Pitched up last Saturday night, with my dog 🐶 Place was very busy (also a wedding being catered for upstairs & outside) I sat inside & was informed I could sit anywhere and a bowl of water brought straight away for dog, without asking. My drink and food was served with a friendly smile & chat. Large TV screen showing the Olympics. Would def recommend the pork belly bites 😋

Love this place! Visited on Saturday 3/1/24 with my family as my son lived nearby. My only fault was the really loud music, we were unable to have a conversation without shouting to each other and in fact everyone in the bar were shouting at each other.I don’t mind music playing but not at that volume we moved on to another bar which was quieter.

I visited this wee pub for the first time yesterday and it’s lovely, with gorgeous Christmas decorations, friendly staff and reasonably priced drinks! It was perfect for a cosy pub evening and I will definitely be going back soon!

Lovely pub, it's got a warm feeling with candles and fairy lights. Being a church it feels like an experience to go in there, take some photos of the lovely decor and soak up the atmosphere. The staff are a bit miserable looking; too cool for school. They'll engage and serve you if they can be bothered. When I was younger I worked in pubs and hotels for around 15 years, I did my best to be pleasent and present for customers. Unfortunately it feels that the staff in Cottiers don't feel this way. It's a shame.

Came here for dinner & drinks on a lovely sunny evening, had a drink outside then came inside, found a table & ordered our food & more drinks. The menu is not extensive but they do vary the options on the menu. I had the seafood linguinie which had been made with smoked haddock, it was plentiful & tasty, my partner had the beef curry which was greatly enjoyed as well. Prices were reasonable & the place was fairly busy for a Wednesday night. We have eaten here several times before & keep coming back, staff were friendly & attentive.

Arrived just after 7pm, 4 adults, 2 children. Owner/manager? Told us on 3 occasions within 10 minutes that we had to be out by 8pm, kept staring at us, we felt very uncomfortable. We were not told when we arrived we only had 30-40 minutes to drink a bottle of wine. Extremely uncomfortable situation, would not recommend going there (even without children). Staff/Manager/Owner needs to get their customer care in order. We are local but will definitely not be returning. Zero stars if that was possible.

We visited Cottiers on Xmas eve 2022. It was me and my friend and our two young children. We had tickets for an event downstairs afterwards and decided to have lunch first in the Attic. Upon entering, the place was beautiful and atmospheric with a very traditional Christmas vibe. However, the greeting from the server was not welcoming at all. She seemed disinterested from the off and did nothing to make the children (or us) feel welcome. The menu was different to what had been advertised on the website - fair enough, it's Christmas. But, there was no vegan option on the kids menu. We had to ask what the chef could make for my friend's son and weren't given an option so eventually asked for a plain tomato pasta. (I mean, it's an established west end restaurant, surely a vegan option should be par for the course?). I opted for the crispy fried gnocchi with vegan parmesan. When it came, it was not crispy, more soggy, with stalks (not heads!) of tenderstem broccoli through it. Very odd. And there was no vegan parmesan to speak of, so we asked for this to be brought to the table. We felt like we were bothering the waiting staff by making simple requests for things that should have been served in the first place. A further example - there was no salt or pepper on the table and nor was it offered. When we asked for these, the girl brought an empty salt mill to the table (as I noticed someone else mentioned in a previous review). This resulted in a longer wait to eat our food as we had to ask for it to be filled up (again, no apology or recognition that this was unacceptable - I mean, these are basics!). Everything was so slow even though there was only one other table dining and it felt like an inconvenience for the staff to do anything for us (what they are getting paid for!). My daughter ordered a burger and OK, it's a kid's meal, but please don't assume children don't like salad or veg - it was a basic burger on a plate with skinny fries. She would have gladly eaten a side salad. At the end of the meal, my friend asked for her son's pasta to be boxed to take home (conscious of zero waste as we all should be). A couple of boxes were dumped on our table for her to do herself! I've never known a restaurant to do this, usually staff are more than happy to box food up for you, even in casual pizzerias! The next problem came when we ordered two kids ice creams. They came with some sticky pink sauce on top which wasn't on the menu and neither kid likes. We sent these back requesting plain ice creams as we had not asked for any sauce. This took more than 10 minutes to arrive, by which time the kids were fed up and the event downstairs was due to start, so the ice cream (which arrived without spoons!!) was left untouched.. yet still charged, of course. Time to pay the bill - full cost on the receipt, despite us expressing how poor the whole experience had been to the waitress. A lame, insincere "oh sorry" was muttered. It doesn't end there, my friend got 20p change when it should have been 2 pounds, so even that part was wrong! Normally we would leave a generous tip, but not a chance after that disastrous dining experience, and on Christmas eve too. Highly disappointing. We felt like we were bothering the staff just by being there! Service was slow and sloppy and they didn't even seem to care. I dread to think how they would cope at busy service times. The staff definitely need hospitality training as they are not skilled or equipped to be serving customers in what is known reputable west end establishment (if anywhere at all). We went on to complain in writing to the manager, the reply came with no justification, no apology, they simply said they welcomed our feedback. And pater to discover from the press the place is infested with mice! The whole experience actually makes me feel ill. A beautiful venue, lovely location, a real shame. Not recommended.

