Great location at the head of Loch Creran but weather not suitable for outside sitting! However we got an excellent table with panoramic views of the loch. Excellent & friendly front of house staff & also the chef who popped by, We enjoyed the cured salmon starter which we loved followed by seafood linguine & fish pie, Recommend both.

We visited this restaurant on a gorgeous sunny evening and it was just beautiful sitting on the deck overlooking the loch in the sunshine. Food was good - decent portions but maybe slightly pricey but overall a great experience. Parking available and the restaurant itself was immaculate and nicely furnished/decorated. All staff friendly and efficient. Dog friendly too which is a bonus with water bowls provided for dogs. Would highly recommend.

We stopped at the Creagan Inn for an evening meal a few weeks back - there were 7 of us - everyone was really happy with their meal - and there were fussy eaters amongst us! The Cullen Skink was really tasty, great fish and chips, and scrumptious seafood pasta- all tastes catered for. Good range of beers and craft ales too. The staff were really lovely, highly recommend this lovely spot if you are in the area.

Having changed our journey because the A82 was closed, we were hoping to find a decent place to stop and eat. We felt so lucky to find the Creagan Inn with one last table. The menu offered a good range of great food and specials. Scallops were fabulous as was Cullen Skink and pork loin, washed down with wines from an extensive drinks menu. The only downside was that the gentleman behind the bar wasn't too welcoming but the rest of the serving staff were friendly, courteous and couldn't do enough for us. The view from the pub over the loch was unbeatable.

GREAT VIEW, SHAME ABOUT THE SERVICE. When you have booked a table but turn up early and see several empty tables with a view but the the waitress tries to seat you in the hall next to the toilets. We said we would rather have a view, the waitress makes you wait until the reservation time despite the same several empty tables sitting 30 minutes. Left after being really badly treated despite living locally compared to tourists as one time visitors. No wonder the same tables were still empty when we left, we won’t be back either!

We actually were there in August 2022 while visiting from Canada. I've been meaning to write a review since then because we still haven't stopped talking about the Creagan Inn - one of the best meals I've ever had. There were 10 of us and every single one of us absolutely loved the food - the service was excellent as well. Two of our party had oysters and have said that they are spoiled now and can't order oysters here anymore - another said the same about the scallops. I had a mushroom toast that I still dream about, it was SO good. We were in Scotland for a month and this was one of the top highlights of our whole trip. I can't wait to go back again.

I've been here years ago and had good memories so was looking forward to a nice solo meal. I should have stayed in my campsite and cooked for myself. I had the scallops large plate. They arrived suspiciously fast. Each scallop had a slightly coloured top which turned out to be unchewable. The rest of it was poor - very soft and wet. They did not look like they should if served straight from the pan with a crisp seared top. They were presented on a deeply unpleasant mushy pea porridge with about a teaspoon of black pudding crumb. The waiter agreed with me the pea base wasn't nice but that was it. He said he told the chef. No apology. I paid the bill after refusing the service charge and beat a hasty retreat to my campsite for biscuits and cheese. Won't be returning!

Everything about our visit was fantastic, to the point that I felt I must leave this review to counter some of the negative ones we read before our visit. We were on holiday nearby and looking for a different restaurant for lunch and planned to visit the Creagan Inn, but having read the reviews on here we were put off. So we drove about 8 miles to check it out before committing (we were going to have a family cycle to lunch). Everything looked ok and we booked a table. Our cycle was longer than expected, so we arrived a little late for our booking, but this was not an issue and we were seated at a window table with beautiful view over the bay (it was a bit windy to sit outside). The two young men running the bar and floor were very helpful (if a little busy) and service was speedy. The food was excellent all round - clean plates for adults and kids. Do not be put off by the negative reviews - some people will find fault in anything. This place is great and well worth going out your way for a meal here.

I can’t recommend the Creagan Inn highly enough. The views are stunning but the welcome is also very friendly too. We turned up with four dogs but that wasn’t a problem at all, we all sat outside very happily. The food was really excellent too. It’s unpretentious pub food but done very well. Everyone in our group was happy and full. Definitely worth a trip out from Oban. Places like this deserve to succeed!

Great quality and value. We are local and go out for lunches every week. Creagan Inn is a place we hadn't been to for a while, mainly because we had been disappointed the previous couple of times. This was a year or more ago and we thought we would try it again. It has changed ownership since we last went and what a difference. It is back on our lunch "circuit". What a fabulous meal we had. Not inexpensive, but for what we had it was great value. Ham, egg and chips was the best I have had in a restaurant. Lovely, huge and tender ham slice at least 15mm thick, and 2 eggs along with tomato and peas. So much I had difficulty in eating it. We also had the fish with cheesy mash and pork steaks, all superb. Didn't have room for deserts, but i am sure they were great. Lots of local produce. The service was good and there is the opportunity to sit outside if the weather is good. Will be going here again soon!

