Solo pan y algunos embutidos y NUNCA repusieran.

Booked in here for one night . Arrived early evening . Reception was the most unwelcoming area with person on duty totally disinterested . The whole Hotel looked shabby and tired . Rooms were basic . Floorboards made major noise , doors slammed late night and very early morning . ‘ Breakfast ‘ was inedible . Container with what was supposed to be scrambled eggs , when lifted the lid , looked like large chunks of pale rubber floating in water . Bacon had been cooked hours previously and so tough , impossible to eat . This Is the worst hotel I have ever had the misfortune to visit and never will again . To think I actually paid money to stay there is ridiculous.

A mid range hotel that could do with modernisation. Ample car parking and has a lift. There are odd steps as you navigate to your room on the floors probably because it is several buildings joined together. A nice breakfast with fried eggs to order, the evening meals are a tad expensive and not a wow type of meal. If you’re looking just to put your head down after a distillery tour this hotel is ok. The showers were very poor in pressure

Staff were friendly and helpful, service at meals was efficient and quick. Went on bus tour so 3 course evening meal and breakfast were included. Wide range of choice at breakfast, cold and hot food, evening meals were served promptly and by friendly staff. Portion sizes to main meal were a little small (or do I eat bigger than average size portions) and had 3 choices meat, fish or vegetarian. Bedroom was good size although floor boards were very squeaky when people walked in rooms above or along corridor. Nice shower and toilet room facilities fine and generally clean. TV and internet worked 90-95% of time.

We decided to have a short break after the grandkids went back to school. The room was a bit smaller than we would have expected when we saw the grandeur of the outside, but it was clean and pleasant. From the minute that we entered the hotel all the staff were friendly and couldn't do enough to make us feel welcome. The only negative was that the hotel creaked, particularly aware of it during the night. The food was really good and we had a great time. We will be back.

We stayed for just one night last week and enjoyed our short stay. The hotel is located at the end of the long high street in Grantown-on-Spey which is full of independent shops, cafe's and restaurants. Across the road is a park with footpaths to the River Spey and a delightful walk along the river. First impressions were good - nicely decorated lobby and lounge area in a contemporary Scottish style with lots of sofas and seating. This leads to a small bar area and onto the restaurant. Outside is a sizeable garden area with several tables and a water feature. The only parking available is at the front of the hotel and a small area at the back. You need to arrive reasonably early to ensure a space to park. There is a lot of redecorating going on with the ground floor rooms being renovated while we were there. However, our room had not yet been renovated and it was very dated and in great need of a refurb. I guess that's why we got it at such a good rate via Booking.com. The windows were in a bad state of repair and the bathroom was very old fashioned. But it was clean and tidy which is what is important. The beds were comfortable and the pillows were ok. Our room faced the back car park area so was nice and quiet. The shower was absolutely terrible though. No pressure whatsoever and we had to remove the hand shower to rinse off the soap. I was disappointed (and a little annoyed) that the bar service was not table service as is supposed to be the case in Scotland and we had to purchase our drinks at the bar. However, the restaurant service was exceptional. The waiting staff were extremely well trained and were all first class. The chefs must also be well trained because the meal we had was absolutely stunning. It was top-restaurant quality and tasted divine. The flavours exploded in my mouth and the beef was so tender and delicious. Breakfast was also very good. It is table served so no awful buffet. We'd definitely stay at the Craiglynn again if we visit the area, which is likely as we have family in the area.

Didn’t like the idea of not automatically getting your room cleaned every day and fresh towels. The bedroom especially the toilet felt like you were standing on a slant. Car parking facilities not good if you wanted a space you would have to arrive early and not move your car. Menu in restaurant was the same every day which wasn’t very inspiring

We have stayed at the Craiglynne on many occasions during the past 25 years. Perfectly located for walking with lovely park directly opposite and miles of adjacent native woodland to explore. The hotel has only just recently reopened due to Covid restrictions and the hotel is a bit dated but the new owners and staff are trying very hard and we were very impressed with the way things are going the hotel should have a bright future. We stayed on a B&B rate but also had dinner each evening. The waiting staff were excellent and the food was extremely good quality and very well presented. We even braved the beer garden to enjoy a few alcoholic drinks after a winter of lockdown restrictions. We all really enjoyed a very much needed break and will definitely be back in the summer

