Cote Brasserie - Reading in Reading

We were warmly welcomed on arrival by the manager without a booking on what seemed like a busy Friday dinner service. The food was excellent and the service was very good. Especially from the manager and our waiter Rueben who had very polite and attentive service, exactly what i look for when dining out. Will be back again!

You know what you get at Côte and their restaurant at Reading is no different. We came here for an early dinner and had a relaxing meal and a nearly empty restaurant. But staff were on hand and served us well.

An early dinner (6pm). There were enough diners in to make it a nice relaxed atmosphere. The staff were efficient and friendly. Our food was delivered promptly and was delicious... We'd been several times before and was pleased the quality was still as good...

I’ve visited this cote a few times, and I’ve always been looked after and respected by their staff. The food has always been great, and I look forward to returning in the future. Thank you

As ever great, personalised service and great food, despite Côte being a chain. The atmosphere is always relaxing. The staff have been consistently well-trained and professional over the years.

We had our diner for our 50th Wedding Anniversary for48 guests. It went like a dream. The staff and food were wonderful!!

How can you serve a Tarte Tatin cold? Fair enough it was taken off the bill but to then be practically ghosted by the staff…. Could not even a cup of coffee just because you raised the point that it was served cold and actually didn’t complain and said it even tasted nice. The staff just disappeared. We left the restaurant feeling disappointed what’s started out as a good evening with friends was ruined because we had the audacity to state the tarte tatin was cold.

Superb friendly service. 2/3 course fixed price menu good value for money, but also a good choice on the à la carte menu. Always have an enjoyable meal here.

Visited Cote Reading today, what can I say, I'm never disappointed! Food it's great, I had pork belly and my wife had duck, both fantastic dishes, tasty and full of flavour. The atmosphere is always great and the service is attentive without being too much, we have been served by a lovely young lady named Daria, she was very polite and recommended a great dessert too ( Paris-brest) . We always feel so welcome and well looked after at Cote! 5 stars and coming back very soon!!

We went on a Sunday arriving around 4:15pm. My wife had booked the table, originally for three and amended it online for 5 people. When we arrived the booking had not been update....no biggie...the restaurant was quiet and the waitress shuffled some tables together for us to sit at. That's where the ok experience took a downward trend. My daughter wanted to order from the children's menu with a specific request of a starter and two sides but nothing that wasn't on the menu. Computer said no so the waitress said she could not process the order. After much back and forth with the waitress stuck with her tablet not allowing us to order, the manager came over and took the order. Our drinks arrived...fine. Then a considerably protracted wait for our food. Our daughters' starter had arrived and nothing else as the rest of us hadn't ordered starters. Perhaps we should have asked that this all come together....maybe we were hoping for common sense that my daughters' request of fish from the starter menu, chips and salad from the sides menu might would be seen as a main so our food would come together. My daughter finished her food. We'd finished our drinks. Then we waited.....and waited....probably 5-10 minutes. But when you're waiting it feels an eternity. Our mains arrived and, to be honest, I was pretty appalled. I had the burger and frites. For a start the burger is pretty small....ok, fine. What was terrible was the dryness and lack of flavour in the burger. Is your food fresh Cote Brasserie? It reminded me of a frozen birdseye burger from the 1980's. I ate it because I was hungry and fed up at that point. However, I deliberately left some of it to show to the waitress. I pressed the meat down to demonstrate the solid density and dryness of the burger. She said she would inform the chef. I suggest they have a word with the farmer who provided the cow....it was so dry I'd wonder if the cow ever had any water. My wife's chicken salad was somewhat lack lustre too....but passable. The chicken was dry and kind of pulled strands from a drumstick or thigh. We were stumped by a few random cubes she found on her plate which we eventually deduced as croutons but they were without any aeration you'd expect of a bread-based item. The French manage beautiful bread items.....just not at Cote Brasserie. As well as the Cote Brasserie's Sahara Desert inspired burger, I did raise the time issue to our second waitress. She said it was due to changing shifts......not our fault and the place wasn't busy....but also not her pay grade to creatively placate the situation. We received a discount from the overall meal and my order was removed from the bill. Even so, the overall experience was so below par. For the price bracket there are myriad alternatives with better service and better food.

The restaurant was very quiet, however, the atmosphere was still warm and comfortable. The staff are always sufficiently attentive without being irritating. We were asked if we were enjoying our meal, that was perfect! The food is always consistent in quality and taste, I have never had a complaint, my friend and I meet there every 6-8 weeks. We went with our family for a pre-Christmas treat dinner and we were not disappointed! The food was excellent, the service was second to none and the staff were all wonderful! Andrew especially went out of his way to make sure we were looked after and that we would leave happy. Thank you so much, we would highly recommend and go back again! :)

The tables outside are even nice in a rainy day. The staff are completely trained and well-behaved. The courses are nice, delicious and generous portion.