Firstly, the setting for the restaurant is picturesque by Loch Creran. Lots of lovely outdoor seating to take in all the views although a little too nippy for us today! On the menu it clearly states dietary requirements will be catered for and to ask the waiter. The chef came out to talk to me and advise what I could/ could not have which made me feel so at ease (people with intolerances will understand!) There were so many options for starter, main and pudding that I could have! The chef made me feel like nothing was too much trouble as you are sometimes made to feel with intolerances. I went for pea and ham soup (delicious!) which was served with a gluten free roll and then the gluten free fish and chips which were divine! The other five members of our party also thoroughly enjoyed their options. The service was warm and friendly. We will be returning next year for our annual trip up for the Scottish 6 day trial. Wish we lived nearer!

Holidaying in the Oban area, we have visited the Creagan Inn 4 times in the last week. Lunch has been lovely and good value for money. Stopped off today for afternoon coffee and scones, absolutely appalled to be charged £2.00 for a little tub of jam to accompany the mediocre scone. £2.75 for scone without jam. £4.75 with jam. When I asked the owner how he could justify £2.00 for a small pot of jam, he started ranting about the cost of running his business. I love to support local businesses, but do not like being ripped off. I will NOT be back.

As a local resident, I realise the new owners of this venue are still trying to find their feet and so am inclined to cut them a bit of slack. We tried here not long after they took over and, while then a fairly extensive menu, the quality of the food disappointed. Yesterday, we tried again to find the menu very much reduced in choice. If you’re presenting a small menu (and it was) then you must do what you do very well. This was emphatically not the case - very basic presentation and poorly presented plate with little or no thought as to garnish or finishing touches. The fish was fresh enough but with rather greasy batter, skimpy on the chips with a tiny side bowl of mushy peas and another of tartar sauce. The price (£15) was not reflected in this ‘school dinnerish’ presentation. Others in our party had the other three menu choices and were equally if not more disappointed! These owners will have to pull their socks up of they hope to encourage year-round trade because, although they have the benefit of the holiday chalets nearby, they cannot afford to ignore local trade and I cannot help but think others will feel as we do and prefer to travel a bit further for their eating-out. Come on guys, you can do better!

Overall a good meal for each of us. It took a while to queue and order at the bar, but the staff were very friendly and helpful, apologetic that they were short-staffed, and it really didn't matter in the end. The food was generally good, although I'd have to confirm it was on the pricey side for what it was (purely based on the fact that I had venison again later on in the vacation, and it wasn't close to the cost). It was all very good quality though, and served piping hot and fresh from the kitchens.

The restaurant was quite busy so we expected a bit of a wait, but the drinks came really quickly, and the food was not far behind. The menu was varied and there was plenty of choice. We were heading back South towards Oban and thought this looked like quite a nice place to stop. They had a few free tables on a terrace area that would be perfect for watching the sun set over Morvern later that evening. We ordered some food from quite an extensive menu, there was also a specials board with additional options. I had a Haddock Burger, battered haddock with chips and salad etc my wife had a Vegetarian Burger which was macaroni and sweet potato on a bin again with chips and salad. Both of these from the specials board. We spent a very pleasant few hours eating and watching the sunset here and would suggest that if you are passing it is well worth stopping and enjoying some food and looking at some stunning scenery. There are tables inside and out and the menu offered many options including a range of vegetarian meals.

Stopped for a quick cup of coffee and wished we’d been able to stay longer. Menus looked lovely. Staff friendly and helpful taking photos of our party. Best bit was the beautiful view out over the water from the terraces and other outdoor seating.

we had lunch on 6th August, outside in lovely weather. The food was wonderful, some of the best scallops I have eaten, and the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. We couldn't fault it at all, and will certainly be going back next time we are down that way.

I booked a table here a few months in advance after looking at website. Unfortunately I was a little disappointed as the menu was limited on Tuesday which I wasn’t aware of when I booked. I ordered the quorn tacho, the quorn itself was tasteless and needed seasoning. The rest of my family said their food was nice. Staff were all or nothing, hovered over us until we scanned track and trace but then never came to see if food ok or ask if we would like desert or coffees. The inn itself is in a beautiful location and the views over the water made up for everything else.

Just to say that this is an excellent place for Vegan choices. We eat there twice and on the small, lunchtime menu there were no less than four Vegan options! Quite simply the Crispy Tofu sticks we amazing - I liked them so much I had them the second time we came back. To be highly recommended in every department.

We had an excellent lunch here and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Creagan Inn. The location is stunning - especially if you're lucky enough to have good weather as we did. The service is friendly without being too intrusive. And the food was excellent too as well as reasonably priced. Some of our party had visited in the past under old management. They loved it then and still love it now.Restaurants like this deserve to be visited and deserve to do well, especially through tough times like these.

