We went to this lovely restaurant last night. All of the staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. They even moved our table to infront of the roaring fire because I was cold. The food was exceptional, we will be back very soon.

We’ve been living close by for 2 years and would order once every 2 weeks of so. The food used to be brilliant every time, but something would always be missing. We put it up with that although it was so frustrating that there would always be something missing every time no matter how specific you would be with the order always one thing missing. We kept giving them extra chances and today they finally cracked it and the full order came. However, it was the worst curry we have ever had from anywhere. All of the food was cold and the popadoms and naan bread were actually stale. It was like it had all been cooked yesterday and bought to us today. My wife didn’t eat hers, I ate mine and wished I didn’t as I actually feel sick writing this. I’m gutted to be honest. This isn’t an angry customer writing a review aggressively, I’m just gutted because the food used to be so good, but how many chances can you give a place. Unfortunately I’m really sorry to say we won’t be ordering again. We actually tried to order from the new place at The George hotel tonight first but they were closed. We should have waiting a different day until they were open because that was beyond awful from cowfold cottage tonight.

Had a fabulous flavoursome and colourful meal at Cowfold Cottage Tandoori. The owner served us and he made us feel so welcomed. The fresh naan bread was the best I've ever tasted and the chicken tikka korai was packed full of flavour and served sizzling on the hotplate. A lovely meal with the whole family.

Once again a fabulous meal at Cowfold Cottage - very welcoming to our 10 and 8 year olds - who were tempted into trying new foods and thoroughly enjoyed them!

Two and a half hours takeaway on a Monday night avoid a total####show. No reason no apology just absolutely crappie service could have driven to London picked up a curry and back by now

The food was amazing and completed exceeded expectations! I asked for a prawn curry and got some kind of tiger prawn 🍤 deliciousness. The rest of the food was wonderful as well. The member of staff that took our order was very friendly and patient Five stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

I have always enjoyed the curry from Cowfold cottage. Lovely food. However their delivery service is shocking. Have had to wait up to 2.5hrs for delivery sometimes, and the last 4 deliveries have been consistently later than advised. So we now collect. If you are happy to wait or collect, it’s an excellent choice. If your looking for prompt delivery, look elsewhere.

What an appalling service. Food arrives, items missing. I call, gentleman rude, no apology stated I would receive call back. No call, I had to call again, no sorry just on their way, another 25 minutes later my main had gone cold.

The curry here is delicious and freshly cooked. Had numerous things off the menu and never disappointed. However, would always suggest you order for pick, and double the estimated time to avoid being disappointed.

Delicious food and good sized portions. People who work there are really friendly. Building is worth visiting in itself as it's very old (in a good way). Very quiet sadly. I hope people aren't put off by the bad reviews, as we've actually had a really good experience.

Very poor service it took 2 hours to arrive I have never experienced anything like it. No apology. This is not the first time but will be the last. Previous orders have been forgotten. Organisation and customer skills are required.

Used Cowfold Cottage Tandoori for 20 years NEVER AGAIN!! Last delivered takeaway cold and missing a curry!!!! Last picked up takeaway missing a curry and a naan bread!!! Complained and was offered 50% refund and am still waiting for the refund 6 weeks on. Called and left a message numerous times but never have a call returned!! The place inside needs a really good clean and the fireplace needs some real attention. We now go to Ashington. They know the meaning of customer service

I phoned today to order a curry at 5.30 for a certain time was told to Order on the website which I did. 30 mins after I rang to get told would be 10 mins , 20 mins after that I rang to be told it was on its way. I live 2 mins away !!!! 20 mins later I rang asked to speak to the owner he wouldn’t speak to me but the person who I was speaking to hung up on me I consequently rang again and again the phone was put down On its now 2 hours after my requested delivery time and I’m sat here on New Year’s Eve eating toast seriously I’ve just moved here I’ve had two really nice curry’s from you but this experience has let me dumb founded by not only your lack of food, but your customer service is beyond belief!!!!!!!!! Never again

We were recommended this restaurant by friends. We only live 5 mins away and decided to try as they were running the eat out to help out scheme. We parked along the road as there is only a few parking spaces near the restaurant. It’s located in a 15th century cottage that previously was a tea room. We sat upstairs, the staff all wore masks and were very friendly. The menu is very detailed and had lots of choice, maybe too much. The staff took a long time to take out order and were slow to deliver drinks. However the food was lovely once it arrived. I would recommend this restaurant if you like a varied menu and have plenty of time.

