion generous and great value. Classic fish shop chips good value - small portion was plenty for us. Don't know his name but blond guy with tattoos had amazing rapport with all his customers. Keep it up!

We popped into the Crispy Cod during our stay in New Mills and I was seriously impressed with the quality of the food they provided. Extremely tasty fish, generous portions, friendly staff and rapid service.

Never disappointed by this chip shop - always generous sized portions, and lovely fish. Parking can be difficult on some days.

They fry the chips to perfection, wrap generous portions of quality fish in the sort of batter that has you fighting over the crispy ends and then sell it for a great price! I can't really think of a single reason to go elsewhere.

just popped in on the off chance passing through the town. really pleased we did the food is absolutely lovely. The only down side is that I cannot pick this place up and bring it to my area to have as my local chippy. will definitely return when back in the area :)

This is a very well established Fish and Chip shop on the main road in the middle of the town that constantly provides really good fish, chips. pies etc at very reasonable prices.

The food here is very nice. Very popular local chippy..must be because it's always full!! Only downside is it could do with a bit of a face-lift but good quality food and good banter to be had with the staff

Easily the best chippy in the area, reasonably priced with well cooked chips and thick crispy batter. Add your pot or peas and your bread roll and you have a meal fit for a king.One piece of advice, the portions are large. A large chips will provide for 2 quite comfortably.
