A delightful place to eat with excellent and attentive staff.

Perfect and reasonable price. Pigeon breast to start, then scampi then rice pudding. All great. Dog friendly. Best meal I've had out this year.

If you visit Whitby and want delightful food with excellent service in a lovely setting - don’t miss a visit to The Garden Room. Pictures don’t do it justice - quirky and comfy at the same time. Wished we’d booked a stayed overnight - or popped in for lunch - which looked ridiculous value for money. Highly highly recommend.

What a great place, pre drinks in the court yard with fantastic views, in side beautiful wood finishing creates a warm and cosy atmosphere, and the food and staff were lovely. Will definitely be going again

The food was good, however the portions were huge and we couldn't finish everything. The desserts (or at least the chocolate mousse we got) were absolutely delicious, I would definitely recommend. The service was fast at first, but it took a while for the mains to come.

The building is beautiful it was lovely to look around, we sat near the bar which allowed dogs. I came here on a Sunday since I was told they did a good vegan Sunday dinner. I ordered the nut roast which was very tasty however in order to make it vegan a few things were taken off making my meal look a little sad. Everyone else's food I was told they enjoyed a lot and the desserts were very well presented.

Good food but doesn't match the setting, I'd expect something a little bit more upmarket based on the style and location.

Had a fabulous Sunday roast and the grounds and interior are absolutely lovely. Probably the best roast I have had. Fast ,friendly service and dog friendly too, perfect

We've enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner here every time we've come! The food is delicious and it's always a lovely atmosphere, beautifully decorated and the staff are all helpful and attentive.

We went for breakfast and it was lovely. Tasted great, hot and presented well. Service was great. The interior is lovely and comfortable. We will definately call again, hopefully to stay overnight next time.

We eat here every month. A must for people visiting whitby who want more than fish and chips. It was our wedding anniversary and we were treated to a complimentary glass of fizz. Beautiful surroundings. Friendly and attentive staff. Great food. A jewels in whitby Crown. A must visit.

Went for xmas dinner, the food was fantastic, can't fault the service food or ambience. The castle itself is beautifully decorated for xmas. Considering the amount of dinners and diners we didn't wait and the food was nicely cooked.

Sunday lunch on a cold December 3rd. Fabulous beef, excellent vegetables with a bit of thought and flavour, ginormous Yorkshire pudding and gravy to die for. All served with a smile and friendly chat. Food was hot and the atmosphere welcoming and warm. We’ll be back again soon.

*5 for everything. Very, very, very helpful, kind and conscientious staff. Gorgeous coffee with different kinds of milk alternatives. Huge fish with a choice of skinny or fat chips. Sunday dinner without the meat is cheaper than with. And exceedingly and surprisingly cheap for the experience. Thank you, Sneaton Castle, we will see you again next month. (For wheelchair users, there are a few steps to the wc).

This is a well kept secret great food and service at very reasonable price.

Really good well laid out restaurant in the old nun refectory Whitby

Came for lunch in the Garden room with two friends and had a very nice afternoon. Spent three hours eating, drinking coffee and looking around this interesting building. Staff excellent and obviously loved the place themselves. Its been renovated to a high standard and food, service was very good. We will definitely return. Very interesting building and old Nunnery built in a castle style although old but but not an ancient building and in great condition. Very sympathetic restoration and the old chapel a fantastic wedding venue. Ambiance great and well worth a visit.

First time we had eaten here. We were a party of four plus two dogs and where seated in the bar area. The place is stunning, service was fabulous and the food was gorgeous. We will definately return next time we holiday at Whitby.

We went here for lunch today, and it's the first time I've been here. What a lovely castle!! The garden room was beautiful with a lovely atmosphere. It was quite busy but not noisy at all. We were served drinks quickly and didn't have to wait too long for our food. In all honesty, the beef sandwich was very basic, I really expected more. It was nothing special, so I was a little disappointed. The dessert was lovely. Looked too nice to eat!! I found it was a bit overpriced for what it was, but if you're eating in a castle, I suppose it's expected. Will I visit again? Unsure. I suppose everyone has very different expectations, and the food didn't really live up to mine. It's still a 4* ❤️

Lovely meal at sneaton castle with excellent service. Food was slightly too rich for me but the food was of a very high quality.

We were fans of Cross Butts for years, so when the management/family moved over to Senton Castle, and we had a special night coming up, it seemed like a no-brainer for us to follow them there. so my partner and I went there for three courses to celebrate my 45th birthday. The food was good, very good in-fact, although not as outstanding as we had come to expect, and the service - superficially at least seemed fine. I'm sure most diners there find the staff to be polite and attentive. Most diners, however, are probably not seated near the kitchen door, where the waiters loiter... most customers, therefore, will not hear the young man who served us sharing his opinions of his customer, specifically their appearances, with his college. Unfortunately for us (although apparently not for him - more on that later) we were seated in just that position, and did have the distinct displeasure of hearing him judge the people without whom he would be unemployed. We were even treated to his comments on ourselves! He gleefully told his college of "the couple in the window" (a description which only fit ourselves that night - although it would have been just as disgusting had it been about someone else) "wouldn't last" (we've been together 20 years - longer that the little oik has been alive), as she is "at least 15 years older than him" (6, not that its any of his business; and people are generally surprised to hear there is a gap at all). You can imagine that this spoiled our evening! When oik-boy came to see if we wanted dessert, my partner (not one to let a slight go unpunished) declared that she didn't know if she should have one "at her advanced age" - unsurprisingly after giving us menus, the young man "tagged in" his colleague, and didn't approach our table again. So do remember that no matter how polite the staff may seem, there is every chance that you are being talked about out of (or occasionally in) earshot. It may seem harsh to hold the actions of one waiter on one occasion against the business as a whole - especially as we have been customers for so long, but here's the rub: We emailed the restaurant and explained what had happened, and received a reply to the effect that the young man hadn't worked in hospitality very long... as though this somehow explained his utter ignorance as to how to behave as a polite human being. So do also remember, during your visit, that there is not only every chance that you are being talked about; but that management are okay with this.

