Crepe and Shake in Epping Forest

I'm not sure how this place got such a high rating, but maybe the locals have never been to a good brunch spot. The interior of the restaurant is very knackered and looks outdated, the tables are bunched together and isnt much space. The service is ok as it is a family run place. However the food is literally bang average, wouldnt return.

Delicious as always - went with family and friends who were all supper impressed. Of course the owners were as lovely and welcoming as ever 🥰🥞🧇🥞🧇🥞🧇

Went to Crepe and Shake for a casual lunch date with a couple of friends and had the best experience, amazing food, friendly staff and very nice service.

Knew this place would be popular as everytime i passed, it was packed, despite there being a large number of cafes in Waltham Abbey. Pleased we managed to get an outside table for breakfast and wasnt dissapointed. The lady who served us was very friendly and helpful. Service was quick. Great coffee and the savoury pancakes were delicious. Shame we live so far away as would definitely return.

Friendly staff serving good food. Not only is it delicious with healthy options it is very well presented. This is my local cafe where you can sit out in the sunshine and people watch with a smile. Just fabulous ❤

Brought some friends to visit WA today and of course had to stop in our favourite cafe. They LOVED IT! we have best best, yummiest time as usual too. Perfect 10/10

So much variety and such amazing crepes you’ll find it hard choosing which one to have. I can never decide so I have to order one to eat in and one to takeaway it is that good. Would definitely advise trying one of the shakes they make with chocolate bars. Owner and staff are worth their weight in gold also!

Personally, to me this restaurant redefined the normal standards of the industry. It’s more like your mother cooking in the kitchen and bringing in the freshest possible food as soon as they are ready to the table to feed her children. The quality of the food was unbelievably good and the options available on the menu was very impressive without making it a 100-page menu. I really like to wish this family run restaurant all the best and hope to see them grow. If it doesn’t impact the demand, they should consider increasing the prices by at least 10-20% as the current prices does not justify the quality and quantity they are offering.

Come here regularly for my smoothies banana and blueberries or only berries I also like the sweet crepe with Nutella and banana their omelettes are also very nice! Will be back

We stopped here for breakfast on the way to London . Lovely coffee, great service and vegan crepes The non vegans also enjoyed the standard banana and Nutella crepes.

Visited Waltham Abbey briefly, so decided to stop and get a banana milkshake take out......All I can say is it is just a banana angel delight in a cup, it was too thick to even use a straw.....I like angel delight but not as a drink......will not be returning!!!

This is a lovely family-run cafe that I go into regularly. Sometimes, I just go in for a lovely fresh orange juice or a coffee, other times I have one of their delicious savoury crepes, a jacket potato with salad, a tasty omelette or a Greek salad if I'm trying to be super-healthy! :) I've always found the food and service to be great! I'm looking forward to trying the sweet crepes!I'm glad I managed to find and use these photos that I've taken on my phone from some of my visits!

I recently came here with my girlfriend for some tasty food, and we weren’t disappointed the food is really nice.My order got a little muddled up due to the place being really busy for one waitress but she did a fantastic job and fixed the mistake as fast as she could.Will definitely be back!

I ordered a banana milkshake which did not appear and a gluten free crepe with strawberries that took over half an hour. When I asked about it at the counter I was shouted at 1loudly enough for my daughter to hear it across the shop. Disgusting behaviour. Then a grudging half apology...and you know exactly where you can stick that!

After having a lovely day out in the Abbey gardens we decided to go for a nice milkshake. Entering this shop was a mistake. One of our milkshakes never appeared and after half an hour of waiting when asked about it we got shouted at by a guy in a red shirt. It was uncalled for and extremely rude. We have been in this shop before and was a pleasant experience when different staff are on shift. If you go in and see a tall man with olive colour skin just walk away because he will ruin your day.

As a coeliac I struggle to find gluten free crepes but I love savoury crepes so this place is great for me. Friendly service as well.

One of the best crepes I have had. Thin and light with strawberries, banana and nutella. Yummy sugar fix! The owners are also really lovely. Highly recommended.

Had jacket potatoes with various toppings that included a side salad. Both were really nice and generous portions. Then had a strawberry crepe to share, was huge and delicious!All was excellent and very good value for money. Great service too.Really a place to recommend.

We were booked into see Aladdin at the Lee Valley Odeon and wanted to grab a bite to eat beforehand, so dashed into Crepe and Shakes for a quick lunch.It's a small and cosy place, which is clearly family-friendly. The decor is lovely and there are some fabulous sketches adorning the walls, which we later learned were drawn by the brother of our server (so talented!). The menu encompasses both savoury and sweet crepes, as well as other options like paninis and waffles. We opted for a savoury crepe to start with, with a sweet one to follow.The staff are lovely and very friendly. The food is cooked fresh and from scratch almost in front of your eyes, and the portions are generous and well-filled. We were both satisfied after our savoury course but still wanted to try the sweet, which was equally fresh and delicious. Altogether we paid about £25 for two crepes each and left feeling very full and very happy.The service is great, the cost is low, the speed is quick and the food is good and honest. We'll definitely pop back in should we be in the area!

