Cottingham Tandoori in East Riding of Yorkshire

Ordered a few curries tonight for a family get together, as part of the order we ordered a chicken tikka madras and chicken jalfrezi. The order came with two jalfrezi’s, no madras, when we phoned to ask for it to be rectified we were told that wasn’t what we ordered and that they repeated the order at the time, they did, but repeated it with a madras. I explained this to the staff who were rude and said I’d need to pay for another madras if they were to bring one. Also food wasn’t great, greasy naans and bhaji’s, Shocking attitude and service, won’t be visiting again!!!!

Haven’t been for a while, thought we’d try it as it was always tasty even though they more often than not made mistakes and omissions with the order. Was shocked at prices - most up between 20% and up to 50% !!!! My dish on the website said it came with king prawns, in the shop menu on wall clearly said king prawns but it didn’t have any. When I asked I was told “don’t do em wi that no more” and that was that - I asked for king prawns and they said they would have to charge me £3 each….. then shrugged his shoulders and said there “won’t nowt I can do” Shocking customer service, stratospheric prices, chicken and lamb tikka so salty it was almost inedible, stale popadoms, tasteless salad and mint yoghurt, Balti sauce ok but my naan was soggy. Terrible experience, terrible prices, terrible customer relations, pretty poor food in comparison to what it used to be. Probably been 100 times or so in my 55 years but NEVER EVER AGAIN FOR SEVERAL REASONS - EXORBITANT Price POOR Quality POOR Service SHOCKING “couldn’t give a ****” Attitude AVOID AVOID AVOID

The have a great menu with a wide choice and their authentic 'specials' are a delight! If you order to collect they are always on time and their delivery service is similar; everything arrives hot and tasty!

Have used Cottingham Tandoori quite often and never been disappointed, however tonight’s meal was exceptional! Such amazing flavours, cannot do better !!!

I have probably had around 30-40 meals from here over the years and usually been top notch. Today picked one up on the way home, they had made a mistake with the starter but hey everyone is human. The meat in the starter was? I don't know other than tough and not very tasty. The main meal, as someone has previously pointed out, the chicken was really tough and not very good quality, the sauce was nice but lacking in green pepper. The garlic naan again was below par, used to be fab. Sorry but whilst the price has gone up the quality has gone down and despite very nice staff I cant see me going back anytime soon.

Went to order online but order wouldn’t go through. Kept saying card was declined. Rang them to tell them we were having a problem ordering and was abruptly told it wasn’t their problem. There was no apology or attempt to solve the issue. Was rudely told it was nothing to do with them. They didn’t offer to try and take my order over the phone so will not order from them again. Very poor and rude customer service.

Don't usually write reviews on here, but we feel obliged to let others know before they make the same mistake ordering from here. We ordered from Cottingham Tandoori on Easter Sunday, one butter chicken and one butter lamb, 2 rice, 2 poppadoms and mango chutney and one garlic naan and one peshwari naan. The curry tasted like a bland tikka massala and both were lamb rather than one chicken! Very watery and lacked any flavour, tasted worse than a jar from a supermarket. As well, instead of one peshwari, one garlic naan we got given two garlic naans instead which were doughy. The rice was average and the poppodams were the only decent item. We payed around £25 for all of this and didn't even get what we ordered. Unless they are able to redeem themselves this will be the first and last time we order from here.

Just had the best chicken tandoori extra onions salad mint sauce ,would highly recommend ordering from here can’t wait to order again .So polite over the phone and delivered in about 40 minutes ,well done to the chef 😀

Like previous reviews we have used this takeaway for the last 5 years or so, the last 2 meals were disappointing as the chicken was really tough. Gave them one last try tonight hoping it was just a glitch however it was the same tough chewy chicken, the sauce and the rice were delicious but as I said the chicken was almost inedible. Sadly the last time I will be using this takeaway. Owners please take note, use fresh chicken not frozen.

We have used this takeaway for many years as we live in cottingham.we got two chicken Currys in both Currys the chicken was very tough and awful that was a few months ago so we thought we would give it another try thinking it was a one off. So we ordered again but it was just the same the chicken was as tough as old boots in both meals Very disappointed maybe they have changed the chef ...maybe we should change our Indian takeaway and try somewhere else. Same as we like to buy local Very disappointed .

Chicken tikka masala was awful few tiny pieces of chicken in a watery sauce so disappointing. The other dish chicken tikka dopiaza was also lacking in meat. Will not be using this takeaway again.

Ordered 4 meals from here on Saturday night which were all bland and all had horrible chewy chicken, I'm guessing the reason for this is cooking chicken from frozen, would never use again, all meals ended up in the bin.

