This pub seemed like it was trying to be too posh and fancy for what it was. Food was very expensive for pub food, it looked great but we didn't try any. Poor selection of real ales compared to other pubs in the area, 6 handpumps, 3 of which were UK-wide common beers and 2 weren't on. We went for the local Scottish one and it was undrinkable from poor condition. I would suggest going to the Horseshoe bar nextdoor if you are in the area and looking for Real Ale

Staff were rude, unfriendly and not smile between them !!!! No knowledge of whiskies !!! No knowledge of what kind of glass to serve a whiskey or brandy in ? Tried to serve a whiskey in a pint tumbler !! No brandy glasses? ? Asked to speak to the manager and was handed an e-mail address !!! Won’t be back …..

One of the most disappointing lunch time experiences in Glasgow. We came in for a quick lunch, we never been advised few items were not available and of course these were what we wanted. But that's fine. After 40! minute wait we "enjoyed " the most bland and dry steak sandwich and tasteless chicken burger. All for the price of a good dinner in the city center. Never again

The staff weren't vigilant, I arrived before males and the female staff headed for only the males. Person serving did not ask how much mixer I wanted in my drink...so as not to drown it. This used to be a fantastic, friendly pub to visit. The atmosphere is still the same, with lovely décor and an older clientele.

we ordered cullen skink starter and cheese nachos and my wife ordered chicken Balmoral and honestly this is the worst food we have ever had in glasgow city centre , the soup was microwaved to within an inch of it's life I couldn't even touch the bowl it was that hot my wife ordered chicken Balmoral and you would have needed an electric saw to cut through it it was microwaved to oblivion. then the cheese nachos oh my God the top of the dish was hot but when I dug in the bottom was frozen solid obviously not microwaved enough ,we asked to see the manager and she said the nachos were meant to be served cold (really) at the end of the day we were given a refund and left ,there are so many better options in glasgow city centre than this place avoid

Love a bit of Drum n Monkey. Friday night is BUSY but we found a pew and parked a few. If you can find a sheltered spot and get one of their pies to you at a table they are S Tier. Absalutely bangin. Proper pies, like desperate Dan would smash a cactus to stuff in their face.

Looked for a friendly pub for good food and near bus station! I’m 83 and my friend 90. Both use walking sticks. Arrived and waited behind lots of young men at the bar - young lady came over after serving the young men and I said we had a table booked! She looked at her book and said yes it’s through there! Ordered steak and ale pie and my friend the haggis! Well the steak was chewy and the pastry was too hard to eat! My friend did not rate his haggis meal. Very disappointed- no member of staff came to enquire how was our meal. We didn’t want to complain as we were meeting up after a years break and it would have spoiled our meeting. The staff were polite but not friendly as becomes a Glasgow pub! Next meeting will in a good food / friendly pub in my Edinburgh.

Stopped in here on a Friday around 5pm to meet a bunch of friends. The place was packed out but we eventually found a corner where we could stand and talk. Bar service was okay but to be fair they were very busy. I ordered a coke with no ice however I couldn't drink it as it was like syrup and incredibly sweet. Been here before at different times, it's a decent pub but best avoided on a Friday/Saturday night unless you want to feel like sardines in a can.

Have attended many times over the years at this time of year. My booking was made in February, 2024. Was frankly staggered to be told initially that food couldn't be served because staff were "too busy". Thankfully after some robust negotiation, staff confirmed they would serve food to the one person in my party who was eating. However the demeanour of the staff betrayed the fact that they were acting under sufferance. The attitude of your staff generally left a lot to be desired.

Nice traditional pub in the heard of Glasgow city centre. It was clean, has lovely decor and the bar staff were friendly and helpful. The lunch menu was September comfort food, so right up our alleys, and there was a good selection of drinks (beers, wines and spirits). We got a table in the window to people watch and, after the first round, enjoyed table service. My wife had a toasty and chips and I had stovies, both of which hit the mark. The bread that came with my stovies was dry, and there was no butter, so I skipped that and pinched a few chips from my wife. Overall, it was a nice lunch in a comfortable historic pub with good food and friendly service. Would certainly visit again.

Cozy atmosphere, warm decor in the colors of Scotland, very subdued lighting, I really liked it. The dishes were very good; accompanied by homemade fries it would be great. When I tell the waitress that she speaks too quickly for me to understand and that she repeats the same thing so quickly, it annoys me even more as I make the effort to express myself in the language. There was no one at the bar, so no pressure on his side...

Very cool, the bar comes out to point towards the entrance with seating generously positioned around the different tiers for some hidden away spots away from the central bustle. The old varnished wood look with the copper pipes, IG barrels and lighting makes it a warm and welcome space with a reasonable pint price for the area, worth a pitstop with friends for a chin wag!

I was looking forward to a meal here as it was a favourite pub years ago. The decor hasn't changed! The food was very disappointing, though. The pub wasn't busy, but the service was slow. We asked for the fish and chips to be served without the mushy peas, but they came on the plate anyway. The chips weren't great and not hot enough. The fish was good, though. The salmon and dill fishcakes were bland with few pieces of actual salmon compared to white fish. The boiled potatoes were cold and looked undercooked. The side salad/ veg were water logged. The pulled lamb pie dish was too stodgy, and the carrots were far too big and undercooked. Overall, a huge letdown. We won't be back.
