We picked this venue due to it's location and ease of access for a big family gathering. None of us are golfers and weren't there for that. We had pre-booked a table for 12 and were given a space upstairs to our selves with a balcony. The place itself was lovely and the staff friendly and very helpful. The real star of the show was the food. We all ordered different things, but the resounding opinion was that it was all excellent and they provided very generous portions. We will definitely consider this for future family gatherings as it is not just a convenient location but we were treated very well in a lovely setting with good food. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and very easy to find. Watch out for the vicious speed restricting bump on the way in, it's not that obvious, but once you know it's there, you certainly look out for the rocks at the side of the road which mark it's presence on the way out.

Went here for a snack lunch a couple of times, the service was prompt and polite, the food excellent and the price very reasonable. As the weather was very hot we sat in a shady part of the courtyard and weren't rushed to leave even though we had finished our meal.

The cafe and restaurant received several accolades in the local press so we went for Sunday lunch. It exceeded all expectations. The staff are very professional and very attentive. The meat was succulent and tender with the best selection of vegetables of any restaurant in the area plus delicious pan gravy. The chocolate brownie was perfection. And with the great views over Rutland Water it was a supreme Sunday lunch. We will be back.

Don't be put off by the fact that this restaurant is on a golf course. Whether you want just a coffee, a snack or lunch, you will receive a warm welcome and attentive service from Matthew and his team in the most pleasant surroundings. My wife and I have been on our own, with the family and with a group from the village for Sunday lunch. We have always enjoyed the food which is of a high standard, plentiful and good value for money.

Have visited this place many times over the past decade and have witnessed first hand the evolution of this cracking little venue. The main attraction is definitely the 9 hole and 18 hole golf courses and driving range but don't be put of if you're a non golfer as this has always been a welcoming and popular place. The cafe/bar offers many interesting and comfortable places to sit both indoors and out, and the have a very large decked balcony with the most spectacular views of Rutland you will find anywhere. The food portions, choices, and quality are spot on too offering the full range of traditional English favourites at pretty reasonable prices. This is all served up extremely professionally by Matthew and his team.

The Café at Rutland water Golf Club is really nice and welcoming. You do not need to play golf to enjoy this Café. The Café is fairly new, serves good food (and real ale) at reasonable prices, and the service is friendly. As well as a great Café, this is a fabulous golf course, with great views of Rutland Water from many of the holes. I look forward to both playing golf and visiting the café the next time, we are on holiday in the area.

Wanted to find somewhere to eat at lunchtime and was pointed to this cafe at Rutland Water Golf Course, don't let the fact that it's at a golf course put you off. The Ploughmans Lunch consisted of ham, pork pie, and the types of cheeses, as well as chutney, salad and fresh bread. My husband said it was the best he'd ever tasted. You need a good appetite or count it as your main meal. The price at £8.50 was worth every penny, the staff were very friendly and helpful.