Seven adults enjoyed tasty vegan, fish and meat evening meals on the ‘Tuesday night’ menu. The battered tofu was an unexpected 1st class surprise and, of the pizzas ordered, can fully recommend the two tone pizza. The hostess and service was very good, food arrived quickly. The view over the loch was amazing and would definitely return for another visit.

We were staying a short walk away so visited twice. Once for drinks and again for a meal. Service was quite slow when we went for drinks but the restaurant was busy and most establishments are running slower than normal now that everywhere is opening back up. We were sitting on the lower level outside so easy to miss us. Either way it was a gorgeous hot and sunny night with a beautiful view. Returned a few nights later for a meal and everything was delicious, couldn’t fault the food at all. Would definitely visit again when we’re back in the area.

Popped in for a pizza and a drink with the family. Staff couldn’t have been more attentive or pleasant. After our meal we grabbed a couple of desserts after being recommended one by the lady that looked after us. Considering how rough the last year has been for the trade everyone had a smile on their face, and didn’t seem out of practice so kudos to them. Cannot recommend enough

The service at this place is horrendous. No body comes to attend to you once you've eventually placed your order. You're left to fend for yourself, not asked how your meal is or if you want desert, the waitress collected our plates and walked off without a word. The best thing that happened to us was we emailed a Complaint in and got a rude, abusive response from the looney owner, which I've attached. Customer service is not a priority, just making money is. This is a truthful review and I would recommend giving this place a miss.

Me and my husband enjoyed an evening meal here while on holiday in the area. We had heard that it has recently changed owners/management and seen some negative comments on here recently, but as they seemed to be from people that had visited under the previous management and comparing it we were not phased as we hadn’t visited the restaurant before. What we found was very friendly and attentive staff, quick service, a varied and affordable menu and very tasty food - the portion sizes were decent as well. I had the cheese burger with onion rings and fries and my husband had the fish and chips. We both enjoyed our main courses and in particular the hand-cut chips. We then both had the apple and blackberry crumble with ice cream, which was also very good. We hope that this restaurant thrives and that any issues or bad vibes from locals are resolved…our experience of the food and the staff was faultless. Such a beautiful setting as well!

We stayed nearby in a campsite and came here for lunch today. We both had the tacos, husband had chicken and I had fish, and they were absolutely delish. Especially the fish. Smoked haddock tempura goujons. Initially the greeter was a bit standoff-ish, but to be expected in today’s climate, and then we had the delight of comedy from a gentleman who worked there. I’m sad to say I didn’t get his name because he well and truly made the experience as delightful as those fish tacos. It’s on a lovely spot looking over the water and I look forward to returning again soon.

We went here a few nights ago. Staff were so kind and accommodating however unfortunately there were lots and lots of wasps in the restaurant. We ordered our food which was a little pricy, I got the pizza. Unfortunately the “katsu tofu sticks” my granddaughter got, which she was looking forward too were a huge disappointment. The tofu wasn’t seasoned at all and there was no katsu? Just fried tofu with ketchup in the side. The fries were good but unfortunately this was a real letdown considering it was over £10. The meals also came in cardboard boxes with dry lettuce. Not great…We will come back for sure and don’t want to discourage efforts to incorporate vegan options as these are welcomed, however the food still needs to taste good.

We chanced our luck on a miserable rainy day and we got a table with a view. The restaurant was extremely busy to the point where they did have to turn people away. We were informed that there was only 2 people in the kitchen and we may have a wait, but we had no where to be and was content to wait. The food was amazing, credit to the personnelIn the kitchen. The staff were welcoming, informative and very pleasant under busy circumstances. We had our dog and there was no fuss and he was given water on arrival. This is a great venue - try it but maybe want to book ahead, we were lucky!

I call it Debbie's place - you'll know it when you see it! - said several of the locals on Islay. A large group of us visiting the island had spent the morning dotted across it doing various different activities. I'd asked in the brilliant Islay Natural History Trust where locally we could grab lunch and was directed to the Bruichladdich Mini Market. The place itself is run by Debbie, her mum and her sister. It's the ort of place that is the lifeblood of islands the world over - half grocery shop, half cafe - all welcoming. Debbie's sister was in charge when a group of 15 of us rocked up unannounced. This would normally not have been a problem - plenty of outside seating - but that particular day the ferry had been cancelled, along with much of the stock for the shop and cafe. Undeterred the staff there made us feel welcome and pulled together a lunch which went down very well with all - children and adults alike. Think sandwiches and toasties with great coffee and a good choice of cold drinks. They also serve some amazing cakes - I'm told the rocky road was fab, I know the chocolate cake was! Although initially under pressure when we all turned up, the staff seated us happily and we had all eaten within about 15 minutes of arriving.