Awful! Told delivery would be 30-40 minutes, it was actually nearly 2 hours!! Made lots of vague excuses about it too. The korma flavour was ok but it tasted like they’d just chucked a couple of handfuls of desiccated coconut in which was yuck. The poppadoms would have been nice had they been fresh and I have no idea what the sauce was that came with them but it tasted like banana in milk which was disgusting :-(

Over an hour later than the stated delivery time, 2 hours and 15 minutes after we’d ordered it finally arrived. Tried calling for over half an hour and no one answered the phone so we couldn’t find out where it was or cancel the order. We have had this before with them and gave them the benefit of the doubt thinking that it was a one off. Unfortunately it’s a regular occurrence waiting an hour and a half to over two hours for delivery.Appalling, definitely won’t be using them again.

Horrendous experience! Booked with intention of using Groupon voucher received as Christmas present. Seated upstairs in cramped, dingy area on worn out seats. After 3/4hr of waiting for someone to take our food order decided to leave! All of those in our area were still waiting for their meals - all for at least an hour So disappointed.

If you like a good Indian DONT go there! If you don’t want to age 10 years waiting for your food DONT go there! Only 3 parties in the restaurant too!! We had our starters an hour after we arrived, not worth the wait.! Waited yet again ! The chicken tikka biryanis was burnt chicken and burnt and crispy rice, the lamb balti was simply a lamb casserole spice less. The peshwari nan was just not palatable and nothing like peshwari we have enjoyed in other Indian restaurants. I have never felt the need to leave a bad review before, even if things haven’t been great, but I’m afraid this experience was awful not a Valentines to remember, but not one we shall forget easy either!

We hadn't been to Cowfold Cottage since using Groupon vouchers 3 months ago. I booked a table for a Sunday evening on the off chance and we had a lovely evening with amazing food. It was a lovely Sunday evening treat for us and, as always, we could not fault the food. Very good value evening out. Will be returning before too long!

Poor takeaway. Have one most weeks but yesterday’s was pretty disappointing. Ordered butter chicken but what arrived was a pale flavourless soup with some bits of chicken swimming in it. Heavy with desiccated coconut. Inedible.

My husband has eaten here about a dozen times, half the time with my teenage daughter and half the time with me. I'm really surprised at any negative reviews of the food as it has ALWAYS been delicious. We use the Groupon deal and find it excellent value. Yes, there is a little wait for the food, but this is because it is freshly made. The nan is amazing, fresh and fluffy. We love the tikka masala, chicken pathi, and some special with garlic & ginger whose name eludes me. I find the staff really lovely. The building is quirky, presumably listed and can be a bit chilly but when we were there a week or so ago there were plenty of heaters on and it was nice and warm. I would definitely recommend it and we will continue to return in the new year.

Went there for a fathers day present, staff very friendly, food excellent, surroundings very old, as we went early we were the only ones in the restaurant, but that won't stop us going again.

Saturday night curry and after reading the other reviews we were a tad apprehensive going here but decided it was worth a go.As the other reviews said the furniture is a tad worn out and past its prime but it’s on the food and service side it’s great.everything was fresh and well cooked and the tasted great.Prices were a good and the bar is well stocked.We will be back!

We had a Groupon voucher gift to use . The building is absolutely beautiful, the restaurant dirty and unkempt . The chairs were so saggy , the back of your legs are higher than your backside and it's really uncomfortable! The place was really busy and the food was actually rather nice , but after waiting so long for it we would have eaten anything !! Waiter was a nice young chap . Suffice to say it's not a place I would hurry to return to , voucher or not !

As always, we had a very enjoyable evening at Cowfold Cottage. There was a warm welcome when we arrived and we were shown upstairs to our table. The building is very atmospheric and full of character.

We live locally and eat and have take-aways from here quite often. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait for pick-up, but we are never disappointed with the food.

Had a really delicious meal here with our family, the young man waiting on the tables was very efficient and friendly. It was the first time we had taken our children out to an Indian restaurant and they really enjoyed it. The food was very tasty and they were big portions. We will definitely be visiting again!

Not a great restaurant. The bar area and upstairs seating need some TLC. It looked uncared for. Bins outside overflowing, carpets inside dirty and toilets didn't look clean. Light bulbs need replacing and curtains hanging off. A shame as a lovely building but didn't quite feel right. The food was good and service mainly ok. Sorry but wouldn't return.

We have visited this restaurant a few times now over the last few months or so... and every time the food has been absolutely amazing!! I never used to be a great lover of curry’s but after eating here I love a curry with all the sides..It is now one of my favourite dishes to eat... Every dish is tasty and has different flavours and spices. Other Indian restaurants do not serve traditional food like they cook here.. I have never eaten such amazing food! It’s the best Indian food around.. They should be busy all the time.. Once you eat here you will definitely come back... I can’t recommend this place enough.. 10 out of 10 for tastiest food.. authentic and traditional.. We will be back again soon.

Obviously can affored many as he has at least 5r restuarants and 15 shops so doesnt really care about service in Cowfold. I would advise you not to patronise themQ! but as I know we are stuck in Cowfold that is the monolophy they have but teh service is s.. why go there. Aslo last year the food was awful!