The title sounds inaccurate as this restaurant actually caters really well for vegetarians and vegans but also meat eaters. The food choice was very good together with service which was attentive and helpful, the restaurant is situated in the bar area and offers an area full of character and ambiance. I opted for the artichoke starter and then vegan haggis, neeps and tatties really good and recommended. Portion sizes were decent and priced at an affordable offering. I will certainly be recommending others to visit and will be returning soon Rob

We held our wedding at Cottiers and couldn’t have been happier at how the day turned out. Erin and her team were very professional from the outset and ensured that all the little details were organised exactly how we wanted it. The venue itself is stunning and the catering/drinks were all perfect. We are so happy we chose this as our venue and would recommend to anyone looking for something quite different, grand but intimate, in Glasgow. Thanks again to Erin and the Cottiers staff :-)

Good place for casual food and drinks. The food menu is a bit limited but has different things for a variety of tastes. It has a beer garden which is great in the summer and they are dog friendly inside and out. Quite a lot of weddings are glad here so there may very well be a wedding party around in the summer. They have a quiz on a Tuesday night and the place is packed with it and there are various food and drink deals during the week. Service is a bit mixed and you sometimes end up at the bar trying to get served for food etc as staff don't attend tables regularly. You can eat or just drink in this place inside and out. There is also a restaurant upstairs but haven't been to that

**THIS IS A WINE ONLY REVIEW** We popped in for a quiet glass of wine, as we've been meaning to pop in for ages to try the place. We have heard good things. The venue is lovely. It is beautifully lit on the outside, leading into an atmospheric, lowly lit bar which had a very appealing ambiance. I should say that the beer selection looked great, and I think that, had we not had a bad wine experience, it would have been a good trip. We ordered a glass of beaujolais (Rift 69) which they had run out of, so we were offered instead the Rift 69 gamay noir. We are not familiar with this one but opted to try it. At £6.80ish a glass, this seemed comparable in price and, we assumed, quality. We were wrong. It was possibly the worst wine we have tasted. It was sour to the point of being totally undrinkable. I then ordered a glass of the Malbec as a replacement. It smelled reasonable but tasted no better than the first glass. The reason for this review is not to take a shot at Cottiers. It is simply to appeal to them to stock some decent wines. At £6-7 a glass no one is expecting a fantastic red, but there are plenty of wines out there at that sort of price point which are lovely. I imagine that, although people will not be visiting Cottiers for their wines necessarily, a discerning west end clientele would be looking for some decent wines by the glass. Really nice bar, would go again. Just not for wine...

Who owns this place? Is it still a charity run venue? Whatever the answer, shame on you. Tonight we were met by a barman on his mobile phone who didn’t look up until I made a comment about him being on the phone. He then walked ‘back stage’ before returning to serve us in a surly manner. When we asked for a 175 measure he then asked if that was a ‘large ‘ and we had to repeat that we wanted 175. While we enjoyed our wine the barman stood behind the bar glued to mobile phone. At one point he came from behind the bar to pet a gorgeous dog and then went back to serving without washing his hands. Good lord!! Basic staff training or what? I tried to speak to a manager but no one was available.

