I take back my earlier review after my latest visit to this fish and chip shop, cod and chips, I know I opened the box the right side up, so I was puzzled why the fish was under the chips, I soon found out, the fish must have been a left over from lunch time, so the male server had the great idea to hide the stale fish under the chips and hoped I wouldn’t notice, well I did, and as a result I’ll never use this shop again, I spent hard earned cash and I expect freshly fried fish. The chips were ok so I give one star..

Decent fish and chips, and ok portion sizes. It took a while to get our food (maybe 15 mins) however.

Went to crispies cos they do the best halloumi burger however when I got there it was busy mostly with online orders there was a lady and a man serving . The lady said sorry hold on I will just do this order an online one then I will serve you . She didn't she carried on doing other stuff . The man didn't attempt to serve me although he was doing nothing after 10 mins of standing there a lady came in and the man served her straight away I was stood at the counter so was obvious I needed serving . I walked out and went somewhere else such a shame I won't be going g there again as lime I said they do the best halloumi

Ist june. Ordered a delivery of small cod and chips. No problem with that. When i opened box the fish was swimming in oil. Batter soggy.chips spotty.i think they need to clean oil. Chips not nice. Meal was cold. I dont know whats gone wrong with crispies. Used to be delicious. Will not go there or have a delivery from there again.£17 and gone in bin. Vile.

Let my 15 year old daughter start a job in the last couple of weeks, started her 3rd shift today to be told she was no longer needed at the end of a busy day. What a disgraceful place, she was really happy and now you have completely dented her confidence 😡. The little fraggle busy body ordering people about who does naff all herself to help and is rude not only to customers but to staff too should be fired. Jerry the manager this is for you 15 hours she worked for you and you pay her £5.30 an hour. Disgraceful and child labour you lot should be investigated. No wonder all your staff are young kids, is it because you don’t want to pay proper money to people? If you are thinking of letting your child work here “DONT”.

If you buy here expect to wait at least 20-30 minutes every time. Not prepared and managed properly obviously. If you've got the time to wait it is nice though but poor service.

Terrible service waited 20 mins and they they realised they forgot me. The food was really poor and very small portions. I used as a takeaway but won't go back there as overpriced and terrible food

Done a takeaway and it was terrible. Took our order then waited for 20 mins and lots of others people came is got served and went so I asked what was happening and they asked me my order and forgot it so waited and finally appeared. Faggots peas and chip were pretty raw and terrible and hardly any chips and the mushy peas had 0 taste as no seasoning was added. I had chicken with added sauce and it was horrible and hardly any chicken and only a few chips. My mum. Had fish n chips her fish was all batter and hardly any chips and it cost us over £30.00 and will never go there again. I did make a complaint but they ignored it. This place has gone down hill as it used to be really good. I will stick with hengrove fishbar

In for our Friday night treat fish and chips very busy tonight but still hot and fresh when we git home (only 2 minutes from shop)

Savaloy been cooked for hours dry and skin like leather, chips were instant heartburn. Will not be returning.

0nce again absolutely shocking customer service again! treated like you are an inconvenience even when it was not busy. Staff more interested in sorting orders for delivery and completely ignoring the customers in the shop. I run a cafe myself and no matter how busy we are our customers always get greeted with a smile and a good morning because at the end of the day they are the people who pay the wages.

2019 original review. Love it here. Never had a bad meal yet. We've been going there a while now. We've never seen any reduction in quality or quantity. Staff are always great. And can have a laugh also. Which is nice because some do look a little unhappy. ☹️ Updated September 2023. Don't go anymore due to the rising cost. Five of us used to go, and it would cost around £45 in total. Two of us went quite recently and paid £28. Which would work out roughly to being an extra £5 for each meal. For fewer chips and the same fish?!?! 😪 It's not really their fault as it's the 'cost of living'. We now prefer cooking our own at home due to this.

It took 20 minuets r to give us our food and the queue was long many people left because of the wait because the workers were making customers stand in the rain

Was the best chip shop years ago, went there last weekend prices are expensive for hardly any chips, silly boxes instead of paper and boy serving put half of the salt shaker on top of fish cake, will never go back again.

Order came to £22 delivered thru just eat waited hour 20mins food was wrapped upon order but left in warmer til collected so when delivered it was dried up so thrown In bin. Order wrapped way too early should have been done when driver arrived. Won't be ordering from here again. £22 wasted 😡😡😡😡

Went in at 7-30 to be told they were shutting at 8 and no more food would be cooked ?..we had curry and chips and to be fair the curry was spot on, the chips were ok but alot of scrappy bits for chips that were freshly cooked.... I'd rate the chips at 5/10.. and the staff need to be a little happier as it is a customer based job and they weren't very inviting.. over all 6/10

You can always guarantee good food, although price's have gotten more expensive

We’ve had fish and chips for years from here. And I’ve never not been happy. However, last night we had 2 large fish and chips meals and it was awful. The fish was so dry inside. The chips were horrendous. So greasy and when you bit into them the Greece ran out. It was like they were triple dipped but the potatoes just absorbed the Greece. Couldn’t eat it. Wd we’re so disappointed.

Very busy today, restaurant packed. Not surprised with the great food coming out. You can always rely on good, tasty meals at Crispies. The large cod I had was done perfectly. Crispy and golden with nicely cooked chips. The first choice I choose for great meal.

Gone in for a kids meal. Sausage, chips, and a drink.. £3.50, decent portion size for a 2 year old and his old man who likes to nick a few chips.

This used to be a good local chip shop but now they serve telephone orders and just eat delivery drivers and ignore the local customers queueing 20 deep outside .this seems to be the norm at most takeaway venues these days. It's a shame

Went in at 7.50 on a Sat night only to be told they have ran out of food !!

