Great breakfast! Fast friendly service Lots of options on the menu including full English, Turkish eggs, avocado on toast, eggs Benedict, mushrooms on toast as well as a few other options. Would definitely recommend for good value for money and really nice food. Surprised more people don’t know about it. Will definitely return

Arrived today at 9:30am with my 2 children 1 year old and 6 year old and my mum, went up to the counter and asked if it was just the area with the seats (courtyard) as it was FREEZING cold… she then stated there was a little room on the side if it was busy but no we could not sit in there… the eye rolling from the blonde lady and the remarks that was made was NOT NEEDED … we left while she muttered to the other member of staff! YOU NEED TO RE TRAIN YOUR STAFF or get new ones with respect for customers. That is no way to treat to anyone let alone paying customers! Will NEVER return.

We ate here today with friends and found the food warming and the staff welcoming. I chose the BLT and my wife chose the courgette and pea soup, both winter warmers. The chilli con carne I just missed out on - sold out and it looked good. The staff were pleasant and quick to serve.

Popped in here for lunch on a recent visit to Brigg. Its a pretty average lunch place, decent paninis, toasties, with a specials board with things like quiche, soup of the day etc. The food was served fairly quickly and was hot and decent and the cafe itself is pleasantly decorated, light and airy. However, it seems to be staffed by schoolkids who don't have much idea about customer service and did not appear to have anyone supervising or directing. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against schoolkids trying to make a bit of pocket money and they were all pleasant and polite, but someone needs to be in charge and providing some guidance. On arriving at the restaurant, there was only one free table, this had dirty crockery and cutlery on it that the previous users had left. The cafe was fairly busy, so no criticism that this had not already been removed. However, it was completely ignored and left there by the waitress who brought us our cutlery (3 knives and 1 fork for 3 people) and by the very young waiter who brought out the first two meals. It was only removed when I asked the waiter to remove it when he brought out the third meal. In the interests of hygiene, surely this should have been removed and the table wiped when the first waitress brought out the cutlery.

Visited today for a light bite and a pot of tea with my grandma. Lovely sunny courtyard setting which has been styled to replicate how it looked in times gone by when it ran as a hotel. Generous pot of tea for two which we were able to have two cups of tea each with some to spare, lovely brew as they say. Also ordered tea cake for my grandma which was toasted perfectly, some places often toast to much so they end up burnt but not here. I ordered a bagel with bacon and poached egg. (choice of how you wanted your egg was offered). Poached egg was cooked to perfection and was a wonderful golden waterfall as I popped the yoke. There is a lot to be said for and egg well done. Will be sure to visit again and maybe have a slice of one of the huge home baked cakes which were on offer and maybe sit in the cozy snug next time.

I’ve visited on several occasions now on different days and at different times. Every visit has been superb. One of the times I visited it was near closing time, but they still made me a sandwich - and free scones as they were left over at the end of the day. Every time I’ve been, there have been people there - always a good sign. Today I went and was told there would be up to 15 mins wait for my sandwich. Not an issue. But as soon as I sat down and was about to start people watching, my lunch came out! Oh, and they also give 10% discount to members of the Emergency Services. Such a wonderful gesture, and welcomed.

Came here with my mum for lunch after a walk round the lovely town of brigg. I would recommend the beef and horseradish toasted sandwich very tasty especially the homemade coleslaw! Mum had the homemade pate which she said was delicious! The staff were very friendly and service was quick however the only disappointment was the interior is looking a little tatty in areas and could do with an update. The glass roof was a little mossy and dull and could do with a clean and the table we sat at wasn't even and rocked. Even with these little flaws I would defenatly return.

Met a friend for lunch, first visit for both of us. Had reserved a table and they were busy with most tables taken. Seemed to be short staffed as only one lady taking orders , serving and doing drinks and she seemed a bit stressed! It wasn’t clear where the menus were but we found them ourselves and they take orders at the till and it’s pay on ordering. It’s a nice setting but on a chilly day it felt cold as you’re sat in a large conservatory. Noticed most people sat with coats on! Good menu of all day breakfast items, jacket spuds, sandwiches and they did a soup on the specials board. Good prices as well. Drinks weren’t bought to us until we had our food, lady was apologetic. They were happy to top up our teapot so we got about 6 cups from one pot for 2! Both had cake! The biggest slice I’ve ever seen!! 2 pieces for under £5! Both of us wrapped halve each to take home! Good value for money and a nice setting (all be it a bit cold). Will probably return.

We found a table and sat down there was no menu and a customer at another table advised they were near the counter. All the staff were sitting around a table chatting and failed to acknowledge us. We made our choices and went to the till to order..the lady at the till was busy cashing up and had to ask one of the other staff to come over to take our order which they reluctantly got up and came over. At this point I enquired if they were due to close as I felt I was being a nuisance and I was told no they were still taking orders. I paid, the food took longer then expected to arrive considering we had only ordered sandwiches Then when our food arrived they had got the order wrong and forgotten to mention they had run out of coleslaw, which was supposed to have been included with all our meals. They did offer to remake our order but we had waited so long for what had arrived we didn't have time . The staff were not very friendly and food was average. All they could say was sorry...not good enough when we've paid for something and not received it. What was most disappointing was the rudeness of the staff. We won't be going back.