Had a lovely lunch here at the only place in Waltham Abbey that advertises gluten free food. Had a Panini and a Blueberry and banana pancake. This was the first gluten free pancake I had eaten and it was delicious. The staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. I highly recommend this lovely cafe. Will definately go back if in the area again.

Not only are the crepes and shakes sensational the owners are awesome. In fact I sometimes stop by just to see them. They never fail to make me feel welcome and they have brilliant personalities. This stop has a real local authentic feel and I can't recommend it enough.

Have been here before and came back today. The service is even better the menu changed a bit. Here you are more than welcome to have just tea or coffee and the best think is you go out and do not smell of onion and beans in fact the smell is of Nutella and fresh orange juice. Had a fresh orange and grapefruit juice which was lovely made in front of me.

An excellent small friendly clean little cafe in the center of Waltham Abbey... Very tasty American breakfast with pancakes, eggs, and bacon.. really tasty... and my son enjoyed his pancake too...The milkshakes and Gingerbread latte was excellent too.

We had a lovely savoury crepe. Mozzarella and spinach and mozzarella and ham. So tasty, the only problem I ate it before I took a picture. The lady serving was so friendly. Will definitely come again

Come here quite a lot over the last 5 years with my children, for crepes, slushes and ice creams. The banana boat is so tasty and the crepes are out of this world!! The owners are some of the kindest people I’ve met. They are very welcoming, engage with the kids, they welcome dogs to th outside seating area and also have free WiFi.

Have been in this crepe shop few times as it’s local..The staff are friendly and helpful, on a few occasions I ordered plain crepes, no sugar or syrup and so they served up my crepes with lovely fresh strawberries which were delicious. If you are in the area and not really interested in a full English or a heavy meal then go to Crepe and Shake. Warning.... they can be very filling and moreish.

I visit here regularly for the mozzarella, tomato and pesto crepe, usually with cheeky added mushrooms. Always lovely! Friends say good things about the sweet crepes too. The panini are fairly standard and the coffee's good. A local business that's well worth supporting.

I visited here today with my lively children. There was a little kitchen and play food which my girls adored. The staff were attentive and very kind, especially when my 3 year old poured her drink everywhere.

We were around for a few days visit and decided to go to this place for brunch. The place isn’t so friendly and the service was excellent!!!

Ordered coffee and toasted sandwich. Service was very friendly. Unfortunately the toasted sandwich tasted like something else had been stuck or cooked on the same grill. During eating, the lady that served us was smoking outside, and put out her cigarette in the ashtray, then came in. That put me off a bit unfortunately. As I said , service is very friendly though.

As always when we visit here, we had a fabulous time. Food was perfect, we had a waffle, 2 crepes and a breakfast with soft drinks and coffees - all totally lovely.

We went here for lunch after visiting the Royal Gunpowder Mills and we are so pleased we did! The lady serving was friendly and there so much to choose from on the menu. Everything we had was just amazing - the chocolate milkshakes (proper ones, not nesquik in milk you get from some places) were the best we have had anywhere. The savoury crepes - delicious and even the salad was tasty (olives, feta, tomato, cucumber, lettuce). The nutella and strawberry crepe was huge and enjoyed by son. We loved this place and it is such a shame we don't live closer as otherwise we would be there every week.

We come here quite often when we are in the Abbey. All my family love this place. Owners are very friendly and the lady always chat with us, which is a nice touch. Food is delicious especially the sweet crepes and omelettes. They have a little kids area to keep the young kids busy. When busy expect longer wait, but no problem all the food is made to order so we are happy to wait.

Delighted by this little creperie in Waltham Abbey. Friendly welcome, delicious and very generous-sized savoury crepe with ham, mozzarella and spinach with a salad. Good value, pleasant surroundings and will definitely return to try some more of the options. Would recommend highly.

Came here with my daughter, who love waffles. We had the Nutella and strawberry one, which was crispy well cooked and delicious. Coffee also very nice and strong, definitely not a cheap brand. Will visit again.

Been here yesterday. Had a sweet crepe with Nutella and banana. It was very tasty. They got savoury as well. All of them look very tempting. When i could will be back again. Definitely recommended to everyone in the area to try them.