This was our first trip since lockdown was relaxed and were apprehensive. The hotel has made great efforts however and was very safe regarding social distancing etc. It has recently been taken over and a lot of refurbishment has already been done. It is a huge hotel though and it will take some time and money to get it all completed. Our room was overlooking the garden and was clean and warm, though the toilet/shower were in a cubicle and the sink was in the bedroom. It is years since I've been in a room with a sink!! Not ideal when there is a carpet!1 The food was excellent and really enjoyed evening meal and breakfast. Staff all very cheery and helpful and the open fires were a welcome sight on such a Think this could be a problem in the Summer months if we were staying then due to noise drifting up to the rooms above.cold weekend. It didn't seem to stop the hardy souls using the beer garden though!! All in all a lovely stay and wish the hotel all the best with their coming months.

This is a pretty hotel from the exterior and lobby area. When we arrived for check-in none of the rooms were ready so we had to wait an extra couple of hours for house keeping to get around the hotel. Many other guests were also waiting and they offered us free drinks from the bar during this time. The room itself was nice enough, although very hard bed that you could feel the springs through. The shower didn't work, and after asking hotel staff for help they said they could move us to a different room if we could wait until the next day because all the rooms were full at the moment. We opted to stay where we were for both nights and just had baths instead of using the shower head. However the bath taps were very difficult to work, and the hot one became so hot that it burnt you to touch so you couldn't turn it off without wrapping a towel around your hand. There was no shampoo or shower gel so you need to bring your own with you. Dinners and breakfasts were fine, although they don't offer you any drinks, so if you want one you have to walk to the bar in the next room and order them there. Consequently, hardly any people had drinks with their meals, which seemed like a bit of a missed opportunity for the hotel to make the extra money it needs to renovate the bathrooms ;) Overall we found all the staff to be very pleasant, they are obviously very hard working and are surprisingly cheerful considering what they must have to deal with.

The dining room, like the rest of the hotel, is dated, tired and drab. It has no character whatsoever. We had limited choice for dinner (table d’hote), a result, I suspect, of this being a bus-trip hotel. While the food was passable, the ambiance and service left a great deal to be desired. We caused upset by not ordering our dessert with our starter and main course, by wanting a glass of wine served at the table and not fetching it ourselves from the bar and by wanting coffee at our coffee at the table. We won on the first and second and lost on the third. Breakfast the next morning was little better. The pastry and cereal buffet was sparse, the food Again was passable and the service poor. To add insult to injury, on check-out, we found that the cost of 4 more dinners had been added to our bill. While this was corrected, it symbolized this hotel and its restaurant.

We specifically phone to give 2 weeks notice that it was my birthday and required a table for dinner on the 25th and that we were vegan. When we turned up the staff had no idea and when they sat us down at our table they gave us the 'normal' menu. When we asked staff about the dietary requirements they said they could give us soup or ratatouille. For a birthday dinner? The room was ok, curtains bad stains on them but otherwise ok. We had our dog with us but we're placed in a room at the top of the stairs so we heard everyone coming up the stairs. Which on a few occasions the dog barked, however, not our choice of room with a dog.I had also requested a Vegan Breakfast but judging on the fact they weren't prepared for my birthday dinner the night before we just went to Aviemore to get something.Upon checkout we weren't even asked how our stay was. Disappointed and will not be returning as we paid over £100 for the one night and have had many many more plesant experiences in Travelodge and Days Inn.

As I write I’ve been sitting for 40 minutes watching staff with minimal training managing an unmanageable situation. Too few staff too many customers. The 3 who are working in the dining room are really nice lads. They are polite and correct and doing their job. However, the hotel chain management should be ashamed of themselves for not correctly staffing this hotel. Very soon I’ll get up and leave because I fully expect my breakfast not to arrive before I have to go. That means, I’ll leave hungry and go without a breakfast I’ve paid for in advance. It’s no good saying “we can’t get the staff” pay them a decent wage and you will. Stop creaming of the profits off the top and run a hotel. Please.

