great pub, good atmosphere, good choice of beer. Service generally good. The fabric of the pub is perfect and always has been - please don't change it!

Came in for the local derby on Saturday afternoon. The atmosphere was fantastic and even though the pub was stupidly busy we never waited long to get served. The team never stopped and all the real ales were on point and they had a great selection. Can’t fault anything about this place, great beers, super friendly and efficient staff and a welcoming atmosphere

Myself and two schoolmates reunited here at lunchtime, and it was a great venue-comfortable seating and decor, good beer choice, and excellent pepperoni pizzas. I first got a Xmas Chaos porter, which was very Christmassy, but not particularly portery. I followed it with a Merry Merry Christmas, which was a festive stout, which was in a different class- superb. Less spices evident, and a good body and head 👌🏻 A good selection of real ales were on tap, and we had two pepperoni pizzas between us while we were there- the second only because the first had been that good 😋 The only thing that stopped me from giving five stars was the parking situation- having bad knees these days we’d chosen the County because of the car park at the southern face which had previously enabled my parking right outside. This is now a Staff Only facility along with a couple of picnic tables. Boo hiss. Hey ho. I took the car back to my chums’ house nearby and we walked/hobbled along instead. Mental note for next time. And before the PC brigade shop me to plod, my drinks were halves, mopped up by said pepperoni pizza. I think my spelling and grammar prove that my faculties remain unimpaired 😇

Spending early evening on Friday at the County is a great way to start the weekend.The beer is great, the pizzas good value and the staff are excellent. What's not to like?

The County is far and away the best pub in Gosforth. Friendly, inviting, great beer (well kept) and clientele. Bar staff always welcoming. Feels like home from home.

Gosforth High Street boasts eight pubs – and The County is undoubtedly the favourite. The choice of beers here – including cask and craft – is exceptional, and well presented. Management and staff are friendly and welcoming and will go out of their way to make your visit enjoyable. It’s a traditional pub which is cosy and comfortable, and has a pleasant ambience with genial locals who make visitors feel at home. The outside patio area is a great benefit which can be used in all weathers - ish ! Sports fans are well catered for. All the major football and rugby matches are shown on quality screens, and there's often cricket in the afternoons.

I love this pub, it is a stalwart of Gosforth high street. The staff always greet you with a smile and the vegan pizza is delicious. Well done Lesley,Jack and the crew.

Clean, pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff and, most importantly, a great choice of cask and keg craft beer. I enjoyed a 2/3 pint of Wylam Brewery’s Jakehead and Full Circle’s Rotator, both brewed no more than a mile from the pub. Thanks Lesley!

Was running late for a table - tried to call 3 times to advise we were running late to which no one answered, when we arrived we were advised table had been given away - appreciate we were late but when their staff aren’t answering the phone to be greeted by that reception with no alternative is not great service.

We had a close family friends wake here last week, he was a regular drinker in the county, the staff were amazing. They were so compassionate and really made sure that everything was alright and we had everything we needed. They waited on us hand and foot! We can’t thank them enough 10/10

Booked the venue for my husbands funeral as he has been a regular at the county for years. The staff at the venue were excellent and the whole day was huge success for the celebration of my husbands life. Staff were amazing before, during and after the funeral can’t recommend this place enough

Vine aquí temprano el sábado por la tarde para encontrarme con un grupo de amigos durante una tarde viendo el fútbol. Llegamos a las 2 de la tarde, buena selección de cervezas, servicio decente y para las 3 de la tarde había 12 de nosotros pasando un buen rato charlando y revisando nuestras apuestas de fútbol. Todo bien hasta alrededor de las 3. Las 30 de la noche, cuando entró un hombre, pidió que se pusiera el rugby y se sentó solo. Todas las pantallas fueron cambiadas inmediatamente al rugby. Uno de nuestro grupo le preguntó a un barman si se podía cambiar una de las pantallas, pero después de luchar con el control remoto se dejó en el rugby. Los 12 terminamos nuestras bebidas y nos fuimos a un bar mostrando el fútbol, decepcionados de haber tenido que seguir adelante cuando habíamos planeado quedarnos en el condado durante la mayor parte de la tarde y la noche. Parece que este bar está contento de ver 300 - 400 salir por la puerta para acomodar a un 'local'. La próxima vez que estemos en la calle principal para el fútbol, será The Queen Vic.

Called in to see if the pub was showing the Newcastle game or the England rugby game last Sunday and was so pleased to see that they had split screens on in the pub so could enjoy periodically watching the two. Came in alone but got chatting to some of the other customers and had a great afternoon. Staff were as attentive as ever and a really good atmosphere with both rugby and football fans

Tastefully refurbished retaining original features such as stained glass windows. Great range of real ales and wonderful hard working staff under the excellent guidance of the manageress Lesley who always has a friendly chat with the locals. Fabulous!

Thursday afternoon. The one bar woman who seems to be the manager was sitting outside smoking and drinking with her friends while a queue built up at the bar. Eventually got served by her and then she went back outside to resume her socialising. When another staff member came in, she left them to it. 8 at the bar. Rubbish

Called in on Sunday to catch the football. The pub was busy as usual but got served no problem. There were some great beers on sale and sampled a few of them before deciding and when I got my pint it was served to perfection which it always is in all fairness. Great atmosphere and has to be the most welcoming bar on the high street!

Called in with the Mrs this time and the place was fairly busy but was served straight away. I ordered an ale and was offered a try before I selected which one to have. My wife wanted a gin and tonic and the gin selection they have is fantastic. Best on the high street. Ended up staying for a few more that expected and the atmosphere was so relaxed and the staff so friendly.

Me and my partner live next to the Asda in Gosforth and we bypass every other pub to come here as it has the best beer and variety (14 pumps). Friendly pub and great atmosphere.

Was out walking the dog and noticed the pub was dog friendly so called in for a couple of pints. The bar staff made a huge fuss of the dog and even gave him some dog biscuits while I was sitting having my pint. The staff were so friendly towards me and monty (the dog) I now have a great excuse for walking the dog and able to pop in with him on route. Will definitely be back.

Decided the family would have a get together in the county. All had a fantastic night sitting in the room at the back. Was a great vibe about the place and even though it was really busy we had no problems getting served and there were members of staff even taking drinks orders to the tables which gave our evening a very personal feel and were looked after until the end of our visit. Always a favourite place of ours.

Couldn't believe how busy every room in The County was and how warm the rooms were. Thawed out in no time!! Very welcoming bartender who explained if we were eating there would be a forty minute delay. No problem as we were in no hurry. He showed us to vacant seats in one of the restaurants and explained about the specials of the day. He took our order at the bar and our meals promptly arrived. Very reasonable prices and sensible portions. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Background music not too loud. Loos were nipping clean too. Enjoyed our visit.

A great night out with the wife and some of our friends. Plenty of ales and gins to keep us all happy. The Mrs happily tried a few of the gin on recommendation from the staff who all seem to know their stuff and she wasn’t disappointed.

Hace poco visité el condado cuando vi que estaban celebrando un festival de la cerveza. Para el tamaño del pub no esperaba una oferta tan amplia, una botella fantástica y puede variar. E incluso había una lata de comida afuera de la cervecería al aire libre que servía comida de leña que estaba deliciosa. En general, una gran visita y muy recomendable.

Excellent pub, popped into the gunner for the england quarter final. It was packed to the brim which made an excellent atmosphere for watching the game. Pints and prices were spot on what else could you want ale selection was impressive.
