Sunam best Indian in the UK. I've been London, I've been Norwich, I've been Newcastle, I've even been Cornwall. I haven't been Wales (don't really want to tbh). And this is by far the best I've ever had. Curry, service, atmosphere... 10/10. Bring your own beer? Yes please.

The service was excellent overall, and the food was amazing.

One of the worst Indian meals I have ever had. Seekh Kebab starter was like rubber. Chicken Tikka was over cooked. Think it was reheated from the night before. Chicken Jalfrezi didn’t taste great and the portion was very small. If u are going to charge someone good money at least give them a proper portion. When I told the waiter portion was very small and I would have to eat again when I got home he just ignored me. Can’t believe how busy the place was considering standard of the food.

Popped in for a quick evening meal . Staff were welcoming and it’s a good location for the restaurant with plenty of parking. However, food was okay ,but nothing special . Just felt the room needed a bit of TLC too.

Flat drinks both of us, popadums were nice but mains not good at all. Service was not professional at all.

Appalling customer service, booked a table for 7.30pm via online reservation system. Arrived to be told booking was for 6.30 as thats what was in thier diary, showed my email confirmation which clearly showed 7.30pm! Was told the book said 6.30, again stated I had a confirmation email, manager asked someone to check reservation system who confirmed 7.30 was correct, manager asked me to wait and then went to kitchen and never returned for 15 mintues at which point I left. Will never go again

Along with similar recent reviews I have to say the plot has been lost. Food good as always, but having to wait for our 6:30 table reservation and then a further 2 hours for our meal to arrive was simply unacceptable. Victims of their own success. Toilets were a filthy disgrace. Management basically disinterested, lame excuses. It seems fairly obvious, once you sit down at your table any and all takeaway orders take priority over your requirements. Have been a regular customer for many years and have previously posted 5 star reviews. Won't be doing that again, won't be going back. Told the head man exactly that - not interested.

Had a meal here while visiting family in Kenilworth. It was very busy but the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the service was excellent. The food was delicious- we all had different dishes, and all enjoyed our meals. The prices were very reasonable. I look forward to going again

I ordered a Chicken Chilli Masala and was struck by how bland the sauce was and how white and hard the chicken seemed (no sauce had penetrated the flesh) and the chillies were still dark and firm - it felt like they'd just taken a sauce then quickly stirred in chopped chillies plus chicken without really cooking it together. My colleague mentioned the lamb in her Jal Frezi was a bit dry, so we guessed this was their approach to creating those dishes: just drop additional ingredients into a sauce at the last minute. Another of our party ordered the Rezalla after tasting mine at the Indian Edge the prior night, but said that this one wasn't as good as mine he'd sampled. A pity, as last meal from there was okay - but may decide to stick to the Indian Edge in future.

I guess it’s life. A good place gone very mediocre. Too many tables, large parties, chaos, 90 minute wait for food, rude staff, food lost its sparkle. Moving on.

Absolutely lovely totally recommend coming here bonus you can bring your own drink but the food we had was tasty hot poppadoms curry and nan then a naughty dessert Kulfi

We have been coming to the Sunam for over 30 years now and have never had a bad meal or service. I cannot get over the bad reviews. The food quality is superb and the staff can never do enough for you. We wouldn’t go anywhere else and it’s the first place my son always wants to go when he comes home! The menu is huge but they will always cook whatever you want to suit your requirements and taste. There is no better balti house.

Great dinner. Exceptional value and very friendly staff. Able to bring your own wine is a great advantage. Even brought an ice bucket for our wine. Will definitely visit again.

Have been going here for over 10 years was very disappointed tonight. Tika masalla wasn’t creamy was like tandoori. Chicken was chewy. Everything was very mediocre and small portions.

We stayed in the Holiday inn. Across the road. We love indian food. So thought we would try Sunam. Lovely staff. Very friendly. We had poppadoms with chutneys. Witch was lovely. Wife had chicken Biriani. I had Handi Gosht. OMG. Big chunks of Lamb that fell apart. Probably the best Lamb I've had. In the best curry I've had for a while. Wife was more than happy with her Biriani. I seen a Naan bread called Mr Lee's Naan. Apparently he's a regular who asked them to make the Naan it's got a bit of everything in it. So they put it on the menu. Lamb. Cheese. Chilli. Corriander. The best Naan we've had. Highly recommended. 👍

Really nice food and a very vibrant atmosphere and reasonably priced.