My brother had been into the shop to have crepes and a coffee and called me to say they had Gluten Free options, which I didn't know, as I can assure you I would have been in earlier. I have coeliac disease and need to stick to a Gluten Free diet. I had family down and, my Aunt who has severe IBS, decided that we must try this shop out ! So in we marched with the mouth already watering at the prospect of a crepe, a Gluten free one at that, and sat down to look at the menu. I was so over whelmed with the choices and then I saw the Waffles, I asked if they could also be Gluten Free and when they said yes I could have cried. Never had a waffle before and I'm 40 + of age ! I ordered a waffle with Strawberry's, blueberries and banana with proper Maple Syrup (not the fake stuff which is very yuk) and my Aunt had a Ham and Cheese crepe. Both were cooked to perfection and just amazing. They did explain it was used on the same equipment used for the gluten full food and did I need It cleaning before they did mine, but as a one off I said it was ok. I ordered a strawberry milkshake and was asked if it needed to be dairy free or anything and was again really pleased by the options given. While we were eating My aunt asked if they did food to take out and she ordered a all day breakfast crepe for my uncle who had stayed at home, he said it was an amazing, was delicious and very filling and still hot. I will be visiting again and again for these waffles.

Last week we visited here, my nephew had been in the previous day for an all day breakfast crepe which he said was amazing and had spotted the gluten free items on the menu. My niece has coeliac disease and I have severe Ibs so the next day we decided to visit. The staff were brilliant and made our gluten free options fresh on the spot also warning that the food would be cooked on the same equipment as the wheat based foods, which was not too much of a problem for us as a one off. Also offered dairy free options on the milkshakes. I had a ham and cheese crepe which was hot and delicious. My niece had a waffle with strawberries banana and blueberries with maple syrup. She had never had a waffle before and was thrilled. We shared a taste of each others meal and they were both lovely light and tasty. while we were eating I asked if they did food to take out and they cooked me a standard all day crepe for my husband who had chosen to stay at home, he said it was amazing bacon cheese egg etc the crepe was delicious and very filling and still hot.

I've been coming to Crepe and Shake for about 2 years for lunch. The do great paninis and really tasty shakes.

Today myself and my partner decided to pop in for lunch as we have been meaning to go since moving locally. This is experience is one I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Unfortunately there were no seats outside so we went and took a seat inside, the heat was stifling and no acknowledgement of us entering was made nether the less we took a seat and made our choices. I then proceeded to go to the counter to order taking the menu with me. I began to order with the man behind the counter again no greeting was made and as I began to order he almost seemed hostile and distracted by the crepe cooking behind him. I ordered my boyfriend's all day breakfast crepe no salad then ordered my own crepe pointing out the option and asking for the chicken cheese and sweetcorn and asked if I could add bacon (it does state on the menu you can create your own) he rudely stated this would be more to which I replied thats not a problem. I also ordered 2 milkshakes. During this time he turnt his back on me 3 times. He then turnt again and I asked whether I needed to pay now or at the end to which he responded "the end I am in the middle of something" again very rudely. I had been in the shop no longer than 5 minutes and already wanted to leave. Shortly after a seat became available outside and so we moved there to drink our milkshakes, the only enjoyable part of our experience. After 15 minutes the man serving came out with our food. He placed my boyfriends crepe down and proceeded to place a panini in front of me. I said "sorry I ordered it as a crepe" to which he turnt around and said "no you said panini" in the most aggressive manner and stormed off with my plate. My appetite completely disappeared and so I followed him inside and said "not to bother with anything I no longer wanted to eat there", he said "no I will remake it but you said panini" to which I stressed that he "need not bother you have been rude and I do not want to eat here" not once did I raise my voice unfortunately the same could not be said for him. I then went to sit with my boyfriend who was also completely stunned and said we should leave. As to not antagonize the situation further he toyed and ate half his crepe which was overcooked and then we decided to leave and pay. The man then tried to overcharge us for salad we had said no to. He offered a rather passive aggressive sorry to which I responded that it was not necessary we would not be returning after he had been so rude. I have never had such an upsetting experience when going out to eat and will not be returning.

We go there regularly for coffee and crepes. On the sunny side of Sun Street, there is always a warm welcome from Nevi and Stephan at Crepe and Shake. We have also had lovely salads, toasties and delicious warm scones with butter & jam!Highly recommended.

We stopped here for lunch during a family day out to Waltham Abbey.We experienced excellent service,the lady even noticed we were in the sun a little bit so adjusted the awning outside for us.The kids had the Nutella and banana crepe which they loved and we had a mix of crepes and paninis which were all delicious. Lovely welcome,service and food. Would really recommend.

I went to visit this place today after reading the reviews on here and I wasn't disappointed. Lovely crepes made to perfection with a large selection of sweet and savoury toppings/fillings. The service was good service and the owner was very welcoming.... I will be returning soon.

I had a chicken, sweetcorn and mayo crepe, they requested with cheese which I was happy with. I also had a chocolate and banana protein shake which was also great. Very pleasant atmosphere and the owners were very cheerful. Would definitely recommend!!