We were attending a wedding at Muckrach Lodge and directed to this hotel through wedding invitation. First night there we arrived back at 11.15 pm after pre wedding event to find we were locked out. Stool there in bitterly cold conditions for over half an hour before contacting staff via website. They had not given us a welcome letter with codes on checking in. Next morning we found it difficult to put shower on but even more difficult to switch it off. Bathroom full of steam and had to get staff up to switch off shower. With little time to spare the tiny room with now only one mirror between us made getting ready stressful. This also happened to friends with young children who could not get shower off and wasted valuable time trying to do so at the expense of kilting our their young boys. The following morning there was only one waitress in breakfast service who was rushed off her feet. Cooked orders took over 45 minutes and one family gave up waiting as they had to leave. I gave feedback on checkout as did others. Complained about £75 per night charge which was £52 online day before and told that Muckrach had set the price. Still working that one out! All in all a terrible experience.

We had a very poor dinner at this restaraunt in a very run down hotel badly in need of cleaning, repainting, recarpeting and general modernizing in early Sept of 2018. The service was extremely slow with a wait of over 40 mintutes between appetizer and the main course. The salmon portion was so small as to be laughable, approximately 1/2” square by 3”, by far the smallest I’ve seen in two weeks in Scotland. The staff was totally unsympathetic to our complaints and could have cared less. Avoid at all costs

We had dinner at the Craiglynne hotel restaurant and are so disappointed. The service was poor: the server never checked back with us after serving our food. One person ordered steak Diane but didn’t get the Diane sauce. They served her a sauce with tomatoes and mushrooms instead. My dinner was over spiced but she didn’t ask me if anything was wrong when she picked up the barely touched plate. We waited for quite some time to get our check while listening to blaring rock music. Granted, it was about closing time when we finished but we had been waiting for some time to order dessert after being ignored during dinner. So.... the food isn’t good or worth what you pay and the service is very poor.

Clearly the kitchen and staff were unable to cope with the volume and we were told that the restaurant was closed (despite us having an 8:30 table booking and having booked a Dinner & B&B; package) - so we had to argue a little before we were 'accepted'. Given a small room with no view at the back of the hotel, although the place seemed empty for the entire weekend. Dinner was ok the first night, slightly uninspired but edible.Staff were friendly. Shocked to see the mark up's on the dinner outside the DBB package, almost asked to pay a la carte prices for an option from the main menu instead of normal supplementary prices. I take no pleasure in writing this review but after many previous very good reviews about this hotel I feel that I must try and help the Hotel to get up to its usual praise in my reviews. This was my 83rd booking with Easy Breaks, a lot of these bookings over the years with this hotel, but this visit I am sorry to say left us really disappointed. The service, cleanliness and friendly staff were as good as we have always found it to be but the food on this occasion was terrible. We stayed three nights and on each night the main course was based on a bed of mashed potatoes with in order of choice, Hake, Salmon, Pork and a sorry choice of vegetables mainly Mange Tout. The above dishes were made even worse by the fact that my wife requires Gluten Free food and after being assured by the staff that the meal was Gluten Free on the first night she had severe stomach pains and thereafter ordered her meals without the suspect sauces which we thought had caused these symptoms. We have never had this problem before at this hotel but she had no confidence after the first night as to the chef's ability to provide Gluten Free meals. What really emphasised our disappointment in the food provided was on the last morning of our visit at breakfast (which had been excellent up to then) I ordered Eggs Benedict, when it arrived there was this large soup dish with a whole crumpet with bacon and a poached egg on top actually swimming in a sea of Hollandaise Sauce, absolutely revolting. The bottom line is that we will not be back to this hotel until we are assured that they have changed the chef and are able to attain the very good satisfaction level that we have been used to at this hotel.

