We called in on two occasions and had food which on both occasions was enjoyable. This is a City centre bar and as a result is full. On the first occasion we just called in and were able to get a table. On the second occasion we booked a table as we thought, and were proved right, that being a Friday night it would be busy. The food was lovely and the drinks too. Good bar, despite being busy.

Nice traditional pub in the heard of Glasgow city centre. It was clean, has lovely decor and the bar staff were friendly and helpful. The lunch menu was September comfort food, so right up our alleys, and there was a good selection of drinks (beers, wines and spirits). We got a table in the window to people watch and, after the first round, enjoyed table service. My wife had a toasty and chips and I had stovies, both of which hit the mark. The bread that came with my stovies was dry, and there was no butter, so I skipped that and pinched a few chips from my wife. Overall, it was a nice lunch in a comfortable historic pub with good food and friendly service. Would certainly visit again.

Cozy atmosphere, warm decor in the colors of Scotland, very subdued lighting, I really liked it. The dishes were very good; accompanied by homemade fries it would be great. When I tell the waitress that she speaks too quickly for me to understand and that she repeats the same thing so quickly, it annoys me even more as I make the effort to express myself in the language. There was no one at the bar, so no pressure on his side...

Very cool, the bar comes out to point towards the entrance with seating generously positioned around the different tiers for some hidden away spots away from the central bustle. The old varnished wood look with the copper pipes, IG barrels and lighting makes it a warm and welcome space with a reasonable pint price for the area, worth a pitstop with friends for a chin wag!

I was looking forward to a meal here as it was a favourite pub years ago. The decor hasn't changed! The food was very disappointing, though. The pub wasn't busy, but the service was slow. We asked for the fish and chips to be served without the mushy peas, but they came on the plate anyway. The chips weren't great and not hot enough. The fish was good, though. The salmon and dill fishcakes were bland with few pieces of actual salmon compared to white fish. The boiled potatoes were cold and looked undercooked. The side salad/ veg were water logged. The pulled lamb pie dish was too stodgy, and the carrots were far too big and undercooked. Overall, a huge letdown. We won't be back.

Considering I usually stick to certain pubs, the drum has been added to that list. It has a decent atmosphere even when busy and the cost of drink and food is not unreasonable Glasgow city centre price wise. Also a shout out to the bar staff who are on point and don't leave you waiting. Got served by Kirsty, who had time enough to serve me, be conversational and still not create a line behind me.

Amazing customer service! As soon as I ordered the food I got an email that my train was cancelled, and as a result I had to rush to the train station immediately to catch an earlier one. I asked the staff if the food that was ready could be packaged to take away and the remaining one could be prepared quicker (not hoping for much, since I just placed the order) However, they were very understanding and I got everything packaged extremely quickly and I made it in time for the train. The food was great as well, so I highly recommend this place.

The doorman said we had to go because he had a taxi booked? We had to abandon our drinks and go. A pretty abrupt end to the night. I appreciate staff want to finish up but I don't understand why we were pushed out at 11:45.

Nice spot, friendly staff, good selection of beer. Let down by one if their "Famous Pies". I wasn't expecting haute cuisine but the pastry crust was completely overdone, dark brown and collapsed as soon as I touched it, it's advertised as "light pastry" The beef inside was also overheated, some of it was stuck to the side of the serving bowl. I didn't complain at the time because I was really hungry and didn't want to get into a debate with the staff.

Edit. Apologies to the management and staff at the Drum and Monkey for the previous iteration of this review. Here's my actual review which is well deserved. The pub stands in fine form and looks both inside out to be a top, beautiful establishment. The place was packed with a fantastic atmosphere building late on a Friday afternoon. We managed against the odds to find a table and opened the drinks menu. We were spoiled for choice. We tried a couple of pints of St Mungos and then followed with some IPA. The service was fantastic, the beer was on the same level. I wanted to stay to have a few drams from the menu but time and hunger got the better of us. I hope to return soon and if I review it again, will ensure I have my glasses on first. Many thanks for helping making Glasgow a must-return city for the pair of us.

1 star for service as it’s not a place where service is given. We booked a table for my partners birthday, was a nice booth. We weren’t sat and found our table ourselves as it had my name on as we had stood and waited for a bit, we did confirm at the bar that it was our table and didn’t just sit ourselves didn’t really know how it worked as I thought it would be table service but when my partner went to the toilet he noticed a sign saying order at bar, which was fine but would have been nice to be told. I had the mac and cheese which was brilliant cannot Recommend enough absolutely lovely. My partner had the balmoral chicken which was meant to be with a whiskey sauce … it was definitely not whiskey sauce it tasted like carrot soup we did mention this to the staff who assured us it was definitely whiskey sauce (it wasn’t whiskey sauce) we eat out quite regularly so have had many whiskey sauces and I mean who doesn’t know what whiskey sauce tastes like? We were going to stay for a while have some dessert and some drinks but decided to just head elsewhere.have attached a photo of said “whiskey sauce”
