This place has the best burgers ever! Me and my partner came here without a booking and they kindly seated us - despite being very busy. The staff are so lovely and friendly. They made us feel very welcome and their service was impeccable. I had the truffle burger and truffle fries and my partner had the big Mac and buffalo fries. The burger meat was perfection and everything was well seasoned, with lots of flavour. The fries were amazing, nice and crispy with the perfect ratio of toppings and the portions were more than satisfying. We're not from Scarborough and this place is good enough for us to want to repeat our trip. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed and the prices are adequate for what you get which is - the best burger in Scarborough by far! In fact the best burgers we've had - full stop! Thank you again for fitting us in and making our trip home complete with full happy bellies !

We ordered a takeaway whilst staying nearby on holiday I received great service over the phone, lovely helpful member of staff talked me through options as I looked at an old menu. She checkEd with the kitchen how long things would be as we were walking to collect and the timing was spot on all ready when we got there. The food was great all really hot even after our walk back to the cottage. Would definitely order again or maybe eat on next time as the restaurant was buzzing when I went in to collect.

Me and my son have just left the cow shed after our 3rd or 4th visit and what an amazing place I thought on my 1st visit i had probably visited on a good day with the staff and service being so good but it's been absolutely amazing every time we've been the staff are extra helpful in making you feel welcome and the place is awesome I would recommend anyone to visit the food is also cooked fresh while you wait and is also truly amazing

Since coming under new ownership, it has improved a lot. Almost back to the standard when it first began. However they have made some choices which have impacted the restaurant negatively, in my opinion. The food is very good, and they keep things fresh and interesting with regular specials. My one issue with the food is that the way the burger is assembled and the type of bread used often means the whole thing falls apart mid-way through and it becomes laboursome and difficult and messy to eat. I do love interacting with the staff as they are incredibly well mannered and friendly. I am not a fan of the new interior, but I can respect the design choices. It does look cool, but that doesn’t make it appropriate to dine in. Bright white lights (especially at night), spotlights being shone directly at you while you eat, tables very close together, poor acoustics and reflective metal surfaces everywhere makes for quite a jarring and unpleasant dining experience. They have also made the strange choice to make the windows opaque. These windows were one of the main attractions to dining in the restaurant (for me anyway) - it served as a relief from the claustrophobic nature of the building. It now feels very cooped up and penned in and uncomfortable. For this reason I would opt for takeaway. Blocking the windows out also serves to create a sense of exclusivity about the building from the outside, often making it difficult to tell if it’s open or closed, or what it even is. It just says “the cowshed” on a sign. It looks like just another dead part of town if you’re walking or driving past it. It is very expensive - expect to be paying £50-£60 if there is two of you. That is acceptable nowadays, but it’s cheeky for the card machine to then ask for tips. I would strongly recommend the owners to collab with Fat Hippo in some way to see how they do things, especially with their burger assembly and ingredient choices. They use a type of light brioche roll which works really well for burgers. I would recommend the parmigiano to anyone. It is delicious.

I have food intolerances to capsicum and mustard. Menu was quite limited but the staff were brilliant and endeavoured to accommodate my requirements. Nice place but feels a bit grubby and lack lustre. Rest of group loved their choices though.

Really enjoyed our burgers here. Huge portions, even the side of onion rings was giant. Decent selection of drinks as well. Service was pretty quick.

Burgers OK but not really anything out of the ordinary. Booked table but needed a deposit and pre order which we thought unnecessary for an empty restraunt.

Fantastic and attentive staff and amazing food. Love the seasonal specials and they're really accommodating for any allergies and dietary requirements.

Amazing food and service, this is the first time I have visited and wow highly recommended to anyone considering.

Melt in your mouth burgers, with great toppings and big portion of fries. PBJ was excellent, the satay was creamy and complemented the beef. My son had the BBQ burger, it was massive with a proper fresh crispy onion ring on it

Absolutely brilliant place - the service is excellent and the food was really good. They are super switched on around allergens etc. and the Gluten Free burger was one of the best we'd had, even had GF beers to wash it down with. Would highly recommend.

