Cosy Time in York

This coffee shop is located in the centre of historic York. It was the first coffee shop we came across that was not too crowded on a very busy day before Christmas. We enjoyed two flat whites, which cost £6 and were good quality.

What a lovely wee cafe. We were just looking for tea and scones -and that's exactly what we got- just perfect -beautifully served on a small tray in cute tea pots with their matching cup & saucer , tea strainers, milk & sugar and warmed scones with clotted cream, jam ,butter .Scones come from a local bakery and are so fresh and absolutely delicious and the loose leaf teas are properly stored in airtight containers so retain their flavour . Great service. Highly recommend this wee cafe for coffees or light lunches . Our bill was significantly less than we paid the previous day in an establishment on Shambles and everything was so much nicer here .....We'll deffinately be back next time we visit York .

Super place, really chilled, very friendly and welcoming. We had some really tasty bacon ciabatta rolls with some really delicious coffee, and my daughter had some gorgeous waffles that were bigger than her head! Just loved the relaxed atmosphere!

Love the atmosphere, cozy and welcoming. I grabbed a latte and bacon sarnie which were both amazing and honestly the best bacon sarnie I've had in years. I would really recommend this place when visiting York.

Walked in and got a lovely warm welcome, took a seat and the coffee was brought over. Ordered a Goulash, which we have to say is the best we’ve tasted outside of Austria!

Waited over 35 minutes for 2 sandwiches. When I raised this, I was given excuses rather than anyone accepting responsibility or to my main point acknowledging they should have been upfront about waits. Staff chatting constantly, didn’t appear to be working particularly hard. Most of the food we had appeared to be microwaved. Surprised if this level of service, food quality and lacklustre decor last much longer in York, particularly given its location.

Came in on a whim a few weeks ago as I saw there was a sign saying they had wifi and I had an essay deadline. Ordered a tea, amazing value. Got like 3-4 cups from it. Lovely atmosphere and great playlist, staff very welcoming.

I’ve come here a couple of times, once with a partner and another time to do some work. It’s a cute cafe with friendly staff and great food! Their iced teas are always fantastic. It’s somewhere I come back to time and time again, would solidly recommend! Very affordable as a student too.

Dropped in for a quick lunch, not an massive menu but what there is is exceptional. Lovely staff, lovely food, lovely coffee and dog friendly!

Always walked past this place but never went in. Only sat outside because we couldn't find anywhere else. But we loved it, the staff were very friendly, the drinks were great. £2.75 for a massive pot of tea! Lovely place to sit with a baby. High chair and baby changing facilities too.

We were looking for a spot for a light lunch and coffee that we could go to with the dogs. We are loving the vibe of Fossgate currently and thought we’d give this place a go. Seriously impressed! The team were super friendly, made a fuss of the hounds, explained the menu and just delighted us. Food and coffee was some of the best we’ve had for a long while in the price bracket, will definitely be coming back.

We found this place by chance and seeing it was dog friendly had to go in and check it out The coffee was very nice and it was very dog friendly too and they had a jar of doggy treats

My wife and I stopped in for breakfast during a visit to York and we were delighted with the service and food! The staff were helpful and friendly and the atmosphere was lovely. We ordered bacon and sausages breakfast sandwiches and they were wonderful! Highly recommend. The street it is on is also full of independent restaurants, cafes and shops.

Stopped by for a hot chocolate on a rainy day. There were 4 of us. Nice choice of hot chocs and we all enjoyed what we ordered but it was a long long wait for them to arrive and then only two at a time.

Wondering around York on a freezing cold November morning we stumbled upon this place near Fossgate. Not particularly appealing from the outside and unable to read the menu in the window due to the windows being condensed up (a good sign that it may be warm an inviting inside).Lots of free tables and an abundance of staff behind the counter was not the best impression. However soon after we sat down, the place filled up completely with no space left. The food is simple but varied to include gluten free and vegan options. I can recommend the Smoked Bacon, Brie and cranberry toastie served in a lovely warm toasted bloomer. All in all, a lovely place with friendly staff.