We often go to Cottiers for drinks as it is conveniently situated near to our flat. We wanted to celebrate our daughter's 1st birthday there in the company of some friends. I called to book a table for our party but they would not take bookings for the pub area. As it is usually not that busy around 2 pm we decided to go there and find a table. We found a table that could sit the 12 people in our party, we had drinks and some of us had food and were having a good time. However, when we wanted to cut her birthday cake we were advised by the waiter that we could not do that because of health and safety concerns. When I asked to speak to the manager she bluntly told me that 'you cannot bring your own food into the pub' and that this would be unfair as they sell their own cakes there. I explained the situation to her pointing out that slices of cake don’t actually qualify as a birthday cake and that maybe they could make an exception to their policy. Unfortunately, she was adamant that this would not be the case. We left very disappointed by their blasé attitude and customer service and definitely will not go there again.

Made a late booking for a family meal for 8 people on Saturday night. Bit apprehensive initially as wondered why they would have space for us on a Saturday night ( had almost resigned myself to carry in meal) and then realised quite a short menu. Needn’t have worried . The food was excellent - from the huge chunks of freshly cooked bread and tomato purée butter & scallop starters, a few really tender steaks and the sea bass dish of the day was beautifully cooked, with a lovely fresh corn salsa. No room for desert ( though there was a tasty little complimentary fruit and sorbet dish). One cheeseboard gave us all a taste of cheese to finish our meal. Staff were helpful and attentive without being overbearing - and served us draught beer from bar downstairs on request . Happy to recommend Cottier’s new ‘Leiper’s Attic’ restaurant,

The food is delicious and all the chefs were amazing. We had a taste of four main courses salmon and two vegetarian and gluten free mains and then four deserts and each one was fabulous. Staff amazing very excited to hold my wedding here

We visited this restaurant on Sunday for lunch. It was a 3 course Sunday roast menu. There were 3 starter choices - I had beef carpaccio which was very tasty - most of the family had smoked salmon. We all had roast beef which was wonderful with the most outstanding gravy.

Salad was a small starter portion at main course price. Mainly leaves. When I complained I was told that the waitress would pass on my complaint. No idea if she did, we heard nothing back.

It was our first evening in Glasgow for this trip. We had secured a cottage in the Westend. After checking in and dropping off our bags it was time to go explore the new neighbourhood. After a walk past of the recommended eateries on Clarence Drive & Hyndland Road, too much like Kensington in Calgary, we found Cottier's Bar, Restaurant & Theatre.

I just love this place. It's relaxed and the people that work here are so very friendly. Also good food for a reasonable price and they've always got some lovely ales on draft.

I can't fault this place. I have been in several times over the years but usually just for a drink. We popped in for a soft drink at around 11.30 on a Wednesday morning. We had a look at the menu and so after a bit of a wander and a drink in another pub we decided go back for lunch. So glad we did! I had the flat breads with dips for the starter, a particularly delicious blue cheese dip ( I think), houmous and a creme fraiche. I then had the Tom Yum fish stew which was outstanding, the fusion of flavours was delicious. My husband had the soup and then a madras curry. He also said they were delicious. One small complaint ( probably too strong a word) was that he expected a madras to be hotter but was still very good,Hhe still gave his meal 5 out of 5. If you haven't tried the food then I strongly recommend that you do. Looking forward to going back.

Wandering around the University area in Glasgow, found Cottier's in the basement of an old church building. Rustic looking place. I had fish on ciabatta and tomato basil soup.. Excellent.

Cottier's continues to provide a great place to drink some excellent beer (very good selection to suit all tastes) and have a good catchup with friends with its helpful staff, relaxing atmosphere and good music which is kept at a conversation-friendly volume. I rarely go to church but this is one I highly recommend for a Friday evening soul soothing session.

This is a very nice pub with a lovely terrace. Good for drinks and celebrations. The restaurant upstairs is beautiful. The only thing that I suggest to them is to bring some more vegan options to their menu. Then would be perfect!