Staying overnight at the Holiday Inn on 16th August, could see this place was packed, so decided to join the queue. We were seated within ten minutes, the atmosphere was fantastic with the ZAPP attendees and locals. Staff were attentive, foid came quickly and chicken balti was up there with one of the best I have ever tasted!

I always start with the positives of any review I leave. So here’s the negatives, being served fizzy tap water in a S.Pelledrino bottle and desperately trying to hide the fact it had already been opened is shameful. The food tasted awful with cheap & old chicken used along with an attempt to cover this using lashings of garlic which failed it was that bad. The service was almost as poor as the atmosphere but only just. All this along with the smallest portions I’ve ever seen served in an Indian establishment means I shall be avoiding this restaurant for ever and ever.

Can't beat the service or the food. Love this place and their Scampi and chips!🤣

It has been Ten years due to moving house since we were weekly at the Sunam balti..THE STAFF FOODand PLACE is STILL AMAZING 😁😅....Highly reccomend this fantastic balti house from young to mature The welcome and food is exceptional...Even the staff remembered us even though were all a bit greyer now🤣🤣And the same chef is still there 31 years🍾🥂 cheers to all you food is Amazing we will see you all again soon and Not another 10 yrs.. Despite having booked our table weeks ago the restaurant had no space for us when we arrived. Their policy is to cram in as many people as possible and never mind those people who have booked - a totally unacceptable way to run a restaurant. Avoid at all costs. We walked out and went to Raj Spice next door where we were treated to magnificent food with superb and swift serviceAvoid at all costs

Great evening dining. We booked last minute and glad we did so as it was absolutely buzzing. Waiters were run off their feet but never missed a beat and were unfailingly polite. Delicious food and very reasonable price. Wish we lived nearby as we would return ASAP!

Spotted this restaurant while we were staying in Kenilworth, and decided to book a table, which was the best decision we made ! Very busy when we arrived, which is always a good sign ! We chose paneer, and golda chingri starters, which were both excellent, and for mains we had, gosth katta masala, sunam special, with parathas, rice, and mushroom bhaji, they were absolutely amazing, best Indian food we’ve had in a very long time ! The staff were run off their feet, but our food was hot, and brought to our table in good time. I highly recommend visiting this little gem, make sure to book !

Been to the Sunam hundreds of times over the past 12 years leaving in Kenilworth. Never have we had a bad meal. Would recommend it to anyone who loves their curry. Plus you can always take your own drinks along. Great service and lovely owners who always make you feel welcome.

I thought it was great...New to me and the food was good.

Delicious local Indian. Poppadoms were so fresh and pickles delicious. I had the dashawari with paneer (basically a peshwari naan in curry form which is my favourite thing). Really tasty, very sweet but that suited me. Had it with chapatis which was the perfect accompaniment. Mushroom side was verrrrry salty wouldn’t order again. Everyone else enjoyed their food too. reasonably priced too!

Went in there with 14 friends. Great service given how busy it was. Everyone loved their food from chicken tandoori, vege dishes, fish and lamb. Starters and side dishes tasty. Just a range of lovely dishes. Just wish it still did kingfisher beer! Highly recommended

Nous avons extrêmement bien mangé et surtout avons été très bien conseillé sur les plats plus ou moins épicés. On peut même amener sa propre bouteille de vin pour accompagner les plats.

I dined alone quite early in the evening so the restaurant was not busy when I arrived but it did get busier while I was there. I had Onion Bhaji for starters and a Lamb Biryani for my main. Both were delicious. The service was very quick and the waiting staff were very polite.