Cosytime has to be one of the friendliest coffee shops I’ve been to in York! I like to try a different meal or drink every time and, I have to say - be it chicken panini or vegan choc fudge cake (amazing, definitely order!), hazelnut latte or iced peach tea - every single one is delightful.

I have lived in York for over a year and have tested many of the coffee shops here but Cosy Time is by far my favourite. This shop has a relaxed, family and dog friendly atmosphere and has incredibly welcoming staff. The decor is modern and dare i say-- very cosy!

Un acogedor, como en una pequeña cafetería, sin espacio para discapacitados para mí y para mi scooter, pero con 2 mesas pequeñas afuera. El clima era cálido y soleado, nos sentamos en uno de ellos. Mi hija vegana tenía un humus, tomate seco y espinacas, panini sin gluten y yo comí un sándwich de tocino criado al aire libre y de origen local en pan ciabatta. ¡Michelle tenía una taza de té y yo tenía el café más espumoso más alto que jamás había visto! La comida estaba recién preparada y ambos estuvimos de acuerdo en que nuestras opciones eran deliciosas. Para nosotros, esto solo puede ser una escala de "buen tiempo", pero volveremos a visitarnos, si el clima lo permite, buena comida, buenas opciones para un lugar tan pequeño y un personal encantador.

Reasonable enough, nice fruit scone with jam and cream. Good teapot of hot water and a teabag. Medium sized mocha all for £8.00. The high stools are not the most comfortable to perch on when all the seats are full.

I love this cafe so much, they make delicious bubble tea and are really reasonably priced, too. One of my favourite spots.

I've had many a cup of coffee here, always good, but only tried the food recently. Just a bacon ciabatta which was very pleasant, decent bacon and bread. The staff seem to change regularly but always friendly and efficient. Well worth searching out.

I have always found that the eateries, cafes and restaurants on the main tourist paths are either poor quality or poor value (overinflated prices).

Popped in on Saturday for tea and some food. Both the food and drinks were great; tasted very nice and perfectly presented. Unfortunately the service didn't quite match the quality of the food. We did come quite in quite late and obviously close to closing time which is fair enough, however, we did feel very rushed and not very welcome overall... so much so that we didn't feel we could stay to finish our tea. The table that arrived after us were told that they had 20 mins, at which point a voice from the back quite rudely shouted up that they in fact only had 15. Still, fair enough I guess... However, what made me decide to leave a review was the fact the the mop bucket was then brought out beside us... and one member of staff started singing "5 mins to go" quite chirpily to herself, which seemed quite rude. I even tried to have a lighthearted joke to the staff about the whole affair but was met by a very blunt response. A shame because like I said, the food was very good. Maybe we'll be back when some other staff are working!

Lovely little cafe, nice and friendly staff. We had a cheese scone each mu husband had his with butter I had mine with Cream cheese & Marmite it was delicious if you like Marmite you will like this combination. It's the perfect place to eat and relax in. Would diffidently recommend you visit.

The atmosphere is extremely cosy, and the dog-friendly policy makes it even more welcoming. The cake is lovely, the salted caramel being exceptional - most definitely worth a visit!

I had the American pancakes with bacon and sausage. I'm almost certain the pancakes were microwaved as they were thick and stodgy instead of fluffy. The sausages did not appear cooked and had a strange taste. Generous portion of bacon though. My partner had the sandwich stack which he said was average at best and also seemed microwaved. Service was very quick but that would be explained by the likely microwaved cooking and the fact that we heard it ping. Doubt we'll be visiting again.

I've visited York many times but this was the first time walking down this street and came across cosy time. I sat in some comfy chairs in the window. There are papers to read and the place felt very chilled out even though relatively busy. I liked the fact that you can see the kitchen area is in full view and was spotlessly clean. There were plenty of staff on duty so very good customer service. There is s good choice of drinks and cake's. We didn't have a sandwich that day but were quite reasonably priced. Definitely a café I'd call into again.