This restaurant does burgers, and boy they do them well both chicken in beef.....oh the milkshakes too. Cool decor and very friendly staff who are knowledgeable too. The food is amazing, taste, presentation and quantity, as well as great value. If you want a burger in Scarborough, do not go elsewhere. Toilets were also nice and clean. You can get a takeaway as well. Absolutely top notch

I’m calling the best burger ever (and I’ve had quite a lot of burgers!). I had the cheese burger, which came with fries, and added a honey chilli dip. The ketchup was Heinz (that’s always important!). Partner had PBJ and loved his too. We booked in advance and they had to turn walk-ins away so definitely book! Quick and friendly service - thanks for having us and our little dog!

Scrumptious American style burgers and great service from staff who clearly care about their product. We had the Big Mac and the chicken burger with a side of halloumi fries. Delicious. We had scrummy milkshakes too. Thoroughly recommended!

The best burger we’ve had in years😀 We had the blue burger and the black pudding and apple fritters side.and the cheeseburger with bacon and the chorizo Mac and cheese. The service was fantastic the staff attentive the food delicious and plenty of it will definitely visit again when in Scarborough.

Tasty vegan burgers (beyond meat) with gluten free options. If you’re vegan on a gluten-free diet or have lactose allergy - you will still be accommodated. Service was great, I got all the information I needed and a lovely woman who was serving us double checked for allergens in the burger that I ordered. Because of another allergen in a GF bun I got a naked burger on a salad and it was very tasty. I will be back and I recommend this place.

Both me and my partner are big burger fans and these have to be up there with the best. I really enjoyed all the food. Good selection of craft beers and super friendly staff!! Would definitely recommend!

Great burgers! We had the Korean and the Truffle. The burgers automatically come with fries, which is a nice change. They also have a great craft beer selection. We ended the meal with a Biscoff milkshake, which was very good. The server was also super nice. We will be back!

I discovered this by chance & was pleasantly surprised. On arrival you do wonder a little what you've walked into but don't let that scare you. It is by far the best place for burgers, & the most amazing variation on fries you can imagine. The staff are friendly, good price, good portion size & I know the people I took have already been back... After they'd been raving to everyone. So can I choose a good restaurant, oh yes I think I can!!!

Our favourite burgers, EVER! We visit Cowshed whenever we're on holiday near-by and it becomes our favourite night of the week. The staff are so welcoming, and the food is incredible 🍔 highly recommend the halloumi fries as a side. Definitely worth a visit 💗 already looking forward to returning later on in the year!

Highly recommended, small, friendly burger and beer restaurant which is clear on what it does, and it does it well! The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the surroundings are clean and welcoming. The menu is limited, but the staff will accommodate where they can, and the meals on offer are cooked well and appropriately sized. There is a huge selection of gluten free options and the burgers can be swapped out for plant-based alternatives. Bookings are essential to avoid disappointment due to the size and popularity of the place!

Burger itself (Cheeseburger) was excellent - among the best I've ever had. Ordered it with Buffalo fries - which would probably have been great if hot (after all that's why you order hot fries), but totally ruined by dropping half a tub of chilled coleslaw on top of them. Cold chips with Buffalo sauce not good. Floor was greasy and slippery enough for Torvil & Dean to put on a show! Staff were lovely.

I don't write reviews often, but can hands down say the absolute best burger I've ever had. Lovely lovely staff, couldn't be more accommodating and friendly. Great selection of beers and other drinks available. Found this place by chance and haven't stopped thinking about it! I got the Big Mac...twin patty burger with mac and cheese inside with other goodies. Please go pay these guys a visit, you won't be disappointed. Also, best halloumi fries I've had, cooked to perfection and very generous portions. Kindly was able to take the rest of my meal home with me! Will 100% be travelling to Scarborough again just to visit this place.

I've read through some of these reviews and all I can say is you pay for quality, staff member was great and the big Mac meal was fantastic, full of flavor and more than filling. Will definitely be visiting again when we're back over this way. Also the halloumi fries and chili jam is top tier.

Absolutely unreal, tasty burgers and sides. Always busy, no matter what day of the week or time of year - even on a Monday night in January - which speaks for itself. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a good burger in Scarborough!

