Booked a table; no record despite showing the confirmation. Surprisingly not busy shortly before Christmas, but service still so slow as to be appalling. For a place to say they specialise in Calvados, they knew nothing about it. Generic cocktail bar basically; I'm a big Salvador fan so we were drinking straight Calvados. Despite this it took an hour for our drinks to arrive, and to tell one of us the drink she selected was not available, then another 30 minutes for her backup selection to arrive. That's 90 minutes to pour 50ml from a bottle into a glass! Ridiculous, unfriendly and ruined what I was hoping would be a great night tasting different Calvados types.

Absolutely lovely staff, good value drinks and the place is perfectly balanced between the cozy neighboorhood spot and being really sophisticated. Have not tried the food but can really recommend just popping by for a glass off anything, it won't disappoint. Huge thank you!

Came for the cocktails which didn’t disappoint. Once the live piano and whiny singing cranked up though, it was impossible to hold or maintain a conversation. If you’re sitting towards the rear near the piano, skills in Makaton could be useful

Dear Coupette, My experience at your bar was truly awful. I popped in for a drink just after the bar had closed but was advised it's no problem and he can make me a drink, I was unaware of your service times so of course I was hugely impressed you offered to make me a drink, it meant a lot and you made me feel super welcome. I had a cocktail which wasn't very nice and a glass of wine which was good. I left a generous tip of £200 as the bar really is beautiful and the service started off superbly. Unfortunately when I moved around the bar towards the back I was hit in the face by the smell of cannabis coming from downstairs.I raised the alarm to the bartender immediately. The bartender told me that they smoke downstairs after closing and I was absolutely shocked this behaviour was going on and his response which was unbothered and dismissive. I asked for the tip back because you absolutely don't deserve that anymore. You attempted to make me feel ridiculous and to intimidate me you started to record me after I said you could end up having a drug squad in here, you're not at home you're on a premise using illegal drugs after working hours.In order to exit as fast as possible the bartender returned the payment for the drinks too which I said you don't have to do and I said please let me pay for them but I was refused. You where very rude to me and you found it funny that I was complaining, you phoned the bar manager and I'm not sure why you felt the need to do that. You then recorded me and I request you delete those videos of me which further distressed me because any reasonable person would see I am right and you are not allowed to be doing what you're doing.I was trying to leave and have the return of the £200 tip because you had ruined my experience and I was trying to drink my drink as fast as I could and order a taxi. You asked me to hurry up and I did my best whilst panicked and confused with your responses not being to immediately go and tell the people who work here to stop smoking cannabis. I can't understand for the life of me why you would jeopardise the name of this bar to do this. What began as a super impromptu visit and a really kind welcoming turned very bad. Under no circumstances should I be attacked for telling you what's going on is illegal. This is terrible for the great image you had and you should always want to protect that, the sensible thing to have done was admit that I was right and you should have managed it in a way that stopped the smoking, but no, you laughed at me and argued with me which was upsetting. I am truly disappointed beyond measure with this experience and I have had to let the relevant authorities know about what you're doing. You should absolutely not be smoking cannabis and hot boxing a room downstairs your attitude to resolve the issue would have made me trust you take this seriously but you didn't listen. I am absolutely gutted I was the person to discover this because I know this bar is absolutely brilliant for the reasons that brought me to tip you that money because it was a brilliant start. Happy to pay for the wine and cocktail as previously stated if you wish to get in touch, I really want too. You should be ashamed of yourselves to behave like this in such a famous bar and cannabis is an illegal drug if you want to smoke it don't do it in a bar that could be shut down is really scary. You left me with no choice but to raise it to the attention of the relevant authorities.. Anyone who cares about this bar will surely sack the members of staff participating in criminal activity downstairs. I wish I had not had to have a drink with the smell of cannabis around me I don't want to be around it and you shouldn't have put me in that situation. Regards Miss Bradley

Such a lovely bar and cocktails were so tasty - creme brûlée and a nutty cocktail. Waiting staff lovely too and prices so good for london. Only issue was it smelt like a house with a dog - not sure how but only reason for not giving a five star

Good well balanced cocktails in this cool bar in hip Bethnal Green. For a refreshing drink try their Apples cocktail, the only thing is you can drink it too quickly! We had thorough explanation from our waiter on how they pressed the apples for this drink. Also tried Pina colada.... hadn't had one in years, it was superb. You get a bowl of popcorn with the drinks which is a nice touch too. We went early so it wasn't very busy but still nice atmosphere, welcoming, good friendly service.

Coupette is a chic bar in a hip London neighborhood. We had a great experience, and I can’t wait to return. The bar is French-inspired and features a large selection of Calvados; that said, there’s an innovative cocktail program that goes way beyond Calvados. The vibe was casual—darker space, GREAT music, friendly people. We sat at the bar itself (you can make a booking online); the bar surface is covered in old French currency. The bartenders were super friendly and happy to make special things for you, based on your taste, or something out of the multi-page cocktail menu. Their passion for their craft was present without any whiff of snobbery about it. That menu had great variety—boozy bitter stirred stuff, shaken fruity stuff, etc., with a large variety as to the featured spirits. We had two cocktails each, and they were really delicious. They were also sensory experiences: beautiful glassware, the perfect ice for each drink, etc. Small food menu, too; our cheese plate was excellent, with a nice variety of cheese and plenty of bread. Really great experience.

I visited Coupette just before Christmas and had a lovely time. I sat at the bar and was served by Jay who was extremely friendly and attentive, keeping me entertained and advising me on what to order. The food and drinks were delicious and there were lots of excellent non-alcoholic options to choose from. The live music was also lovely, the musician was very talented and also friendly, interacting with the patrons and taking requests. It was a delightful experience and I plan to return as soon as I have the opportunity.

Visited with my girlfriend to give it a try, we had a really good in there. Its very cosy and friendly atmosphere with good selection of drink menu. I can recommend this place if you like more independent place to hunt, i will definitely be back.

I'd visited once before with some friends pre-lockdown, and decided to visit again, this time with my girlfriend. It was great to be sat at the bar again, especially to watch all the staff work, which was a pleasure. They were exceptional. Attentive, knowledgeable, engaging, and all with a smile. We tried numerous cocktails, and enjoyed each and every one of them. The Mojito with the sorbet was a particular highlight of a great evening. Can't wait to come back again.

Good Value, strong cocktails at a reasonable price for London. Nothing to disappoint. The visit was perfect and the service was great. Only thing; the waiter needs to listen about how the bill needed to be split.....The split was not even, so people in the party paid more than others despite asking for a specific split. He needed to listen, rather than rush. That is the only feedback. We were no over charged, but there was a failure in comms. Will be back for sure.

We had a table for four. The staff were all outstanding and attentive and get top marks. The cocktails / wine and beer that we all had were very very good. Indeed as expected the cocktails were actually superb. Unfortunately what was described as a sea plate was a massive let down as everything was deep fried and not presented well at all, piled up and messy. I would have expected a mix of fried ( fish fingers) and grilled or pan cooked perhaps, but no. The sea plate was edible but was like something i would have expected to get at a cheap seaside pub. I expected better.