This restaurant has several levels which include a theater, outside picnic style seating, inside pub like and upstairs restaurant. I dined at the upstairs area. The food combines local and Mediterranean fare. The decor was very creative and the seating comfortable in round tables. The salon had vaulted ceilings giving the impression of a much bigger room. I ordered a vegetable tagine which came on a wood board with several Moroccan and Greek sauces. I also ordered the potato soup which was very creamy and tasty. Would certainly come back.

We booked a table thinking it would be busy but there was only one other couple, although the downstairs bar was doing better. Seemed like a good stop off for locals to relax along wth a couple of well behaved dogs. We shared a starter of salmon, 3 oatcakes a bit of rocket and a 2 inch square of cold salmon, bland, no trace of the marmalade marinade. We waited a long time for our main course. My 10oz ribeye was a bit on the small side but my wifes 10oz sirloin was small, lucky to have been 8oz. We did not make a fuss but pointed it out. The waitress apologised and went to see the chef. His reply was the butcher cut them wrong and they were all small. The steak was cooked perfectly but was let down with a few frozen chips and a 4 bits of broccoli. A small sauce was included. Not what I would expect for £28. My wife was offered a drink on the house but was driving so our 2 expressos were not charged. From start to finish the waitress was very good and could not have been more helpful.

We visited Cottiers restaurant recently as we were going to a show later that evening. Despite being from Glasgow, we had never visited either the restaurant or the theatre previously. We'd booked the restaurant but when we got there it was empty. Having passed a buzzing and friendly bar downstairs, we asked if we could just go and eat there which wasn't a problem at all for the helpful staff. They informed us that the restaurant doesn't get busy until later in the evening. In a nutshell, the varied menu was excellent, the food outstanding and the staff helpful and very friendly. The prices were favourable and we will definitely be back. We were there at night, but outside has a large beer garden which I'd imagine would be great on a lovely sunny day. Easy to get to the place as it's well within reach of Glasgow's West End.

Had 3 course dinner for work function at cottier's. Apparently this is the go-to restaurant in town for any events, families, corporate, birthdays, etc. This place surely can accommodate lots of people.Had scallop with black pudding as entree, then salmon as main, cant remember the dessert but it was a bit similar to lemon pannacotta with meringue on the side. The food was lovely, i really enjoyed it, everyone on my table ordered different things and they all enjoyed it.I love the atmosphere, it was cozy with beautiful lights settings. You should try this restaurant when visiting glasgow as it is famous among locals too.

Dear CottiersWhat a shame for such respectable place to organise the event called Cupid Ball. Total scam. The so called Ball was supposed to be a romantic evening with a meal and entertainment. Just a meal with nothing else coming. The waitress came at some point and asked us " so what else guys. Do you want more drinks or just a bill? I could not believe. I wanted to go out for dancing night a meal was just additional extra. I would not be interested if it wasn't a so called BALL event. I am disappointed and really infuriated that people can say anything to attract clients and there is no consequences for such action. I think this deserves reporting to advertising standards agency. I will make sure they will get to know about your event before you trick customers booked for next Friday Bal. The meal was perfect though. Cold regardsLucy

I am attending at course at the Clyde College and this wee cafe happens to be nearby - it's very convenient for lunch when I have classes the whole day. I had lunch in a couple of occasions so far, I tried their soup and jacket potato. The prices are affordable, the food is good and the staff are super friendly.

Travelling back from Kinning Park with my eldest son, I decided to stop off here for a bite to eat as I needed to pick up a few things anyway. Overall, it was some good scran. Aside from the food, I also thought it was brilliantly priced (Kids eating for just £1), the staff were decent and the cleanliness of the seating area was on point. In comparison to the Morrison’s café in Anniesland, which has plummeted in quality over the last four months, it really was night and day in comparison. I opted for the Sweet Chilli Chicken Panini (lovely) and a Cappuccino (unfortunately the machine only poured 2/3 of a mug). The wee man had Pancakes, Crisps and a Fruit Shoot (unfinished but he seemed happy enough with it). I was impressed with the choice on offer - it certainly exceeded what I’d expect from a Supermarket café. Being a fan of Rangers, I’ll most likely be in the area again very soon and would happily head back to Asda.