We ordered a takeaway for home delivery and were told it would take one hour. It actually took nearly 2 hours and 3 phone calls to get the food including being told on the first call the driver was 5 minutes away. When it arrived it was cold and not particularly tasty. Never again.

The food here is really good and authentic absolutely delicious. We recently had some guests here for my wife's birthday and the staff here were brilliant making sure everything went smoothly and made the evening perfect.

The restaurant was a very nice old fashioned 13th century cottage. The place was very clean and tidy, and the staff very friendly. The prices are very good, and the quality and taste of the food was lovely.

bossman set us that korma and tikka korma with some rasclart rice and chippys, man like boss man was a calm yute and shot us a mad up discount coz me and my drilla are usals to the boss. told boss we're gunna chip co op while the much was being cheffed, to buss a couple bags of doms and fatty rascalrt garlic nan to slap boss with if he took time , me and bossman linked later on and went to shot a couple onion 10s , overall the meal was madup boss man is a certi drilla and the much was acc madup holla boss for mad deals and to shot some leng 10 bags

Had not been here for a few years and came here with friends on Sunday lunch time. Glad the food is still really good, the service friendly and attentive, the price excellent value for money. Such a great experience sitting and eating in an old 12th Century building. This place should be busier, can't wait to go back

I have used this restaurant/takeaway a good few times over the years and it has always been variable. Having not had a takeaway from here for at least 8 months after what was an exceptionally average meal I thought I would try again. Mistake!

Can't recommend highly enough. We recently moved nearby, and we were very pleasantly surprised by our first visit. All the starters, mains and sides were top quality, especially the naan bread! Beautiful setting and decent service too.

A group of us went for a meal, we had a delightful meal, the lamb Byrani is really good, rh service is great. It is a family run friendly restaurant and they always welcome us in there.

Awful, awful, awful. Went in for delivery, told btr to wait as wld be quicker. Told 20 minutes, waited 45 and still no food. Askd for refund but was given food which I didnt want by this time. First time here we was over the moon with this place. Couldn't fault a thing (18mths ago I might add). We returned for 2nd visit end of last year (my previous review on TripAdvisor says it all). Glutton for punishment we thought (as we'd read some good reviews) we'd give it another go. Oh dear is all I can say. The welcome you receive is disgraceful. You're led up a tiny staircase to similar to "the old crooked house". The tables are so close together you can hear every word that is being spoken. Mind you it is deathly quiet in there no radio no music absolutely so quiet you can hear a pin drop. The atmosphere is awful. Service was quite bad considering there was only another 2 tables in there same time. Poppadoms wernt even warm. My chicken balti was so salty and far too spicy for a balti and quite dry. My husband's tikka masala he said was ok but not piping hot. No dessert menu was offered but when we asked they don't do desserts anymore. Wasn't asked if we wanted coffee or anything else. No "check back" at table during meal. In fact we was made to feel as if they were waiting to close as they were laying tables hurriedly. Toilets are okay if you are a dwarf. I'm only 5ft 5ins but struggled to get in door. Outside was rags and old tins as if the rubbish needed putting out. Oh and best bit NO CARD machine as the phone signal and internet is non existent there. Good job we only had drinks to pay for and had bit of cash on us. Makes me wonder why the £16 Groupon offer is constantly going on. Perhaps that's only way to get customers? Definitely last time we visit. Be warned you get what you pay for!

Visitamos esta noche después de comprar una oferta de groupon para una cena para dos personas! Situado en una pintoresca casa del siglo 13! Al llegar la primera impresión fue un poco pasada. Sin embargo, el personal es muy agradable y acogedor! La comida era increíble! Sin duda una de las mejores comidas indias que hemos tenido! Recomiendo encarecidamente este restaurante para una comida agradable india! Sin duda volveremos. 5 *

after lots of trouble with delivery and customer service here we though we would give it or more shot!! we shouldn't have!! we ordered for collection as every time we have got delivery they have never brought the right stuff!! they always forget stuff and the food is always a mess, the containers are squashed and the food have all gone everywhere! not to mention to always being about an hour late! so we collected! we got given a time of 7.45 so we turned up 10 minutes later as they always need extra time, still had to wait another 15/20 mins! when we got home we sat down to eat it straight away, and there must of been another cook! who doesn't know how much salt to to put in!! the food is the reason we always go back as it's really good! but this time the food was all too salty to the point we had to throw it all away! the lamb wasn't cooked and it all tasted pretty disgusting to be honest!! so we are no longer going here which is disappointing as it is lovely food when they get it right but that just got it wrong so many times for us!

Do not order delivery from here, food was good, apart from being cold as it was 2 hours late. When we finally got our food, they had forgotten a whole dish. I had to wait for my dish to arrive another 40 mins later. They should not have a delivery service. But the food is good.