However there was no need for concern as my liver main course was plentiful and delicious as was my wife's chicken. For dessert I had cheese and biscuits and my wife had a tart and they were good portions.Breakfast the next morning was cooked to order and was good. The second night at dinner the starters were much larger and we both had the beef for mains and this was melt in your mouth. Although it did not affect us we could see faults in the service and there were people obviously waiting a while for even their order to be taken. We noticed one gentleman walk out having given up waiting, and we saw him later coming in to the hotel with a takeaway from the local Chippy. The next morning a breakfast it really was Faulty Towers standard. There were people coming in and their orders taken immediatly whereas there were others who had come in before them sitting for ages not being asked for their order. Around us there were loads of people waiting for ages for their orders to be taken and it got to the stage we were joking about who would be served first. My wife and I were in no hurry so it did not concern us as much as most of the others. We must have been half an hour in before we managed to get coffees served. Once the orders were taken food was delivered fairly quickly and there was no issue with the food.No one really taking control in the dining room and they obviously lacked training and leadership.Would not put us off going back again, especially if we could get that great deal again.

Under new management and getting better. Food ok not great. This is an old tired building in desperate need of refurbishment. It could be much better. hopefully the new management can inject the much needed cash required to bring this place up to the standard a building like this deserves.

We've stayed several times and always, without exception, thoroughly enjoyed all of our (short 2/3 day) breaks/stays. The Craiglynne is a beautiful old lady - just like us, she needs a bit of tlc - don't we all though! The Staff (all of them from maids to reception to waitress/ers to the Chef) are all just 100% lovely and eager to please (no matter what they are asked!!). The menus from Breakfast to Dinner are really tasty and the menu is very varied - i.e.something for everyone. The only one drawback is ---- you've guessed it --- the Weather - it can be amrvellous, wonderful, bitterly cold, torrential rain etc etc etc - but it doesn't stop the enjoyment of the lovely old Craiglynne. We highly recommend visiting - not the cheapest nor the dearest in the gorgeous area - but a lovely old place to stay. Any 'special requirements/requests' are nicely dealt with quickly when booking. We'll be back again and again for sure.

We had booked in for a 1 night dinner, bed & breakfast break but hadn't realsed this was a hotel mainly used by foreign coach parties. Room was spacious enough with a lovely big bay window however the curtains were ripped from top to bottom and there were huge cobwebs on the windowsill. Didn't appear the paintwork had been washed for ages either.Dinner menu seemed ok but we were served by a very surly waiter. We ordered sparkling water and when, after being reminded, he brought water, it was a jug of tap water. He slammed it down & when we called him back, he shouted 'minute' and walked away. On looking around, there were lots of wrong orders being brought out. The starter was ok as was main course of pork but it was served with the most tasteless mash ever. Desert was a tiny piece of brie with 2 crackers. Breakfast was fine, decent full scottish breakfast.all in all a very mediocre hotel which we will not be returning to

As a coeliac, you learnt graciousness - gracious that the restaurant is prepared to find something that you can eat. We dined here - as part of our Coach Tour - the Table d hote menu was provided as part of our package. I was simply overwhelmed with 3 choices of entree, 3 choices for main, and 2 choices for dessert. Dessert was so exciting - because for the past 5 desserts offered - I had been given fruit salad - some amazing and some ordinary - but still fruit salad. But not at Craiglynne!Entree - I ordered the Crayfish and prawn in a bloody Mary cocktail sauce! This was divine - however when the Maitre d' - heard my Aussie accent - he went back to the kitchen - to give me a second bowl of dessert - he was worried that our Prawns in Oz were HUGE and there's were not - so he gave me a double serving!Main - I ordered the Loin of Moray Pork served with cider jus. Again - this was melt in the mouth material! Beautifully cooked and presented - so tasty! WOW!Dessert - it was really difficult to choose - however I chose the Lemon Cheesecake! With out a doubt - this is the best gluten free Lemon Cheesecake I have ever eaten - it had so much flavour. As we stayed here overnight - the following morning we went back downstairs for breakfast - and I met the chef (Thanks to the excellent Maitre d') - and gave the Chef a kiss on the cheek - and complimented him on the most delicious meal!

Perfect location in a good quality hotel over the Hogmanay period, food was of good quality and the entertainment good but there should have been more Scottish dancing. All the staff were 1st class and could not have done anymore. The only negative was that after a 6.5 hr drive our deluxe room had some issues that the staff tried to resolve but eventually we had to change room which meant that we could not check in and relax for over a hour after arrival, during the period I asked to see the management but they failed to appear then or at any other time during our 3 night stay. They let the hotel and their staff down !!