Had our first family takeout! 4 different main courses and sides included, every dish was delicious! Great value for money and would highly recommend!! X

The best curry i’ve had in my life. The way the meat melts in your mouth as well as the rush of garlic and other flavours. The Chicken Jalfrezi is my fave.😋❤️

Overjoyed that they're back! For the short time they were closed recently we had to venture elsewhere and we did not like what we found! We placed an order as soon as they reopened - the food was amazing, as ever! Great people, reasonably priced and tastes good every time. Never close again!

An excellent meal with friends and a nicely cooked and tasty selectionof Asian dishes. Decor rather shabby and the carpet badly frayed but well worth the visit.

We visited here after previous positive recommendations. Called the order in, told 30 minutes, was closer to an hour’s wait. When we got home (which isn’t local), we opened burnt onion bhajis with no salad or sauce, and curries hotter than normal, but with raw tasting spices and uncooked onions. The chips were sweaty and not fully cooked. The rice was okay, and the naans were actually really nice. Just generally disappointing, will not be returning.

Ordered a vegetable jalfrezi, extra hot, with garlic rice. It was the most delicious curry I've ever tried.

We were regular customers here and despite a few minor issues we don’t normally have any problems. Today though they were the worst. Onion Bhaji’s were extra extra crunchy (polite description), there was no sauce or salad and lemon garnish. We had ordered Tandoori mixed kebab and got a tandoori chicken piece and we ordered and paid for two pilau rice and got only one. The gent on the phone pretended not to be able to hear me! I shall not be going there again

The debate in our house is always between Chinese, Indian or pizza.On this occasion, the Indian won and we ordered from Cottingham Tandoori.Cottingham Tandoori has been a go to for Indian food for us for a while. It's very rare that we get something that disappoints.Occasionally we order something that is too hot or not hot enough.On this occasion, we ordered a Chicken Thali with an extra naan bread and some poppadoms.I was told the order would be ready in 15 minutes and it was ready right on time.The food didn't disappoint, as normal. The chicken curry and chicken bhuna were well flavoured and not too hot for the various tastes in the house. There was plenty of food to go round, and not much left at the end. The thali comes with rice, chicken kebab and mixed vegetable bhajee, and at a price which is good value.We were all left feeling full and I know for sure that we'll be ordering from here again.We're always greeted with a friendly smile and never kept waiting for our food. In fact, writing this, I'm already looking forward to my next curry from here.

Got a leaflet through the door the other week and last night decided to try this place. The food was very good; lots of it and it was great quality. All dishes were accurately described in terms of content and how ‘hot’ they were. There were 4 adults and two small kids and we all ate well for £40. Only slight disappointment was the chicken pakora - not very authentic as they were breaded (but I can forgive this one little annoyance!).Overall a lovely meal and we will definitely use them again.

First Indian takeaway we have had after moving to Cottingham, food was very strange, large portions but not like any Indian we have ever had before well hope the other Indian takeaways locally are better than this!

We tried this for the first time last night and really enjoyed it We ordered the set menu for 2 and it was great value for money and we coulxnt eat it all!

Went here for our annual New Years Eve treat and were not dissapointed there are Indian take aways much nearer to us but always prefer to drive from Newbald to Cottingham . Staff always pleasent and helpful not a cheap take away but worth every penny

Fab curry, poppodoms, starters, not too expensive , delivery service available, fast delivery, plenty to choose from it is a take away only

I wouldn't recommend getting your food delivered as the last 3 times I had it delivered it has been very late ,over an hour !!,I've had to call to check it was on its way , & when it finally arrived the food has been cold . It's a shame that the delivery service is so poor as the food is usually lovely when eaten hot .

Como es difícil disfrutar de una salsa sin biriani pedi que se entregan. También pedimos un nan de ajo. 10 minutos más tarde entregado tanto y nos insistió en que pagar por el nan de ajo. Dado que nos pasamos 45 libras y las molestias causadas a uno de los clientes que tenía que sentarme y esperar por su salsa mientras todos escondido, me pareció que la nan hubiera dado gratis como una buena se gesto. No hay manera de tratar a sus clientes leales! ! ! !

We have been using clotting ham tandoori for quite a while now and we have never been disappointed. The menu is varied and has a few specialities we have never tried before.

We have regularly bought a takeaway from here, the food is fantastic tasty and well flavoured and a good choice too. The staff are very helpful and will help you choose new dishes

We ordered a family takeaway, i had vegetable bhuna and the wife shared a chicken korma with rice and a naan bread with our daughter. The portion sizes were generous and the taste was superb. Delivery was quicker than estimated and the service was polite and very courteous. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Fantastic had food from here since the day it opened never been disappointed always great , staff helpful and willing to tweak the dishes to suit .