We came upon this cafe by accident as we were actually going somewhere else but it was too full and I had a two dogs with me. My friend and I both had lattes and a piece of cake, I can highly recommend the chocolate cake. The service was great and they brought water and treats over for the dogs. Very friendly and great choice on menu we will definitely be back

Me and my friends wondered in looking for a place to sit down and chat and we may have found one of the best in York, the staff where super friendly, you could tell they where the type of people who would likely visit the cafe in their off time if they didn't work there.

Popped in here with my wife at the end of January hoping that on the off chance they had space and indeed they did.

My wife and I called in for a coffee and a warm, conditions outside Baltic. I must admit I was pleasantly surprised after reading a few of the reviews on here. I remember when the building was a furniture shop. Back to the review, staff pleasant and attentive. We had coffee and croissants, both were very good. There is a relaxed vibe to the place, the decor is quirky. We will visit again to try more on the menu. Well worth a try as a good alternative to boring multinational chains.

My partner and I were strolling along and came across this little, cosy cafe which seemed to offer a decent range of food at reasonable prices. My partner had a 'super sandwich' and I stuck to the cheese and onion toastie. His sandwich really was super from the size as well as a healthy portion of salad, coleslaw, and crisps; mine too had the same sides. He had an Americano and I had a pot of tea which was huge for one person: not that I'm complaining. Only qualm was that my toastie, probably due to the thickness of the bread, was a little on the dry side but nothing a little ketchup couldn't fix.

A great cosy place for a hot drink and cake on a hot day! The crunchie hot chocolate and salted caramel cake were delicious! The food sounded delicious but we had already eaten elsewhere. Will definitely visit again when we're in York!

Great place and excellent service. I forgot to tell them I don't eat eggs and they insisted on replacing my side salad even though it was my fault. Lovely atmosphere and dogs welcome so we shall be revisiting with ours!!

These days it's so easy to walk into non tax paying Costa, Starbucks well I'm not sure about the tax paying on Nero...

This was a great dog friendly find with excellent fresh food and very friendly staff. We all had sandwiches which were devoured quickly all were served with fresh salad crisps and coleslaw. Would recommend and we will definitely return

Dog friendly cafe in a great location in York. I especially loved that they provided not just water but also treats for the dogs . Lovely hot chocolates and cake. Especially their caramel apple pie was wonderful. Very cosy. The staff very friendly. 10/10.

You have a lot of choice in york for cafes, but we chose to eat at cosy time on our trip. We both had cheese tosties and they were epic! Very well sized with tasty fresh toast and flavoursome cheese and a decent salad.

Nos detuvimos en un capricho y me sorprendió gratamente. Chocolate caliente y café. Pasteles eran increíbles! El personal es muy agradable y la distribución de este lugar hace muy relajado y cómodo. Esperábamos poder comer en el Pilosas Fig pero estaban completos. . Nuestra suerte fue en., al lado de la carretera tuvimos un almuerzo delicioso en este café muy pequeño y encantador. Sonriente, un servicio acogedor. Buena comida; tenía un gran plato delicioso cursi nachos con salsa, etc y mi compañero tenía un jamón asado bien presentada, brie y sándwich picalilli. Encontramos este pequeño lugar por casualidad en una visita por la tarde a Nueva York. 'Dog' en la ventana y el plato de galletas y agua significaba que estábamos a un ganador inmediatamente! El café es, como titulado, acogedora, y es cómodo. Teníamos sopa de frutas y té, scones, que era encantador. Sin embargo, el personal era lo mejor. . Todos muy simpático y accesible. . Ofrece extra leche o agua caliente para el té, galletas para perros, trayendo para nuestro springer. Las tartas, todo parecía deliciosa también. . . tendremos pop volver la próxima vez que estemos en Nueva York!

I can't believe I didn't discover this cafe sooner. Such a lovely, friendly place. Lots of choice and all very reasonably priced. Attentive, welcoming staff and very yummy food (try the mountain of nachos). I will definitely be back.
