Nice outdoor seating and tasty coffee and cakes. Let down by strange service set up, we only ordered coffee and cake. The coffee arrived promptly but no sign of our cakes. When I asked, I was told by 2 members of staff just sat around that there were other orders ahead of mine. Why neither of them can be trusted to put 2 pre sliced cakes on plates is beyond me.

Top notch delightful tea room, stopped for lunch. Home made quiche, o my goodness, so tasty, we both chose a different one: ham and egg (mysef) and a spinach veg, it was so deep, beautiful pastry, and served warm with side salad. Even the coffee was delicious. Obviously busy at lunch time, efficient however you will have to wait, no problem at all. Another table had home made soup overwhelming steamy bowl.

We had a friend down from Scotland and chose this cafe at random , so glad that we did. I had bacon and leek quiche (large slice) with a salad which was beautiful. The salad had an ingredient which I had never had or heard of before, Israeli cous cous, ( it's not cous cous) Had to ask the owner what it was, very small balls of pasta mixed with herbs, olive oil and they had also added some chickpeas, on a bed of lettuce. Really very good, will be back.

Echo the other reviews, wish we would’ve read them before visiting. Rude staff (not the two young waitresses, the manager!), slow service and very overpriced. They forgot about my cream tea, so after waiting a while for it to arrive, we requested a refund for it as by that time we had already drank our drinks and my partner had eaten his food. Manager was extremely reluctant to refund.

Been here once before and enjoyed it so called in again. Had the soup and Sandwich meal which was excellent value. Carrot and cumin soup was hot, tasty and homemade. Lovely lean hand carved ham and tomato sandwich in fresh white bread. Open log fire added to the warmth of the cafe. Nice environment for lunch and timed it right as it got quite busy. Would visit again.

Estábamos almorzando en Stow on the Wold y elegimos los Cotswolds Garden Tearooms.

We have previously used this B & B a number of times over the last 4 years and have always had a great stay however, it would seem that standards have dropped. On departure in 2018 we booked for September 2019. As usual I emailed Shelly to confirm access arrangements a few days before arrival and was given the code to enable us to get the key. At this time I was informed that breakfast was now being served across the road at “in the mood” and was being served at the slightly earlier time of 08:30 to 09:30. We were quite disappointed by this as 1. We felt we should have been informed when the changes were put in place 2. We would have liked a little more of a lay at the weekend as we are both up early for work in the week 3. Given the time of year, going across for breakfast meant getting soaked due to the weather. On arrival we let ourselves in and settled into the room (No 2) which is now starting to look a little tired and started to get ready to go out for dinner. Whilst in the bathroom I noticed the vanity mirror was practically falling off the wall and the towels felt old and rough. Nevertheless we got ready and went out. On returning to our room and whilst laying in bed my hand touched the top of the head rail, and it was then I noticed that it was absolutely thick with dust and so bad I had to get some tissue from the bathroom to clean it. We had breakfast as late as possible across the road on the Saturday. There was no difference in menu but after it was served no one even asked if it was ok or if we would like more tea / coffee but it was pleasant enough. On returning to the tea rooms we noticed it was still all shut up, we were informed on departure that this was due to staff shortages. On Sunday we decided to skip breakfast as we were due to check out at 11 and the weather was so bad we didn’t want to get soaked so just had aLazy morning. A member of staff was around to settle up with on the Sunday morning and I raised some the issues with her but felt it was best to email Shelly direct with some feedback.I was absolutely shocked with the tone and unprofessional response I received. Rude to say the least. For the price we paid there are far better places to stay. I definitely wouldn’t be paying £110 a night for a room of this standard and in. Such poor condition, only have an hour for breakfast on a weekend and have to walk across the road for it.Needless to say we will not be returning.

On a recent visit to Stow we decided to pop in here for a quick lunch. My cheese scone was delicious although by the time it arrived my tea was well stewed. Husband had a very nice soup but although the bread was plentiful it was very dry. The main cause for concern was the condition of the toilet and washbasin area. I am not that fussy but the room looked like it had not had a clean for a very long time and the floor was littered with paper. There are many cafes in Stowe, next time I will try another.

Popped in for breakfast on a midweek morning. Ordered a sausage and tomato sandwich from a waitress who struggled to greet us or engage in any conversation beyond "are you ready to order". Cue waitress bolting out of the tea room and returning five minutes later with sausages, at which point I was told they didn't have any bread rolls so it would have to be white sliced. In the meantime an elderly couple sat down near us and were less tolerant of the waitresses demeanor, looking perplexed at how she barely said a word to them. The taxi driver hauling luggage into the tearoom whilst opening and slamming the front door was the final straw for those two, who left without ordering. Sandwich arrived, sausages and bread were great, no issues, but the tomato wasn't cooked, which made it all in all an underwhelming sandwich. It wasn't cheap either. Not worth the money.

