Six of us had a brilliant three course dinner and at £20 per head it must be the best value anywhere in Leamington spa. The price also includes unlimited soft drinks bottled water and tea and coffee. The staff are extremely polite and professional and nothing is to much trouble. The restaurant is immaculatly clean! This special prices menu is also available on Sunday lunchtimes for Sunday roast.

This was our second visit and it was just as good as the first. Had prawns with sweet chilli sauce as starter and then crispy duck salad; others had pate then lamb, all delicious. If you stay at the Angel overnight there would be no point eating elsewhere in the town as you could not better the food here.

Attended a group meal here - organiser had previous knowledge of coming here and it didn’t disappoint.Lovely bar area to meet up in and table was setup nicely when shown through - menu was reasonably priced and nice range. I opted for a steak and ale pie and it was great - big serving and the chunks of steak were plentiful and sizeable too!One of the group went for the sticky toffee pudding and it was huge! So much so it made a lap of the group to try it.....the service was great and even met requests for somewhat different requests for pudding (bowl of custard on its own was lovely!).Overall I’d recommend this to be visited for a meal out with friends, family or groups - just book ahead as it’s not huge but well worth a visit!

We were very pleased to be asked to a good friend's 70th birthday party - he is a wine 'buff' so we knew the wines would be good, and they were. Once we were all sat down we were served with a delicious langoustine cocktail with a delicious Marie rose sauce followed by one of the best Beed Wellingtons I have ever had. Everyone without exception said how good it was, quite a feat as its difficult to get it right for half a dozen people let alone 70! It was served with Dauphinoise Potatoes, cauliflower cheese green beans and carrots along with a superb red wine and mushroom sauce - absolutely first class. This was followed by an excellent Chocolate brownie - although I think the portions were a little too generous and finished with a really good cheeseboard selection. It was not only one of the best meals I have had recently but considering the number, they were catering for it was really first class

My wife and I were visiting Leamington Spa and we studied reviews of this restaurant which were variable. We noted that menu prices away from the main centre (The Parade) were attractive and we decided to try this one. It took a little finding as it is located in a road which runs parallel to The Parade but about 200 yards away via Regent Street. However, our search proved well worthwhile as we had a most enjoyable lunch at a very reasonable price. We arrived shortly after midday and there were no other diners in the room. It is quite large with subdued lighting and all was clean, tidy and well presented. We were greeted by a cheerful gentleman called Simon who we believe is the manager and he served us throughout. We selected the 3 course set lunch which offered 5 choices for all courses. The portions were generous and well presented. Service was most attentive. As the weather was warm and sunny, we took our coffee on the terrace.Throughout the meal there were only two other diners in the room and we couldn't understand why as everything was first class. Apparently, it is difficult to attract people away from the main thoroughfare. Their loss was our gain!We will certainly return on our next visit to Leamington Spa.

The counting house of leamington spa appears to be a hidden gem,on approach it seems tucked away in a relaxed row of buildings not far from other regular pubs, but on entry opens up into a delightful eating room,it presented both warm and comfortable with subtle lighting, clean modern fixtures and fittings ,and very friendly sociable staff ...Although it was lunch time [.we were a table of 3 ]we were greeted politely, shown to our table quickly ,and offered drinks and menu's within minutes...we were first given some nice chunks of granary bread with fresh butter and extra virgin olive oil as a "dip" which seemed a nice touch....Two of us ordered pan fried pork chops with gravy, mash and an assortment of veg that was well presented, full of flavour and tasted delicious, our other member ordered beef strogonnof to which they said it was generous of beef and also tasted delicious....We ended our meal with creme 'brullie".,choc cheesecake with ice cream and the" cheeseboard" which incidently had a good chunk of 3 seperate cheeses,a generous nob of butter, and a selection of 6 assorted crackers...There was also an ample selection of drinks to choose from [ but please remember this venue is more of a resturant than a pub ]..We agreed it was a very commendable 2course menu and brilliant value for £10:95 a head..to which we would like to thank all staff involved for giving us a well cooked satisfying meal and excellent service...."regards to you all...martin"

I went with a group of 8 friends for our yearly reunion and we booked in advance. Drinks in the bar were fine and the food was good (except risotto a bit bland and peas burnt in places?!) but our waitress was obvioiusly having a bad day and didn't want to hide it! Everyone at the table noticed and we tried to ignore it as WE were having a good time! One other note - a dessert menu in laminated pastic thumped onto the table is not in keeping with a restaurant that is trying to be an upmarket establishment.

We ate in here as part of our B&B package at the Angel Hotel to which it is attached. Friday night Fish and Chips are legendary but we also found the breakfast pretty good. Nice decor, but lots of competition in the town centre so it looked a little quiet in the evening - however, that does mean when its quiet you can do the romantic thing, which is not so easy in some of the busier places. Overall - yep I would go back and would enjoy eating there again

Very impressed with food, service and surroundings - small touches like bringing a jug of water and bread with a balsamic and oil dip, and recommending menu choices. Starters of smoked salmon and prawn salad and chicken liver pate both went down well, as did the mains of lasagne and roast half chicken (the piri-piri sauce was indeed hot as the waitress had warned!) with delicious chips. i have used the angel hotel for many years for special meals . we have always been treated so well......... until the 13 June 2013 the evening of my mums 94Th birthday . What a awful night we had , my chicken meal that i shared with Mum was cold the bone of the chicken was cold to touch , after finding a "manager" of sorts he took chicken and had re-heated ...to be bought back by waitress , with no apology other than to say--one of those things !!!!! Not wanting to ruin our mums night we carried on the evening , i was finishing my salad and garlic bread when the very same waitress came and took my plate away from me as i was eating from it . i said i haven't finished, she lied and said she had asked .I went again to the manager and asked what was wrong with his staff he said ,he didn't now , and discounted £3.00 from the bill , i am so sad Mum had this awful experience on her special day at a place we trusted after so many lovely meals a apology for such incompetence would of been more acceptable than a £3.00 discount. I hope our very unacceptable , sad night acts as a warning to those of you who want a special night for someone special .. TRY JOES CAFE .