Had breakfast today with my son. He had a double while I had a single without the egg or mushrooms did ask if I could have an extra sausage. They charged me £1.75 for that sausage. The difference in price between a single and a double was just £1.45 but didn’t see any prices for the sausage and the person on the till didn’t bother to help. The tea for two was the price of two single pots and the same size as I’ve had in the past for a single pot so £1.75 for an empty cup. Won’t be rushing back.

So the food was good however the lady doing the cooking was clearly not happy about cooking a halloumi burger tutting and mumbling

I have used Mr Crispies in whitchurch since it opened.usually very happy, but the last 3 times the fish batter has been digusting, thought we'd keep trying to give them the benefit. I will definately not be going there again. Total waste of ou pensioners money. batter was like mush!! I would have like to see a complaint site but no luck!!

Waited for quite some time whilst the staff were busy arguing amongst themselves there was No organisation at all….staff walking around and not acknowledging customers. no customer service at all the staff was very rude, the girl serving kept telling the customers to wait while she sorted out her argument with the other staff I will not return any time soon and I hope that girl didn't return to work she did not deserve to have a job she was rude and had no customer service skills.

Waited patiently for quite some time whilst the staff were busy arguing amongst themselves about wether or not the young girl serving had asked for a small cod! It ended with the young girl announcing that she didn’t need the job and wasn’t coming back after her shift finished! No organisation at all….staff walking around and not acknowledging customers ….. no customer service at all. When I finally got to the counter just as I was about to give my order the young girl serving me and said wait!… I’ve got to sort this out… that was enough for me I said don’t bother and walked out! I haven’t been there for quite some time as I had found some staff members very rude. Definitely won’t be returning anytime soon.

I really want to know when the cafe part shuts pls put it on the website or somewhere

Very good chip shop and have always enjoyed their food. Only thing that lets them down is they can be very slow to make your food once it's been ordered. They seem to have plenty of staff but they just need to speed up.

Tried twice now both poor experience, rude staff, wait time 20mins for chips/curry x1 Very overpriced in comparison to other chippies in the area. Food was ok but nothing you can't get else where. Also they seem to make up the opening times as they please today its 8pm, clearly says on signs 9pm.

Sometimes the food can be amazing, other times it can be a bit 'meh'. The staff are friendly, though it can get really busy with long waits to be served and (like everywhere) the prices have been steadily rising so its now almost £4 for a large chips.

I thought I'd try this fish bar again, as the first time, and what was supposed to be the last time, was about a year ago, having a rubbish experience - I thought I'd give then the benifit of the doubt, as it was nearly closing time. So, immediate impressions upon arriving at the shop, "total caos!" People running around behind the counter, not knowing what they were doing, showing a total lack of leadership! Consequently, the wait to even get served was an horrendous amount of time. I ordered small cod and chips, mushy, peas and curry sauce. When I opened the box at home to eat, aesthetically it looked like something you wouldn't feed the dog! The chips were limp and full of fat, there wasn't any texture to the batter, making it look like breaded crumbs, tasting like it aswell, with no crunch, with the cod being dry to the point I was having to drink copious amount of water to compensate for a dry mouth. The peas were nearly opaques, giving the impression that they'd been stewed, and the curry nearly tasteless. For £11 something, I would've expected greater things.

It's was a very good place to eat fish and chips

The opening times seem to differ from Google. Google says closing 9pm when I went Saturday they close at 8pm. 8pm on a SATURDAY!!! really!!! And they seem to close the grill an hour before they close. I went at 7.45. So when I want a burger they say they already closed this part of their service.

Purchased two childrens fish and chips and was very disappointed. Very small portions of tasteless fish. Including batter, it was barely two mouthfuls. I live locally but it will be a long time before I go back.

We dine in most times we visit. Excellent food and plenty of food. Very good value, thank you.

Went in at 7.45 website says you close at 9pm Was told there were no chips left. Before being told I was made to wait 5 minutes whilst the girl served the guy in front. She could have told me sooner but instead let me stand and wait. Never experienced such poor and rude service

Fresh food that tastes good. Reasonably priced and have a sit in restaurant too. We don't eat in though.

Hi folks, if it's fish and chips you fancy, take my advice and enjoy griddled cod and freshly cooked chips in the pleasant restaurant -- yummy carn't wait for my next senior priced treat, enjoy!!

Waited 25 mins for sausage and chips and then messed up order .no organisation, no one wearing hair nets or beard nets. Long wait times people queing for ages and expensive . Not the best I've tested .. don't wastes your time or money ..

Having been a big fan of the Brislington branch before it closed we decided to try this one, what a foolish thing to do! The Young’s lady who was serving us was a new trainee being shown by a rude old hand, the other shop used to cook to order, but this time the fish was ready straight away, the older hand put both bits of fish straight into a box in such a way you couldn’t see what you were getting! We took our order home and as soon as I opened the box and seen the state of the fish I would be kind to say it had been from lunchtimes leftovers, more like last nights! The fish batter was a very dark colour as if it had been stood on the hot plate for days, when I tore it in two there was grease seeping out into the cardboard box like a tap, not just a little bit, the chips albeit the portion size was good, they were the blandest I have tasted. The price here is expensive so you expect to get freshly cooked, this certainly wasn’t fresh. The queue behind me was quite long so I wished I had been at the back so I could get fresh, the locals obviously know the score. Avoid this place like the plague.

Never seem to be open until they say they are on their website (9pm). If you do manage to find them open after 8pm, they never seem very pleased to have our custom. Won't be bothering again - the Dragon Chef at Belland Drive is a better option.