I have lived in Cottingham for all of my life, so have seen business's good and bad come and go over the years.This take-away though has well and truely stood the test of time, people as a whole can be very fickle when it comes to paying for unessasary extra's like take-away treats(especially in our current financil climate) they will cut out treats altogether or go to were ever they get the best bargin or deal and a unfortunatly a business will only survive if you offer consistantly top notch food and service for the right price, and i'm happy to say that this is exactly what Cottingham Tandoori offers every single time, never once have we had a cold or bad take-away from here, if we collect it's always ready and waiting for us (never cold always piping hot) and if we get it delivered its always on time (never late or again cold) and the prices have stayed competitive and similar over the twenty odd years that they have been trading .I think the fact that they have stood the test of time speaks volumes, and think you would be missing out on a very and tasty experience if you came to Cottingham and didn't partake in a tasty treat from Cottingham Tandoori.

This is now the only Indian take away we ever use now in the area, always fresh and hot. The meat is of a good standard and the service is good.

Disappointed, not only was it expensive it didn't taste nice! One dish a Korma tasted bitter and not sweet like all the other korma we have had and the colour was brown!! Also a £1.50 delivery charge to drive around the corner! All other places only charge a £1.

Ive always ordered a chicken garlic chicken Korai with rice,chips and naan bread from here on numerous occasions and it has always been cooked to perfection.The delivery time has always been reasonable and they have never disappointed on the end product.I've recommended this place to a few of my friends and they agreed with me and really enjoyed their meals when they ordered a takeaway.This is by far the best takeaway in Cottingham and well worth a try to all Indian lovers out there!!!!!

We have just had a meal from cottingham Tandoori. Delivery was spot on time and the food was really hot as if it had just been cooked. The food was lovely and tasty and plenty of it. I can't fault this place at all. Look forward to ordering again.

Searching on trip advisor for a take away and found this one.Very quick service food excellent!!!Only thing purely on a personal note, ordered a madras but was a lot spicier than other madras I have had, maybe have to go one step lower on the spice front next time.All be it worth a visit

The staff were polite and the timescales given for delivery realistic. When the food came the meat was good quality and all the food was nice and pretty much restaurant standard for this area. It was not the hottest but we do live 15 minutes away and they never put any yoghurt sauce for the mixed kebab. But overall very good indeed and we would go back and advise anyone to try. 9/10 for me.

We ordered online which was very easy and had the food delivered at a nominal cost (I don't know how they do it). The food was hot on delivery too. Three of us ordered Indian food as you would in an Indian!!! My poor father however cannot eat Indian so played it safe with scampi and chips, big mistake. Chips were good however the scampi was very strange and came with a blanket of onions and mushrooms, it was quite odd as the scampi wasn't in batter. But the Indian food was just brilliant, so nice to have different flavours and not just bland sauces. The chicken was very nice and didn't taste processed, the lamb was proper tasty. I really think it's one of the best Indian meals I've had in the uk.

This our local Indian Takeaway and never fails to please. 5 Star rating for hygeine, staff hygeine certificates on display, polite and helpful staff in smart uniforms, and a wide and varied menu which is modestly priced. You get the clear impression that everyone here is trying really had to please, and indeed are succeeding, in running a first class establishment.My wife and I are very choosy about takeawys, and this is the only one that we never have hesitation in using and recommending to friends. It comes as no surprise to see that other reviews accord with ours.I'm writing this reviiew as - along with our son and daughter in law - tonight we've enjoyed yet another excellent meal so it would be churlish to not pay a compliment for that!

Our monthly takeaway treat. Always fantastic quality, always piping hot, always delivered on time. You can also order online which is a fantastic bonus.

We decided by chance to give this takeaway a try and I'm so pleased we did. The food was simply fantastic! Unlike some Indian takeaways it was not swimming in oil and the flavours were vibrant and fresh. The portion sizes were ample and the prices were very reasonable. The man serving us was very pleasant and helpful. We will definitely use this takeaway again (and again!).

Ordered a takeaway from Cottingham Tandoori after reading the reviews on here. They were 100% to point, the food came within 20 minutes of ordering and was obviously made with fresh ingredients. Full of flavour and and rice was light and tasty. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area, Also was a very reasonable price, curries are around £4 which is perfect if you're on a budget.

I don't often have takeaways these days because of poor experience in the past but for a treat and a change we decided to have one. Chose Cottingham Tandoori as we had received a menu through our door. My dansak and husbands madras were just right with plenty of meat and tasty sauce. It was a reasonable price and very efficient service. Recommend!

We always use cottingham tandoori, we have a very fussy order of madras no onion and rogan josh no tomato and they always agree to do this (most Indians don't!) their food is lovely! And good friendly service :)