Three of us had lunch here on Saturday. The entrance to the restaurant is at the side of the Angel Hotel. The restaurant was light and airy with a modern feel. We were shown to our table by a friendly waitress. We could order off the main menu or a special lunch menu which had 5 starters and 5 mains and was £9.95 for the two courses. We each ordered a different starter and while we waited we were given a plate of two different types of bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar which was very tasty. Our starters arrived. One was Chicken liver Pate with pear chutney and toast which was delicious. The second was Roasted Butternut Squash soup which was extremely good and piping hot and the third was a fan of melon with raspberry sorbet which was also very tasty. Our mains were Risotto with blue cheese and spinach which was delicious and two of us had Lambs liver with creamy mash. These too were delicious. It is so easy to overcook liver but this was cooked perfectly, so was moist and tender. We were offered desserts and coffees but we did not have room. The meal for the three of us with a soft drink each was under £35.00 which for the quality was superb. If we are ever back in Leamington Spa we will defiantly eat here again.

We both had roast beef and yorkshire pud. It was lovely, albeit they scrimp on the gravy. The roast parsnips were chewy and yummy. We both had toffee icecream and a choc sponge, which was beautifully presented but I have to say didn't hit the mark on taste- it didn't really taste of very much.I finished with a very disappointing coffee, it was tepid and weak. Great food, great service, lovely surroundings - what more could you want? The menu is quite varied and the food is absolutely top quality, without breaking the bank. The staff are very friendly and attentive too. For lunch or dinner I would highly recommend it - you won't be disappointed!

Having eaten at most of Leamington's restaurants, we took a gamble on this - from the perspective of eating at a hotel's restaurant. We were very pleasantly surprised. On arrival we were given a choice of where to sit "wherever you would be more comfortable"....what a refreshing change! We opted for a table of 4, despite only being 2 - as 2 of the 3 tables for two were filled...I hate sitting on top of people. Anyway, the menu was varied and tempting and the service was very good. Fish and chip Friday was a good deal but we opted to share a baked camembert with walnut bread and onion chutney (plenty of bread was provided) - there was the odd lump of garlic, but it wasn't so raw as to be unpleasant. For mains we had ribeye steaks - both cooked medium rare served with home-made peppercorn and bearnaise sauces. Lovely soft meat and served with a steak knife which you rarely get these days. I washed mine down with a nice glass of house red (Malbec). The pudding menu looked inviting and the strawberry icecream tasted home-made and was delicious. The interior is modern and clean and plenty of staff around to assist. So, two reasons why I didn't give it a 5: 1. There was very little atmosphere until I asked if they could put some music on, which they duly did.2. The waitresses started laying the unoccupied tables for breakfast (at 8.30pm) which reminded you that you were in a hotel. They could have waited until restaurant guests had departed. We will return again, the food really was very good and the bill very reasonable. Give it a try if you are a bit stir-crazy of your usual favourites.

Getting a restaurant reservation in a nice restaurant in Leamington Spa at the weekend can be quite tricky. We have discovered a hidden gem which is the Counting House restaurant at the Angel Hotel. I'm almost apprehensive about reviewing it as we can always get a reservation when we want it and I would hate that to change. The restaurant is fairly recently renovated with a stylish "mid centruy" retro feel. We have been on four occasions in the last two months. Each time the food has been lovely. It has a European theme with simple, fresh, well cooked ingredients. There are lots of daily specials, for instance always a scallop dish, a fish of the day and a homemade pie. It is good value with some amazing bargains. For instance, on a Friday evening, you can have fish and chips for two people with a bottle of wine for £22. The service is great. . We like the wine list and are particulalrly fond of the house white - a gorgeous savignon/ semillion blend. This restaurant comes highly recommended!

Absolutely amazing place. I went in yesterday ordered two breakfasts to take out and the owner made me an Earl Grey, chatted to me about Scotland, whilst I was waiting for my food to be cooked.

We stayed in the Holiday inn. Across the road. We love indian food. So thought we would try Sunam. Lovely staff. Very friendly. We had poppadoms with chutneys. Witch was lovely. Wife had chicken Biriani. I had Handi Gosht. OMG. Big chunks of Lamb that fell apart. Probably the best Lamb I've had. In the best curry I've had for a while. Wife was more than happy with her Biriani. I seen a Naan bread called Mr Lee's Naan. Apparently he's a regular who asked them to make the Naan it's got a bit of everything in it. So they put it on the menu. Lamb. Cheese. Chilli. Corriander. The best Naan we've had. Highly recommended. 👍