Three of us plus toddler went for breakfast. We couldn’t believe how wonderful and tasty it was. We were given a three tier ‘cake’ stand with two baps, one bacon and one sausage; 2 scotch pancakes, 2 waffles with maple syrup, 2 tea cakes with butter and jam plus 2 drinks - choice of tea or coffee. We only had to buy one more hot drink to make it the best, most cost effective breakfast ever. Staff were brilliant and helpful re toddlers dairy allergy. Couldn’t have asked for better service or food. Soooo good. We will be back and are telling everyone to support this venue. Well done, can’t wait to come back. Carole, Jane, Kate and Connie. xx

Called in for a quick lunch with family. What a lovely little place. The staff were lovely, the menu varied and brilliantly priced. The specials on offer were great (I had a goats cheese, beetroot and walnut salad) and when ordering water, I was offered bottled or tap which was a pleasant surprise; not many places offer you the "free" option. The portions were large to say the least and everything beautifully cooked and nicely presented. Would definitely recommend.

Called at Brigg on the way back from Hull, it was time for drink break. We parked on the main car park & walked through an alley way where we found this cafe. We had home made coffee/walnut cake plus coffees, the prices were very reasonable. The two ladies were very friendly & when they realised we were sharing this large piece of cake they brought us another plate & fork. The coffee came with an amaretto biscuit which my wife said was one of the best she had tasted. She asked who’s they were and the lady said she got them from an Italian warehouse. She was going to sell us a packet but found out it was her last one. She said if we called in next week she would get one for us, however as we lived over a 100 miles it wasn’t possible. If we are ever in the area again we will certainly call again.

Popped in for a coffee and toasted teacake (as you do). Young lady behind the counter asked where I was sitting, presumably so they would know where to bring the order to. Waited 30 minutes and was told "we came out with it but could not find you" Well, I hadn't moved, so I asked how could you have missed me. That's when the other, older, lady behind the counter became REALLY stroppy. I asked for my money back, went across the marketplace to the Steel Rooms and got served in less than 10 minutes. AVOID!!!

Compared to almost anywhere else in Brigg, this café has a limited menu. Despite being able to see it from my office and passing through for years I didn't know that it offered anything other than cakes and tea/coffee until the middle of last year.My wife raved about it having been there last august so we went in today (12th January 2016). A few varieties of sandwich and 4 baked potato fillings, isn't interesting to me. The other cafe's within a few minutes walk are much better.Despite this, I ordered something - for the first time in my adult life baked beans on baked potato! Disappointing to find that the beans were the Lidl/Tesco own brand rather than some recognised market leader. The meals were slung at us with an unintelligible grunt from the person working there.

This cafe is actually in the Angel Suite Courtyard in Brigg. We visited recently and chose a full breakfast and the panini with goats cheese & caramelised onion. Both were very good and freshly prepared. Unfortunately they didn't have all of the breakfast components for some reason but they did substitute with extras of the other items and the toast was very slow in appearing. However we seemed to have caught them on a bad day as they were rushing around to close up early ahead of function - something we weren't made aware of when ordering our food. We'd still give them another go though asit is local for us and the old courtyard setting is nice.

Bit strange that this eating place is said to be located in Scunthorpe and someone is reviewing a completely different place called Amici's in Brigg, but hopefully this is the correct place to review the Courtyard Cafe in Brigg which is what the main heading says. This is the cafe next to the Brigg library and Heritage Centre just off the market place. I have eaten a quick lunch here a few times and yesterday we went for breakfast as Wetherspoons was closed. It was very nice indeed. We had the full breakfast for £4.75 and coffees at £1.50. It was all hot, tasty and well presented with what were said to be Lincolnshire sausages and local bacon. Scrambled eggs instead of fried so much healthier. My wife asked for one without beans and was then given an extra rasher of bacon without asking. I wanted some marmalade on my toast and again when I went and asked I was given some without question. You have to order and pay at the counter and then it is brought to your table when ready. The setting is very pleasant in a glass covered courtyard. This was a little hot when the sun was shining through, but is not likely to be a problem very often. Most people appeared to be just having a hot drink when we went at around 11am on a Saturday morning, but most tables were taken. It's a good place for a quick bite any time of day.

I have been here a couple of times. My initial thought was ' what a wonderful setting'. Clean open space and although roofed over with a glass arch it had the appearance of an outside setting. Unfortunately this is where time wonder stopped and the nightmare started. After waiting what seemed an age to eventually get served we noticed we had to go to the count to make our order. here we were confronted by totally uninterested staff who were not really bothered whether they took our order or not. We ordered cream cheese and smoked salmon sandwiches. Imagine our dismay when after a prolong wait the sandwiches were not present in nice granary style bread but in dry bread buns. A real shame because the venue is excellent and with a bit of effort by management and a friendlier staff this place would be a favourite place to visit.

After half an hour of waiting we found they had misplaced our order ticket & not started preparing our meals. My food rating below is based on what we saw, not what we didn't have!