We stayed her for just one night and even had dinner at the restaurant. I have to emphasize that the best part of our stay was the personnel. They try really hard, are friendly and funny and it seems that they were rather short staffed. The infrastructure however is miserable. Dusty, smelly rooms, a shower that doesn't work properly, doors out of their hinges etc. I guess the almost faded away trip advisor sticker at the front door says it all. I thank the people working there for their hospitality but I would urge the owning company to invest into the infrastructure.

Booked for 2 nights along with the dog. Reception area not what we expected, an odour as present within.Room a good size, a quiet area not to disturb the dog, and very easy entry away from the main door. Decor was a bit tired throughout the hotel, our bedroom furniture very basic. Bathroom small and not happy with the sliding door . This would be a lovely place to stay if given a makeover. Outside gardens with small fish pond needed to be tidied and maintained a bit better, was nice to see 3 Mallard ducks enjoying the water. Only ate breakfast which was sufficient . Overall, this is a great hotel, great place for a base to travel around the beautiful countryside, but decor just tired. On a positive note, we would return.

Bedrooms are quite small and dated however they are spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The public areas are very nice but I have to say the main asset of this hotel is the staff - so friendly and nothing is too much trouble - especially the barman Florin! Food was good although as the hotel was very busy we did have to wait a while between courses. Ideally placed for visiting the Strathspey whisky distilleries (and for sampling them in the hotel bar). Overall we had a very nice weekend and would definitely go back - only one problem and it is nothing to do with the hotel - it is virtually impossible to get a mobile phone signal in that area

Easily the most disappointing meal I've ever had. Completely lacking any flavour and what did have flavour tasted horrible. Every single course was the same; completely uninspired and unimaginative lumped together bits of food. The watery thin port and Stilton sauce looked and tasted like puke. Smoked salmon consisted almost entirely of trimmings only. I had better food in primary school canteens. A real waste of money. Incidentally, if you pay by card you get £2 added to your already stiff bill. It must be said though that staff really did their best, but never again for me.

Just back from a lovely weekend. Very good deal for dinner bed and breakfast. When we arrived greeted by a lovely smiling receptionist. Had to change rooms as mix up (given a twin room instead of a double) but dealt with very well and managed to get me room with a bath. Evening meal was very good and the staff were efficient and organized. However the bar had run out of a few things (cider being one of them). Breakfast in morning was again done well and staff friendly. All in all a great stay and will defo be back. Big thank you to the receptionist for checking the weather for us to go to the wildlife park. Esther and Mike Aberdeenshire

While staying in the area over the Easter break we fancied a nice meal for our last night in the area and found this place on the internet. Looked nice online. Upon arriving we went into the large drab restaurant area to be seated. After sitting for a while in the atmosphere lacking dining room we placed our order and requested drinks at the same time. A while later the drinks were brought through, placed on the table and payment for the drinks asked for! Never experienced that in a restaurant before, they're just added to the total usually. Anyway our starters arrived, which were adequate, but nothing more. Then came the mains.. My wife had ordered fillet steak, myself rump. When my wife's meal arrived the steak was a very flat, dry and full of gristle, absolutely NOT fillet steak, maybe a poor quality sirloin. Now we don't like to complain, but this wasn't right so we did. The waiter took the plate away and came back a few minutes later and said 'chef says it is fillet' and put the plate back down! Sorry but it wasn't, we explained we were not happy and would pay for our starters but would not be paying for the mains, or eating them. They then left us waiting until we had to go to the counter to ask how much we owed and the barman had to write the bill on a scrap of paper! Overall an appalling display of customer service, in a hotel restaurant which lacks atmosphere, character and experienced staff.

Stayed for 2 nights in the hotel so had enough to experiance both the dinner and breakfeast menu. Firstly the presentation was a treat on the eyes you could see that care and effort had been put into the meal before leaving the kitchen. If that wasnt good enough the food was well coocked and for a first time taste of hagis with breakfeast im converted before i only thought black pudding was a good compliment to the traditional "english breakfeast" but that has changed for me. I hope to visit again if not only for a good meal

Saw the waiter coming with my full Scottish breakfast. He was stopped on the way by someone from our party who asked for her egg sunny side down instead of up. He asked her if she wanted a swap. She said 'yes'. No one really expected what happened next. He swapped the egg on my plate with the egg on her plate. He then proceeded to give me my plate with the 'swapped' egg on it as our party looked on with unbelievable expressions on their faces. When I asked him if he had done what I thought he had he said 'Yes, but it's okay. She hasn't eaten any of it.' He then asked me if I'd like a fresh full breakfast. Basil Fawlty, eat your heart out. Don't reckon I'll be back.