Had a lovely meal here! The castle setting was stunning with a sweeping drive to arrive, and the garden room itself was lovely. We had crab arancini to start (yummy!), lamb rump for main (delicious!) and shared a trio of desserts and the Garden Room’s signature raspberry meringue swan for pudding. Overall, the staff were great and couldn’t do enough for us, although our waitress did forget about us a couple of times when it came to bringing the dessert menu and paying the bill. But overall, the quality of the food was tremendous and would highly recommend!

The food here was outstanding, obviously very well sourced from local area and then cooked to perfection. The castle and gardens are beautiful, the restaurant is nicely decorated and it tries hard not to feel too much like a barn though doesn't quite make it, ie not very intimate. Service:- from our arrival we had an efficient greeting and prompt service though somehow staff managed to avoid eye contact and it felt somewhat like a cafetieria rather than a good restaurant and to be honest the food deserved better. Well worth a night out.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Garden Room Restaurant at Sneaton Castle, and I was very impressed with the food. The restaurant is located in a beautiful old castle, and the dining room has a warm and inviting feel. The menu features a variety of dishes made with locally sourced ingredients, and the specials of the day is a great option. I had the pigeon starter and pork chop main, and it was absolutely delicious. The pigeon was cooked perfectly, and the pork chop was juicy and flavorful. The dish was also served with a delicious sauce that perfectly complemented the meat. The service at the restaurant was also good. One of our waiters was very knowledgeable about the menu, and she was happy to make recommendations. Overall, I had a wonderful dining experience at the Garden Room Restaurant at Sneaton Castle. The food was delicious, the service was good, and the atmosphere was perfect. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a special dining experience.

So wonderful here. The restaurant and surrounding facilities are absolutely breathtaking therefore highly recommend that you come here. Staff were brilliant, so was the food and at a great price too! My drink (dragonfruit and mango non alcoholic cocktail) was something I would definitely recommend too, never tasted something so amazing at only £4.50.

What a great place to visit for lunch. Amazing service, food and views. We booked very last minute and arrived with our Golden Retriever to the bar area. The staff was super accommodating with him. More than dog friendly! One of the best burgers and Sunday roasts we've had. 10/10 and thanks again!

Staying in Whitby and Sneaton castle was recommended by so many people. What a gorgeous venue, alpacas, pygmy goats, rare sheep, can't remember what type, sorry. I most certainly would recommend and wouldn't hesitate in returning

An excellent meal, served by experienced and long-standing staff and a thoroughly enjoyable time. The setting, situation and ambience, are super and the prices are in line with eateries around the area. And excellent place to go and the owners should be proud of their efforts since its renovation into this wonderful venue, and the staff who speak so highly of them and the establishment in which they work.

Very accomodating towards my request for a vegan friendly meal. The staff was super friendly, the food was delicious and they went above and beyond after I asked where they got the sourdough bread from. The establishment was very tidy, inviting and open.

My wife and I had lunch here and found it to be excellent all round. I rarely rate anything as five star all round but in this case, it's warranted. Great setting, top notch service and delicious food.

A magnificent restaurant with I believe rooms for rent. High-class dining experience in my humble view. The very best meal and service. Very warm on a very cold night. Seating for dining plush an comfy. Seating for casual dining and bar, nice and intimate booths for a little quiet. Very good prices. I shouldn't tell you all of this. Keep it between just us two.

We went with friends, it was a perfect experience. The fish and chips were delicious, big chunks of white fish and crispy batter. The staff were very attentive and the garden room very tranquil.

Wow, great place! Really great location, we had a family lunch here and the food and service? Amazing! My chicken curry was balti style and probably the quantity I would cook for 2 or 3. Really tasty with delicious rice, naan, poppadom, chutney, yoghurt and more. Several others had the cod goujons - I expected small bits of fish and batter, but the serving was more like 4 or 5 chunks of battered cod, each bit a serious but of cod. Really outstanding food. My wife found some plastic in her risotto, initial poor response from waiting staff was disappointing and a bit unprofessional but she came back with an improved response. Trivial matter but an improvement opportunity for a place that really could be perfect. Truly great place recommend

My partner and I had lunch on the Friday and loved it so much we booked for Sunday dinner as well. We eat out a lot and have to say this place is up there with the very best. We can't fault anything. If we could give this another star we would, it is truly magnificent, a real gem of a place.

Excellent food, pleasant staff, moderate prices and delightful setting. Sunday roast lunches highly recommended. My only criticism (if it's really a criticism) was that I could not add a gratuity to the bill to pay by credit card. Luckily (and it's a rarity) I had cash with me to appreciate the excellent service provided. One can see the influences from Cross-Butts which used to be managed by the same family that have taken over here and has subsequently gone downhill

I had a wonderful experience here with my family. I was staying at a cottage nearby and booked Sneaton Castle after searching for local restaurants. Booking was easy, friendly staff and excellent food. The portions weren't too small and neither too large. Oh, and it's in a wonderful setting in which you can enjoy outside, weather permitting.

Food was amazing. Staff were great. The restaurant has a lovely feel to it. Good value. Good portions. Outside they have farm animals and llamas. A really lovely place to eat with loads of parking.

Had a great family reunion here on Saturday evening, the staff were very accommodating considering there were 25 of us. Food was fantastic and reasonably priced, everyone was very happy. Only complaint is that the chairs could do with a hoover.