Really lovely place with great food. I would say the portions are generous, and you will probably make a pig of yourself, but it's worth it as the food is delicious. The drinks menu is good, and you can get a cocktail, beer, or milkshake to go with your food. Service was quick, and the ladies' serving were so nice and friendly. It's not a huge place, so you must book otherwise you may be disappointed (like we were on our visit the year before as we couldn't get in). I would definitely recommend visiting.

Burgers are yummy and large. Basic menu but good what they do you must try the deep fried gherkins very nice 😋the two ladies waiting on were spot on and worked hard. The place was freezing 🥶 so so cold we sat in our coats and were still cold . That was the only complaint great food and service but go wrapped up.

I’ve been in here more than a handful of times and it is always amazing! The food is to die for and the staff are so amazing, nice and helpful. They have been known to go above and beyond any other place I have even been to. I record this place to anyone who will listen.

If in Scarborough, this is a must visit. Food was amazing and fantastic value for money. Do not leave without trying a milkshake! Restaurant was busy but they still got food out to us quickly. The girls were so lovely! Every table that was in while we were said how good the food is. I will say when you are ordering, there is a lot of food for each serving so you definitely won’t be leaving hungry. The end of night kebab was not needed on this occasion.❤️

I would give this little hidden gem ten stars if I could! I wasn’t in the mood for a burger when my husband suggested this place. Well thank goodness he convinced me because I have never tasted a burger this good in my life!! I had the cheeseburger, and no burger I will ever have in the future will ever compare to this one! It was juicy, with perfectly fried onions, and the special cowshed sauce made it taste out of this world. Such a pity I live a six hour drive away!!!

This place is a real gem! The staff were great and so was the food. We had a couple of cheeseburgers and fries with a side of beer battered onion rings and they were all delicious. Great atmosphere and great food. We’ll definitely be back next time we visit Scarborough. Highly recommended.

If you could give 6 stars this place would definitely get that , the food was 100% amazing and the service was equally as good 👍. The burgers are all 2x3oz patties which are obviously freshly made and cooked, I had the PBJ and my wife had the Blue with a portion of Beer Battered onion rings between us . This is a prime example of having a small menu and doing it to the best of your ability,we got in early doors and there was a full list of bookings (on a Tuesday night) so get booked in and don't miss out on probably the best burger joint I have ever been in

Go here and sell a kidney if you have to. You have not lived until you have had a burger here, we have tried to get in a couple of times, but so glad we got in definitely coming back.

Had a lovely meal tonight, but just wanted to comment on the server for tonight, he was great. Looks like he was on his own front of house and he was really polite, even though it must've been quite stressful at times. Also definitely recommend the biscof milkshake! Best milkshake I've ever had!

What a little gem this place is. It came recommended to us and we would certainly recommend it to anyone else. The staff were excellent and couldn't do enough for you. One gentleman imparticular was extremely attentive to ours and everyones needs and so polite. If you like a nice burger you've got to go here

What an experience this was not only the best burger/loaded fries combo ive had but the milkshake was to die for the front of house staff were brill and totally owned it! 100%recomend to anyone local or passing by parking was nice and handy outside aswell.

We went as a group of 7 and each and everyone of us said it was the best burger we had ever eaten!!! Really nice friendly staff, David and Ellie served us and the team of chefs were awesome !! Will def visit again if in Scarborough!! Yummy!

My wife and I have just enjoyed the best burgers we’ve ever tasted! We’d travelled from the midlands during the day and as we had our dog with us we opted for takeaway. The local police recommended I try the cowshed and I wasn’t disappointed. The atmosphere was great and the staff were very helpful. Thank you all!

Very impressed. Best burger and halloumi fries I think I've ever had?! And amazing cocktails, too. Cannot fault the food at all. Piping hot and amazing quality. Absolutely delicious. Service was amazing and the girl who served us (name begins with E!!! Poor memory 😆) was so lovely and has incredible music taste. The good tunes elevated the whole experience. 10/10 would recommend, I understand now why it gets so busy!!! No fuss regarding my allergies either. Staff very knowledgeable on allergens and were able to serve me a safe meal!