We chose a great option and visited this Indian restaurant. The food was very tasty with rich flavours 😋The restaurant is clean and cozy. Nice Indian music and excellent service. Our waiter was professional. Everything was on time. The toilet room was clean. I recommend!🥰

This is great curry house - it has a homely traditional feel to it where the focus is on the food & the service. The chicken balti and chicken xhacuti are stand outs. We came here twice in a week 👍🏻

I went to the sunam last night for my birthday with family and girlfriend, having not been there for years and the food was very good and the staff were very friendly an excellent service I would definitely recommend it if you like a good curry and great atmosphere,

Ordered takeaway twice now, always given an estimated time, food arrives hot and delicious and driver is always in a suit which is sweet! Lovely restaurant, really fab they include allergens on all dishes too

Very good Indian food. Got a takeaway for an overnight stay. Very fast and efficient and friendly, obviously loved by the locals. Very nice taste to the dishes, recommended!

Terrible service. Lack of any empathy - we had not long arrived to have a family meal to celebrate a birthday, when one member of our family became ill suddenly - to the point of needing an ambulance blue lighted and then being taken to hospital. The service we received after that point was horrid. The short man, who appears as the boss of the restaurant, is a disgrace. Been many times before and the food is good, but the service has always been ok - not bad not good. Tonight it was disgusting given the emergency circumstance. I’d avoid.

One of our party had placed a reservation ahead but when an advance party of us four turned up without him and mentioned his name, they ignored it and immediately led us to a table with only four seats. When we mentioned we were a bigger party, they kept asking how many - we didn't know how many had been reserved and they couldn't find any information about the reservation... so we just sat and waited until the rest appeared. But it didn't show their reservation system in good light. Nonetheless, we were seated and sorted with pints of draught cobra, along with poppadums with a quite good range of 5 accompaniments, the mango chutney having a nice background bite rather than be over-sickly sweet. There was a pleasant smell of caramelised onions and tikka from frequently-brought sizzling platters all around us, and it was clear they cater for quite a variety of tastes and ages. Next time I may try a shashlick! I opted for the Tikka Chilli Massala, which was categorised as only one chilli strength, but came with plenty of sliced green chillies that created good heat spikes as punctuation, rather than have a dull samey burn throughout. Another of our party went for the Maricha - which was pretty bitey and let people know they'd ordered one with kick. The restaurant had an authentic Indian feel. The food was really great and pricrs were lower than you would expect.

Food is excellent but service was lack lustre. Added to this, the fire alarm went off repeatedly and the owner refused to call out a engineer to fix it, presumably because it would have cost money. He was still happy to take new reservations/diners despite the deafening fire alarm sound. A small discount on the bill was given but in no way compensated for the thoroughly disrupted evening. Thanks Sunam - in future, please consider your customers experience ahead of the money going in your pocket. Greed never pays in the long term.

I can't remember the name of the dish I ordered. It was so fricking good. NOT for the faint hearted. If you want delicious butter chicken they got it. If you want hot, I had like a Lava Chicken curry. So hot I was sweating for an hour. Maricha! That's what it was called. I dare you!

Food is decent. Service is a impersonal. Poppadoms were cooked in old oil and served with cheap, sugary sauces. When asked for a special order, shortcuts were made.

Good food and service as normal and on a nice evening you can sit outside to eat as well!

Always have a lovely meal here and being able to bring your own drinks is a big bonus!!

Visited with friends on a very busy weekend evening, having previously visited numerous times with family. Service is prompt and friendly, the mains are always exceptional. Decor is simple and plain, but very clean, but you are going for great food and service.

Nice place and nice food. you can take your own drinks but not soft drinks. beware I purchased 2 half pints of coke and was charged £14 bit of a P## take to be honest, no need to charge that much for soft drink.

Good selection of pickles with the popadoms but my Dhansak missed the mark. The sauce was good and thick with lentils but it had neither the sweetness of pineapple nor he zing of lemon - which is surely the whole point if a dhansak?

A very relaxing meal out with family. Friendly, smiley, helpful staff, excellent choice of meals, delicious food. We haven't been for a long time but we'll be going back soon.

Can't fault the food it is brilliant here. You can bring your own booze which is always a bonus or of course buy when you are there. Food is really tasty lots on the menu to choose from and very friendly staff who cant do more for you apart from one waiter who is constantly fairly shirty but maybe that's just his personality. Would recommend as one of the best places to eat in Kenilworth.

Nice Indian restaurant, staff very efficient , friendly and attentive, food and service was excellent .The menu has plenty of choice and they have a well stocked bar , but if you want to , you can bring your own drink . A lovely evening had by all .