Average food, disappointing tea and coffee, service lacking in any kind of human warmth. No concept of the importance of the customer. The 'garden' is just a courtyard of gravel and paving. This cafe and its staff would no doubt do well on the sea front at Blackpool, but for a Cotswolds cafe in such a prime location they have missed the point. Don't be tempted: further up the road or (even better) on the opposite side of the road you will find cafes that will enhance your experience of this atmospheric town, not leave you wondering what it was all about.

Popped in this tearoom for a cream tea and as soon as we entered the premises we were greeted in an almost gruff/military way! The place had a touch of shabby/chic with a hint of fairy tale. The huge fireplace would have been suitable to roast a whole hog! My wife and I ordered the cream tea as mentioned earlier and when it arrived I was very pleased to see the China Crockery, both cups and Pot which are my favourite. The pot we got would have been enough for 6 people when normally you get only a pot for two. The scones although a bit on the crumbly side tasted delicious and the jam was good too. I did manage to get a smile from the owner/waitress at the end, when I complimented her on the scones!

On Sunday 20th September I visited this establishment with my partner & her father, who uses a mobility scooter, having passed numerous other lovely-looking tearooms, preferring the easy access offered by the entrance to their garden. We had only just sat down when a lady asked if we were ready to order. As we hadn't had a chance to read through the extensive menu we asked if she could return. It was no more than a couple of minutes before she returned and asked politely but slightly abruptly if we were ready to order. We each ordered a beverage and something sweet to eat. One lovely warm scone followed but was almost finished and cold by the time the beverages were brought, with an apology it must be said, that they were not brought at the same time by a lovely young waitress. I located some sugar inside the tearoom as none had been brought to us. After a considerable wait my partner also had to enter the tearoom to politely enquire of the original waitress we had placed our order with about the coffee cake and tea cake that was still outstanding as we'd nearly finished the tea we'd been brought. A coffee cake followed shortly after with the explanation it had been sat on the counter waiting for the scone that had been served some considerable time ago before the beverages. On enquiring after the tea cake we were curtly told "we hadn't ordered one" even though it had been mentioned a 2nd time when the food had had to be chased up, and "did we now want one then?". One followed shortly thereafter and was very nice, but somewhat dry in that by then there was no tea left to enjoy with it. Other parties could be heard to be complaining at the time their orders were taking, which seemed strange in that whilst it was busy, not all tables were taken. We would certainly not return or recommend, not because of the food, or even the time it took to get same, but mainly because of the sour attitude of one member of staff who could do with some training in how to treat customers.

This is a pleasant tea rooms, serving good snacks. We had panini and sandwiches, all were tasty and presented well. There was some confusion aver the soft drinks. The menu implies that these are home made, but they are bought in from a local company. One of the drinks on the menu had the wrong fruit on the menu (something with gooseberry), but it did taste nice anyway! The hot chocolate was too weak for me, but the coffee was fine.

We dropped by this tea room, as it looked bright and airy, and it had clearly free tables (many of the adjoining tea houses were busy) and a garden in the sunshine. We had two cream teas -a choice of a plain or fruit scone with clotted cream, strawberry jam and a pot of tea. The scone was warm and fresh, and tasty. Total £10.50 plus tip. However, the service was limited & rather unfriendly! The lady at the till and who cleared the tables made no eye contact and looked distinctly sour as we left... rather a shame!

Nice food and good service but spoiled by constant nuisance of flies around the tables and food. Prices a little on the high side.

The courtyard looked lovely in the sunshine however the food was disappointing to say the least. We ordered rare roast beef sandwiches with rocket and horseradish and were looking forward to a tasty treat, sadly it was not the be. The bread was fresh and thick and that was about it. The tempting rare roast beef was beyond well done and there was one tiny slice in each of our sandwiches and about 4 pieces of rocket. NO-one asked us if our food was ok while we dined and when I went to pay they did not ask either, just handed me bill for £24.50 for 3 rounds of pretty much empty sandwiches, a cup of tea, a lemonade and a glass of water - bargain, NOT.

We thoroughly enjoyed our cream tea in the garden! A lovely setting in the garden, great (fast) service with a smile and delicious scones and clotted cream. This is a great little place to drop into for a breather while driving through the country, as we were yesterday.

Agreed we did call late one afternoon when they were clearing up and agreed we did not complain during the meal but I have never eaten or tried to eat such a shockingly tough piece of roast beef on a ciabatta.I took one bite and tried to bite through it but couldn'tI commented on it ,and my friends although not wanting to complain, said theirs was tough too.We remarked on the quality when settling but we're just curtly told "£22 please" which for four cups of tea and piece of tough meat I eventually managed to cut up and give the dog was not good value.I shan't be visiting here again!

We were on a coach trip and stopped at Stow-on-the-Wold; we were there for 90 mins and thought we would get something to eat. Looked at a few pubs that were busy and found the Cotswold Tearooms. It look like a small shop but inside we found a nice tearoom we ordered our tea and sandwiches these were delivered food was really good and made well we waited. We had expected to pay about £10 for Tea and a sandwich but the cost was about £6 great value.