Love this place and when we returned a few weeks back we had the normal good service and excellent wine list - but the £60 steak (for 2!) was a third fat. Now I like a bit of fat and marbling in my meat, but this was £20 worth. Happily we were well into our Chambertin not to make a fuss, but really, we should get more meat than that 😉

This restaurant never disappoints. Dropped in for lunch and had some fabulous French onion soup (dripping with Comté cheese) and Jerusalem artichoke risotto, followed by clafoutis for dessert. Special shout-out to server Monica, who went above and beyond for us - most appreciated.

A group of 15 of us turned up at Cote after the restaurant we’d been celebrating an 80th birthday in, abruptly closed (mid-meal) due to a kitchen fire. Cote could so easily have turned us away citing ‘party too big’ or ‘kitchen closing’: but they bent over backwards to accommodate us. The food was delicious, the service was perfect and they even produced a surprise ‘birthday dessert’. They rescued what could have been a disastrous evening and we are so grateful. I would highly recommend a visit for anyone that wants good food and top service.

Packed with pre-Christmas diners all enjoying the brasserie experience which give Cote their due they work hard at achieving. Plenty of French favourites - its years since I have eaten fougasse and steak/frites. And very good it was too washed down with some decent French house red. My wife who dines here regularly went for her favourite sea bass which again was again up to expectation. Although packed, service was good throughout. An enjoyable start to our Christmas festivities

Popped into Reading for breakfast and thought we would give this place a try. Nice and warm inside (unlike some other places who have switched off their heating and still charge the same). The staff were nice. I had the Eggs Benedict and my wife had the Vegan Breakfast. I have deducted one star because the eggs were hard boiled (see photo) and not runny, but it was still nice, my wife had no issues with her Vegan Breakfast. Nice to see proper knapkins !!👍 It would have been nice to have been offered water, like most other guests. I also thought most establishments ask how the food was, but no one asked us and it was not that busy. Nice clean restaurant and so were the toilets. We will go back to try dinner one evening .

I have been going to Cote for years, mainly in London. Popped in unplanned after shopping, didn’t know Cote was in Reading, so a lovely surprise. Was greeted with a smile and welcome. Both had grilled chicken in a tasty mushroom crème sauce followed by crème brûlée and chocolate fondant. All really enjoyable. Lovely atmosphere and beautiful Christmas decorations. Very pleasant waitress who served us and dealt with our bill.

Ottima catena di ispirazione francese, ma anche belga. Bella location "riverside", locale molto grande, sempre molto affollato e di conseguenza rumoroso, ma servizio incredibilmente preciso e veloce nonostante la ...ressa. SI mangia molto bene, una zuppa di cipolle che non fa rimpiangere la Francia, mentre i gamberi alla provenzale hanno quel "sughetto" molto intrigante. Fish parmentier è sempre un gran bel piatto, ma impossibile resistere alle ""moules frites" di chiara ispirazione belga. Ampia scelte di piatti tipicamente francesi, fra carne e pesce, c'è da sbizzarrirsi nella scelta, birre francesi, rapporto qualita'/prezzo corretto. Viene aggiunto un 10% di servizio sul conto finale, ma ...se lo meritano, visto come sono bravi e svegli.

I visited Cote with a friend for dinner on Saturday. The service was faultless - everyone was really helpful and friendly. We both enjoyed our meals. My friend had the salmon tartare and the poulet grille. I had the goats cheese tart and the artichoke risotto. Both were really delicious. I hadn't been to Cote for ages but will definitely be going back.

Had a Cote American breakfast which was absolutely fantastic. The service at Cote Reading is always great, the staff are really efficient and friendly, the food is always reliably excellent, I love this restaurant. Respect is due.

Enjoyed a meal at le Cote which they said re-opened 8th September. As always, the food was excellent and so was the service. You do check and trace as you go in and the tables were well separated. Most enjoyable and reasonably priced.

This was our first visit since lock-down in March and it was worth the wait. Great to see the same fantastic staff are back - the Breton chicken was as good as ever; we've missed Cote. 10/10.