We visited this cute little cafe today on a whim as we walked through town. We were torn between dishes as there was a wide selection of both sweet & savoury. We finally settled on 2 courses so had both. Fantastic, caring service. Definitely recommend.

Took my other half here, she loved it! I had a savory crepe. Have to say that it was a bit pricey but good all the same. Nice staff and clean place.

We eat here on the odd occassion, its a bit pricey but ok, the lady who runs it is quite nice but the male could have a better nature and possibly be a bit nicer with a tad more of a nicer attitude! Then maybe we would return more often! The fold is pretty good, and at busy times could be more staff on to speed up service but all in all its ok.

Absolutely love this place. I always go for a savory crepe, usually Egg, Ham and Cheese. Was reluctant to change from my standard lemon and sugar but so glad I did. It is kid friendly and the staff are so welcoming.

Literally love this place! I've been twice so far and on both times I felt really welcomed by staff and enjoyed both my meals. The last time I had a Nutella and Banana crepe for breakfast it was amazing! I'm looking forward to my next visit where I'm gonna try a savoury crepe. The milkshakes are spot on as well so glad to have Crepe and Shake in the Abbey I recommend it to everyone!

I live close by and sometimes I like to go with friends or family there. Always great service, delicious food and lovely coffee. I am a mom of two and really appreciate that they have kids' corner with lots of toys so I can enjoy my pancakes while my little ones play. Definitely would recommend!

Until we found Crepe & Shake last year, we rarely had savoury pancakes. Since then we have been as a couple for coffee & lunch almost every week, and have tried most of the delicious fillings on the menu, and then some (you can invent your own). I think our favourites are 'salmon & tomato' and 'tuna & sweet corn'. We enjoy our lunches there so much that we have also booked tables for family get-together celebrations. The management is very flexible, and can always cater for those with special needs, dietary or otherwise. Great food and great service in a relaxed informal setting. Thanks Nevy & Stephan!

I come here now and again as it's my favourite place for crepes. I usually go for ham and cheese! Great service, the food is really good, and it's a great place for kids!

This was the first time, but not the last that i have been here, the savoury and sweet pancakes are really nice, the cafe itself is small and seems to be a meeting point fir a coffee, chat and a creative snack.Ask them for what you want in a crepe, dont be shy, the menu is just a guide, and they are happy to do your crepe just how you want it.

Me and my partner both had savoury crepes!! They were so yummy!! They came with a little side salad and was exactly what we wanted for lunch!! The cappuccinos were great aswell!! They accomodated for my partner's daughter brilliantly, bringing some water and a kid's plate and fork! They also have loads of toys that kept her entertained!! It was so good we went back a week later!!

I went with members of my family while in Waltham Abbey. It is just a small place with a couple of tables outside as well. I had a lemon and sugar pancake which tasted just like the way my mother made them ( and they were the best ). My granddaughter had a snickers smoothie, and she was so impressed. The other food and coffees were great, and the owner was very friendly and created a nice warm feeling about the whole place. Don't pass it by pop in for a treat.

We went to attend King Harold's festival at the local park and stopped at this brightly-coloured and friendly place where they totally changed my perception of crepes - the savoury ones are a brilliant idea but we couldn't go without a sweet one either - never thought I would be that amazed by a mere pancake.

Place was full with mums and young kids. They have tables outside, so you can sit and enjoy a coffee on Sun Street. Do not miss that place.

We stopped off in Waltham Abbey as we were visiting the nearby white water rafting centre and wanted a quick sugar hit - this was absolutely perfect! We shared a banana and nutella crepe (£4) which had just enough of everything and was sprinkled in icing sugar with a berry banana smoothie (£3.50) - both were delicious! Friendly service, would definitely recommend.

Good selection of ice creams, and lots of reasonably priced items on the menu. Well located in the middle of the pedestrian high st.

Liked the look of this for a change. Had a sweet crepe and hot chocolate for breakfast very nice. Lots to choose from and good prices. Had a catch up chat but will go again when next in Waltham Abbey.

We came in here at lunch. The menu is not big, but enough. You can choose from sweet or savoury crepes, omelettes, paninins or salad. We had waffles with fresh fruit and maple sirup. They were delicious and we will be back to try all of them, especially the Oreo and ice cream waffle. The owner lady was very friendly and was making sure, that everything is Ok. The coffee was also a proper cappuchino, very strong.

Their crepes are good but I've definitely had better. The place doesn't look very clean, the tables and chairs aren't too comfortable. When we were there someone must have burnt something in the kitchen and the whole place was filled with smoke, making our eyes very watery. The staff members however, were nice and helpful.

This is quite an unassuming place but, with a large choice on the menu, great for a tasty snack lunch.There are a few tables and chairs outside (Sun Street is now a pedestrian precinct.), so one can enjoy the fresh air and the atmosphere of this lovely old town while eating.