We visited Stow on a busy Sunday afternoon and decided to have a coffee here as it was the only tearooms that wasn't packed out. From the exterior the tea rooms don't look very inviting but inside there was a nice open fire. Although the coffees were fine, there was nothing else that would make me want to make a return visit. The food menu was uninspiring and the tatty menus and plain crockery gave the place an unloved feel. Having said that I can imagine the courtyard garden would be a nice place to sit in during the summer.

Visiting Stow on the Wold it was inevitable that we had to have a bite to eat and this restaurant looked like it would fit the olde world charm of the town on what was a lovely day.walking in from the street, it was pretty dark and actually uninviting so we walked through to the Garden Terrace which was reasonable though nothing special. Not too busy (indoors had a couple of tables occupied and outdoors had three - all of which were already eating) so we were a bit surprised to find that we had a 15 minute wait for our tea, one ham salad sandwich and two cream teas "as they were very busy". At least we were advised of the wait. The menu was uninspiring. A laminated typed sheet attached to a piece of wood with a bulldog clip probably set off the haphazard feel to the place,Tea arrived after about 5 minutes with the crockery appearing to be a mish mash of charity shop items and by the time we received our food, we had to ask for some more hot water to enable us to drink along with the food.Fair to say, the sandwich (an extra plate being provided when the waitress realised my wife and I were sharing) was lovely although presentation could have been better. The Scones were a good size, warm and inviting and very tasty. The staff were less than inviting in my opinion, treating the interaction with the customers as simply the job. No chat, few smiles and anything but welcoming. A real disappointment for what could, and should, be a tearoom which would make you want to return.

Walking through the pretty town of stow on the wold you are not short of places to enjoy a cream tea. We chose an off high street cafe, the cotswold garden. Quite aptly named, you can eat in the cafe itself or ouside in the courtyard garden, as well as light lunches and a great c hoice of sweet and savoury snacks they do a great cream tea. The garden is a little break from the quite b u sy streets and tourists pouring in and out of quaint shops. The teas were served in proper pots and China cups. The scones, clotted cream and jam were super and no wasps. Our fellow diners were visiting japanese and american tourists who were ravingabout the englishness. I saw their point, great tea and scones beautifully served in great surroundings, vine tomatoes geraniums and other flowers alk added to a good experience.

I really wanted a lovely cream tea and thought this was the place to go. The service was ok, the tea was ok and the scone was ok but none of it was really special unfortunately. I would have liked proper china tea cups for my cream tea. Next time I am in Stow I will choose one of the other lovely tea shops and hope it will be a bit more special.

We stopped to visit Stow-on-the-Wold on our way home. Needing a much needed cuppa we thought this looked an attractive place with a pleasant courtyard to sit out in. We ordered a cream tea although the scone and tea tasted good l was a bit put off by the teapot. l did not notice at first as my sister had poured but later l saw the inside of the spout brown with tannin. l then looked inside and to my dismay was also brown as someone who has worked in the catering industry l find this unacceptable. l quietly mentioned this to the waitress At the checkout l was asked if everything was ok l said no and had the waitress not mentioned the teapot? l explained about it and they made no apology and settled the bill.

We have been here a few times when we have visited Stow on the Wold, we make a point of popping in for a drink. In fact it isn't so much the nice coffee here that does it, it is the small choice of fantastic homemade cakes. The cakes here are really good, much better and tastier than the mass produced stuff you get at somewhere like a Starbuck's or Costa. The place itself is nothing special inside, just a small, old fashioned style cafe/tearoom.

We called in here on a recent visit to Stow. It was about late morning and the place was quite empty. We sat at a table very near the till and were greeted with a "hello" and "I'll be with you in a minute" - it was actually nearer 5 minutes!! Did we feel valued? Not really! We ordered bacon sandwiches and cokes. The bacon sandwiches when they arrived were delicious, nice fresh bread and plenty of bacon, well cooked. The 4 star rating is for the food, if judging this overall, the rating would probably only be "average"

Brought our dog into the garden seating area of the tea room and had no trouble from anyone. In fact, the staff were very friendly. The outside seating area is considerably more scenic, with the sun hitting you as you nibble on cakes and sip on cream tea, which was equally as lovely. The brie and chilli panini is to die for. Best quality brie from a top quality tea room. Will definitely return.

A clean, warm cafe with an efficient waitress who had rather an abrupt, unwelcoming manner. At around 3pm on Thursday afternoon there were no panninis or baguettes. The sandwiches we had were nicely presented with crisps and a small salad, but sadly the bread was rather dry and tired.

The food quality was only so-so, service was very slow though the pub was almost empty. The food took a very long time to arrive, the scampi was overdone, I ordered mushy peas and they brought garden peas, a very small portion./ Won't be going to this pub again.