Absolutamente fantástico que el personal de Cote Brasserie, Reading esté de vuelta, es un placer verlos a todos nuevamente. En segundo lugar después de verlos, estaba disfrutar de la deliciosa comida, que estaba tan bien hecha como siempre. Tuve el bistec chuletón, que estaba hecho impecablemente raro y maravillosamente sazonado, con una salsa bearnesa encantadora y las siempre deliciosas patatas fritas. El esposo frotó la parrilla de poulet, que no murió en vano. Un hermoso kir royale fue presentado a su llegada para celebrar su reapertura.Tengo la sensación de que algunos de nosotros estamos muy contentos de que Cote vuelva a ser un lugar favorito que no hemos visitado.

I was very impressed! the food was lovely, staff were friendly and good value for money. my only down side that is found is that it wasn't wheelchair or pushchair accessible but it is an easy fix.

We had walked around Reading and came across the river and all the restaurants. We chose Cote and sat inside and both chose the two course lunch. A glass of wine each and we shared the pate and I had the chicken and my daughter the steak. We then shared the chocolate pot. It was all delicious and worth the money - the service was also excellent. A lovely relaxed venue - did not realise it is a chain as I saw another one in Basingstoke - but not such a nice situation.

Lovely restaurant and service, food is always nice here! I’m surprised it’s not busier as the standard of food is fantastic.

I had duck breast in a delicious savvy. I 've been travelling for quite a while and compare tastes. It was decent dish with interesting setup. Service was excellent!

Went here with a colleague for a spot of lunch. It was incredibly busy and the table we had was not of great size. Service was a little rushed. I opted to eat Swordfish from the specials and to be honest it was everything but special. Very dry overcooked. I have eaten at quite a few Cote outlets and this one wouldn’t get me back.

We dine frequently at Cote Reading but even so, between visits I tend to forget how good the quality of the food and service is here. Today is my birthday and we dined there at lunchtime...this is a wonderful restaurant and today’s visit was one of our best experiences...the service is attentive without being overbearing and the food was wonderful. I’m vegetarian and there was a good choice within the menu. I can’t recommend Cote Reading too highly.

We ate here in December when the restaurant was bursting with with pre-Christmas parties and enjoyed the meal so much we returned in January. We almost had the place to ourselves and had a great meal. Service was very attentive and enhanced the experience. We both chose from the lighter meals menu which offers great value - the fish goujons are spot on and with the indulgent chocolate pot to finish a good meal at a bargain price.

Dining at Cotes is usually a pleasant experience and today was no exception. We were there today for a birthday lunch and it was excellent. Great food and attentive staff and pleasant surroundings.

I find that the restaurant is very popular and could be due to the evening meal. However staff all work well, but can be a delay in the food prep.

Tonight we had a fantastic birthday celebration with our 9yr old son! Cotes staff were excellent and attentive offering a lovely complimentary desert for our son with candles and singing happy birthday! We all had steak as main and this was delicious and served perfectly! Unfaltering service with great staff! Thanks you so much, the evening was slightly spoilt by a young couple who were complaining about the early evening meal which was served before 7pm as they arrived slightly before 7pm and even having time they complained about they did not have the time to look at the menu and order or felt rushed due to this, then arrogantly and pathetically took 40 mins to complain to the manager and then walking out! We would have thrown them out! The Manager was sympathetic and offered a free drink, well done to the staff at Cote for dealing with the abuse, some people are just cheap and rude and don’t deserve the respect you shown! We will definitely come again, live to Mona and the Manager great food and fantastic service!

8 of us met here for lunch. All ate off the lunch offer menu. Some had two courses and I was one who had three. All three courses were superb - I don’t know how they do it for £13.95! Service was fantastic too. Altogether a very enjoyable meal.

Arrived on a planned visit for a post Xmas treat and was not dissapointed. Pre ordered champagne sitting waiting lovely dishes and excellent service. Other places should take their lead. A no problem brasserie.

Based on a good meal at the Cote Brasserie in the Barbican, London, i chose to eat here with my wife prior to going to the cinema. And again I was impressed by the experience. We ate early enough to be able to choose from afternoon light meals menu (still available at 5pm which struck me as a very good deal). Good service (even though the restaurant was packed with office Christmas celebrations - were they late lunches or early dinners?)’ good food, and a good price.

Ate here in a party of 10 on a busy Saturday night. We had all pre-ordered but one latecomer hadn't. Our starters started to be served before the latecomer had ordered but her starter soon arrived. Good service, lovely food and happy atmosphere.

Came here with friends for an Xmas meal. Service was impeccable with multiple staff working together to make sure our large group were all served promptly etc. Food was good quality and very tasty.

Turned up without booking and they managed to seat 6 of us in the busy restaurant.