We booked two of the luxury rooms and were very disappointed with them. Old plumbing, light bulbs needing replaced - generally "tired" and much in need of a remodel. We had breakfast each morning and only ate one dinner which was included in the rate. The restaurant was heavily understaffed and we were not impressed by the manager.Of course, we should have had a clue from the number of rooms and the fact that it caters to bus loads each day. We made every effort to avoid the bus tour hitting the restaurant for early breakfast and dinner - but the result was a very tired staff who were run off their feet. The food was reasonable, but certainly not great. Although the exterior is quite impressive, the hotel and restaurant is not ideal for two couples traveling on a quiet tour of the Highlands.

Wife and I received a voucher for afternoon tea for two and chose to have it at Craiglynne Hotel. The building itself is grand and beautiful. The decor is perfect for the location. I love the old photos on the walls. The amount of afternoon tea we received for two people could have served four! In fact we took half of it home with us (courtesy of the helpful staff on duty) as it was just too delicious to leave behind. Went for a lovely stroll through the meadows and wood across the road, just a lovely and relaxing way to spend an afternoon. Going on the generous afternoon tea I would love to spend a night in one of the rooms.

The Craiglynne Hotel was a pleasent place to stay at, though I felt a little disappointed. They were understaff at the best of times, the bartender kept disappearing.I noticed a few cups and glasses that were chipped and cracked. Their cutlery didn'nt look as though it had a good wash. I had noticed dust on the chandeliers.Apart from that, the staff were very lovely. The hotel is about 20 minutes from Aviemore.

Stayed with Crerar before in Elgin and enjoyed it, but this hotel a bit tired tho recently refurbished (hotel website)! First impression of room was a very creased duvet cover. En-suite smelled strongly of damp or drains, maybe cos of loose tiles in shower and mouldy grouting. Staff very helpful all round but some lacked professionalism or strong management. Dinner was nice and breakfasts basic but there seemed seemed to be a shortage of marmalade! Grantown hasn't got a lot to do either!

Looked at this hotel on their website and although we had not booked we headed there. Looked lovely from the outside, so went in to see if they had a double room. The receptionist said that the only one they had had got a crack in the sink but they did have a twin room. Luckily we asked to see it before committing ourselves. Supposedly ensuite - the sink was in the bedroom and the shower and toilet were in what I can only describe as a cupboard with a solid sliding door. Looked around the room. Not very clean at all. We made a hasty escape and told them that it was not for us. I can honestly say that it was the worst rom I have ever sen

Booked a double bedroom for my partner and I over the easter weekend only to find out we were getting a twin room because they had double booked. They never told me this at check in so i had payed before i got the key to the room so they're was no going back. The tv did not work either. We then had to change rooms the following day so had to pack our belongings in the morning and await for a room to become available. Later at night when we got to the double room. There was no toilet paper so had to go back down to reception to get some. The breakfast included was minimal. Also had to wait 45 minutes for it. They told me they would sort out a refund for the inconvenience. Giving that I booked a double room costing £106 only to be giving a a twin room. They would only refund me £30. Absolute joke. Wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone

Roads End Cafe is a lifesaver at this time of the year, we were on the NC500 and fancied a bite to eat when we got to John o Groats. It is such a basic cafe but still serves hot toasties/sandwiches, soup and small cakes/scones. The lady that served us was lovely, so welcoming and willing to go the extra mile, she even recommended the haggis and cheese toastie which I couldn't turn down. Since it was so quiet, it was takeaway only but she let us sit in due to the gale force winds outside. I have to say the toasties are the best I have had in a while and not even that expensive despite the location, absolutely fantastic. It is a little gem if you're looking for something eat when you reach the most northernly point in Scotland!
